This is an odd service but it's acceptable especially since their foods are impeccably delicious! You order and pay inside, then take your bill outside around the corner to the food cart. The cook makes the food, hands you the food, you add all the toppings you wish (without judgment), and can go back inside the restaurant (unless you grab the wrong door and end up at the barber) to sit at a table or wherever you wish to eat. I got to select however many meats with no toppings and was pain free for the rest of the day (conclusion for me: no additives triggered a wobbly digestion in response). Everything looked and smelled fresh. Ambiance: bit bare inside, definitely not cozy. But if you are there to get food and eat it, it should be good enough. read more

I don't know how long this taco stand has been here, but I think it's been forever. Ha ha. I've heard from other people that have visited it over the years, and it seems to be a staple on the popular Midvale street. It's a cash-only establishment, and the prices are so low that you'll easily be able to have a nice meal for whatever you've got in your wallet. I enjoyed two tacos-a beef and a chicken, both absolutely amazing. The flavor is great, the tortillas are warm and fresh-everything about it is great. If you're looking for authentic street tacos and don't mind eating in your car or in the parking lot, this is a fantastic option. Delicious tacos were catered by this restaurant at a graduation party we attended. Wonderfully made tacos, can't stop at just a few, I tried the pork, the chicken, but the carne asada was the best! All the fixins were also offered, Chile/salsa, cabbage filler, peppers, cilantro, cheese, lime, and red & green sauce. Homemade and full of flavor. I'm not sure how much it was to have the little taco trailer to come, but I'd dare say it was totally worth it. The leftover meat and tortillas were left with the hosts. Nice worker cooking the meat. I went looking for this place and wound up at the other spot I wrote a lovely review on but anyways I finally had the chance to try it today and it was like I've been waiting all my life to try it (it is the cabeza) I was in love with the fatty head meat! I definitely concur with all the five star reviews; these tacos are REALLY good. While I enjoyed the carnitas and carne asada, I thoroughly enjoyed the pastor (seasoned pork) and cabeza (beef head/cheek) tacos. The flavor in the pastor is like nothing I've ever experienced, quite possibly my new favorite, and the cabeza was fatty, tasty, and so, so tender! Another thing: recently, I've stopped putting condiments on tacos, except for carnitas. I find that the meat and tortillas are the flavors I crave. Anyone else feel the same way? Very good, cheap, and quick tacos. I drive by here all the time and finally decided to give this taco cart a whirl. I ordered two chicken, carne asada, and spicy pork tacos. I loaded each taco with toppings as sauces -- the green sauce was my favorite and the hot sauce was HOT! My favorite was the carne asada taco, it had very nice flavors. Being from the east coast, this taco stand surpasses all my experiences with the taco food truck industry. These tacos are so so good, I have to have them two times a week. It really satisfies all my cravings and you can't just have uno, I got to get like 4 tacos. I do the trifecta of beef, pork and chicken. I don't even add any sauces to them. They have a spicy pickled onion, some limes and the pic are all you ever need on these tacos. I just can't stop talking about them and craving them. Mexican food cart near Old Town Midvale. Don't be confused, there's another one about a block west of here. On a windy day you could probably spit and hit one from the other. But this is the one further east. Last I checked, the fella who owns this actually owns this cart and one up on State Street at 3 Alarm Saloon. The umbrella is "Tacos El Pariente" and the names on the carts can be "El Cuñado" or "El Pariente." But they all have big white signs with red writing showing the menu and prices. I can't say that anything really stood out for me on this cart. I've eaten here a couple of times and never been disappointed, but it's just pretty straight forward. Boo for charging $4 for burritos and not $3 like my faves near Sears in SLC proper. Still, for $4 you're probably doing just fine. Big bonus is that they're open pretty late. At least until 10pm, sometimes on the weekend I see them there later. And they're nice enough and will sit and chat if you've got a second. No place to sit down, so it's hover fare for sure. Get a taco fix on the cheap if you're nearby. Solid Mexican basics produced from this cart. read more

