Stopped here for lunch on a family recommendation. The food was perfect and very flavorful. The vibe here is very low key and quiet which is good sometimes when you just want a little peace and quiet during lunch. Staff here is very friendly and always checking to see if you need anything during your meal. read more

Rudy's Mexican Restaurant - Chicken Chimichangas - Tex-Mex Near Me - Irving, Texas

Rudy's was one of my family's favorites. The food was always good and served piping hot. The best thing, though was the great family atmosphere. You were always greeted and treated like family. Rudy's lasted from the 1980's till now which tells you something about what people in the area thought of Rudy's! read more

I'm really going to miss this local Irving spot, it's been one of my go-to places for years. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. You can tell they take pride in what they do because everything that comes out of the kitchen tastes homemade and consistent every time. And seriously, I could eat that salsa by the gallon! It's easily some of the best I've ever had. Irving won't be the same without it. read more

The staff here has always been friendly to my family. We love their food and especially their salsa. Sad to hear they're closing their doors soon. read more

Rudy's, a Tex-Mex treasure in Irving is like stepping into a time machine back to the 80s when I was a kid scarfing down their magical food. Let's be real--the building is OLD, like "might've been built by pioneers" old, and the shopping center looks like it's auditioning for a post-apocalyptic movie. Peeling paint, worn-down vibes--don't give it a second thought. Close your eyes, walk past the dated exterior, and let the food and family love take over. The moment you step inside, the owner and matriarch of this family-run gem greets you as hostess and cashier, and it's like walking into your grandma's house. Her warm, welcoming vibe makes you feel like she's personally inviting you to her dining room table. You're not a customer--you're family. The love in the air is as thick as their cheese sauce (more on that in a sec). Now, the FOOD. Oh, lordy, the food! The chips and salsa are a revelation--chips so light and crispy they practically float, paired with salsa that's hot, HOT, HOT but so flavorful you'll be addicted, spooning it up like it's your job. It's clearly fresh-made in the kitchen, and the spice hits just right. The corn tortillas? A surprise star--order them, trust me, they're soft, warm, and perfect. The enchiladas are straight-up heavenly, whether you go cheese, beef, or chicken--you can't pick a bad one. That cheese sauce? It's so amazing it deserves its own fan club. Creamy, dreamy, and probably made with a sprinkle of Tex-Mex magic. Don't sleep on the guacamole tostada--fresh, vibrant guac on a crispy base that's a party in every bite. The tamales, made fresh in-house, are tender and packed with flavor. The crunchy beef taco? Classic, satisfying, and everything you want from old-school Tex-Mex. Every dish screams tradition and care, like it's been perfected over decades. Rudy's is a family-owned love letter to Tex-Mex, and despite the tired building, the food and warmth make it a five-star legend. Ignore the outdated vibes, grab a seat, and let the chips, salsa, enchiladas, and that incredible family feel fill your soul. You'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit to this Tex-Mex time capsule! #RudysRules read more

My wife and I went to Rudy's for lunch yesterday. First time there in many years. Ordered the basic 2 enchiladas with rice and beans plate. Lunch "special " price was listed as $12.75 on our menus. Seemed high for a special on such a basic menu item, but oh well. When we received our bill, we were charged $14.00 for each plate. I pointed out the error to the cashier, expecting her to apologize and correct the amount to the posted price- no big deal. Instead, she offered some confusing explanation about new menus vs old menus. No offer to honor the price on our menus. We won't be back. read more

I've been going to Rudy's since 1975 when they opened. The food is always hot and delicious but it's the family that owns it that puts it above the others. IYKYK. This small family owned business needs Irvings support. When I go to Rudy's I feel like I'm going to see family. read more

I've been going to Rudy's since it opened. They take the time to know their regular customers. They knew us by name and knew, before my mom even had to ask, to get soft corn tortillas and butter to the table while we reviewed the menu. Quaint little Mexican restaurant that is truly an Irving staple. read more

Amazing food I been going here for many years and I love this place so much!! Great Tex mex food

Outstanding service every visit!! The owner greets you at the door. The menu is vast and I have enjoyed having a large selection.

