What a treat this place this! I'm a 30 year old man who loves traditional AMERICAN comfort foods as well as world influences, more robust seasonings and beautiful modern presentation. My first meal of braised beef, brussells sprouts, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes really nailed it for me! Absolutely delicious! We were given such warm and amazing service by Emily. The fresh and modern decor with classic touches of traditional warmth totally compliment the cuisine! Very affordable prices for the portions and quality you get here! I also love the giant Yosemite print on the wall. I would absolutely give this place 5 stars except it one of the noisiest, loudest places I've eaten it. Came in for a late lunch on a Friday. It is a little hard to find, but once you're in the strip mall you can find parking in the parking lot out front or nearby. It was busy but everything was still handled quickly. Inside, we reviewed the menu on the wall and then got in line to order. The sides are all on display and your meal is put together as you go. They were great about answering questions and helping with directions. The drink selection is small but I was able to find something I wanted. They have really great local bakery desserts at the register at the end as well. I missed that they have tea on the counter behind you as well, so a drink menu might be useful. They hand you cafeteria style trays and there is a place to return everything. There are a variety of table sizes and outdoor seating as well. The bathroom was sufficiently clean. We got the chicken, pulled pork, and salmon, and sweet potato and mashed potato and mac and cheese sides. The pulled pork was a little dry, and it was obvious they rely on the sides to spruce it up. The salmon was great! The miso flavor is subtle and allows the sesame to shine through. The ingredients were all fresh and seemed made in house. My dining companion was disappointed by the sweet potato side, but the rest were good. The desserts were great. If I return I will definitely try the Naan tacos. read more

Nice decor and quick service over lunch time. It's open seating but we managed to get a table. I got the plate which is 1 protein and 2 sides. I wanted the roast chicken but they were out so I got the braised beef instead with roots and broccoli as the sides. Everything tasted fresh with some interesting ingredients mixed in. I LOVE Vessel Kitchen and is such a great addition to Midvale. They offer fresh, flavorful, and healthy food. It is near my office and I have had a few days of going there for lunch and dinner. My favorite meal is the Hash Hash, it is so flavorful and filling (I can never eat more than half). I also enjoy getting a plate as their sides are great and the meat is tender (I've only tried the chicken and beef). Another secret of this place is their bone broth. It's only $3.00 per bowl which is fractional compared to most places. It is very high-quality broth too - I was happy when I refrigerated it one night and the next morning it was gelatin. I do think their salads are overpriced, but there are so many other fantastic options that I highly recommend! read more

I am rarely this harsh, but this needs to be said. Save your money and either cook it yourself or buy something else to eat. The quality of the ingredients are extremely wasted by the way the food was prepared and executed. Healthy food can taste good and be healthy; honestly, the cooks need to be replaced. The workers here are great, so I'm not grating on them whatsoever. The place is beautiful, as well. But... Here's the problem: The food is really not worth the expensive price per plate. Veggie and protein, especially protein, portions are tiny. The food tastes extremely bland or too salty, the flavor combinations are strange, and why is there literally so much oil (I'm assuming it's olive oil) on EVERYTHING. Stop drenching your foods in it. Please. The yellowfin tuna and ahi tuna were not fresh and had a fishy taste/smell while biting through. They also cut the fish strangely and some parts were chewy and tough while other parts were softer. Blackened steelhead trout is a no no. $15 a plate and $9 a la cart? Wow. For what is 3 ounces, if that, of dry, burnt fish? That's not okay. Quinoa was so salty and I chewed what sounded like a few pieces of dirt or rock a few times. Off-putting, but I can understand it happens. It was extremely unpleasant to eat though. And your charred veggies were not charred, they were burnt and rubbery... and again, so much olive oil. Braised beef was bland and dry, sauces taste oily and bland, bone broth has way too much oil. Not all of it was horrible - I did like the taste of the couscous, ratatouille (still too much oil), sweet potato hash, and chicken grain bowl. The avocado toast was fine, but there was so much oil drenched in the toast and poured on top of the avocado spread. Overall, I can let the taste and prep pass, but what makes me the most upset is how can you charge so astronomically high for something so poor? If it's supposed to be quality food with the thought of health in mind, I expect exactly that. It doesn't need to be perfect, but at least keep the consumer in mind and not the aesthetics of the dish. read more

This place is just not nearly as fabulous as everyone wants it to be. I love the location and interior. The staff is polite and efficient. Prices are decent. The food though - it's sooooo, just blah! The braised beef was dry. The sweet potato hash was cold and dry, as though it was cooked too long ago. The falafel was decent. The roasted chicken was dry and flavorless The Brussels sprouts were mushy, bland and more bitter than necessary. The mashed potatoes were a little sour and nondescript. Heard about the Park City location and was eager to try when they opened in Midvale. Tried the beet salad and steak option. So much to choose from it's a bit overwhelming if you've never been there since the line is setup to keep things moving quickly. Wasn't impressed with the blandness of the food - Since it's high quality food I'll give it another try. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I was expecting a Greek/Mediterranean themed restaurant before I walked in since that's how Vessel was categorized, but it's more of a fusion between Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean. I ordered the tuna poke bowl which came with snow peas, ahí tuna, avocados, and quinoa. It was healthier than I expected, and was also served cold. The benefit to this is that the food came out very quickly - almost immediately after we sat down with our number. The snow peas were too raw for me, but other than that the bowl was good. I appreciated if for what it was - a raw bowl. read more

