Now by living with it has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. We got to this place after booking an appointment through their website. The line outside the store was pretty long for people with appointments. We got in and made it straight to the laptop section. The store was short staffed and short on supply and we waited some time until a young consultant showed up. He knew his stuff pretty well but couldn't stay around much as he constantly was going around to help other customers. This made us wait every time we had questions about a laptop. We finally decided which laptop we were choosing and let him know. It again took some time for him to get the laptop out of the inventory and get to the billing. My work computer was not turning on. I looked online and saw that they take walk ins. I went over the wait in the line and there is a giant sign saying Walk Ins. I get to the front of the line and Chris says no walk ins you need an appointment. I make an appointment in my phone for later that day. I get in the line again to see if since I'm already there I could just drop it off. Chris rudely says no come back at 3. I understand if that's their policy but he could be nice and understanding such as "I am so sorry the signage is unclear, unfortunately the system only lets me take items at the appointment time" instead of a rude "come back at 3" (with tone). On Saturday, Nov 8, 2025 I made an appt to get my screen repaired in my phone. I was told they would not have time. I rescheduled another appt on Sunday at 2:20 PM. I was on time I waited for my Geek member to register my phone with 2 other people. I came back after the Jets game and my phone was not done. I came back about 6 PM and I was given water for the wait. I came by 4 minutes before 7PM. The person apologized for the phone not being repaired. Another person made the situation worse because he could not do anything. The "old" let me talk to my manager routine came back with no manager. It was suggested for me to come back Monday. I wish I could give zero stars. Bought an open box tv with installation. I was assured by the young salesperson that the old tv could be removed from the wall after I explained how it was mounted. When installers arrived they told me they could not remove the old tv. The installer told me he would take care of the refund for $250 plus tax. He apparently did not. So I called the store and spoke with someone who also assured me he would take care of it and to just give it time, he was not a pleasant person either...a bit of an attitude. So 12 days after the purchase I did not see the refund on my credit card. I called general BB customer service number and they transferred me to the installation department where I was told they had no record of the refund request, which explains why I kept getting texts and phone calls to schedule the install! I told the installation dept representative that I wanted an email proving that the refund will be processed, which they sent me. Do yourself a favor and avoid this branch of Best Buy, nothing but trouble, check other reviews. While I was in the store, a few of the sales people were even bickering over use of the computer while customers were waiting for help. The worse customer service experience ever! I went to the store last week looking for earbuds. No one was around to help me. I went to the front of the store and the girl up front said to go back to the department and look for someone. There was no one working on the floor. I wandered around for five minutes, to no avail. I finally took a seat behind a customer service counter waiting and still no one. After 15 minutes, I wandered into the warehouse in the back of the store in hopes of finding someone to help. I did see a guy and a girl back there. He was packing a box and she was standing there watching him. They were engaged in conversation, laughing and joking, not even paying attention to me. I walked up to them only to be told I should'nt be in the area. I asked for help and the girl walked out with me and tried to get someone to help. She called a customer service person/employee over to help me. He looked at us and kept walking without a care in the world. He did not want to be bothered. The girl again called him over, very audibly, but he ignored us again. It was in the evening and the store was empty. After that, I left the store and promised never to go back to the Union, NJ location ever again. I cannot believe how a company like BestBuy can be managed like that. Have only been here 4-5x over same amount of yrs but every single time the reps at the counter have been rude, sarcastic or downright unfriendly. Every. Time. Whether returning items according to their policy or just buying a simple iPhone charging cord. Usually buy electronics online but sometimes you need something right away or just want to see/touch in person, and Best Buy is ubiquitous enough. Not that counter reps at other Best Buy locations are particularly friendly, but these guys stand out for their heelishness. Once returned a TV I bought online and their sarcasm was a 10/10, dalmost couldn't believe it, then their tone switched immediately to professional and polite, was like something out of a bad 80s comedy. Early 2020 is quite an interesting time. Gone are the days of heading to Amazon.com for all your computer needs. With Covid-19 wreaking havoc on supply chains, delays of a week or more are common with Amazon shipments. Enter: this Best Buy. It's closed to the general public, but you can still buy online and pick up in store. They have a system where a staff member will bring your item to your car and either drop it off in your trunk, or hand it to you through the window. I used this curbside pickup last week and it worked great. So great, that I came back today to buy an external hard drive. I arrived, checked in on the website, and in a few minutes someone came out to hand me my hard drive. To avoid any potential Covid-19 contamination, I had asked the staff member to place the items in my back seat through the window, which I had opened. Imagine my horror when she THREW the hard drive in the back. Like...launched it as if it were a cornhole bean bag. If you know anything about electronics, you'd know that hard drives are extremely fragile under normal circumstances. If you throw it like a frisbee it will 99% stop working. I held out hope that I would be the lucky 1%, but alas when I got home the drive was DOA. So, it's back to this store tomorrow for a replacement. And since it's a bit of a hike from where I live, it will likely be my last visit here. read more

