Absolutely horrible sales rep. Went with my family to purchase a new phone for replacement and the rep looked like she didn't want to help us at all. Throughout the entire conversation, she asked only for our account phone number to log into our account so we gave her the main phone number in our family plan. And then, when paying for the phone, she didn't mention that we couldn't pay it off entirely right there, we could only pay "partially". Basically she took my credit card, I signed in the tablet, got some paperwork, and we left. Partly my fault for not looking through the papers, but then found out we have to go to a Verizon store again in the next pay cycle to pay it fully. After receiving the new phone in the mail, we found out the rep assigned it to the account holder. She didn't mention this during the transaction at all, if she did, we would've told her to assign it to another member in the account. We spent an hour on the phone with Verizon customer service to fix this issue. Verizon, stop hiring people based on diversity quotas and hire people who actually want to work! read more

So I hate my phone. It lags, it sucks, it's not user friendly. I left my charger in San Diego so I had to go to the Verizon store to buy a new one. Since I was going there already, I figured I should just buy a new phone. I had to wait about ten minutes for a sales rep, which was fine because it gave me a chance to do some zero-pressure browsing. I found the phone I wanted just as my name was called. Salesguy Eric asked me for some info and then let me know that I wasn't eligible for an upgrade and I would have to pay full retail for the phone I wanted instead of the $189. Sigh. He then walked me back to the service help desk to see if my phone had all the software upgrades as needed. They wanted to see why my phone sucked so badly. The tech played with it and showed his manager that it was freezing on me. He asked the manager what he could do. Manager says, "Get him a new one." $0. I bought another charger for $30 something and was out the door with a new phone. Things like that are the reason I left Cingular and went to Verizon. I think cell phone companies need to realize that coverage isn't the only thing that the customer wants! read more

This store single handedly altered my perspective for the Verizon Wireless brand name. Judging from the reviews on this page, I am not alone. First off, I came in to the store on a Saturday afternoon. That said, I knew the traffic would be heavier than normal. I saw people sitting on the floor waiting to be helped. Verizon, PLEASE consider investing in a few folding chairs. Not cool when your patrons have to sit on the ground for an hour to wait to be served. Anthony, the manager, was in the front plugging people into the wait list. I'm not sure how he received this role because as a manager of the store, he didn't show me or anybody that came after me any personable skills. He was a very poor greeter and was very non informative. By non-informative, I mean he knew nothing about my problem and kept deferring me to the sales associate when it's my turn to be seen. Anthony told me my wait was 30 mins (which was fair) but I ended up waiting over an HOUR to be helped! He never apologized or reassured me that my turn will come. Not ideal. Here was why I went in: Like everyone, I have an iPhone. I just wanted to transfer my current Verizon plan over to an Nokia Lumia 900. I waited an HOUR just to find out that Verizon does not carry Nokia Lumia 900 phones.. That's fine, because they can't all be compatible. Why couldn't Anthony just have told me that to begin with? Beats me.. I even approached the guy and told him my issue (showing him BOTH phones) prior to putting my name on the wait list !! I'm sorry, but if you're from corporate and you're reading this, you might want to consider restructuring your employee training program. Going to the cellphone store is almost as much fun as going to the DMV or jury duty, and the Verizon on Davis Street did not disappoint. As we approached the store, a large dog inside started barking at us, and the employees acted shocked that we didn't want to enter and be bitten, and reluctantly took the dog outside. This should have been a warning, but we entered regardless. My phone had been stolen, and the other person I was with on the "family plan" wanted an upgrade from a broken Blackberry. I asked the clerk about Droids, hoping to upgrade from my craptastic "Envy" phone, and he insisted that they were a waste of money and I should instead get another more basic phone and a tablet. Really? To save money on the $30/month data plan? No, I could buy a tablet for a few hundred dollars, and carry that around with me, pay the data plan, and get the joy of having another phone I didn't want. He really pushed for the tablet, and maybe they have to meet some kind of quota, but it was obviously not what I wanted. When I expressed an interest in the iPhone, he insisted the choice was up to the other person with me. Really? For *my* phone? Throughout the entire transaction he was completely condescending and rude. I would have left, but know that other Verizon stores are just as bad, and didn't want to waste another afternoon. If I were a four-year-old, jabbing at cell phones and breaking things, maybe his attitude would be appropriate, however it's really not good salesmanship to talk down to someone in their mid-20s. I expected him to break out in a baby voice any second. Honestly, I just wanted to slap him he was so overly familiar. We're not best friends, and sales clerks should really call customers, especially those older than them, "Ms." or "sir" until told otherwise. So presumptuous. We ended up purchasing new iPhones, and I explicitly asked him not to deactivate one of the accounts, as that person still wanted to get pictures off of her old phone, and wasn't with us. That evening when I got home I found out he had deactivated the old phone, and not activated the new phone, so she was without a phone for an entire day, not pleasant between work and school. When I called the store the next day to resolve the issue, I was put on hold for more than 15+ minutes, and transferred between several people before someone gave me the generic number for the corporate Verizon helpline, where it took another 15 minutes to have the issue remedied. If they make a mistake, they really should take accountability and fix it. Blah. Next time, I'll drive to Stoneridge. Also, the Starbucks next door is closed, all boarded up, which used to be the saving grace of bearing a Verizon visit. Nothing makes me more tolerant of idiocy and incompetence than 30 oz. of iced caffeine. read more

