Having dined at the Park City location of Vessel Kitchen, I had an idea of what to expect at Midvale's newest spot. Basically, it's fast casual, but higher quality, with some creative (but certainly not too out of the box) options, and a price point to match. The interior is blandly attractive, but then (as much as one might hope) you can't really expect anything too avant garde. I did appreciate the simple touch of fresh seeded eucalyptus in bud vases, and the marble-y bar top. That is where we sat ourselves, and it was nice enough, with a divider between the serving area and us, however I wish they'd situated it at the windows for an outside view. Other seating options consist of a few two tops, booths that could snuggly fit six, and a couple larger tables. Menu-wise, I like what they are doing here. It's not anything fancy, but there are a variety of healthy options, including soups, salads, bowls, and my preference, the market plate, which allows your choice of protein + two sides. There is a lot of variety, and the menu changes with the seasons, displaying an emphasis on local and seasonal produce and meats when available. Get it, Vessel! I opted for blackened steelhead, roasted brussels sprouts, and lemon mint kale slaw. Presentation is uncomplicated, yet items are plated thoughtfully. My fish was cooked perfectly, and did not have a strong fishy flavor as trout sometimes does. I appreciated that they included a wedge of lemon as I juiced it liberally over top. Brussels sprouts were nicely cooked, flavorful, with just a hint of spiciness. Kale salad was fine, but nothing exciting. I also tried some of the Hash Hash with added avocado (a must!), and it was delicious, featuring tender braised beef, refreshing, but not overwhelming horseradish cream, and mild, harmonious seasoning. We shared a side of hummus and pita chips. The pita chips were fried, so of course delicious, but I would have preferred regular pita just to save calories. The hummus, though: Smooth and so light, almost whipped, with a generous drizzle of particularly delicious buttery olive oil, and topping of cilantro dust (!!!). Straight magic. GET THIS. You don't even have to do the pita chips. I dipped my brussels sprouts in there, then unabashedly consumed the remainder by the forkful. Lastly, we shared a caramel coconut chocolate cookie and brownie, and between those two, go for the cookie, though neither was exceptional. In addition to fountain drinks, they offer bottled beverages, including La Colombe Coffee and local Mamachari Kombucha. Yes, guys, yes! Employees were friendly, and we received our food within about five minutes of ordering. They were also quick to remove empty dishes, and on top of wiping down tables and sweeping the floor. The price really is a bit high, not outrageous, but it is easy to end up around $20 per person, and at that point I'd usually prefer more of a sit down style restaurant. Vessel Kitchen felt appropriate when we visited it in PC, and they might have done well to open this location in SLC proper, but on the other hand, there is not anything around this range or dining style in the Fort Union area, so it might all balance out. I like them well enough that I'd be willing to pay the premium on occasion. I can also see the appeal of picking up a to-go order on the way home from work, for a more wholesome family dinner that feels homemade. They actually have some listed on the menu to feed four, from $40-$50, so not a bad deal. Take note, however, I felt the portions, while probably the recommended size, a smidge small. TL;DR - Healthy fast casual restaurant, higher price point, good customer service, pleasant, clean space. Hummus is a must. read more

Fast casual... go down a line and tell them what you want.... I do like the idea of seeing the food. Does it look fresh? Or has it been hanging out for a couple of days? Everything here looked delicious. Instead of creating my own dish, I chose to do the Ahi Tuna meal.. Fresh chopped tuna, 1/2 an avocado, quinoa and carrots. Dressed in a tasty dressing, it tasted fantastic. Everyone else at the table was happy with their meals.. They all said the chicken is amazing. I'll have to try that next time. Fairly quick, a bit pricier than expected, but very satisfying. Will definitely go back and recommend to others when you're in SLC. read more

Our food was good, and good quality. I will pay for quality food. However, I give only three stars because I feel the food was overpriced as the portions were too small. The plates were small and not full by a long shot. The pricing was also too high for cafeteria style service, fast food seating, and self-serve everything else. As with food that is cooked cafeteria style, it is seasoned for the masses. So everything was under seasoned. I don't usually add additional salt to my food if it's seasoned properly. While the food was good, it wasn't good enough to make me return to spend that amount on a fast food experience and tiny portions. read more

Sometimes it's a little tricky when you can't picture what you're ordering so you have to go to their website. Other than that, no complaints. read more

Total surprise! I love this style of restaurant - Build Your Own, walk down the line & pick what you want. I Built My Own Salad with Lemon Dijon Chicken, Kale, & added Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Spicy Fresno Cauliflower, Sweet potato hash and citrus thyme vinaigrette. It was HUGE! I packed up the rest to take home. So did he! He got coconut quinoa rice blend + shredded pork + roasted Brussels & he didn't finish it off either. We also wanted to try the pita bread & hummus - DEFINITELY recommend this. The pita is cut in thick strips, then fried: crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. I'm not a sugary soda person. But I had to order a fountain drink just to try the Stubborn sodas on tap. And they were delicious! The orange hibiscus and lemon berry açaí were my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of them. I got the poke tuna, usually poke bowls are stingy with the meat, but this wasn't. Lots of tuna and plenty of food to fill me up! My sister ordered a side of roasted brussel sprouts and those are worth ordering for sure. Crispy and flavorful! Service was great, it was quiet for a Saturday early afternoon, but as it got busier, it seemed like they handled the extra traffic well. COVID PRACTICES: Masks are required for this restaurant. Wear a mask unless you're eating. Dine in is available with some tables tented off for social distancing. Employees wear masks and gloves to prep food and they wear them properly (aka over the nose AND mouth). I look forward to coming back again! read more

