We were lucky enough to attend the pre-opening Friends & Family Day and let me tell you, Boone has scored a coup to be one of the locations for this NC/SC chain. Our party of four was greeted warmly and, following protocol, waited in line, placed our order and then and only then took our order number sign to a table. Our food and drinks were then brought to our table. I got the Oatmeal Power Bowl and a café latte. The Oatmeal was perfectly cooked and topped with fruit and walnuts, with cinnamon and a honey drizzle around the rim of the bowl. I could only eat half of the large serving. The latte was hot, expertly prepared and satisfying. My husband got The Old School Breakfast. He was enamored with the sausage patty, which appeared to be hand-cut and was quite flavorful. He's guessing Neese's but we don't know that for a fact. Our daughter is a breakfast potato connoisseur and she heartily approved after tasting his. The biscuit is a work of art - gigantic, fluffy, and buttermilky. Orange juice is fresh squeezed from what appears to be a VEVOR machine and tastes exquisite. He got a black coffee and kept saying how good the coffee was. My daughter and her companion split an order of The Vicious Beignets and appeared to be floating off to heaven as they enjoyed them. The beignets were much heavier/heartier than expected, filled with cinnamon cream, and served with strawberry jam, fresh sliced strawberries, whipped cream and maple drizzle. They also got chai lattes which they said were quite good, they particularly liked the sprinkle of cinnamon on top and the cute presentation in mason jars. As we are still in the Covid times, I appreciated the space between tables and the easy-to-clean hard surfaces. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. We didn't even have to ask for a take home box, as one was offered to us. This is now a must-visit spot when we are in Boone and our App student is eagerly awaiting their addition to the local delivery roster. read more

The name says it all. Amazing. Staff is friendly and welcoming, very personable. For early birds it doesn't open until 8 am, but it is worth the wait. Ordered the Beignets to share. Better than New Orleans, they sit on a bed of fresh strawberries with whipped cream with a surprise center The Vicious was great. I had it with the gravy on the side since I am not a big gravy fan, it was nice this way so I could dip if I wanted. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy in the center. They have a huge menu, obviously lots of biscuit sandwiches. Plates with eggs, and other treats. Great space, plenty of seating, they have a butter and jam bar! Lots of different flavors to pick from. A ton of condiments, and they serve alcohol, cocktails, and mimosas. The line could have moved quicker but I was prepared to wait. Just when I was wondering how long it would take for my food to come out, there it was. I honestly wanted just a biscuit, but I got a egg white omelette too. Trying to be a little healthy! Can't really mess up the omelette which was fine. I was a little disappointed that they charged me for tomatoes I added but I had omitted the avocado. The biscuit was quite huge and exactly what I was hoping for. The strawberry jam I got was also delish. I ate about half , took the rest home! How could you resist stacked flavorful biscuits ordered to taste? If you're into buttery homemade biscuits don't drive by Vicious Biscuits these guys know what they're doing. If you arrive and there's a line don't be discouraged as it moves fairly quickly. Place your order at the cashier and they will bring your food to your table. I must admit - pretty darn good coffee. I decided on the fat boy buttermilk biscuit with pimento cheese and hot honey drizzle. Yuuu-um! I dressed it with some of their jalapeño peach jam. Yes please!!!! I got the keto bowl with spinach, 2 eggs over easy, crumbled bacon and tomatoes with everything seasoning. So good!!!! Doug got the Egg White omelette with spinach, feta cheese, avocado and pico all good and very delicious! I also ordered a side of bacon extra crispy and it was perfect ! Great breakfast and my new favorite place! Maggie was very helpful and made us very welcome as did Blayne and Tessa H who took our order and greeted us like regulars ! Was greeted right away and assisted with our ordering. The food is awesome and come with an appetite because I ordered off the children's menu and it was almost too much to eat. You must try all the different jams they have on their jam bar. The apple pie butter is amazing!!! The atmosphere there is laid back and very comforting. You don't feel rushed to leave either. Well. Seems promising but not sure yet. In all fairness they have just opened. The parking lot was completely full and had to lap a few times to find a space. The interior is roomy and comfortable. The line was long and only one register open - it took about 20 minutes to get from the door to the register. The food was brought to the table in much less time than that. The biscuit was large and nicely brown. I got the ham, egg, and cheese. It was good, but I wouldn't go beyond that. The egg was scrambled and a tad greasy. The ham had a good flavor, but was like sliced deli meat. I got coffee to drink which was good but everything was in short supply. The half and half was out and the coffee ran out twice while I was there. Call me old-fashioned, but for almost $16, I expect a little bit more. Again, the jury is out for now - I'll go back after the shine wears off and see how things have settled. read more

It seems biscuit places are all the craze now! This is a SE regional chain that just opened in Boone. I was first introduced to biscuit places like this by the original Biscuitville in Asheville years ago and still seem to rate all other biscuit place against them. We went mid morning on Friday and there was a little line but it moved quickly. We also got it to go, which is something I don't usually do since I don't think food travels especially well but I wanted to get to the slopes! The plates coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and even though our biscuits traveled way better than I though they would I would eat in house next time. I ordered The 'Mater, it was good but I the sweetness of the bacon jam was surprising and I think overwhelmed everything. My husband got The Fat Boy and although he said the chicken was cooked perfectly and was juicy the pimento cheese was overwhelming. We know biscuits are rich and a treat I think in general their biscuit selections are heavy handed and piles rich ingredient on top of rich ingredient. Surprisingly they let you create your own biscuit so you can do your own editing. There are also other options on their menu including lighter offerings. Surprisingly it seems they only have one vegetarian biscuit, or at least I think it is vegetarian but they don't have anything indicating vegetarian options. Their prices are reasonable and you could even get just a plain biscuit for $3 and enjoy the butter and jam bar. The bar has 3 plus butters and about 5 jams. My wife and I were in town for a quick get away and this place was right around the corner. Besides the awesome name, their biscuits are nothing short of amazing. Buttery, yet flaky and light. I had the Vicious Benni and my wife had a bowl. Both were amazing. My wife also had their orange juice and as a Floridian can say this might be the tastiest oj I've ever had. The logo is amazing. I absolutely love it. The service was great. There was a long line, but absolutely worth it. Everyone was friendly and took care of anything we needed. The food: The Viscious: It's huge and delicious. Chicken is perfectly fried and seasoned. The gravy on it isn't over powering. I was iffy on the jalapeños, they were a little too soft for my liking. Fried Green Tomatoes: Perfectly fried and delicious. The pimento cheese was sooooo good. The bacon jam was alright. Cool to taste, didn't want to eat the whole serving. The wife demolished the okra Biscuits and Gravy: Soooo good. My wife hates any gravy that I didn't cook, but I saw her try this one and got that little funny look in her eye. The fried chicken was really good. I wanted to start with that because my wife and I both had chicken on our biscuits. I had the Nashville hot chicken biscuit. It was so under seasoned that it tasted almost the exact same as the chicken on the viscous biscuit. The bacon on the Bloody Mary was cold/soggy and had a mushy fat texture. My wife rated her vicious biscuit as 6/10 and my Nashville hot biscuit was 5.5/10. This place is extremely overrated. It's 10 bucks at minimum for a chicken biscuit with no drink or side and it's nothing to write home about. If you're expecting something like biscuit head in Asheville so go here, it's lack luster and just ok for waiting an hour. read more
