My guest and I both ordered the shrimps and grits with a side waffle totaling up to about $43. I like that they give you a number to take to your table and they bring the food to you. Very efficient experience ordering there and it was quick! (It was after 12pm when we went.) Now this is on me because I didn't read everything that came with it but when I got my shrimp and grits I was not expecting it to be on a biscuit. Lol I think they should change the name of it to "shrimp & grit-cuits" lol Any way the food was pretty decent, I didn't leave disappointed but it wasn't super spectacular. I will say that they could probably stand to add another cash register and an additional employee taking orders during peak times, but I realize that's a big change! My daughter has eaten here before and wanted to grab lunch while we were visiting App State. It's good and while I did not get a biscuit myself I did try the one my wife got with her chicken. It was a little on the dry side if I'm being honest but the butter bar more than helps makeup for that. I got the standard breakfast with fried eggs, bacon, grits, and their sweet cream pancakes. The pancakes were great but were so fluffy they wouldn't stay together when you tried to eat them (I made it work)! I would suggest putting syrup on the butter bar as the one small container they give you is not enough for those two big cakes. Overwhelming and awkward, pretty much sums up our whole experience. While we were ordering, we had an employee yell at me and my family to clear the way. I was in the middle of assisting my parents order their food. The tone and volume of his voice was unacceptable. He later comes back to make a passive aggressive comment thanking us for clearing the aisle. We move on and pick a table to wait for our food. The cashier warned us the wait for food was 30 min. After 45 min, we hadn't received our food and went back to the counter to request help. One half of our party were missing their sides, while the other half were missing their whole food order. We were notified they had completed our order in their system by accident. Fine, we wait and finally get our food after an additional 10 min. All the manager said was "sorry for that, we were super busy." For the food: The animal farm biscuit was absolutely amazing! The chicken biscuit was also really good! The gravy was disgusting, I had to spit it out. It tasted burnt. Also, I want to shout out the cashier. She was super helpful and really nice. She had a high sense of urgency and seemed to be the only to care for my family. Overall, giving a bad review because the disrespect from that one employee made my whole family uneasy. read more

I have been to this location 8 or so times since they opened. I have ordered large quantities of food for groups and taken my wife here for day dates. Normally the service here is exceptionally good. As a veteran of restaurant kitchens, I really appreciate the level of care usually taken by the people who run this establishment. The biscuits are among the best in town. A buttermilk biscuit here costs $3 and their jam bar is wonderful. Today's weekday visit was subpar. While there were only about 6 customers in the place, including myself, I had to wait an extended period of time for a single buttermilk biscuit. I was told "the kitchen already checked it off"...This is really not the way to run a place when you specialize is biscuits. When a customer has driven a distance to your place to eat the one thing you specialize in...well, you want then to have a happy and seamless experience. You do not want them waiting a long time at a table for the simplest item on your menu. Since this experience was unusual for this location, it probably will not affect my continued patronage. Generally, I have been impressed with the service here. I do think today's experience was a missed opportunity for the management to fix something before it becomes an ongoing problem. read more

We were lucky enough to attend the pre-opening Friends & Family Day and let me tell you, Boone has scored a coup to be one of the locations for this NC/SC chain. Our party of four was greeted warmly and, following protocol, waited in line, placed our order and then and only then took our order number sign to a table. Our food and drinks were then brought to our table. I got the Oatmeal Power Bowl and a café latte. The Oatmeal was perfectly cooked and topped with fruit and walnuts, with cinnamon and a honey drizzle around the rim of the bowl. I could only eat half of the large serving. The latte was hot, expertly prepared and satisfying. My husband got The Old School Breakfast. He was enamored with the sausage patty, which appeared to be hand-cut and was quite flavorful. He's guessing Neese's but we don't know that for a fact. Our daughter is a breakfast potato connoisseur and she heartily approved after tasting his. The biscuit is a work of art - gigantic, fluffy, and buttermilky. Orange juice is fresh squeezed from what appears to be a VEVOR machine and tastes exquisite. He got a black coffee and kept saying how good the coffee was. My daughter and her companion split an order of The Vicious Beignets and appeared to be floating off to heaven as they enjoyed them. The beignets were much heavier/heartier than expected, filled with cinnamon cream, and served with strawberry jam, fresh sliced strawberries, whipped cream and maple drizzle. They also got chai lattes which they said were quite good, they particularly liked the sprinkle of cinnamon on top and the cute presentation in mason jars. As we are still in the Covid times, I appreciated the space between tables and the easy-to-clean hard surfaces. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. We didn't even have to ask for a take home box, as one was offered to us.
