Thai fried rice
Christi D.

I absolutely love this place. I was having an awful day but nothing that amazing food wouldn't change. Service is great. They greet and seat you promptly. Service is always professional, attentive, and I never feel rushed. The ambience is very moody and sexy with Thai furniture seating in the entrance.

Chicken Chow Min

Great food as always, wife had Gang Puck, a spicy curry rice and today I had Chicken Chow Min, which might be my new favorite. Service is fast and prompt and the ambience is standard, music and a cozy feel.

Pad Mango

Been to so many Thai restaurants like this and I generally like them a lot but none have been quite as consistent as Ta Ra Rin in Springfield(can't personally speak for their other locations). I've tried quite a few things on their menu including vegan dishes and never once been disappointed. Most recent visit I ordered an entree from their Specials called the Pad Mango. It's sort of a classic Thai stir fry dish with basil and Thai chilis but this one has the addition of mango and cashews and somehow really amplifies the whole thing. I've usually ordered it with chicken but went with the tofu this time and it was just as good. Parents both ordered the Chow Min with chicken as they normally do and weren't disappointed either. We also had the sampler platter(fried tofu, veggie spring rolls, pork wontons and chicken satay). My partner ordered a tom yum noodle soup and also really enjoyed her meal. Overall fantastic place, always enjoyable and very good.

Green curry and Chow min

The service was friendly, fast, and accommodating. When one of my group's food was spicier then it usually would be (she usually gets the medium spice, but it seemed to be spicer to her this go around) they remade her dish for her which was very kind, and was done very quickly. The food was also just so very delicious, had me going "Mm!" And kicking my feet the whole time! The portions are good. I liked that they had the ingredients in every dish on the menu. I am also allergic to nuts and sesame and they were very accommodating to that and very kind about it and did not make it feel like a burden. The place was very clean, as well as nicely decorated. I do wish they played Thai music instead of western, but oh well. It was good music.

New City. New Restaurant. NEW TREATS!
Michelangelo S.

Old Family City. New Restaurant. Yummy TREATS! SITREP Came into Eugene the night before ahead of a small family reunion the next day in Springfield, OR. We had just checked into our hotel around 7pm and were looking for some food to quickly grab but didn't want to do fast food. After a quick search on Yelp, Ta Ra Rin Thai Cuisine restaurant popped to the top of my search for excellent food stops nearby. THE SETUP I love getting the standards of any cuisine since that is what I will compare the restaurant to with other restaurants in the same category cuisine. For Thai, that boils down to Tom Kha Gai (Spicy Coconut Milk Soup), Drunken Noodles, Crispy Egg Rolls, Fresh Rolls, also probably a Sate Chicken appetizer or any other dish that comes with Peanut Sauce. Ta Ra Rin Thai was firing on all pistons with our selections AND they where extremely reasonably priced for each of the items we got (matching easily many of the deals I can access back here in Sacramento). THE LOWDOWN An excellent Thai stop in the Eugene-Springfield area and I look forward to my next time here.

Swimming Lady - with homemade sauce

Nothing like driving 20 miles into town to pickup dinner and I get home to find out my dish has no peanut sauce... I ordered the swimming lady, I'm not sure how the chef forgot the most important ingredient in the dish. We frequent here at least twice a month and lately it's been disappointing. Last time they forgot rice, and the spice level has been mediocre. Our other entree (spicy cashew noodle) had absolutely zero spice in it, my 3 year old said it wasn't spicy.. long story short we'll be returning to use our restaurant credit because the quality of food is great, but they've got some other concerns to address and we won't be back anytime soon after this. I hope they can figure out what's going on and get it fixed because we will be taking our money to Chao Pra Ya or elsewhere next time. Thankfully I know how to make peanut sauce at home to attempt to enjoy my meal. But it's not the same.

I just had some of the most amazing Massaman curry that I've ever had!! I ordered it with medium spice. Good portion sizes

A9. Chicken Satay (4)

Restaurant itself is nice and cosy, we were greeted and seated promptly after entering. The menu is pretty straight forward and food took a while to come out but everything was hot and fresh. Beef Chow Min meat was a bit over cooked but it was still really good. Pineapple fried rice is a must have. We got two orders of the chicken satay, the first was great and the second was a bit dry. Overall I would recommend and definitely found our new go to for Thai.

Wonderful ambience

Love love love Ta Ra Rin. Great service, fresh food that is always delicious. I have never been disappointed. If I didn't live 600+ miles away I would come here all the time. Whenever I am in town this is my first stop for a meal.

R-HAAN THAI - Tom Kha Soup with tofu (takeout)

I ordered the Tom Yum soup with Shrimp medium-spicy. It came out with great flavor, and had a bit more kick than I'm used to (which was fine). Service was good -- they refilled plenty of water for me. It seems to be a family-owned restaurant (they had some younger kinds hanging around, which I always appreciate). The building itself is a bit run-down. And while I'm not really familiar with the area, the neighborhood also seemed to be a bit sketchy. However, it was cozy inside, and the food was good, so I would definitely return.

Our go to is always Sabai's seafood Pad Kee Mao, but this place serves up an excellent value with the same freshness and delicious flavors. Shrimp were decent and quite a few onions, but otherwise it was perfect! Tom Kha Soup - Loved the scratch made goodness with all the lemongrass, galangal and ginger pieces. It seemed to be lacking some acid, salt and sweetness but maybe it was just an off night. The fried tofu was tasty, even though I usually prefer fresh tofu. 4 stars. The owner was so kind and friendly - you can't help but want to support families like theirs. Sounds like the previous owner had health issues and this family came down from Portland to take over. Can't wait to try the entire menu!!!

