I was on a business trip with two colleagues, staying in Irving and found Via Real on Yelp. It was a wonderful experience and everything was delicious. In addition, the service was outstanding. One of my companions knocked over her margarita before she even took a sip. The staff had it cleaned up and had a fresh drink on the the table in minutes. We met the owner, Fran, who was as nice and sweet as can be. She hung out with us for 10 minutes and because it was my birthday they took a photo of the group and gave it to me in a birthday card... a nice touch. The food was excellent. It is not your typical TexMex. Much more upscale. We started with an order of squash enchiladas to share as an appetizer. They were flavorful and delicate. We also shared a ceviche which was prepared with a tomato based sauce. It was very fresh and bright and wonderful with the margaritas. My entree was the signature Pistachio Crusted Sea Bass. It was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. My companions each had fish and enjoyed their dishes. We shared the flan for dessert, which had a wonderful eggy flavor, just the way I like it. The next time I am in Irving, I will be back for sure. read more

Went with some friends on their recommendation. We were quite impressed with the quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere. I had the black bean soup and the seafood special. All was prepared extremely well, with care and quality in mind. Wife had the Tacos De Res... Ancho chili sauce was very nice. Wait staff was attentive without being intrusive - and the owner came over to check on us before we finished. All in all a very pleasant experience and one we shall repeat! read more

Probably some of the best tex mex in The Dallas area. I was in town for work and ate here three nights in a row. The owner was there the last night and is very delightful to talk to. She obviously puts some work into her business. The daily specials were all excellent. The margaritas are some of the best we had ever had. Easy to get to with valet parking as an option. Plenty of parking nearby. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Upscale but not stuffy. We ate at the bar one night and the food and service was just as excellent there as it was at a table. read more

My first visit to Via Real was for Sunday brunch. The wait staff was outstanding! They have unlimited mimosas and my server never let my glass get less than half empty. The food was very good and I was impressed with the selection of brunch items they had on the buffet bar. My only complaint was the temperature of the food coming off the bar was inadequate. I tried the eggs Benedict and the waffle and both word just luke warm. read more

We celebrated my husband's birthday - it was a delightful evening! The food was out of this world, service impeccable - and Fran Mathers the owner was the perfect hostess - very rare these days to be at a place where so much care is taken to please!! read more

Excellent dine-in restaurant with authentic mexican food...Variety of desserts and drinks sum upto a whole sumptuous meal...

I love this place. The food was delicious. My waiter was beyond great. I am definitely stop by next time I am in Texas.

Delicious food. Always impeccable service. One of the few places where I LOVE the salad. Via Real Salad...it's the real deal. :)

Love this place atmosphere, food and drinks. Visit everytime we are at Dallas from WI

I came here with my husband on a whim. On the outside, it doesn't look like much. It's located in a complex next to a Tom Thumb, so it's easy to mistake it for any other restaurant. However, once you walk in, you realize that you're in a very special place. The service is unparalleled and the food is very tasty (and at a great price point!). If you're able to meet the owner during your meal, you're in for a treat! Apparently this restaurant has been around for 33 years and is a beloved part of Las Colinas, and it shows! read more

This is one of my favorite places in all of the metroplex. Even though we don't come here frequently, we come here every chance we get especially for special occasions or date night. We have always had top notch service. My favorite food item is their squash enchiladas. My least favorite has been the black bean soup (too thick). Everything else my husband or I have ever tried has been great. read more

Ceviche is refreshing and good portion. Chicken/beef Fajitas is a bit dry for me. I took a to-go so can't wait to try a dine in after all of this COVID-19 is over ^^ read more

I've been here before and always have the fajitas . Last Saturday though, completely disappointing. The waiter was pushy with a 2nd alcohol order, fajita portion was skimpy, could hardly find the chicken and beef for all the onions piled on top, I felt rushed to leave. Disappointing as previous 2 visits were great. read more

Love the ambiance! Classy place to celebrate special occasion. Our waiter, Eddie and Paul were very attentive and accomodating. Drinks and chips were generously offered. The tenderlion steak is to die for! read more

Best chips and salsa in DFW, perhaps the world. Decor is early 80s Las Colinas, which may sound like I'm knocking it, but it actually has its own charm. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are $$. The menu is very versatile. You can get tex-mex staples, Santa Fe fare, and surf and turf. Love this place. read more

