Sunday lunch may not be the best time to eat here. The restaurant was full, with a couple groups of people ahead of us. We got a number, and thankfully, it didn't take too long until a table opened up for us. We had taken advantage of our waiting time to browse the menu and decide on what to order. Once seated, we ordered a small pho with raw beef and beef tendon, as well as a bian hoi with lemongrass chicken fillet and Vietnamese ham. The service was quick and efficient. FYI, it was quite noisy in the restaurant at full capacity and it was difficult to hold a conversation without raising your voice. Imagine our surprise when the bian hoi arrived with two chicken wings instead of a lemongrass chicken fillet. Perhaps the server heard chicken and automatically wrote down chicken wings instead. The noodles in the bian hoi were stuck together in one huge clump and it was very difficult to separate them without breaking the noodles. This doesn't usually happen when we order bian hoi at other restaurants. The amount of noodles in the dish was sufficient for three meals, and we had to pack the leftovers. I'm a fan of peanuts in bian hoi, and I wish we could've gotten more peanuts. There was only a small amount sprinkled on top.
Qualiy went down. Was last here in September of 2023, prices were lower and quality was higher. Most guests order the pineapple fried rice and noodle soup. Our seafood noodle soup was watered down with shrimp smaller than my pinky. My house special, was not special there was no taste of chicken broth or beef broth. Theres alot of competition in this area and we certainly will no come back. Waitresses were nice hough, but that isnt why we came here. Restaurant is brigh as hell. Def not romantic. Cups and cutlery were sticky.
Ahh I loveeeee the pho here . It's like hk style pho and there's an option to pick fresh noodle.. Portion size is quite generous for both noodle and toppings . Xl was $14.99. Soup came out piping hot and soooooo yumm ! Only downside is they didn't have bean sprouts as well no culantro !:( We also tried pineapple fried rice ! Good for aesthetics and had good wok taste but it was the first pineapple fried rice I had that had sausage in it instead of seafood. Price was $13.99. Finally we also got a durian milk shake for $5.99 which was lacking and completely watered down . Would not recommend . Bonus this is one of the few pho places open late . Most around the area close by 9 pm!
A friend recommended this place a few days ago. I dropped by Sunday early afternoon for lunch and it was really busy. The restaurant is pretty big but lots of tables were occupied. I wasn't a huge fan of the food. Perhaps it's more of a Chinese style Vietnamese food, but I didn't find many of the items authentic. For example, the char keow teow tasted more like a Singaporean curry with flat rice noodle dish. The rice and 3 mixed meats were also not the traditional grilled meats with broken rice. The spring rolls were really good though! The large pho was pretty big. The pho came with fresh rice noodle, but the broth was average. I also had a viet coffee which was also average. Overall, given how there are so many other restaurants around, I probably will try something else.
My mom and I were looking for a quick lunch and found this Vietnamese restaurant in Scarborough at Midland and Finch. We ordered the Tom Yum Gong Noodle ($8.99 small size) and Ketchup Beef Brisket Stew ($7.99 small size). My mom enjoyed the Tom Yum noodle soup which came with at least 4 shrimps, onions and peppers. I ordered the Ketchup beef brisket and that tasted okay. I prefer fattier pieces of beef brisket and I found the meat to be too lean. We wanted to order the Spring Roll but it was already sold out before 1pm on a weekday. The customer service is pretty good and the patio seating is nicely spaced out. This isn't my favourite Vietnamese restaurant but the location is great and I find it's quite clean.
Huge noodle portion, this was a size small! Their prices are also lower than most Vietnamese restaurants around the area.
Nice food at reasonable price $12 for this house special beef noddle. Quick and courteous service. The plaza have lots of parking very convenient
I used to come here frequently when it was one of the only few pho spots in the area. I recently came back for a quick, convenient, and comforting meal. The menu is in English & Chinese with prices and a few pictures shown. They offer a large variety of food and drinks. I love their grilled pork neck because it's really flavourful and I love the texture. I also ordered their signature pho in an XL to share with one other. The food took longer than usual to come and the grilled pork neck (snack size) came when we were almost finished the pho. We were almost about to cancel the grilled pork neck order as we were basically done our meal. The pho is decent but I think the prices are relatively lower compared to other pho restaurants in the area. They are usually busy during peak hours so the restaurant can get quite noisy. There's a huge parking lot for the plaza and I've never had an issue finding a spot to park.
Whenever I'm craving for some noodles, this is the place! The service is always fast, efficient and friendly. I always order their laksa noodles and never disappoints. The soup is always full of flavour - it's spicy and savory. I ordered small and I was pretty stuffed!
Recently visited this resto again. Granted still during pandemic and social distancing. Prices have gone up for dine in restos I find. We ordered : Small Cooked Beef Pho, Vietnamese Noodles and BBQ Squid. Wifey enjoyed her Pho. I only tasted the Pho broth, since I can't eat beef due to gout. The Vietnamese noodles were also good. The BBQ Squid for $8.99 CAD, sorry, we found it not as enjoyable as to back in 2018. Even tho I like squid, it's one of the seafood I can consume and not cause a reaction with gout flare up. The squid we had didn't seem completely cooked. Not enough char on it either. Tho for the Vietnamese Noodle dish, it seems steep priced at $13.99 CAD Will still come back for other dishes tho, since it is cold weather now and Pho is comforting for colder weather.
Surprisingly this place never disappoints. You can get good pho at a good price. Service is fast and they're pretty accommodating. Compared to previous pho places, the broth they give you at this location doesn't compare. I've tried the Satay w/peanuts and they set the bar with that. Probably the most flavourable satay pho you can get for less than $10. The house special is always a go to as you can add sauces to your preference to enhance the broth with the condiments on the side.
Small pho with rare beef and tripe: $8.99 plus tax. I thought the bowl was very overwhelming with the noodles. It was on the thicker side. The broth was not piping hot like I would normally prefer. However, they are pretty generous with the meat portions. 25 cents surcharge for any bills paid with debit.
Decent place for a quick bite. The parking lot is a bit of a pain during rush hours since there are a lot of restaurants in the area but after you get a spot, everything else is quick. We were greeted as soon as we got in and got a seat right away. Food came out shortly after. Portions are big for the price with a good amount of meat and noodles. In fact, we were able to share a large pho between two people and were both full after. However, I felt that this restaurant cares more about quantity than quality. The noodles were very thick and a little overcooked. Soup wasn't hot enough so my bean sprouts didn't cook through (they didn't offer to cook them for us and we couldn't flag anyone down). Soup base was forgettable. Overall, food was average at best. Probably would only come back if I was really hungry and looking for a quick meal.
If you want Vietnamese noodles and rice in an efficient restaurant with no surprises, this is the place. They have been very good for a very long time! If you a single person or a larger group no problem. And the menu is in English too. Just write down the number and ur all good (for my non Chinese writing friends). Give it shot if you are in Scarborough. read more
Good service but not really our 'cup of tea'. They're kind of stingy on the meats that come with the pho and my pork chop slices with my vermicelli were sliced thinly and kind of dry. Maybe I should've requested the lemongrass chicken. Perhaps next time...If. I don't think they're authentically Vietnamese. The entire staff speaks Hong Kong Cantonese. Sorry but I've had better at authentic places. Just wanted to give this restaurant a try, since we happened to be in the area. read more
I used to come here a lot before but haven't been here in quite some time. I came here with my family on a Saturday evening around 6pm since we were in the area. We ordered the Pan Fried Balacan Beef w/Noodle and a Vermicelli with two items - lemon grass chicken fillet and Vietnamese spring rolls. When we got our food, I guess I was too hungry that I didn't notice the spring rolls were missing from the vermicelli until my kids asked me. Thankfully I hadn't started eating yet so I notified one of the waitress. She apologized for the mistake and she quickly checked with the kitchen. She came back with two spring rolls and apologized again. Overall the vermicelli tasted great. However the beef with noodles was a bit too salty. We usually don't order something like this at a Vietnamese restaurant however my kids wanted it so we just got it. read more

