OK, OK so I've been to a lot of Thai food restaurants in Eugene and I hadn't gone to this one for many reasons and then finally I went on a date to this restaurant and I was more than impressed with the quality and the service. The flavor was outstanding have them see you in the main room. It's beautiful don't seat along the side with those little booths. That's crazy Seat yourself in the beautiful room. They have a banquet room. That's the place to sit. They want to keep that place clean and don't want to service it. I bet but don't let them see you in the booth. It is well worth every penny if your seats in the main area. read more

We go here for special occasions. I love the interior decor so much, the servers, the owner, the wonderful tastes. Hope they never close. The area surrounding is changing with all the high-rise apartments. Didn't care for the music, perhaps it seemed loud because we practically had the place to our selves. I am a Pot Sticker lover. What makes a good one (or 6)? The dipping sauce. and while most are fried on one side to make them a bit crispy, I enjoyed these being slightly less so. Again, the dipping sauce is different as most (bad ones) are bland and mostly soy sauce. This sauce is simple,clear and has a light lemon flavor with the Mirin wine ,++ This was just one impressive item. I also ordered dinner to take to a friend's house: Garlic Green beans with Pork, Salad Rolls and Northern Grilled Chicken with veggies and rice. Since I was driving over an hour away to get to my friend's place, I wanted the check the goods out while I was there in the parking lot (it was lunch time for me after all). I ate an entire order of Pot Stickers, a leg from the quarter chicken and two Salad Rolls. Everything was excellent! I ended up ordering more Pot Stickers and Salad Rolls if that tells you anything. The purple and bright yellow building is hard to miss. It will very an "again!" for me on future trips to Eugene. read more

Just had lunch here today. I got Pad See Ew and my friend got yellow curry. When they came out the first thing we had to do was take a picture of them! These were the best plated Thai dishes that I have ever seen! The flavor was amazing everything was cooked perfectly. My only complaint was the outdated decor and over all run down feeling of the building and the portion size. I was hungry like an hour after lunch. Manola's has become a work favorite. We order from here weekly. Each one of us has special dietary needs and Manola's menu and options are excellent for our office. A fav is the Seaweed ginger soup with tofu. It's always so fresh and good. Another fav is the veggie salad rolls with the plum sauce. Of course they offer your traditional Pad Thai which everyone loves as well. The best part is they deliver to our office. Right now you can only opt for Take Out or Delivery due to Covid. Expensive and not very good. The spring rolls were decent, and the plum sauce was really good. The staff was very friendly. That's where the positive ends. The red curry was not good. It had a weird layer of oil and the curry sauce separated. The eggplant was mushy and had the texture of a glob of fat. The chicken was either old or totally cremated, and it all tasted old and not fresh. The spicy level was described as a 7/10, but it was not spicy at all. There was only one small group in the place, it was prime dinner time and the place next door was jam packed- I see why now. I wouldn't say no to the spring rolls again, but I don't think I'd actively seek this place out again. It seems like the pad Thai has had good reviews so if I end up here again for some reason I'd probably try that- but I'd definitely avoid the curry. read more

Had such high hopes... Leaving disappointed... Pineapple Duck Curry was the worse ever. What a waste of duck. How do you have dried out duck in a curry sauce? The basil eggplant with pork was just as bad. How do you cook the sliced pork to to look and resemble a piece of dried leather? Servers were training, and I guess with the clientele, there is no real expectations to serve a quality product. Those who are raving were flowing over friend rice... Really? Left over rice with tidbits of pineapple and peas and carrots? When asked by our server if everything was ok, I told her exactly why everything was not ok, tried to have another one made, but we are already done with the meal and did not want to be subjected to more over cooked food. Easily one of my new favorites !. Last month my cousin and his wife came to town to visit my father for his birthday. This was a medium sized family gathering, and we decided to order food for delivery. After agreeing on Thai food for the evening, they left the restaurant decision up to me (well I am usually kind of indecisive) so I was a little intimidated when I had to make a decision for a group of 10-12. I had remembered the name of Manola's because I have driven by this restaurant many times. I See this restaurant everyday from my office near UO campus, and I had been curious about it. So I decided, "lets try it". Online / Mobile delivery was an ease, there were many options to choose from on the menu (which is always a good thing). Pricing is actually a strongpoint here, dishes are priced reasonably !, and the tastes are at premium levels!. I've ordered here a few times since this initial visit. Great Thai Food here. I had the tofu pad thai and loved it. I would recommend this and will be back at some point for sure. I came here with a group and everyone enjoyed what they ordered so seems hard to go wrong. Many of us were vegan, so the server was helpful in navigating a already vegan friendly menu that also had both tofu and tempeh options. Only caveat is no bicycle parking. Eugene is number 5 in the country for biking according to Bicycling magazine, so would be nice to have more options to lock up a bike in this town especially at this wonderful gem of a restaurant. read more

I came here on a whim because my friend and I were craving thai. We got everything take away so I can't really comment on the service. The food was decent I got salad rolls which had a good peanut sauce ( it wasn't too heavy, but a bit mild in terms of spicyness). The actual roll was delicious, I really like how thai restaurants moisten the rice paper I'm not sure how they do it but the rolls come out with a nice chewiness. I also got the Panang Curry on a suggestion from a friend and it was good, it had a ton of veggies but not a ton of chicken. While the food was decent, the prices were a bit expensive for a thai restaurant near campus. The decorations in the inside try to paint the restaurant as fancy, but it seems a bit old and outdated. read more