I read the reviews on Yelp before eating here. We went with a group from work for an evening meal. The group was from all over Texas with the majority being from Austin; we know good tex-mex. Everyone was satisfied with their meals, and the service was excellent. They even providing the service of giving us separate checks. I had the ceviche which had a large portion and was delicious! The disappointments were the salsa...nothing special, and too tomatoey for me. And the creme brule was not solidified, but runny. But, everything else was great!! read more

Upscale, yet dated Tex-Mex. Wait staff was quite considerate and overheard someone in our party mention the steak wasn't cooked to his liking. Out of no where they returned with a newly cooked steak. Salsa, chips, and appetizers were very good, however if you are looking for authentic mexican dishes you may not find them here. read more

My husband and I were in town enjoying my birthday weekend and wanted a nice dinner out. Based on the location and several Yelp recommendations we tried Via Real. We were not disappointed! Our waiter, Ian, was very knowledgable and seemed to enjoy giving us thorough descriptions of the menu items. (I think he could tell we were truly interested in these descriptions, he wasn't as detailed with the table next to us. I didn't want that comment to be interpreted as a negative, it was not!) His descriptions were spot on. He was just the right amount of attentive as well- not overbearing, but there when we needed something. My husband and I both ordered from the daily specials. His filet was cooked exactly as he wanted. I had pecan crusted Chilean Sea Bass, which was tasty, and was accompanied by unusual and tasty sides. We both enjoyed our entrées and did a good job cleaning out plates! We ended the meal with dessert- my choice since it was my birthday! It was a difficult decision, and I'm pretty sure we would have been happy with any of them. When Ian brought out the dessert, it included a candle and "Happy Birthday" written on the plate in chocolate sauce. He took our picture with the dessert and gave it to us in a card- what a special touch! To complete the enjoyable evening, as we were leaving another member of the staff, with whom we really hadn't had any interaction, wished me a happy birthday as well. We will return when we are in town, and we will ask for Ian! read more

Ambience - top class Drinks - Awesome Food - Wonderful (not mindblowing, but it is good enough to get into my top 5 list of Mexican restaurants in the DFW area) Very vegetarian friendly, go for the spinach enchiladas! Service - Splendid. Top notch. Another hidden gem in the metroplex.. hides in the side of a strip mall. You'd never know what's behind those doors unless you go through and see how awesome this place is. I heard of the lineage that this restaurant has gone through and have been thoroughly impressed with how well they have maintained the overall quality of service and food here. Two thumbs up for Via Real! I am going back. Perfect location for a date night. read more

Excellent dinner location, and from the reviews looks like a great brunch. Table shard a bottle of Cabernet. Beef nachos to share Scallops were outstanding Shrimp Diablo They had some great seafood options, and a few red meat options that sound good. read more

this is a top-notch Mexican restaurant, excellent top shelf margaritas and the food was delicious as always. The owner Fran, is always there and very friendly. We came in with 15 people and they set us up immediately. The food and service was top-quality. I highly recommend this restaurant it's a little on the romantic side. read more

I took my team to this place on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The place is stunning. Ambiance is pleasant. Very professional service and they are quick in serving your orders. Their half-order entrees are very economical. After tortilla chips to start off, the half orders made my afternoon full. I will give a 4 star for my Grilled chicken Quesadilla but overall it is one of the best Mexican restaurant I have been to. read more

We had dinner for 2 while vacationing in the area, and it was fantastic. Drinks were great, we had 2 appetizers that were yummy, and we shared the beef tenderloin entree. The chef actually split the tenderloin entree because we both wanted it cooked differently, and it was PERFECT! We will definitely return when we are in the area again. read more

There was an extensive menu of interesting options. Atmosphere and service was terrific, but delivered food was bland if you are looking for rich flavor and spice. The grilled shrimp was a good choice, but tortilla soup, quac, jalapeño Caesar, and pasta was careful to be pretty, but plain. read more

I would pass on this.... The beef tacos were fatty and not tasty; the salmon was overly fishy... the only thing that was palatable was the nacho app. read more

Amazing food! Lots of options! Great service! Get the butternut squash soup if they have it on the specials.

