Some of the best tacos I've had, anywhere. All of the meats we tried (al pastor, carne asada, chorizo) were incredible. We saw the huge al pastor rotisserie and thought nothing would top that, but all options were truly excellent. The guac, tortillas, and agua frescas were also top-notch. There's a salsa bar with several options, one of which had a nice heat! My husband recommends the quesadillas too. It's busy, crowded, and loud- we felt lucky to grab a couple spots at the counter- but things move quickly, and we didn't see anyone waiting too long for food. Will definitely return!

Asada and Al pastor tacos. Best Al pastor I've ever tasted!

This has got to be one of The Best tacos in the valley. No, I haven't tried every single taco in the valley, of course. And since I've only lived here for five months, I'm definitely a newbie. But I can definitely stand by my statement. Let me explain... I just moved from Tucson, Arizona. You know...Tucson? Mexican food utopia? Tucson is the first North American city to be named by UNESCO as a Gastronomic Capital of the World. Yep. Mostly for its wide variety and quality of Mexican food, Tucson has an incredible array of cultures represented in restaurant cuisine. I've been a Yelp Elite there for 13 years. I have eaten at a lot of tacos from restaurants and the dynamic food truck scene there. I had my doubts moving here that I would find any good Mexican food. Tacos Lopez has the best al pastor that I've ever had in my life! You read that right. I knew that I was at the right place. I arrived five minutes to closing. It was still busy and bustling with business. Shoot, it was party time there. There was no English being spoken in the restaurant. Yes, I'm at the right place. The tacos are Tijuana style. The meat is SOOOOO good! The carne asada is also muy excellente! I just love the presentation, the ingredients, the flavors--everything is excellent. I enjoy their horchata and limonade. I always say "Si!" when they ask if I want the onions and peppers. They are grilled onions and jalapeno peppers and they are SO good! Served in a paper tray. I've been here four or five times. Consistently good. Service is quick. Ambiance is a busy cafe, crowded, you probably share a long table with others. There is outdoor seating, which is always full because every time I've been there, it has been packed. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

They have the best al pastor tacos I've tried anywhere. The efficiency of their line, cleanliness, and ordering process could be vastly improved. 5/5 for food, 3/5 for the experience.

These were the best tacos I've had in Salt Lake. I got the al pastor, suadero, and chorizo tacos, and they all were incredible, but, of course, chorizo was my favorite. So much flavor and juiciness--unlike anything else I've had in Utah so far. I'm so glad my office is 5 minutes away, but I will probably lose a lot of money for lunchtime taco runs. The restaurant doesn't have too much room for the amount of business they get, but they do also have covered tables outside which is a nice option as well. The staff are all friendly, and will gladly get you anything you need. The tacos came out fast and fresh. They run a tight ship and are worthy of all the hype and more! Go get some tacos NOW.

Everything is top tier every time. The al pastor is especially incredible! It's flavorful and I always get 5 tacos. They are that good. The ambiance is authentic and the service is very kind! The seating is hard when it's busy but it's worth it even if you take it to go!

Unbelievably great Al Pastor but oh those onions. Do NOT plan a business meeting next morning if you partake. I learned the hard way!

Favorite Taco joint in the greater Salt Lake area, taking the throne from Chungas (also wonderful) but if you like crispy, smoky Al Pastor with fiery red salsa, this is your place. The location feels new and fresh and has plenty of seating both indoor and out. Being from Las Vegas (and LA before that), it's always been amazing to me how many great choices there are in SLC and hunting them down one by one has been a great hobby of mine when in UT for business. That said, Tacos Lopez was off the chart if you are looking for epic Al Pastor. The tacos were stuffed with meat, you can watch them slice the pork right off the Trompo and based on the crowd that was there, I'm definitely a fast follower as it seems to be well attended, but the line moves fast and the service was great. I can hardly wait to go back but one quick word of warning for those like me on business, I thought it would be no problem to eat Al Pastor tacos with all the onions and hot sauce, etc. the night before my business meetings but when I woke up, I was horrified!! All I tasted was onions and I must have brushed my teeth and tongue 3x over and swallowed every breath mint with 10 miles before I felt even remotely safe meeting my customers. Eek - that was nightmare fuel!! Word of warning for the suit and tie crowd LOL!! Still, completely worth it for the phenomenal food! (if in Vegas and you want a similar experience, try Tacos El Guero (not Gordo))

Still the best tacos I've had in UT. The place stays busy for a reason! Really the only things I get here are the tripe and lengua tacos. So good. And you can get the tripe soft or crispy, depends on your mood. Come here for tacos if you're in the area!

    Asado, suadero, al pastor, buche

For the amount of love and attention these guys receive, they know how to keep up the pace with their service! This place serves amazing authentic tacos and runs like a well oiled machine. The Al pastor and asado were our favorites but everything we tried was delicious (buche, lengua, cabeza, and suadero among the others.) the salsa bar doesn't offer mild options which I don't mind but it's something for others to be aware of. The cooked onions and jalapeños offered with your food are an awesome touch!

The food here is REALLY good. The only issue is they don't really have any vegetarian options. I was able to get a cheese quesadilla & it was a great quesadilla and the guacamole was good as well. Husband liked both the tacos he got as well. We will definitely be back, but would love to see some more veggie options.

4 tacos-2 carne asada, 1 tripe and 1 lengua. I did appreciate the onions and jalapeno added to my order.
    Maggie M.

The tripe tacos were flavored well and nice and crunchy. The tacos de Lengua were also good, but I was disappointed with the tacos de carne asada. They failed with the seasoning, they were very bland. I added salt and pepper and it helped. They were flavorless. I'll go back just to see if they were off today. Service was slow, my tacos were started to get prepped then the guy went to heat up 25 tortillas then went to prep the two carne asada tacos. Salsa bar is nice. Busy ambiance I arrived right before the big rush came in but got my food after the two tables that arrived after me.

Tacos are lights out. Best Al Pastor in the valley, including at the Mexican mall place.