I've been here multiple times and I have enjoyed each time. The food is flavorful, different and creative. It is affordable yet well made so it's kind of a sweet spot for me. I like their style. They use alot of oil in their cooking, which isn't a bad thing, but it is noticeably alot compared to other cooking of similar cuisine. However the food is quite good so I don't really care! They have found a nice niche. They serve high quality, real and well made food for a very reasonable price. Good portions. My wife and I can enjoy a meal there for $30. It's also more on the healthy side. But like I said they cook in alot of oil. They are also very inconsistent. They change their methods alot but it almost is exhausting as a repeat customer. Missed food. Etc. Just not strong quality control. But when they make it good IT IS FRICKIN GOOD I love all their different vegetables. They serve alot of them cold which I find odd. I wish they'd do more hot veggies ot atleast give you the option. Like their broccoli is so frickin good but they serve it cold. Couscous served cold ? That's a travesty. But like it said it is all so darn flavorful that i can see past their odd serving. They really did a good job with having well developed flavors. Their new bavette steak is great. Chicken is good. Their pork and beef can get very dry. I think they should store it in some sort of liquid but they let it sit out on a hot bar which is gonna dry out your meat fast. Get the steak. Delicious every time. I highly reccomend eating here. Go with with open mind. The choice to serve cold veggies and dry meats take off a star. Oh and their doordash service sucks. We've done delivery a few times and we've never gotten the right food. We walkin and just take it to go. Protip. Also the store is dirty. Whoever is charge really sucks at keeping the place clean and wiped down and this is coming coming someone who has been there multiple times and seen the same thing. read more

Normally I like this place, but on my last visit something was off about the quality. I got a salad with shredded chicken and it was full of bone fragments, one of them as large as my thumb nail. And honestly besides that, the flavor was lackluster. Not what I would expect for a $15 salad. I'd skip it, there is less expensive, better food nearby. read more

I'm giving vessel kitchen four stars. They would've gotten five but when we came in on a Saturday at 12 PM all the tables were dirty. I had to go up to the counter to have someone come out and clean them. She did apologize but to walk into a restaurant, early in the day when there were only two other people in there and all the tables be dirty is inexcusable. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful. I will definitely go back there again and I'm hoping the dirty tables was just a one time mistake! read more

I love this concept and wish I had come up with it myself! I love how all of there is something for everyone - vegan, veg, gluten-free, even whole30! The space is beautiful and clean and the food is delicious. Vessel kitchen pretty much makes the foods that I like to make for myself at home, but better and I don't have to dirty any dishes! I went up to the food bar to take a look at all the dishes which really helped me choose what to get. With all the hot/cold side choices, I would recommend getting a visual on the items if you were as torn as I was! I literally wanted to try everything! I got the pulled pork plate with brussel sprouts and the kale and broccoli caesar salad. Everything was delicious and felt clean and healthy. I wish they had an option to add a sauce or dressing to your plate to kind of tie everything together, but even without I loved my order. Also, there was a period of time while we were there that there weren't any menus at the front, which probably delayed the ordering process for those in line. Overall, a really great concept with lots of variety and a fair portion size and price point. Pro-tip: If you're iffy about any item, you can ask for a sample (I'm glad I did for the mac and cheese - it just wasn't up my alley) read more

If you like food that is different you should try this place at least once. However don't be surprised by the appearance, consistency or taste. Food here is not mainstream. I received plenty of one of their most high sellers. It was very filling. I couldn't finish it all. The Restuarant interior is clean, sterile and uncomfortable. Pricing is average. read more

We've been eagerly awaiting this opening, and it did not disappoint!! We've been major fans of the park city location for over a year now, making the drive a few times a month. The food is fresh and simple and so deliciously prepared. We've tried so many things off the menu, and have always been blown away. Tonight we tried the uncle Jesse, the poke tuna, and the hummus and pita strips (an always must!) and our son devoured his Mac and cheese. Vessel kitchen is something I've been missing out for far too long. I knew there was one in park city but I hadn't been until the one in fort union opened by my work. They are also opening one on. Ninth and ninth and another somewhere else. They are blowing up and it's more of an order buffet style and eat your food or get it to go. It's not waiter service so you save money on that way. You can tip if you want and they have kombucha on tap you can get. I love their trio sides of spaghetti squash, grilled corn, and sweet potatoes flavored with grilled onions. You won't be disappointed no matter what your flavor preference is. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options as well as great meat meals for those that need it! read more

Another simple, quick, delicious meal at Vessel Kitchen! I enjoyed having real cutlery available as well as metal water cups. It was rather crowded during this visit. I came to dinner with some old college friends and no tables were available that weren't in direct sunlight. We ended up sitting at the booth, but it was awkward to be talking back and forth. I would like to see shades of some sort be installed to block the sun and make the dining experience more enjoyable for customers. read more

I'm in town for work for a few days and by the time I landed I thought, "well slap my ass and call me Betty, I'm hungry." I took a chance on this place and it was really good. Sitting there in my car waiting for my food because of COVID and the worker who is delivering the food gets in a huge shouting match with one of the customers. Swearing loudly at each other and a fight almost broke out. The customer sped away and when I asked the employee about it he just replied "he has some issues". Well so do you I think for screaming and yelling back at him. Everyone is going crazy because of the pandemic, I'd hope the restaurant employees would be able to keep it together while working. read more
