What a hidden gem! This is a small, cozy restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and some of the most authentic, delicious food I've had in a long time. I ordered the fish tacos and a cucumber lemonade, and both were outstanding. The lemonade was incredibly refreshing and hit the spot perfectly. The fish tacos were crispy, flavorful, and served with several different condiments that allowed you to customize each bite and add even more flavor. The chips and salsa were also fresh and delicious. One thing to note is that the parking lot is small and was completely packed when we arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon. However, we were still able to find parking and get a table surprisingly fast despite the crowd. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere made for a great experience. Had Del Barrio Cafe for the first time and came away impressed. We ordered the Birria Tacos, Cheesy Asada Tacos, Cheesy Pastor Tacos, a Chorizo Taco, along with a Mangonada Lemonade and a Cucumber Lemonade. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. They start you off with chips and salsa, which is always appreciated. Just know that the first basket is complimentary and any additional baskets come with a charge. Of everything we tried, the Cheesy Pastor Tacos were the clear standout. The birria, asada, and chorizo were all good, but the pastor tacos stole the show. Next time I'll probably skip the variety and just order those. The only thing that caught us off guard was the seating policy. They wouldn't seat our table until everyone in the party had arrived, even though the people we were waiting for were literally pulling into the parking lot. Some of the best tacos I've had in a long time! We stopped in here while on a work trip and I was pleasantly surprised. We were there on a Tuesday around 6pm and we were seated quickly and service was fast and friendly. It is a tight space, but we got lucky without a wait! The guac was good, chips were delicious, and tacos were incredible. While they don't serve alcohol, they do have very authentic Mexican food with great service. Highly recommend coming here! I got the birria tacos and I was so excited they were some of the best Birria tacos I have had. I loved that they also had options for birria enchiladas and much more. We came with a larger party of 6 people and they accommodated us easily. There is parking in the back of the restaurant. This is a sit down restaurant! This place was amazing. I just went for a coffee while my partner got lunch and both were absolutely delicious!! The service is immaculate. They were SUPER busy on a TUESDAY for lunch. It was reservation after reservation. We just happened to stumble upon this place while waiting for our car to be out of the shop and do not regret a thing!! Starr is extremely friendly and accommodating. As said before, they were super busy and my partner and I had just been sitting there talking for a while to kill some time. The birria is muy excellente!!! The beef is tender. The consommé supplements without being intrusive. I just love the texture of the crispy cheese. The habanero lemonade was fun to drink. Update - I'm staying with 5 stars, but my review has changed. Since we last went they've added a new menu item. Cheesy pastor tacos. These are 100% 5/5 tacos. Last time we were able to have cheesy pastor tacos this good was at El Fogón in Playa del Carmen. The birria tacos this time were not nearly as good. Finally one of our recent stops at a SLC establishment paid off and really impressed us. Our entire group loved this place! The restaurant is pretty small, but inside it's warm and comfortable, with good service and delicious, home-cooked and authentic Mexican food. But it's the tacos here that really blew our minds. Cheesy asada was the best we tried, with some serious flavor, thick with beef and ooey gooey cheese. The asada was cooked perfectly, juicy and so tender. The provided guacamole with it on the side was the perfect addition. It was one of the best tacos I've had in recent memory. The cheesy al pastor was also very good, with tender chunks of pork, a pretty tasty marinade, and full of pineapple chunks. The (quesa) birria wasn't bad either, meat a little bit too tough, but flavor was very good. I'd suggest paying $2 more and getting consommé to dip in for any of their a la carte quesa tacos. And their salsas, red and green, were yummy on top. Tortilla chips with salsa before our meal were thick, seasoned, and complimentary, salsa just pretty good (thin). It can get busy here and the parking in back kinda sucks. But it's worth the wait. We checked out a lot of reviews before visiting Del Barrio Cafe, and they all were very positive, for the most part. So I was excited! Parking is kind of weird, and it's hard to get in and out of the place, so be prepared for that. The place is definitely on the smaller side, and it had a lot of people when we got there, so we had to wait about 45 minutes, which is fine - just means it's popular! We tried the Birria and El Pastor tacos, and the flavor was good, I will say that, but they were so greasy. I just didn't realize how everything was basically going to be double deep-fried - very, very greasy food. That said, it did taste good. The amount we got for the price was ok, but I wouldn't say great. The waiters were really friendly, though, and they kept our drinks refilled. I had to knock off a couple stars, because I felt like I might have a coronary after leaving this place. And I was so surprised that other reviewers didn't mention this aspect at all. So anyway, be prepared for some very greasy food, and a long walk afterward to burn it all off. Or if you don't care about what you put in your body, by all means, indulge!! read more

The parking lot is a nightmare and if you go at the wrong time you might end up waiting for a while. That said, worth. it. Del Barrio hits all my favorite things. Chips are thick, which is my favorite. I will argue the birria is the best in the valley. Maybe your mom makes better but I don't have an invite to her house, so Del Barrio gets the win. From the outside, Del Barrio may not look like much-and if your GPS is like mine, it will take you to the neighboring car lot and leave you there-but once you find the right place, prepare for some tasty tacos. As others have said, this is a small joint-I've had more people at one time in my house for Thanksgiving dinner than I think could fit here-so come at non prime time for quicker seating. It's cool to be so close to the action, but for some it might be a little overwhelming. I enjoyed an order of Yucatan Pork tacos and they were fabulous. I especially appreciate that they are not smothered in different toppings-everything is on the side, so for plainists like myself, we can enjoy the pure taco without any distractions. Because the place is so small and table space is precious, I did feel a little rushed to leave after finishing my meal. My dining partner and I were enjoying conversation, but felt bad taking a table, so we left before we might have been ready to. So don't plan on this being a place that you linger longer.
