I've been back here twice since I first reviewed this place. Birria tostadas 10/10, birria tacos 10/10, cheesy pastor tacos 10/10. Green apple lemonade is DELICIOUS, and made w fresh green apples.

This is the place I have dreams about! Del Barrio is a little sit down restaurant with a whole and delicious menu! I got the birria tacos and I was so excited they were some of the best Birria tacos I have had. I loved that they also had options for birria enchiladas and much more. They also had tons of lemonades which was fun and they had horchata! Our waiter was so nice and she was fast! They also gave us chips and salsa and I would come back just for those they were delicious! Overall, I will be coming back! The experience was so nice and the food was incredible!

This food is UNREAL!!!! I don't want to rave too much cause this place is small and I like it like that! It's so good it feels like it should be a secret. We came with a larger party of 6 people and they accommodated us easily. There is parking in the back of the restaurant. This is a sit down restaurant! It doesn't look like that from the outside but it is and it's delicious. I will be coming back very often. They have really delicious tacos burritos and enchiladas and more. They also have amazing lemonades and mocktails. I highly recommend the green apple lemonade. For food the cheesy tacos Al pastor are special and a must get.

Amazing tacos!!!! I had the al pastor, birria, and carne asada tacos. They were all my favorite. I enjoyed each bite. The condiments with the tacos pair perfectly. The guacamole is so delicious! All three salsas were so good! I can't wait to come back to try more things, but I may end up ordering the same thing since it was so good. The service was not the best. Our waiter was not the most attentive. If you're in a rush, this probably isn't the best place for a fast lunch. The restaurant is very small, so you may need to wait for a table/booth.

The birria is muy excellente!!! The beef is tender. The consommé supplements without being intrusive. I just love the texture of the crispy cheese. The habanero lemonade was fun to drink. It had a nice kick that got me at the back of my throat. Delicious. Everything I try here is so good! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Update - I'm staying with 5 stars, but my review has changed. Since we last went they've added a new menu item. Cheesy pastor tacos. These are 100% 5/5 tacos. Last time we were able to have cheesy pastor tacos this good was at El Fogón in Playa del Carmen. The birria tacos this time were not nearly as good. The consume was just alright and the beef was a bit dry. We were pretty disappointed with them and would definitely just come back for the cheesy pastor tacos. Still great service and chips with salsa!

Holy smokes. This place rocks. I've been several times and am never disappointed. Hands down best fish tacos in Utah. The breading is so flavorful yet light and I love all the toppings. I also always get their rice and beans. So yum, and the chips and salsa are to die!

Did not expect to love this place as much as I did! The restaurant is small on the inside but actually has plenty of tables/booths to sit at. Our waiter was great! He continued to check in on how we were doing and kept our waters filled. Very friendly too :) The food is incredible. We ordered the asada cheesy tacos and the Birria cheesy tacos. Absolutely amazing! Lots of flavor and cooked to perfection. Can't wait to try more things on the menu!

Aye carumba! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Found it about a year ago and have had them cater a party too. Tres tacos today - pastor con pineapple, chicken ticka and a chorizo. Love the way they from them on the grill to get them extra hot and cheesy from the outside in. As simple as it sounds, their chips are the best around. They could be a meal unto themselves! Servers are always working hard. Food comes out fast. I love State Street places like this.

This place is dope, little hole in the wall. It's a sit down, casual Mexican place with your usual suspects, but the tacos are what they're known for. I had the chorizo and al pastor tacos, and they were excellent. The tortillas are made in house, and chorizo wasn't greasy, the al pastor was amazing. You have to get that. The horchata was ok. A little thin.

I was skeptical about the quality of Mex cuisine here but the birria tacos and chips and salsa were great. We really enjoyed our first visit while visiting SLC. It was a recommendation from a local friend. The place was full when we arrived but we were seated and served promptly. The service was really friendly and personable. Overall highly recommend.

So glad we ran into this little hole in the wall. Not much to expect from the outside but once you get in, there are plentiful delicious options. We tried the barria tacos (look like taco version of a French dip) and the cheesy pastor. Both were good but the cheesy might be a bit better. Want to come back and try the other dishes!!!

This is one of those hole in the wall gems. I wish it had more seating but that seems to add to the rarefied feeling of it. Fantastic food, especially their famous tacos. Food came quick, service was great.

It was good but I'm not sure it was worth being packed in like a sardine. It was very loud and I kept bumping the neighbor's table.

The restaurant has limited parking! Tiny! Parking is a joke! There is maybe 6-7 parking spaces on the east side. Maybe 2-3 at the back of the building, which is one way. It limits the ability to drive around the back of the building. There are two parking spaces on the west side of the building. I have seen cars get totally stuck, people yelling and getting upset. If you have a large vehicle, I would not even try to drive around the building. I would drive south of the restaurant and park at the whitmore library's parking lot, and walk over. Service is okay. Ordering is cramped, and if there's a line you're standing at the back of the restaurant right next to people sitting eating. It's uncomfortable. During the summer there is seating inside and outside, but during high times you have to wait for a table! During the winter there are 12 tables, most of which are room for 2 people, four tables for 4 people, 5 if you can fit. This restaurant is SO popular, they really need to move to a larger building! Unfortunately I kind of wish I didn't. We tried the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, Carne Adovada Burrito, nachos with shredded beef, and horchata. The dish with the most flavor was the nachos. I'd give that dish a 4. The horchata was pretty good too. Definitely above average horchata. But the rest of the dishes didn't have enough flavor, even after adding salsa from their salsa bar. This was pretty disappointing and we wished we had picked a different restaurant for lunch.

The cook makes the food, hands you the food, you add all the toppings you wish (without judgment), and can go back inside the restaurant (unless you grab the wrong door and end up at the barber) to sit at a table or wherever you wish to eat. I got to select however many meats with no toppings and was pain free for the rest of the day (conclusion for me: no additives triggered a wobbly digestion in response). Everything looked and smelled fresh. Ambiance: bit bare inside, definitely not cozy. But if you are there to get food and eat it, it should be good enough.
