My husband got a bacon and chorizo breakfast burrito. When we got them I couldn't believe my eyes. These burritos are HUGE. honestly... too big... As mentioned, very scary parking lot. I was actually nervous to eat inside because I was concerned my car would get broken into. Drug transaction going on and and and... I'm from arizona and spent 43 years there until recently moving to utah. So, I have very high standards. Place busy with all Spanish speaking customers. Some Of the soups and family meals looked legit. I got staples hard shell beef taco which is hard to find in salt lake and a pork tamale which is even more rare to find here. Tamale had little meat as did the taco but flavored well. Hard shell had some crunch but also soggie. By utah standards it's better than most... by Arizona standards a little below average but I'd come back and try more when I'm home sick. read more

I was excited to try their Menudo, I didn't think the serving was going to be so big. I'm not complaining at all, totally got my money's worth and it was delicious. I also got the breakfast tacos, which is the steak and eggs. Also, a pretty large serving. Came with beans and rice. We had the strawberry tamale which was excellent, the hickey humid hangs which was very good with delicious big pieces of moist chicken filling it, and the nachos which were tasty but nothing special. There is a yummy salsa bar. Not the cleanest place but the food was pretty yummy and we didn't get sick so there is that. We will be back for sure. We had no idea what to expect with the strawberry tamale it was so good not overly sweet you should just give it a try it's so inexpensive that if you don't love it like we did no loss. Came here 7/3. I wanted to try the Menudo. I was a little let down. For $10, I just expected to have great menudo. It was bland, didn't have any garnishments, the tripe was not tender at all and it didn't have any Hominy! I was so dissatisfied. My previous reviews have always been so positive but this was horrible. Way overpriced. It's just not worth it. On a positive note I enjoyed the flour tortillas more. I'm not going to waste the Menudo because I did spend $10 on this small soup. So off I go to Winco to buy a can of hominy, limes and garnishments. Would I still come here again? Yes but not anytime soon. Would I order the Menudo again? Absolutely not! read more

Rainy day breakfast burrito--that was the allure. Rather than being a fat, stuffed thing, it was shaped more like a torpedo. Not too skinny, but it used the full burrito shell for length. I opted for chorizo as the meat, and that was as good as choice as any. Add the eggs and potatoes (neither too chunky) and it was completely satisfactory. There's a drive-thru, and that may be the better option. It was absolutely frigid inside (it didn't help that I was soaked from the rain) so I took mine to go. Load up at the salsa bar if you go in; that may be incentive to park instead of drive-thru. There are other things than breakfast burritos, but the bonus here is that they serve breakfast burritos all day. The sign out front says they're only $2.99, but the fine print indicates that's a Monday and Tuesday only deal. Are there other things besides burritos? Ya, but I think I'll stick with the burritos for now. read more

Delicious carne asada chimichanga with a healthy amount of guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, salsa verde on the side, silky beans, and rice; came with a medium soda. The portion size is good for a couple days, but having fresh ingredients makes it difficult to tie over. So I ate all the veg and now I have half a chimi, beans and rice. I appreciate the extra 3 small containers of salsa verde on the side, that gives the chimi more flavor on the subsequent sitting(s). One of the best drive thru Mexican restaurants I've been to out here in SLC. I come here for the hot breakfast plates like the Nopales con huevos plate (cooked cactus with eggs & lots of flavor) with rice and beans. Their rice is always well cooked with the perfect flavor. The beans are delicious and way less salty than rancherito's. I order a bunch of green sauce on the side & i'm good to go. I also love their carne asada burrito. I like to add rice and beans to it for a few extra bucks. Totally worth it. Their hours are pretty open. I believe the drive through is open late until 12am. I'm a fan and will prefer this place over any of the other mediocre franchise drive thru Mexican restaurants out here. read more

This place is a gift from the heavens! It looks like a little tiny dump from the outside, but the menu selections are wonderful, the service is great, and the food is amazing! This place is a hidden gem, and it is my faborite place to eat when I am staying in the southern half of the Salt Lake city area, and best, it has great breakfast offerings, and great offerings for lunch, and also great offerings for dinner! Best of all, they seem to make all their own sauces and salsas on the premises! BTW, the seating area is surprisingly spacious, with lots of tables, in case you might be planning on eating at the facility. (I usually ordered food to go, which I then took back to my hotel, where I ate what I could and then stuffed the plentiful leftovers in the fridge for later treats!