I came in with the plan to buy a new cellphone to upgrade from my 4S and to switch my cellphone carrier. WOW what a waste of time. Long post, but YOU SHOULD READ IT IF YOU PLAN ON DOING BUSINESS HERE I came in trying to purchase a phone at full retail (Samsung Galaxy Note Edge) but was told by Alex (the sales manager) that it was stupid to do so and he can find a way to save me money. Sure, after 3 hours with him he "helped save me money" by moving 3 of my lines off my 1400 nationwide (left the other 2 lines since they were unlimited data) and created another line which he referred to as the dead line, so I can save roughly $400 on the phone. He also said that I would HAVE TO BUY $100 of cell phone accessories that I didnt want so he can make some money for helping him out that he would credit back to my account (More details on that to come.) So i agreed, BUT he never showed me what it was going to come out to but ensured that my total monthly bill was going to be the same. That night I went home logged into Verizon, and noticed that my bill was going to $240.00 MORE that it was before. So lets do math, I PAY $400 LESS TODAY BUT PAY $240 MORE EVERY MONTH FOR 2 YEARS!!!! I went back to Verizon to see Alex, spent another 3 hours working with him to see why it was going to be that much more and ensured me by hand writing out what each line was going to cost me and how he was manually going to discount every line to keep my monthly payments the same. He then signed the paper and said "he hasn't screwed up before and wont let me be the first" So i trusted he was going to "take care of me" A month later I get my Verizon bill for both my account AND SURE ENOUGH, MY BILL WAS $240.00 MORE A MONTH!!! So I went back into the store on Sunday (apparently too close to closing) and after waiting 30 minutes for Alex, I get kicked out of the store since they were closing and wont be able to assist me. After asking for the District Manager information, Alex had one oh his associated inform me that he will personally look into everything and fix the mistake tomorrow morning (Monday). Tuesday, no call. Wednesday, no call. Thursday I call in speak to Delano another manager who I gave him all the information and said he would work with Alex to fix this issue the next day since Alex was off. Asked for the district managers information, and they refused to give it to me. Next day this evening, I called back to figure out why Alex didnt call me and he said he would look into it tomorrow and get back to me....Saturday and guess what! No call! I go into the store Sunday and spoke to Diane, who knew exactly what was going on and spent 3 hours working with me to "fix" Everything. So she works on deletes the dummy line, moves all my lines back to my original plan, refunds me the "discounted" price of the phone, Charges me FULL RETAIL FOR IT, Charges me my normal bill amount and says that they'll credit everything else back to me (which they didnt) Oh and for the accessories, they weren't going to give me the credit (how surprising) so we agreed to allow me to return the accessories. AND if you read the other yelp reviews, I'm not the only person they did this to. After roughly 13 hours of my time, getting screwed out of $224.61, they were able to make my FUTURE BILLS back to the same. So save yourself 13 hours of headache and $224.61 and AVOID THIS STORE!!! read more

