They were $3 when we visited, which wasn't a huge deal, but the al pastor itself was. I looked behind the counter at the trompo and it was probably the smallest, driest, most burnt-looking al pastor spit I've ever seen. It wasn't even rotating. After seeing that, I had zero interest in ordering it. Trying to order something else wasn't much better. You're supposed to order from a tablet, but the options didn't seem to match the menu displayed in the restaurant. We wanted to try the Chingon and couldn't even figure out where to find it on the tablet. I asked one of the employees how to order it and was told to talk to the cashier. When I found the him and asked if he was the cashier, his response was literally, "I don't have time for you right now." He went back to what he was doing and then started socializing again. It wasn't even particularly busy, so that was pretty much our cue to leave. Luckily, Salt Lake City has plenty of taco options, and we ended up having a much better experience somewhere else.

The menu is quite varied with many selections of traditional Mexican prepared foods, including street style tacos, soups, sandwiches, enchiladas, burritos, etc. I've had their tacos on a previous occasion, and they were tasty and filled with lots of meat. On my most recent visit, I decided to try their Torta Cubano, a sandwich which is not very similar to the Cuban sandwiches I've had in other places. But that's not to say I didn't like it. It was a bit more expensive than some of the other tortas, but, perhaps this is accounting for the three types of meat or meat products found inside: a breaded steak cutlet, pulled pork and a special surprise, a frankfurter style hot dog on top of it all. There's also refried beans, melted cheese, avocado, onion, tomato and lettuce. It was so big I could only eat half of the Torta. While ordering, I noticed a great selection of Mexican style drinks, all freshly made and such a nice change from the ubiquitous soda fountain drinks that seem to be the only choice in most restaurants. I ordered a cactus drink, made from, I assume nopales or prickly pear fruit. The seeds in the drink are included for free! It was very refreshing and must be more nutritious than the chemicals and sugar in most sodas. I must say that although the eating area in this restaurant is pretty tired and may not appeal to some for a dine in experience, the take out option could be a good choice. The variety of selections, good quality ingredients and flavor of the food make it a good choice for a hearty lunch or dinner.

I ain't ever seen one of these let alone had or tasted one but the homie said it was bomb so I said what the heck. I got one and it was bomb!
