We saw the huge al pastor rotisserie and thought nothing would top that, but all options were truly excellent. The guac, tortillas, and agua frescas were also top-notch. This al pastor is some of the best anywhere! It's cut off of a vertical el trompo spit with a tasty redish marinade, tender chunks of pork, super good. The best way I've enjoyed it is inside a Vampiro, stuffed and overflowing with meat for around $6 each. It's basically a mulita instead between two cracker crispy tortillas. I also tried one of their Tijuana-style street tacos, their asada, average in size, meat with good flavor, and smothered in guacamole. I liked it, but not worth $3 each. The public knows about the quality of this place, so it can be hard to get a table. But they have a lot of staff so food usually doesn't take too awfully long, though cooked fresh. They aren't too into customer service here, just get you in and get you out. It's fast casual, so order at the counter. Their little patio right next to the parking lot has clean tables. And they have a nice salsa bar, so load up on that yummy creamy (and lil spicy) orange salsa. I'll definitely be a regular. read more

The meat is SOOOOO good! The carne asada is also muy excellente! I just love the presentation, the ingredients, the flavors--everything is excellent. I enjoy their horchata and limonade. I always say "Si!" when they ask if I want the onions and peppers. They are grilled onions and jalapeno peppers and they are SO good! Served in a paper tray. I've been here four or five times. Consistently good. Service is quick. Ambiance is a busy cafe, crowded, you probably share a long table with others. There is outdoor seating, which is always full because every time I've been there, it has been packed. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. These were the best tacos I've had in Salt Lake. I got the al pastor, suadero, and chorizo tacos, and they all were incredible, but, of course, chorizo was my favorite. Favorite Taco joint in the greater Salt Lake area, taking the throne from Chungas (also wonderful) but if you like crispy, smoky Al Pastor with fiery red salsa, this is your place. The food here is REALLY good. The only issue is they don't really have any vegetarian options. I was able to get a cheese quesadilla & it was a great quesadilla and the guacamole was good as well. The tripe tacos were flavored well and nice and crunchy. The tacos de Lengua were also good, but I was disappointed with the tacos de carne asada. They failed with the seasoning, they were very bland. I added salt and pepper and it helped. They were flavorless. I'll go back just to see if they were off today. Even the lobby takes WAY too long. I came in at 11am once and was one of only a few customers in the restaurant. My food somehow took 20 minutes AND they got the order wrong. When I ordered I help up two fingers and said "dos" while I looked her in the eye to indicate how many I wanted. Only one vampiro arrived. This place is extremely lively and was packed even into the late night hours. Upon walking in, you should expect the peppers (actively being cooked) to hit you like a ton of bricks. I do appreciate how they have outdoor seating, partially for this reason. I tried three different tacos - the carne asada, a pastor, and chorizo. They did not have chicken, or I would have tried that. The chorizo (10/10) was absolutely outstanding, which was surprising to me because that is usually my last favorite. The flavor on this chorizo though was outstanding. I also liked the carne asada (8/10), but it did not quite knock me out the way the chorizo did. The most amazing tacos I've had in Utah, possibly ever. I went at 10pm on a Thursday and the place was packed. And although the parking lot is well sized it was full. There was a line to the door but this place is efficient and moves quickly. The menu isn't huge and they do everything so well. We got Al pastor, chorizo, and asada. The Al pastor is cooking on display and so flavorful, the chorizo has a nice little crunch, and the asada had a surprising smokiness.