I had the intention of going into the store with a happy, friendly sales rep. to upgrade my phone and plan. It turns out I got the opposite of that. I went in on Friday to get a quote of a new phone and plan with a very helpful sales rep. Today when I went in, I got a sales rep named Enrico (Rico), who was just wasn't in the mood to work or didn't want to be there on a weekend. I was greeted by him when it was my turn. He went onto his work device to look up my account, didn't even acknowledge, say sorry that the device was being slow. I stood there while he looked up my account and search whatever he needed to do. From what I felt, he was rushing the sales and didn't quite fully explain to me the "no contract" deal and the bundle deal. He had to check what the bundle deal was as he wasn't unclear himself. When it was time to check out I felt he didn't know how to explain the break down of the sales to me. I had asked him why the first total was so high (due to equipment+accessories+tax) and he couldn't answer it where I could understand. Luckily there was another sales rep there to explain it to me of the breakdown. As he was getting the phone for me, he didn't ask me for color options or how how many GB I wanted. When he asked me if I had insurance on my phone he was rude about it and gave me a very sarcastic response. He said, "you know if you break or drop your phone, you will have to pay the "x-amount" on the phone". After he said that he shook his head with a raise eyebrow. I felt offended by that as it was my choice to decline it. Overall, I had a bad experience with Rico as he was not knowledgeable of the product, sales, and not a people person. He wasn't very welcoming and didn't acknowledge for the wait while his device was loading. He needs to do research on products before selling it to customers and know what is available for them. In general, I like this store and been with Verizon for a long time, but there is always that one bad apple. I hope he improves and continue with his success. Just I picked the wrong day, wrong person to do sales with. read more

I am in a hurry but need a phone. I tell them what I want, and then tell me there is an upgrade fee. Disappointing, and something they can't waive. Okay. And they ask if they can sell me some accessories for the phone I want, which I say no to. Tries to sell me a bundle of 3 accessories--which I can not only get cheaper online, but much more customized to what I want in my phone. Sales guy goes back and I assume he's going to get the phone I want in black and white varieties. Nearly 5 minutes later he comes back with no phone. Instead he went to talk to his manager about trying to waive the "unwaivable" upgrade fee of $30 and how if I bought 5 accessories then he could waive the fee. I say no. And of course he says that I'm going to make him "look bad" with his manager. Silly business, and I am frustrated. I say I just want the phone and I am in a hurry. The manager ALEX has wandered over at that point and says it'll take a long time to get the phone activated and that I should get my kids and come back. (So he can try to upsell me accessories again...) No way. I say sure, whatever, and I walk out. I live nearby but will drive out to Emeryville tomorrow since they treat me right at that store. I know how to buy customized accessories, I know how to root and ROM my own Android phones. This store is targeting complete tech-neophytes and trying to rip them off. Never again, avoid like the plague. read more

We've been going here for years and we've never had any problems here. However, if you go on a weekend, expect a wait for service because of the crowds. It seems kinda impersonal to have to sign in the get served, but it is more efficient. They've always answered my questions and dealt with any problems I've had. They do push the phone accessories, probably because there's a good profit margin in them. I'd rather buy them cheaper on-line on ebay.com. When I asked them why I shouldn't go to an authorized Verizon retailer and avoid the huge lines, they said that sometimes the Verizon store can do things on your phone that an authorized retailer can't and then they send you back to Verizon to get it done. Not sure what that might be, but there it is. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same. You get a modest discount on your service plan if you are a government employee, so check that out if it fits. I usually use San Francisco locations and everything is fine there. However, today I went to San Leandro location-- near work. Never again. Customer service is an unknown term for them. They are rude, not helpful, absolutely incompetent. I wasted time there, was not helped at all, on top of it they tryed to charge me enormous amount of money. Went to San Francisco-- everything is resolved without sweat and free!!! By the way, the gal "helping" me at San Leandro location was Victoria. God help you, if she is "Helping" you. After going to the Verizon on East 14th Street, we came here, since it's the only other Verizon in San Leandro. It was busy there. First, you sign in and your name is displayed on a flat screen TV in the store. When an employee can assist you, they come and find you. The employee that helped us was very nice, friendly and funny. Sonja to be exact. She explained everything in detail. She was very patient when I had to pick out a phone since my other one could not be fixed. She even helped us fill out the rebate forms. Needless to say, I love this one. The sales reps are so helpful and nice. read more

The guys worked side by side with me helping me pick out a perfect plan and hooking me up with unlimited texting and a bunch of awesome discounts, just one more reason I gave them four stars. This store is alright, I guess. I only come to this store because its close to where I live. What I don't like about this store is that they have to sign you in order for someone to help you. Last time I was there I had to wait 40 minutes for someone to help me. I also don't like how they have seats toward the back end of the store which appear to be hidden. Why not have the chairs/seat in front of the store as you walk in so they're visible. NOT IN THE BACK! The staff here are nice. The store is in a really cramped plaza near Walmart, so there's a ton of foot and car traffic at all times. The parking lot is a mess too, but luckily we found a spot close to the door. The wait wasn't too bad, and you're greeted by the standard staff member w/the faux iPad asking for your reason for being in there. Our sales associate was helpful and patient with our questions, although she had to get her manager involved for a few things she couldn't address. The manager of the store is friendly and helpful too. I like how big the store is, so you don't feel like a sardine inside and the staff isn't on top of you. Just because the path to get here is treacherous is the only reason I wouldn't go back. But if I'm in the San Leandro area (as I was already), then I'd stroll in here again. read more