A small, family run restaurant in Irving serving terrific and tasty Tex Mex! They have been open since 1975 and the owner and staff are warm and friendly and the food is great! Chips and salsa to start your meal with is the best! Please try them out for lunch or dinner if you're in the area and hope that you will also find them great! If you live in the area and haven't tried them before, give them a try. read more

The food is great! The service is excellent! We have been coming to Rudy's for years, almost once a week driving from Frisco. This is our most favorite Mexican restaurant in the DFW area. read more

Went with my coworkers for lunch today and it was a good 4/10. The food was okay, not the best but definitely something to fill your tummy up! I had the number 12, which was the 2 beef enchiladas covered in sour cream and cheese with beans and rice on the side. The service was not the best, but I understand maybe they only had one server on the floor and couldn't come to us frequently. Definitely a spot if your willing to help support family/small businesses. read more

The sweetest people but unfortunately their food has no flavor. I had the chalupa and the shell was stale and the beans had no flavor. $15 for 3 chalupas and an extra $1.10 for sour cream which I was never told was an up charge. If you want to go for the people then this is the place for you since they are super sweet but the food is not good. read more

I've been going to Rudy's since 1987 every meal awesome. Rudy's hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

I have been eating here religiously since 1997 and we are now in 2020 if that tells you anything. This family owned Mexican food "hidden gem" has been open since 1975. Let me start with the staff of which many of them are family members. Polite, accommodating, funny, nice to talk to, always remind you that the their plates are hot, refill your tea, etc...they always ask how your meal was and tell you that they will be waiting for you to come back. I have had most of their menu but I am addicted to two of their dishes in particular. The Chicken Chimichanga con queso with rice and beans and the Sour Cream Chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. OMG where do I start?!!! First, their plates are always brought to your table "bubbling hot." So hot that the staff will always remind you to "be careful Señor, the plate is very hot my friend." This makes a HUGE difference in the taste of the food btw. Their queso that smothers their square, fried Chicken Chimichanga is DELICIOUS. The pulled off the bone chicken inside is moist and full of flavor. Even their Mexican rice and refried beans are perfectly cooked. You can always tell how well Mexican rice is cooked by tasting the char grilled crispy pieces. And it's all brought to you on a plate so hot that your refried beans are bubbling and the wait staff is using a mitten to set it on your table. The Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas are phenomenal as well. Again, the plate is so hot that their made from scratch sour cream sauce "bubbles" when it is brought to your table. I have never in my life had better sour cream sauce than Rudy's, like ever. It DISSOLVES en su boca!!! You will taste nothing better in the entire DFW metroplex. I almost forgot to mention how good their house made salsa is, it is a delicious red salsa that has a little kick to it and goes perfectly over anything that you put in your mouth. I would never write a review like this if I didn't love this Tex Mex. No one is paying me to write this. I eat here at least once a week during lunch as I work in Coppell and live in East Dallas. Like many Texans I could eat Tex Mex every single day of my life but when you find something that continuously blows you away every time you eat it and can't stop craving it you KNOW it's good! read more

This place use to be awesome. The food has no spice and odd flavor. The waiter and manager where unfriendly. The price would be okay if it tasted better. My wife did not eat her meal and the waiter never asked if we liked are meal. SAVE YOUR MONEY......DON'T GO !!! read more

Oh we liked everything!!! Salsa, queso, enchiladas, tamales! We will be back! Hooked us up on chips for takeout!