I used to come here all the time several years ago for pho, stopped for a bit and came back for the first time in a while last night. One thing that's true about this place is that it's consistent and you always know what you're going to get when coming here. After all these years nothing has changed. I usually get the same thing, which is the pho you get to select 2 add ins (I get the raw beef and tripe). The dishes come in generous portions and the price point is competitive. The noodles tasted fresh as well. The beef was nice and soft, though some pieces had big bones attached to them which made it a bit difficult to eat. Other than that, super satisfying... I had a huuuge craving for pho the past week. The menu is a pretty good selection. Although I've only ever ordered the pho here, my friend told me that their curry is good. They also have drinks like bubble tea and smoothies at a decent price. The service here is what you'd expect from your typical Asian restaurant. Efficient. The staff here, from all my experiences just want to serve you as quick as possible. Not necessarily the friendliest but they give you what you ask for. Though I must say that sometimes when you ask servers for additional things (i.e. side bowl of onions), they give you a vibe that you've bothered them. There is plenty of seating and space here, with both small and large round tables. This place has a constant flow of people, but I've never seen it packed full. This is a place that has been around for a long time and not a single aspect of it has budged. The quality of food is consistent and reliable, so it's a place you can depend on to get a decent fill. read more
This is one of my go-to places for pho. You always get seated super quickly and you just fill out your order on a small white sheet and give it to the waitress. Besides trying to get your orders in and asking for the bill, getting good service from the waitresses here are almost impossible at times. You come here for their quick service, not exactly good service. Their large pho is extremely big and can probably fill 2 people up. Extremely satisfying. One dish I advise against due to its small size is their mango sticky rice. Portion size was extremely small and not worth the price in my opinion. read more
One of my favourite places to have pho. Been coming here for many years and will continue to. Staff here are friendly and service is quick and efficient. As far as ordering goes, they will provide you with a pen and paper to jot down your order (item number and special requests) The orders always come out perfectly, no onions in pho just like I requested. Pho (w/ cooked beef + beef balls) - The pho comes with fresh noodles(I prefer fresh over dry noodles) they give a decent amount of meat here. Soup is normal tasting a bit on the bland side and from my past experiences sometimes the soup comes really hot and sometimes it comes really warm. So for the raw beef eaters, be aware of that. Grilled pork neck(snack size) - This is actually what I draws me here time and time again. It's grilled to perfection everytime. The pork has a light sweet glaze on it and marinade is tasty. I highly recommend this dish. One of my go to places for quick delicious meal. read more