Verizon Wireless has always been my favorite cellular provider. Even when at times I had AT&T and Sprint, I always came back to Verizon. 2 reasons: The Network and their customer service (in-store and by phone-which is not outsourced by another country).. Last week, I went here with faves to get her phone looked at because she had accidentally dropped it in a cup of water. She was very worried about paying out of pocket for a new phone because she didn't have any insurance on the phone that was just suckled down in some water. After a few minutes of waiting, she was assisted by one of the managers, John. He was very nice and helpful. I left the store to get some food while she waited to get her phone looked at. When I came back, I noticed she was in the back where all the VZW Techs are at and I noticed a smile on her face. She told me that Sarah (tech) and John (mgr) were able to help her out and keep her worries at a very low minimum, well actually...no worries at all. She was very happy with their customer service and appreciative for their concern and assistance. So happy that she even offered to buy them dinner but they refused and just were pleased that she was happy and that's all that mattered to them. Now that's customer service! read more

The wait here is what kills the experience for me.... we waited on Saturday for about an hour and a half before we could see anyone. The manager (didn't get his name), Sal, and Sonja were all VERY great with us once we finally got up to the service counter - we came in to do a phone upgrade. The person at the front with the iPad put us on a list and did warn us that everybody and their momma was in this place waiting, but sheesh, this is not the desirable way to spend your afternoon. Once we finally got everything situated, we left with a new iPhone 6, a selfie stick, and a new case that was ordered and will be shipped to our home free of charge. If I had to do this again, I would make an appointment online BEFORE going into the store or come in first thing on a weekday morning when they first open. read more

There was a bit of a wait the first time I visited, but the greeter was quick to educate me (amicably) about the appointment making process, which alleviated any potential for future waits. So the long wait is pretty much irrelevant. Sal (the sales associate I dealt with) was incredibly knowledgable and helpful with my decision to switch over from AT&T after 8 years. She was never pushy, and was completely honest with what Verizon has to offer and what it does not (WiFi calling for example). She was also incredibly patient as I deliberated whether or not I wanted to switch. I won't need to go back for a while (hopefully) but I would recommend this location to others :) read more

The sales rep made certain offers, but they didn't follow up with their end of the deal in our case. Maybe there's a good explanation, but I'm skeptical, and I don't think I'll be coming back any time soon. I guess what has me a bit resentful was that the sales team didn't seem all that sincere. It was what you'd expect to find in, for example, a car dealership, where everyone has a spiel about how they have "great deal" on product X and "oh, the battery life on this one is really excellent" (not). Also, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't carry windows phones, but I won't hold that against them. I think it's just a Verizon thing. I had originally rated them one star, but the customer service representative who contacted me seemed friendly and eager to making amends, so I'll add another. read more

The rep lied to sign me up for 4 lines. During sign up, they confirmed my employee discount eligibility. When I call to see why I'm not seeing the discount on the bill, the rep said the discount is never eligible on their unlimited plans. That's it...they just claimed that I was missed informed. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was put on hold for over an hour, then the call dropped. After $120 of activation fees and purchasing a new phone with them, I'm still going to cut my losses and will be moving all my lines to a different carrier. Verizon can go to hell. read more

It is clear by the decor and set up that Verizon hankers to be another Apple. Alas, it is still very much Verizon. I bought a Samsung 4G Network Extender 2 from corporate--a purchase of over $200--and they sent me the wrong parts with it to set it up. I was directed to this store as the only place that could help me. However, the sales manager Thomas made it crystal clear that not only could he do absolutely nothing about the easily obtainable, $7 part, no one at this store or Verizon was responsible for anything, and nothing could be done, there was no one else to turn to, he was completely helpless to fix anything, etc. It's not the $7 part (which, again, was super easy to locate next door at Home Depot, out-of-pocket, naturally,) it's the attitude. This review has nothing to do with verizon. I came here to meet golden state warriors basketball player Shaun Livingston with my coworker and her son. We came here 1.5 hours early and it was freezing cold. Security and staff there were friendly. They were not mean at all and even engaged with the crowd. It made my corworkers son feel at ease. Didn't think a ton of people would show up, but there was quite a crowd. The meet and greet was only an hour long and we were a bit disappointed because Shaun came late and that wasn't verizon's fault, but we were upset that we couldn't take pictures with him, we were only allowed to get autographs. read more
