I was told that they not add any salt to any of their items except to the vegetables and you can request it no salt and season it yourself. I had the create-your-own-bowl with the quinoa, kale and shredded beef, and it was so good. My husband had the turkey burned ends flatbread and his was equally good, I will order it next time. I enjoy the food here from time to time. We used to order batches of their packaged frozen meals regularly. My favorite item on their menu is the ¨build your own¨ bowl. I think this place is worth a try if you are looking for a healthy lunch in Boone. The counter service at Clean Eatz used to be excellent, friendly, and helpful. Everyone here used to be on top of things. It has gone downhill recently. On my last visit, the person taking our order was distracted, inattentive, and not particularly helpful- seemingly more focused on flirting with the guy in line in front of us than paying any attention to other customers. I went to the counter after our meal to order more food to go and to get a to-go box. I was the first person in line. I was ignored by the fellow at the counter, who instead waited on two other people who came in after me and who were clearly behind me in line. This place caters to the gym crowd. It seems maybe the gym crowd are the only customers they want. There are two significantly better restaurants in the same shopping complex. Try MINT Indian and STICK BOY Kitchen for friendly service and delicious food as well. read more

The food here is good. We have used the meal service for 2 years and have loved it. Recently, when I went to pick up our weekly meals they were 2 short. They said they would refund me the money. I went back twice because it was never refunded, and still have yet to receive it. Now I am just out $16. I really loved that when my husband has to go to Boone to his doctor appointments we could go here to eat healthy. What I really dislike is that yesterday we went around 2pm after his CT scan ( we were starved) and the girl who took our order couldn't get her hands out of her hair. She massaged her scalp as I ordered. And kept messing with it the whole time we ordered. Another girl in the kitchen area touched hers many times as well. We watched to make sure neither of them came near our food as I would have left if either did. Why are they allowed to have long hair hanging freely in a restaurant?? Won't go back. read more

There is always a smiling person to greet you. The help in creating exactly what you want for your meal, AND they were so very helpful with our fundraising efforts at my school. I've been twice for lunch, including yesterday, and ordered bowls with salmon, fresh vegetables etc. Pros: Super nice service! Both times, employee brought food to my car, where I was waiting. Overall, the food is tasty and pretty healthy. Lots of choices, too. The black beans are great, and there was a good quantity of yummy asparagus in my bowl. The brown rice was really good too. It's not an enchanting atmosphere but the location is convenient when running errands in Boone. Cons: I say "pretty healthy" because food seems to be pretty " corporate"... not local nor organic. Is chicken free range? Antibiotic free? Where is the shrimp from? There is no description of the sources. The name: Clean Eatz? Did they use the same marketing team as Psssghettis( or whatever is was sadly called.) I am overly particular about names - I know that. Too silly and cute yet... The name implies organic, local, chemical-free.... so wazup with the CRYSTAL LITE at the limited beverage area? Clean Drinkz might include Lemonade made with real( organic) lemons and.... local honey? Agave? Just about anything besides whatever must go into the toxic powder that creates that glowing urine-colored liquid that was quite acceptable around maybe 1992. The sauces/ dressings fo not seem home-made or "clean"- I apologize if I am wrong about this or anything else!! The Thai peanut sauce was ok... but tasted jarred/ not fresh. The to-go packaging: to me " clean" implies environmental sensitivity and therefore not plastic. Corn- based , compostable utensils are more and more accessible and affordable. Better boxes and such as well. This is a huge problem in most restaurants and I am guilty of supporting this crime thru my use of take-out! Salmon was on the dry side both times. Though salmon freezes well, in general, I've noticed the dry problem when I've bought frozen salmon from Trader Jo's. Not sure if it's related to product, timing, storage or what. Plus! There is no tipping but instead there was a collection box to help hunger... Hunger Coalition? It was stuffed with money !! So nice but I'd like to tip staff as well. I hope their pay reflects the no-tip policy. The young man working yesterday said he loves supporting this good cause. Wow!! Nice job hiring. We love Clean Eatz-- delicious and healthy choices. My husband and I stop by regularly when we are in Boone to pick up meals to have in our freezer since there is no Clean Eatz in our area yet. The staff is very helpful and personable-- will customize your order to meet your dietary needs. One of our favorite meals in house is the bison burger with their special sauce-- delish! The salads are amazing and there are healthy smoothies and yogurt desserts. I highly recommend Clean Eatz! read more

We came in from out of town for lunch. The customer service was outstanding!! I made my own bowl and it was very very good. I didn't love the cilantro lime sauce I ordered but it was on the side and I added some delicious flavor with their herbz blend. All perfectly cooked vegetables and a lot of food for the cost plus you get a drink. They have a great kids menu and even allowed my daughter to make her own little bowl. Great choice for lunch today! We did the "build-a-bowl" option, so both of us got exactly what we wanted. Food is fresh and comes out quickly... You pick a base (quinoa, cauliflower 'rice', romaine, etc.), then a protein and three veggies (some steamed) to top it, along with a sauce or salad dressing on the side.