This restaurant has more of a relaxed, food court vibe than your standard restaurant. The prices are very affordable with a small bowl of pho for less than $10 depending on how many toppings you want. The large size is not much more expensive but is huge - 2 people could share. I tried the beef broth pho with cooked beef and the flavour was great, meat was tender. Overall a nice casual place to satisfy your pho craving. read more

It's a pretty big restaurant, but it's also pretty busy. We came in around 8 PM and it was still packed. Washrooms smell a bit weird. Their menu features various rice and noodle dishes, as well as curry. They also sell bread and roti on the side. I picked this restaurant through recommendation because apparently the pho bowls are huge. And, yes, they are pretty big compared to some other pho places (see pictures). it's probably good enough for two people, as several tables were also sharing large bowls of pho. Our table actually had two large bowls of pho but they only offered one small plate of bean sprouts and garnishes. There isn't much flavour to the broth or the noodles, but the meat was alright. For $10, you're getting a massive bowl of pho, so it's not a bad deal if taste is not that important. Also tried the curry with chicken and roti, but it was no good. Curry was very watery and the chicken didn't have much flavour. You're paying $2.50 for a piece of roti, but it's thin and flaky. read more
Nicely tucked amongst a strip mall full of Asian restaurant, this Vietnamese eatery is a popular choice on Midland near Kennedy in Scarborough. The service is fast and food always hot. Known for great soups and large portions. $-$$ read more
My Vietnamese friend recommended this place so I knew I had to go. The restaurant had ample seating and a counter for people eating solo (which is where I ended up). I ordered the "house special" large pho. The broth was very different from all other pho places I've been to in scarborough. It was super rich, hearty, and almost cream-like. The noodles were also thicker and heavier than other places I had been. The beef portions were also very generous. I did not finish it. I got a Hong Kong style iced milk tea to drink with my meal. It was a bit pricey, but it was quite large and very tasty so I was ok with it. I will definitely return to try some other dishes before I give it 5 stars. But I highly recommend coming here if you want a rich pho experience. read more
WOW!! This place is amazing!! I went here once back in februrary, and totally forgot the name of it. But ever since then, I've been craving to go back but the only thing I knew was that it was a pho place at the intersection of midland and finch. Let me tell you.. the parking is horrific! The people are driving and parking on the wrong side, putting on hazards lights to wait for people and they back out of spaces with no warning. It's an accident waiting to happen. The restaurant is quite large and spacious, there's a lot of room but it can get busy on weekends and nights. However, this pho place deserves 5 stars! The meat is the best quality meat I've ever had in a pho restaurant! The beef is legitimately RARE, and you can cook it in your hot soup to the point where you like it. I love rare meat, so when the beef is soft and tender, hnnnnng, it just makes me so happy. I have to admit, this is not the best pho I've ever had (the noodles). I like pho with a little bounce in it, but I guess this is just standard pho. They have so much noodles in one bowl that a small can make you full. Also, the food came so fast- it was here in less than 3 minutes after we handed in our menus. Definitely will be returning even though the drivers in this lot makes me want to die. So deliciouso. read more