Manola's surprised me! Eclectic Southeast Asian decor, dimly lit interior, and lots of space inside. Service was attentive (sometimes overly so) and food was pretty good! We had potstickers and chicken and shrimp pad Thai. Also had lots of local (and Thai!) beers, wine, juices, and bubble tea. Lots of interesting desserts like fried bananas with coconut ice cream which I will have to try next time. Food is not cheap, but pretty typical for the area (average 12-17 dollar plates). We've been loyal customers of Manola's since moving to Springfield almost three years ago. The Pad Thai is among the best we've tried anywhere in Oregon, and the Thai Spring Rolls are the best spring rolls in the entire Eugene/Springfield area. The portions are average, but the quality of the ingredients is what sets Manola's offerings apart. The prices are a bit higher than most other Thai restaurants in the area, though. We called in a pick up order on a Friday night and it was ready in the time it took us to get there so that's always a plus! We ordered the pot stickers, pad see yu with beef and pad kee mao with chicken, both medium spicy. The pot stickers were not good, and nestled in a bed of seriously wilted and gross looking lettuce. The pads were both good but we've had better from other Thai places in Eugene. The spice level was good. My pad kee mao (they have it as "mow " on their menu) had too much noodles and not enough chicken or veggies. Also, the portion sizes were small for what we paid. While there was nothing specifically bad about Manola's, there are better places in town and closer to home for us. read more

Update: On a return visit, I had the tempeh pad thai again. I don't know what happened, but it was not very good. Did they get a new cook or something? It was overpriced and a big disappointment. I went in after work at 745p on a Friday. As a single person, it's sometimes hard to go into a restaurant if there isn't a bar. From the start, they seated me in a corner, which was nice because the place wasn't super busy and I didn't stick out. I got the Pad Kee Mow and a Taro Bubble Tea. There are 3 ways to enjoy spice in this dish. I like spice, but you never know, so I ordered the medium, that was perfect. Wanna know what else was perfect? Crispy fresh veggies in the dish....yum! (We ordered this through an online delivery service so I can't attest to eating in-restaurant, but it arrived hot, fresh, and exactly as ordered.) I have tried four Thai places in Eugene/Springfield and order (basically) the same thing every time I go hoping to recreate the flavors of a favorite restaurant in Portland and another favorite rest in West Los Angeles. Manola's is pretty spot on. What we ordered: Mango Bubble Tea (usually I go with Thai Iced Tea, but couldn't resist the lure of tapioca-ball goodness), Chicken Pad Thai, and Crispy Fried Wontons Chicken. The Pad Thai is a large portion and, as such, is reasonably priced. You can easily share this dish or save it for lunch the next day. It's perfectly balanced with bean sprouts, scallions, noodles, peanuts, and (as it should be) topped with a lime wedge. The sauce was perfect (I ordered it spicy, however, next time I will order it extra spicy... I want my face to melt when eating my food) and not at all too sweet like most places. If you love Chicken Pad Thai or are trying to figure out what to order, try this; You won't be disappointed. The wontons were a bit of a surprise. I was honestly expecting a normal-sized wonton, stuffed with cream cheese and minced chicken. Or something like it. What we received were baby wontons (they're slightly larger than cherry tomatoes) stuffed with glass noodles, minced chicken, and herbs... and they were delicious. Even better than expected. The plum sauce was the only disappointing part of the meal. The mango bubble tea was also pretty good. Average compared to the bubble tea in Southern California, but really good compared to some of the places local to Eugene. My only critique is all of the added sugar. You can feel it when you're stirring your drink, and then taste it if you get the straw too close to the bottom of the cup. Fruit is sweet. It doesn't need sugar added to it. They're also quite generous with the tapioca pearls and 98% of it went up the straw (about a dozen had clumped together in the bottom of the cup). Right place to celebrate my friend's birthday. My friend wanted to eat good thai yellow curry. I told him that Manolas is the only place in town that has it Just like in Thailand. He really enjoyed it. Myself I had the usual Pad Kee Mao (better known as drunken noodles.) Three stars spicy. Delicious.and then Pad Thai Shrimp for my girlfriend and the birthday boy's girl friend Spicy Pasta. Our server was Rena which she did an oustanding job. I have been in search of a decent Massaman ever since Mekela's left the 5th St. Market (they went downhill fast after that). I have made it at home a few times, but it was never quite right. Now when I am craving Massaman, I have a place to go! It was absolutely outstanding. The restaurant was clean, service was terrific, and when the owner came and talked with us explaining that these were her grandmother's recipes, I was not at all surprised. Pretty tasy, Tried the pad thai, was very solid for the eugene area. Also tried the peanut curry, Was very good and they let us get a mix of tofu and tempuh in it, at Thai n noodle they only let you pick one! I would order this again in a heartbeat. Good service except they sat us next to the only other people in the restuarant. Giving it a four because the prices were a little higher than cafe aiyara and the food was about the same as theirs. read more
