I have never encountered a place that lacks as much knowledge in their own work as much as Micro City. Professionalism is also lacking here. A simple phone screen repair on my iPhone 11 Pro Max has turned into a nightmare. Micro City has replaced my phone screen 3 times since my first initial visit. Each time I brought my phone back to them, it was because of issues with my phone screen. As a write this, my phone is still broken because of their negligence. At this point, I have decided to simply order a new phone as I don't have any more time or patience dealing with Micro City. Avoid this place at all cost if you value your money, phone, or any sort of professionalism when conducting business. read more

Located on Ferry street in Newark, this place is located walking distance from Penn Station, and is easy to get to by car or foot from the train station. Before I made the trip down to MicroCity we called about ten places to see how much they would charge for fixing a cracked screen on an iPhone. This place was by far the cheapest; fixing my iPhone 3GS for $30.00! Since it was so affordable my husband took out his phone (an iPhone 4) that was cracked in the back of the phone. For his iPhone 4 it was $40.00. One place in Montclair quoted me a price of $250.00!!!! When we got there it took about 20 minutes for them to fix both phones. Another HUGE plus is that they were open until 8:00pm on Saturday. I made it in time to get my iPhone fixed and got it back the same day unlike other sites were saying min 5 days! The screen on my iPhone 4 went black so I attempted to go to the Apple Store in Manhattan where they told me that because I'd had the screen replaced by a third party, they would not be able to assist me. I had the distinct feeling that a wire connecting the touch screen had probably just come loose so I found a repair shop nearby. When I arrived at Micro City, I was lucky to have walked in at the same time as their Apple specialist who popped my phone open, re-attached the wire and handed it back to me within 8 minutes. He was incredibly knowledgeable and barely even charged me for the work. Highly, highly recommended. read more

UPDATE: Today May 11,2015, John the owner called me and sincerely apologized to me and my family and told me that steps have been taken to remedy the failure that occurred as described below He offered as a sign of good faith to repair the tablet free of charge if I would give him the opportunity. Everyone deserves a second chance, so I will give him that opportunity to earn my business and have conditionally given him another star. After the repair I will revisit my review and see if he has actually EARNED MY BUSINESS BACK. I brought my cracked screen tablet to micro city on September 16, 2014. the manager located the part online and ordered it after I gave as $40 deposit. he told me to call in a week or so. I started calling after Christmas and got the runaround for a few weeks. no one there knew if the part was in, the manager MIGHT be in after 2pm or maybe after 5 pm... blah blah blah. finally called last week an someone determined that the part was in but he could not do the install..the illusive manager would have to do it, but no one could nail down when he would be in. in frustration my wife called today and gave the order number to the girl who Answered the phone. without covering the mouthpiece she asked a male coworker what she should say, his response was stunning....he said "TELL HER TO GET HER ASS DOWN HERE" I took over the call at this point and told her that I was coming there for a refund and asked does she have the authority to refund my cash. she said yes and we went and got the refund. while there, I asked who had made the insulting statement and she lied and said she did not know. There were two male employees there and I asked them .both denied but eventually one said that he did not say it to my wife but rather to his female co worker. at this point I expected an apology, but he was steadfast and did not seem to think he did anything wrong. I informed him that I originally came here because of the christopher d yelp recommendation and that christopher was my son and that the manager had treated him very well as a repeat customer again at this point I expected an apology and an offer to complete the repairs .... nothing from this ignorant employee..... so reluctantly we have another example of employee who does not know what customers mean to a small business.... micro city's loss. My iPhone 7 had water damage so I walked into micro city and left it overnight. They confirmed a price with me and my phone was fixed a day later. There was also an issue with the home button not working and that was taken care of right away. I'm happy with their service and also the women there are beautiful. read more

My iphone 6s wasn't charging, so I took it to apple store. Walked out with a brand new iphone 8 and a totally broken iphone 6s. Someone told me about microcity and I went there. John replaced the charging port on my iphone 6s and so far it works great. Will be back if any more issues with phone. read more

My mother just bought a "brand new" iPhone from them yesterday for $650, only to realize when she opened it today that IT WAS NOT NEW and had scratches and marks. Receipt says exchange within 7 days is possible but they didn't want to hear it not honor their word. She put in a deposit at first for 50$ for the phone and they denied giving her the money back at first when she wanted to change minds about the phone purchase. Denying her deposit back was when she just bought the phone - foolishly believing they were honest in their business. They are not. They scammed her and disrespected her when she asked for them to change it for an actual new device. They are SO RUDE !! They didn't want to work with her or honor this mistake. Went in for a broken screen on my cell phone, one of an usual make. I had to buy the new screen myself, as they don't carry it, and I took it there. Twenty minutes later, for a very reasonable price and my phone is brand new. The store has an open floor plan and the technician's bench is in full view of the clientele. Even more impressive is the screen displaying the under-the-microscope view of what's being done to your phone, live. I dropped my iPhone 5s phone off here to be repaired, and the repair was fast (1 hour) and well priced ($120). Almost immediately, I could tell the screen wasn't working properly. The upper left corner was jumpy and I could barely hear the speaker when I was on the phone, but I thought that's what you get for replacing the screen at a non-Apple store. A month later I dropped my phone and the screen came loose. The loose glue on the screen was causing my phone to act up and made it unusable. I got it repaired by a different place in NYC, and the guy there said the screen used to repair my phone the first time was a cheap after-market screen that did not properly fit my phone, which is the reason the screen came loose so easily and did not work properly. If there was a zero star I would give it. Stay away from this place if you want your iPad or anything fixed, extremely unprofessional! Went in to fix an iPad, part of the screen was darker and touch screen on one part was not working. I was told that I would have to leave it and get it checked out. I had to call them 3 times to get a quote. Finally got a quote and left it to get fixed. They fixed the touch screen but not the fading on the one side of the screen. When I go to pick it up they tell me I would have to pay another $150 to fix the fading. I was like what! They said one part has nothing to do with the other. I told him that I was not aware of that, no one explained that to me. So payed 100 bucks and part of the screen is still dark, if I knew that I would have never have gotten it fixed. I'm not the tech they are, they should have explained that to me prior and they didn't. Funny part is he thinks he's in the right. Unbelievable!!! Never again will I set foot in that dive. amazing customer service and not to forget to mention the speed at the way they work,, i brought in my galaxy s5 that had a broken screen, i called a few places and their precises ranged from 180 to 220 to replace the whole screen but the guys at mircrocity told me that i only needed to replace the top screen and that they will do it for $100, 2 hours later i returned to the store to pick up my phone and it looked like brand new again... i defiantly recommend this place highly. read more