My husband and I visited for the first time one weeknight evening. The lady who took our order remembered us on just our second visit (maybe because we went back two days later) and brings hot sauce to our table every visit since without us having to ask. We usually get 2 main dishes to share and an appetizer or two. Portions are great we often come home with leftovers. We love the daily specials. There is also an extensive lunch special menu available weekdays from 11-2pm. Haven't been able to pick a favorite dish because we can't help but try something new every time. Truly a gem here in Springfield. They've made lifelong regulars out of us.

This last time we ordered Pad See Ew and Beef Yakisoba. The Pad See Ew tasted of nothing but oil, lacked very little sauce and noodles were way overcooked. The Beef Yakisoba was similar but also would add that the vegetables were old...the broccoli was turning color (yellow) and the mushrooms were slightly slimy and mushy. The noodles tasted like basic ramen, not Yakisoba that were just blanched in hot water and quickly stir fried. They still had that starchy texture and chewy much like the beef. We contacted DoorDash and all they offered was a $5 refund on a $55 bill plus an $11 tip for shitty food. We're all about supporting local food establishments before chain restaurants but don't waste your hard earned money on this place. We never will again.

We got seated right away at a booth with a window view. My waitress was an older Asian lady. She was very nice, not too talkative, but she was on top of her things. I was craving soup and decided on the highly recommended tom kha with tofu. To start, we had thai tea, thai coffee and the shrimp triangle. For our entrees, we decided on the pad see eu (they spell it pad se eu here), panang curry. The shrimp triangles were very yummy. Definitely get those. The thai tea and coffee was good, but just a little watered. I expected the taste to last in my mouth for a little bit. But it didn't. For the soup, I was excited to taste the soup! It smelled really good and it was boiling hot. My thought after my first sip of Tom Kha was, ok, this is good, they got it, but it just wasn't quite there. I couldn't pinpoint what was missing. Then I figured out that they didn't use full coconut milk. It was just a little bit and it was the lighter version. How disappointing! I wanted the robust tang, spice and coconut like how I have at home. The entrees made me sad. I really, really wanted to love it. The panang curry should be rich, thick and creamy. Instead it was soupy. I was really expecting and wanting the curry to stick to my rice, but instead it made soupy curry rice. My daughter pointed out that the curry and the tom kha soup was the same color and consistency. I didn't want to believe, but I think they used the same base and added the appropriate toppingss and seasonings to make a soup and a curry. My saddest dish was my last one that came out. It was the pad se eu. The wide rice noodles was wet and in broken pieces. I'm Asian and I'm from Vegas via Hawaii which means we have a lot of Asian cuisines, we know our food and have friends who work in high end Thai restaurants. (Think Lotus of Siam) When rice noodles break into smaller pieces, it means the noodles are probably not fresh and got hard. To soften, the cook used extra water and the heat was not high enough to cook, so it stuck to pan, making the cook mix it around more...broken wet noodles that doesn't brown. Overall, I really wanted to love this place. It has potential. Maybe it was an off day but on that day I went, it didn't give me the wow I expected. Most of the items has the taste on point. Please don't water down the curry or use lower fat coconut cream. I'm not used to having regular brocolli in thai food either, but I guess this is what Eugene likes or what we can get. And people, share your food! Thai food is family style! Share it! Put it in the middle of the table and let the other person have some! I was people watching around my table and my table was the only one that didn't have our own entree per person. lol

The eggplant is tender and so rich and balanced in flavor, it is simply a delight to eat. We chose the Fried Tofu for the Pad See Ew and it was delicious. The Massaman curry came with a bowl of rice, brown or jasmine, as did the eggplant. We were a little concerned that the single bowl would not be enough because we were sharing the dishes family style. But it worked out. We also ordered off the special as well on the recommendation of staff chef Aria: the sausage appetizer and the Wild Mushroom Dumplings -- the presentation was striking and the cameras came out. Ordered the Painkiller which is by far one of the best cocktails on the menu. Side note: sometimes it's not quite blend long enough so chunks of pineapple block straw, but just ask them to blend a little extra so it's smoother. Last but not least: the Warm Spiced Cinnamon Sugar Donuts were delivered as promised warm and soft with a cinnamon sugar that loved every part of your fingers. But it was the quince ginger lemon curd that blew us away. Hands-down. We could not get enough of it. It's like an aphrodisiac and should be bottled and sold. Harmony was our server, and even though the model of service has changed so that you buy the food first and then our seated, during our meal she was attentive and thoughtful. My two guests were two of the most discerning diners I have eaten with and they were very delighted repeatedly expressing appreciation for both the taste and the appearance. It was also very gracious of Master Chef Hardinger to come out and say hello; he received their compliments warmly and they left saying they were excited to bring friends back. As long time Eugene residences I thought that was perhaps among the highest compliments they could give.

I ordered the pad thai with beef and crab fried rice (to go). My sister ordered the red curry. The food took a long time! Our server was avoiding our table, no updates on the food or a 'sorry the kitchen is backed up'. There were lots of people ordering take out, after our food order was placed. The restaurant got busier. It took about 30 minutes to get our dinner. The Pad Thai was very bland, one tone tasting. There wasn't much beef, veggies or flavor. The noodles were all clumped together, broken chunks. Usually the Pad Thai is served with beans sprouts, lime wedges, crushed peanuts on the side to mix. I had to ask for the lime wedges. The lime wedges helped the blandness, added a punch of flavor. For $18 pad thai, I expected way better especially for the long wait time. My sister enjoyed her red curry. The crab fried rice was extra fishy smelling, which was off putting. I felt the crab was bad or going bad. Crab isn't that smelly, neither is imitation crab. We got the bill and we were still waiting an extra 10-15 minutes for the crab fried rice. We were there about an hour, mostly waiting for our food. The service wasn't superb. The food wasn't good for Thai standards, super disappointing. I wouldn't come back.