Meh... I could do better, I can see where it is a great option for those not inclined to do the cooking. We both had market platters- our favorites were the kale salad and roasted cauliflower. The beef was dry- kind of weird they squoze out all the Marinade, leaving it flavorless and dry. My falafel had good flavor and texture, but needed a side of sauce. The Brussels were pretty good-a bit of a kick and the mashed potatoes were fine. Of course we got extra- beets and Mac-n-cheese- both so so. Other stuff looked good... hard for me to pay the pricey bill, but if you like that sort of thing, you will like it. read more

This location has gone downhill recently. I've been there twice in the last month (had a gift card). The bathrooms were not stocked either time, no toilet paper, trash cans overflowing, and when I mentioned it to the employees, no one addressed it the entire time we were there eating. The area you take your dirty dishes and try to was overflowing both times. None of the tables were clean and the employees were not exactly friendly or welcoming. It wasn't busy either time I went so I was surprised it was a mess. Food was decent, but I'm not sure I will go back to this location. read more

Meh. Just meh. Kinda tasted like airplane food, my mom, sister, and grandma and I genuinely debated on whether or not they got their food from an airplane food supplier. I ordered the lemon feta chicken salad. It came with zero feta and zero lemon flavor anywhere. The chicken was inedible as it was grey, dry, and rubbery. I had about three bites and I was done. Everyone else ordered an assortment of plates with chicken, beef, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, and beets. Mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were okay, but again tasted like they would be served on an airplane. Nobody ate their chicken because it was the same as mine- grey and tasteless and rubbery. The beef was good! I had high hopes for this place because it looks so inviting! It really just wasn't good.. maybe I'll give it another try some other time but probably not. read more

I ordered the Bavette plate through DoorDash delivery. The food arrived quickly but was cold. I heated it in the microwave. The food was almost inedible. Apparently the bavette is just a fancy name for flank steak. Tough steak and it didn't appear as the photo. Sautéed broccoli was also tough. Since I hadn't eaten for seven hours I ate most of the food. Five hours later I had food poisoning. It was the only food that I had eaten in the last 12 hours. I do not recommend this place. Although the protein options for plant-based folks are limited to falafel, they have a BUNCH of great sides to choose from. This use to be a weekly go to for our family. One of the favorites was the princess bride salad and then a variation on that called cream and honey (I think) well they did some new version of that salad and it was never as good as the others. They had it on their menu for awhile and now I see they updated their menu to see all of the salads taken off the menu. We got some take out from there a few nights ago... I got the chicken breast plate only to discover when I got it that it's not the same roast chicken they offered before and instead a rubbery chicken breast. The Brussels sprouts I got with it were lacking flavor, as I usually really enjoy them. Is this place just going downhill and trying to re do everything to save itself? Just tried this place for the first time and WOW. I wish they had more locations! Don't worry about getting take out though, it will totally make the drive home and still be delicious. I started with the the sweet potatoes with caramelized onions and paprika and was not disappointed. They were sweet and savory and exactly what I needed in my life. Along with the sweet potatoes I had some amazingly seasoned brussels sprouts and the best falafels I've had in SLC. Vessel is a great place to get a healthy and delicious meal. Portions are large and prepared well, prices however are a little high. Ordered the Poke Tuna Bowl with quinoa instead of orzo to make it gluten free. This plate is served with a kale & radish salad, a side of smashed avocado and slices of gently pickled ginger. The Poke is cut in larger pieces than I have seen before and coated with a light soy and ginger dressing. Also ordered three falafel in addition to the bowl. Falafel are prepared well and have a nice crispy outside and are tender and flavorful inside. All of the ingredients are fresh and delicious with just the right amount of seasoning. Dining area and restaurant are clean and tidy, ordering is simple, quick and friendly, and the staff is helpful and accommodating. Overpriced and Mediocre food. I love mediterranean food so when I saw there was a "fast food" mediterranean place here, I got excited. I thought this would be like CAVA which is like a build your own mediterranean place i love in Austin TX, where I am from. This place is SO INFERIOR to that. Not only were the flavors just eh, but you paid a lot and had very limited selection for building your bowl; only one veggie and one sauce for example. Other places I have gone designed like this, Chipotle for example or CAVA, you aren't as limited. I would definitely not go back or recommend it. I got the shredded chicken with israel couscous and broccoli with the aioli. I'm very disappointed. Doesn't even come with a side of pita; you are charged extra for that. read more