4.5 stars. By far the best pho place in town!! I've been a loyal customer for over a decade :3 I always come to this place when I need a quick pho fix. Food is always served HOT and quality is very consistent. Service is courteous and EXTREMELY FAST. Even when I place an order for take out, food is literally ready for pick up the second I put down the phone... I'm serious lol! I have pretty much tried most of the items on the menu, and there isn't really anything I dislike :) Prices are reasonable... but there are certain items on the menu I would probably not order. Ex. Vietnamese/Thai Assorted Plates - for that kind of price, I can order 3 more bowls of pho lol. But don't get me wrong, the sampler platters are delicious, plus you can try all their specialty appetizers all in one. Some of my all time favourite dishes: 1. Pho with cooked beef - why cooked beef? This location gives you the fatter and juicier meat when you order cooked beef compared to the leaner meat when you order raw beef. Found this out by accident hahaha. You can change your beef soup base to chicken (no extra cost) AND curry, satay or tom yum (for $1 more). You may wish to change the pho noodles to glass noodles (more chewy!) for $0.50 more too :) 2. Vietnamese fried noodles - aka pho without the soup. Most satisfying, must-order item! It is packed with flavours and is made with chicken, pork and shrimps. Yea, it doesn't look too appealling in photos, but it tastes great! 3. Seafood Laksa Noodles - curry and coconut soup base with both rice noodles and thick yellow egg noodles! Smells so delicious, has a bit of a kick, and I can't stop eating it lol. I'm not a big fan of the egg noodles but the rice noodle is fantastic in this dish... it soaks up all the flavours of the creamy soup! 4. Thai Boneless Chicken Feet - spicy and sour, this appetizer is quite addictive lol. Not everyone might like them but they are surely my fave! Give them a try.... only if you're feeling adventurous ;) I often recommend my patients to eat here if they want something quick, satisfying and cheap ;) I would highly recommend it to pho hunters out there... this is definitely one of the better pho places in Toronto :D Happy pho eating! read more

My only wish is that there are food places such as this nearby where I can dine to my heart's content. Compared to other Vietnamese (Pho) places, Vietnam Noodle Star offers much more dishes. On top of the standard Pho noodles, they have rice meals, curry dishes, and laksa. Their Laksa is what I like best. Pho is something that has become commonplace already with all the Vietnamese restaurants you have around the city. Laksa, however, is a little more rare. It is good that me and my group decided to try this place out for a change. Great find. read more

Was craving pho, and I had wanted to check this place or for a while now so I was happy to be able to finally make it. The place has a lot of seating so we didn't wait very long for seats. Although on a night like tonight, there weren't many patrons anyways. Service was efficient, but again, there weren't many customers. I ordered the small house special for under $10. It came really fast and you got a decent quantity of beef. However, there was only one beef ball. I enjoyed it. Two negatives: tea was lukewarm and the pho was hot, but not piping hot. On s snowy, cold evening, I would have appreciated a hot bowl of pho! read more
We're always at Vietnam Noodle Star if we're here for an appointment, once or twice a year. We've got the House Special, but this time we went it seems the quality went down, the broth wasn't great and the beef was not that great either. The restaurant was busy and you really need to flag down the server. They used to take credit cards, however in this visit, they say only cash and debit card was available. read more

Been here a few times now and the service is kind of up and down. We once had to ask for our bill 4 times in 20 minutes before they gave us our bill... Sometimes they're quick and other times they just forget you ever spoke to them. It's always busy here so thats a good sign, but I would review other yelper's recommendations as they have a fairly extensive menu and that means some dishes won't be so great. My boyfriend had the chicken and rice which he enjoyed. I had vermicelli the last time and this time I wanted to try something a big warmer and soupy. I went for the house special. I can honestly say I wouldn't come here for pho ever again.. The noodles were so mushy and all the meat they used was mushy as well. I don't know if you've ever had beef slices that melted together like that before, but you can tell it's severely freezer burned. It was really not appetizing at all. On the other hand, I would go just for an order of the thai boneless chicken feet. :) Picked perfectly, just a nice balance of sweet and sour. That was quite appetizing. (maybe just take it to go) Places with large menus like this are a hit and miss. If they have a lot of offerings, it means they aren't likely paying close attention to each dish they create and probably just make it on the fly with not much care or respect for their ingredients. But cheap food for a quick meal.. can you really ask for more? read more
