Now by living with it has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. We got to this place after booking an appointment through their website. The line outside the store was pretty long for people with appointments. We got in and made it straight to the laptop section. The store was short staffed and short on supply and we waited some time until a young consultant showed up. He knew his stuff pretty well but couldn't stay around much as he constantly was going around to help other customers. This made us wait every time we had questions about a laptop. We finally decided which laptop we were choosing and let him know. It again took some time for him to get the laptop out of the inventory and get to the billing. We finally checked out and left the store. The HP laptop has been a good purchase and has been doing well so far.

I get to the front of the line and Chris says no walk ins you need an appointment. I make an appointment in my phone for later that day. I get in the line again to see if since I'm already there I could just drop it off. Chris rudely says no come back at 3. I understand if that's their policy but he could be nice and understanding such as "I am so sorry the signage is unclear, unfortunately the system only lets me take items at the appointment time" instead of a rude "come back at 3" (with tone). Very displeased with the service.

I've got a bit of a soft spot for the anachronism that is Radio Shack, even though I don't think…read moreyou can sound more dated than the words "radio" and "shack" if you tried. Having worked at Radio Shack back in college, I was paid minimum wage OR commission, whichever was more. So, when you get the attempted upsell for things like batteries, there's an economic reason behind it. Falling on hard times has meant liquidation of hundreds of stores across the U.S. in recent years, as the electronics retailer has struggled to stay relevant in an increasingly online world. Still, I have to say I'm glad there's a place to buy power adapters, batteries, Arduino gear and MakerBot supplies, even if I'm not currently an aficionado of such projects in my advanced age. While this location is about par what you'd expect, I do hope it sticks around, maybe even in a more forward-looking iteration, or a with a revamped product line and a dynamic marketing campaign. It would leave a Radio Shack-shaped hole in my heart if it were gone.

I dropped my trusty iPad on my stone kitchen floor and busted the screen. I thought I'd take it to…read moreradio shack for a fix, as it was cheaper than taking it to apple and the store is right up the street from where I live. I wish I hadn't. RS advertises "quick" screen repair and when I first brought it in they told me it'd take 2-3 days. But it ended up taking SIXTEEN (16) days. It took them a few days to realize they couldn't fix at the store so they had to send it out to the "master tech" -- then they didn't send it out when they first told me they were going to, then when they finally did it took forever to get back and nobody knew where it was. It was just a comedy of errors. Plus, my frustration was compounded by customer service that was beyond apathetic -- when I would call to check the status, generally nobody knew anything and I'd just be told to call back, really they just wanted to get me off the phone so they wouldn't have to bother actually providing any customer service. And the iPad is "fixed" and generally functional, but it's not the same. It uses battery probably 3x faster, sometimes the screen doesn't respond to a touch they way it should, and in one corner it's a little thicker and it makes a clicking noise when squeezed. If I had to do it over, I'd spend $500 or whatever on a new iPad rather than the $200 I spent for a crappy experience and an imperfect old iPad. It was a BIG mistake taking it to Radio Shack and I'm not the least bit surprised the company is bankrupt.

YOU MUST LEAVE A $40 DEPOSIT TO GET AN ESTIMATE. this deposit will be applied to your repair if you get it repaired here. GET IT IN WRITING that you have left a deposit. First, this place is convenient to where I live so I brought in a desktop that needed a power supply. Within a week, I had my computer back and in working order. EXCELLENT, i was happy. although, I HAD TO REMIND the owner to apply my deposit toward the final cost of the repair. I brought in another computer later in the year, left my $40 deposit, and after 11 days it was not looked at so I called and told them I would be in to pick it up and needed to take it elsewhere. The owner was away and so i could not get my deposit back. I returned a few weeks later to collect my deposit and the owner gave me back $20. I was not happy and I told him I wanted the whole $40 but he refused. I will find another place to get of my electronics repaired and it will be worth the travel. Stay tuned.