Friendly service and language not an issue as was mentioned in some reviews. The waiter was able to answer all my questions in regards to the ingredients in the dishes and was very patient with someone with dietary restrictions such as mine. This place was good but not great. I've only been once so i can't be sure how great other things were on the menu but i enjoyed my dish. I suggest this to anyone looking for reasonable Tex-Mex. It's family run and the services and food is inline with that. Lunch specials (from 11am til 2pm) are very reasonable. read more

Rudy's is a delicious mom and pop style Mexican restaurant with some damn good tacos. They have specials on Mondays and Wednesdays (Tacos and enchiladas respectively) and some really good dishes. The service is very good as well(even though I had to get the waiter to stop calling my wife honey! LOL). They're closed Sundays, but give them a try, they're great! read more

Not good food was not good did not taste good low quality meat very scary looking food

I definitely had to try tex-mex in texas but i was pretty disappointed. I tried to find one of hole in the wall and i may had too much expectation. Pico de gallo was to salty and they didnt have any additional hot sauce. Etc... waiter sucked. He was little more polite after making eye contacts with me but that does not change my experience. read more

I have always heard about this Mexican food restaurant from my husband and his mother for as long as I can remember. I live in Austin but happened to be in the area, so I thought I'd finally check it out. My mother in law has been eating here for 41 years and now I know why. This place is amazing. The food was delicious. I had the sour cream enchiladas: one beef, one chicken. My husband had the Rudy's special. We were in and out in 20 minutes and for less than $20. The only thing better than the food was the service. Our server was very helpful and attentive. He noticed that I had grabbed my jacket out of the car and he turned off the fan above me without me even having to ask. The only thing I am sad about is having to drive from Austin to Dallas to eat at Rudy's! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. The food and service is always on point. Another plus you can BYOB and they will definitely offer you a wine or beer glass. I always get the enchiladas. Beef taco and nachos are great too. Chips and salsa are always fresh and crispy. read more

THIS is my little gem in Irving. Yes it is a hole in the wall. Yes, they barely speaka de english, and yes, it can't hold very many people, but when I tell you they have the best most melt in your mouth food!!! YUM!! 20 years and still kicking it strong!! Um yes please. Chimichangas are my favorite meal, but everything is good!! Family owned and operated ........they are the sweetest family ever too! They remember me when I come, and I do place to go orders with no hassle:) Love it! Try it out you won't be disappointed!!! read more

I am giving four stars because the staff were attentive and nice and the restaurant was clean. I'm not a jerk, and I know that everything I didn't like wasn't their fault, it's my own personal preference. However. I hated the food and I won't be back, and if you're using reviews to decide whether or not to come here, you need to know why. This is not a typical Mexican restaurant. There are plenty of both authentic and tex-mex places in Irving, and while the styles are different, I can appreciate each. This place, however, takes tex mex to an extreme. It's like they're trying to duplicate Taco Bell. You won't find onions, cilantro, or carne asada here. The tortilla chips are thick like doritos, and while warm, are not freshly fried. Your food will be topped with shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato and processed yellow cheese. The rice is bland, the beans are soupy. Tacos come in a hard shell. Honestly, I've enjoyed walking tacos at like a school carnival more than this. When I saw the limited variety on the lunch menu I flipped inside the full menu, willing to pay more to get something like a street taco, or steak enchilada, or maybe some pozole... nope. Different combinations of the same things, nothing exciting. Bottom line: If you're over the age of 40 and caucasian, you will probably love this place. If you're hispanic or a foodie or even just frequent authentic Mexican restaurants, you're probably going to wish you could get your $9 back. Also, there is margarine on every table, for putting on chips or tortillas. Margarine. Yeah. read more

I have lunch at Rudy's with co-workers and friends as often as possible. Great family owned SMALL restaurant. The family and all the servers are very nice. The complimentary chips and salsa is very good, I can't stop eating it. I rarely deviate from #14 on the lunch menu...Two Beef or Cheese Enchiladas topped with Chile con Carne, with Rice and Beans...love it! I would give Rudy's 4 stars but it is one of those "not so attractive" restaurants BUT the food is consistently good! read more

Came in for lunch, was greeted immediately and taken to a table. They brought chips and salsa, the chips were great, the salsa was not very good. The tastada with my meal was old. The chili con carne was delicious but the taco meat was gross. Very pricy for the poor quality food. I will not be back. read more