Terrible service! They will cancel your appointment without letting you know. I came in for a car installation got there at my scheduled appointment time at first they told me it was a slow day. Then they had me wait because it was "packed". I waited 40 minutes before they told me I was not on their schedule for the day even though I had a confirmation email stating otherwise. They told me the next appointment time wasn't until two months out. Sean the installation guy stated he had a lot of work and could not do it (and said he would lie just to get my car in and not touch it) however, he spent about an hour standing by his computer talking with another worker. Albert the manager was no help either he stated an email was sent out to reschedule however, I had no email and even called prior to my appointment to confirm they would take my car in because of the snow. read more

This review is not so much about this particular location as much as it is about best buy themselves and their online order, delivery and cancelation process. I ordered a pair of Bose L1 pro speaker covers online for pickup at the Rte 22 union, NJ location. The pickup was scheduled for Thursday September 15th, however when I visited the store that afternoon the customer service rep said they had 2 truck deliveries at 11am and 2pm and they expected no more deliveries for the day. I called best buy customer service and informed them that my order was not available pickup as promised and asked could there be a price remediation for the delay (2 Bose covers at $45 x 2 = $90) bot the best they could offer was 5 bucks off total price. I then asked if they could at least price match because I found the same speaker covers for bose L1 pro at ThomannMusic.com for 10 bucks cheaper ($35) but they also weren't willing to do that so I told them I might as well cancel and purchase the covers from Thomann instead. The customer service rep told me I would have to cancel online, but needless to say that when I went back to my order the "cancel " button was grayed out. Apparently best buy has it fixed that when an online order is out for delivery you can no longer cancel, however due to the fact that I had already previosly checked with the store's customer service rep I knew for a fact that the delivery wasn't in route. In addition to that after I complained to best buy's customer service by phone they tried to cover themselves by sending out an email saying that the delivery was delayed by a few days but still on its way. Once I saw this gimmick i immediately returned to the pickup location and canceled the order from there. Once again to reiterate: I had no problem with the Rte 22 Union, NJ location and in fact the store's customer service rep was very helpful. However if you order online from Best Buy for store pickup watch out because both their delivery and cancelation process seems to be very deceptive! read more

In the last few months, I have picked up photography as not only a hobby, but a passion; something that I have been interested in for years. I went to this store to get some assistance with buying a lens for my Sony A6000 at the time. I was assisted by a very nice young man, who helped me a great deal. He explained the reasons of why investing in the suggested lens should be considered. Long story short, I purchased the lens. About 4 months later, I came back, since by this time, I upgraded to the Sony A7II. This time, I was assisted by another associate, who....let's say wasn't that super friendly. He did assist, but lacked positive customer service skills. Anyway, by the time he went to the back to get the lens that I researched, I saw the same gentleman who had helped me four months before. This time I paid attention to his name badge: RV. He delivered yet again, superb customer service skills, and I was able to make, not only the lens purchase, but also an external mic purchase. Very honest and positive attitude. The reason I am giving this store 5 stars is only because of his positive attitude, patience with me, and assistance. People need to realize how powerful customer service is. Because of this guy, I'll bypass all the other stores, and come to this one, hoping that RV helps me again. I hate going into places where it's like, the associates doesn't want to help you, meanwhile had it not been for you, they would not be employed. The last time was due to the corona virus which I totally understand. For the last 3 days I have been trying to reschedule my appointment and have been told they are unable to schedule any appointments at this time. Their telephone system has waits of up to 45 minutes. Sales assistance here is usually eager, but knowledgeably is a 50/50 proposition-- a combination which means that you need to do your homework before walking in the door. It also means that the odds of locating someone who knows what they're talking about is higher than at their Rt. 22 competition. A manager who tells a customer "you have two options, return your item for store credit or have a good day" does not deserve to have a manager position in any retail business. The maintenance staff was very nice, however, the store management people were highly unreasonable and not customer friendly at all! Buying from Best vs. buying from COSTCO! I also found that buying from Best Buy makes us at the disadvantage compared to buying from Costco! The management staff of Best Buy Union mentioned that Costco has a different deal with Samsung than Best Buy has! If you take the product to costco, they will simply return it and if it needed any repairs they wont charge anything from the customers. Whereas, Best Buy does charge the customer which makes me feel that the Geek Squad service is an additional cost customer has to incur when buying from Best Buy! Because the Geek Squad warranty which Best buy store offers is basically making money out of the similar warranty that COSTCO offer for free. I bought a TV from Costco a year back, I called costco and they said it is still under warranty and we will have it inspected with the technician. My wife purchased a Sunbrite Outdoor TV for $3000.00 and the salesman sold her the protection plan for $200 per year. Two years later the TV became damaged from normal use.