First let me start by talking about the decor before moving to the server and the food. The decor is beautiful, nice ambient lighting and really nice ambiance all round. We were greeted and seated quickly and our server arrived. I'm not sure if the wait staff are advised to push the specials or talk about items that are not on the menu but this was a very strange experience. We were literally overwhelmed by the server going into finite detail about every special, to the point that we just couldn't listen much longer. Then he went into endless detail about what wasn't on the menu and how his customers of the past 40 years ( he didn't look old enough to have been serving 40 years ! ) love the specials not on the menu, they were his best sellers. I actually asked if they are best sellers why they aren't on the menu, he looked as if I was joking, didn't answer the question and moved on with his boring diatribe about the menu. He then moved onto the drinks menu, and went on and on about the owners recipe margaritas, he said she's actually in the building tonight, we honestly all thought he was going to bring her to the table so she could give more details. When my coworker just asked for the house margarita the server asked him twice are you sure you don't want the owners recipe margarita, talk about making it awkward. When my coworker had finished his first drink, the server came back and actually asked are you ready to try the owners special margarita now....really , that's just beyond embarrassing, we felt like he was trying to make his point, that we should have ordered his recommendation, it made us feel very uncomfortable. We decided that we didn't want any of the $40+ specials, it was at that point his attitude sadly changed, it was almost like we weren't off any use to him. We ordered the fajitas, enchiladas and I had the salmon. The salmon was excellent, very tasty and I really enjoyed it, my coworkers really enjoyed their food too. But sadly the waiters change in attitude was just disappointing. We were all visiting from out of town, however we will be traveling to the area on a monthly basis. I'm not sure I would return as the real hard sell was a little weird and rather off putting. read more

Excellent food and ambience! The Grilled Vegetable Salad w/Salmon was delicious. Job well done!

Fran and the team have this place running on all cylinders! Outstanding savory Tex-Mex for that romantic evening for two or for the larger corporate dining experience. Via Real can handle it and they've been a Las Colinas institution for ever! read more

My friend took me here for lunch yesterday. I had never been. I got the 3 item lunch special with a chicken crispy taco, a chicken Enchilada and s cheese enchilada. I can't believe how delicious the food was! The service was good too. I expected the salsa to be something special but found it a bit dull. Great color and texture but it lacked flavor and heat. The queso was also flat and dull. But, the entree was SO GOOD, I will definitely go back. read more

This is a review for a group lunch event that recently happened at Via Real. My company has been a long standing customer of Via Real. We have booked many large & small events at the restaurant. Covid has effected lots of business and therefore you would have thought they would have appreciated the business. We reserved a private room and so there was a F/B min. However on the day of the event we had several folks not be able to attend. Those who attended were happy with the food quality but server was poor , slow , inexperienced. Lunch took over 2 hours. We did not met the food and beverage min ( short by like 100) and they were not flexible at all. Almost forced people to buy dessert and would not allow someone to buy a gift card to make up the difference. I feel there could have been allowances made. Word of mouth advertising can be devastating to a business .. its like getting bad food, they both leave a bad taste in your mouth and people will look elsewhere when they have group lunches & dinners. As far as I am concerned it will be a long time before anyone from my company goes there again. read more

Love it! The food is great and the service is great. Beautiful, relaxing but upscale interior. The scallops were delicious. Try the white sangria, you won't be sorry! If this place were closer to home, I would be there more often. Oh, and trust the sommelier on the wine. He's very good. read more

I had looked at some of the reviews and figured they do something special for the anniversaries. When I reserved the table I mentioned the occasion as anniversary. I wanted it to be a surprise for my husband, so I didn't mention it to him. I got call from the restaurant to confirm my reservation and the lady on phone said they would do something special for us. When we reached at the reception they did wish us but I think they forgot to mention the occasion to our server. They didn't do anything for us and I was disappointed that I couldn't surprise my hubby. Service was slow as they had large group for holidays but food was good. I would certainly revisit them for food but not on special occasions. read more

The service was impeccable and the drinks were fantastic. The food was amazing. I had the steak seared on oak - don't remember exactly what they called it. The steak was perfectly done, extremely tender with a delightful fire presentation and a smokey tone to it. Everyone else wished they had ordered it as well. One person had the cilantro chicken dish and said it was great. Someone had the enchiladas and taco plate & said it was terrific. We all had Margaritas that were very good along with a wonderful guacamole appetizer. The red salsa and chips were delicious too. read more

Came here for the first time for lunch. Complimentary chips and salsa-delicious. Ordered enchiladas mexicanas-beef enchiladas with ancho Chile sauce. Not spicy but definitely delicious.