The meat for all the tacos was unseasoned and really really oily. When I say early I mean my hands was dripping oil and the plate was filled up. Never in my life have I ever had El Pastor like that, super oily, gray in color and BURNT- Worst of all. Nothing better than biting into a taco for a mouthful of char. Really this place has hit rock bottom. I've seen the slow decline for the past few months, and now they've resorted to serving left overs (including el pico de gallo, expiring in the BAGS). There was aluminum pieces in our meat, Ive never been so disgusted. I will NEVER come back, get a better experience a little down the street at el Pariente. Or starve- that would've been preferable then biting into oil and burnt char. Never. Again. Wish I could mention one tasty thing- I can't. The best carne asada and cabeza tacos I've ever had at a taco truck. These tacos are out of this world, the meat is tender and juicy and the tortillas were perfectly cooked (not too soggy, just enough crisp). I was stunned to find such quality meat at only $1.25 per taco. I didn't try any of the other meats but if they were anything like the carne asada or cabeza then you can't go wrong. For the tacos alone, this place deserves 5 stars, but I had to take one away for two things. 1. Both salsa offerings (green and red) were so spicy that it almost made the taco inedible. For someone who loves spicy food these salsas were too much, and unfortunately there was no medium or mild salsa offering. 2. The price of tacos and burritos are more expensive than any other taco truck. $6 dollars for quesadillas and $7 dollars for burritos. Definitely stick to ordering tacos. Best taco cart in the valley. They have been guests at school events I have held for the last ten years. Not only is their food delicious, they believe in giving back. I have attempted to hire them for catering meals for teachers several times. They always came through with the tacos but refused to accept a dime. Finally, after feeling the spirit of one of our events, the owner came back with her cart and family a few weeks later to provide free tacos to all 500 students and staff members. Give them a try. I've had their al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, and buche. Buche is intestine and it's not as bad as it sounds, it even comes a little crispy. i heard that extra crispy can be requested. The parking lot needs to be re-asphalted. No where to sit unless you want to sit in your car or on the ground along side Team Gear's building. Lemons slices were unlimited (despite high prices); at Pariente, it's given to you. Yum! The flavors in their meat options (especially chicken) were far better than the three previous taco carts I've tried. Their tacos are $1.25 so a quarter more expensive than the others, everything else is the same priced. The biggest downfall to their success - their cooler side/taco toppings are disgustingly sad. They don't look or taste fresh, and they don't carry the same characteristics of what my preferred taco cart has set for my expectations. However, their salsas are HOT. And four other people with me said the same thing. We loved it but just be careful when you go to squirt it all over your decisions. read more

I come to this taco stand on average about once every 2 weeks and it has never disappointed me. I used to only get the tacos but I recently tried their burrito and it was also amazing! Jeffrey S. said they are $4 but I have been paying $5 for the burrito (I guess they raised the price in the past year) but it is still worth it because the burritos are gigantic. I've tried their carne asada, pollo, and their al pastor but I saw someone order buche (intestine) and chicharron (pig skin) the other day and I want to go back and try those! The prices here are more expensive than the taco stand downtown and the salsa is a little too spicy for me but I still come back to this stand because it is much closer to me than the downtown one. read more

Excellent tacos! I don't really like to eat from taco trucks/food stands because of hygienic trust issues but this stand has excellent carne asada tacos (it was worth the risk and I didn't get sick!) I also tried the carnitas but it was a little too "porky" tasting if you know what I mean. Service was excellent as well. My husband was the one that went to pick them up but he said the lady was really friendly and it was snowing! Making delicious tacos in the snow for starving people, that's dedication. I love this taco truck!!! Me and my husband actually has them cater our rehearsal dinner for our wedding everyone loved it! And it was nice cause everyone from out of state could drink at our family's home and have a bbq with out cooking. They Set up the hole taco truck and you could go back for as much as you wanted! We go here all the time. The lady's who make the food are really nice and fast with your food! The pastor is great and the carnitas! I love the cara asada! I have tried thE chicken and it is really good but I like the other meats better but that is just my preference. We go there a lot, And me and my husband eat for less than 20 dollars so it is great. Wow... I was not expecting to have such a great burrito in Utah. Seriously, this was better mexican than taco trucks in Orange County. I got the cabeza meat mixed with all the other meat (al completo) since they were low on cabeza. Meat was so tender and very flavorful. You get to put whatever you want and they will wrap it for u. The red and green sauces were delicious too. Watch out for the jalapeños, they will burn your mouth! My hubby said his tacos were really good too, and totally satisfied his authentic taco craving. The only reason this isn't five stars is because it was a bit more expensive than I am used to paying at taco trucks. read more

Taco carts are where you go to feel like you're being more authentic. I haven't really been to a BAD taco cart. It's kind of hard to mess up carne asada tacos honestly. This place, just like most other taco carts, is pretty good. They even have rice and beans which is a staple I see often lost on other carts. I feel the best way to judge a taco cart isn't even on their tacos or burritos, but on the beauty of their salsa coolers. This one was unique in that they had two different kinds of grilled onions, grilled jalapenos, and of course the staples of cabbage, pico de gallo, and 4 salsas in squeeze bottles. I went for the green one and it was pleasantly spicy. Spicier than I anticipated and I was appreciative of that. Also strategically located next to a soccer supply store. So leave work, come grab a taco and eat it standing up in a parking lot outside. It's the Mexican/American dream. read more

Yep, I have a taco addiction. Desperate addicts do desperate things and buying food from a food cart is either brave or the move of a man desperate for tacos. Whatever the reason I find myself coming here every couple of weeks or so. The al pastor is good but not great. The carne asada however is the best in town. The steak tender in the middle with a little crispy char on the outside. These tacos are a buck each and they ain't skinny boy tacos, they're loaded. The salsa cooler is always well stocked and fresh. The only reason i knocked off a star is because when I want tacos I typically want tacos al pastor and they're just ok here. read more
