I would give this store a "no-star" rating if I could. I received a text from Verizon offering me an upgrade on my "ancient" iPhone -5s....I went to the Grossmont Center Verizon store last Wednesday, April7th at 10:10 am, just after opening. I was met at the door by a short, young, blonde woman in glasses (didn't get the name)who asked what I needed, and took me to a desk where we both sat down. I explained I wanted to update immediately to an iPhoneSE. I then asked if she could transfer the stuff on my old phone to my new phone. She said "no" they don't do that there, but that she could give me a phone number that I could call to arrange the transfer. I explained that I am a 74 year old "technically challenged" senior; and asked again if she could help me with the transfer. Again, she declined...I stood up and said good-bye. What a crock! An empty store 10 minutes after opening and this woman had no interest in helping! I then drove to the Murphy Canyon Verizon store off I-15 and Aero Drive and had a great experience....See my review on that experience. read more

I've been with Verizon for almost 15 years. My confidence in them has been waining over the past two years with a pressure to buy a phone that was being discontinued shortly after the purchase (unbeknownst to me) and wouldn't be getting the updates to perform correctly. And various other issues I've incountered with their sales team. And the absurd idea that I was going to be charged more for paying cash at another location that didn't have a payment kiosk. really?!?! Yes really. There is a fee to pay with cash. CASH! Well today was different. Today I met Rodger. He is the type of employee that understands the customer and provides excellent service. I never felt as if he was trying to confuse me with technological terms. He spoke to me as a peer, I felt as if we were friends. All I can say is WOW. I've been very skeptical about going places since the pandemic, and I must say this Verizon store made me feel SAFE! Everyone was social distancing, mask work by employees and customers all around, they even had someone wiping down the devices after a customer was using it! You couldn't ask for better precautions. I especially wanted to thank Sarah and Nina specifically for being so helpful and patient with getting a new phone after I broke mine. I went to the Grossmont Verizon store on July 5th and spoke to a sales associate named David, about purchasing a new phone since my phone froze up and was inoperable. He helped me pick a replacement phone and he assured me he would help me the next day to set up my phone with my Gmail account if I came back the next day with my password (which I forgot) and that he would also help me retrieve my photos and documents. I came back on July 5th, David was at the front door and advised me he didn't want to be rude but he couldn't help me, I reminded him what he had promised but, he said to check with Gmail, Netfix or at&t, he refused to help in any way. This is my second bad experience with Grossmont Verizon and it will be the last time I do business with this store. read more

If I could give minus stars I would. I thought I was being punked because NO BUSINESS could give such horrendous service. I purchased a Chromebook when my tablet fizzled out. All I wanted was to be shown how to transfer my Kindle books from the tablet to the Chromebook. I was told they don't do that. But I was handed a scrap of paper for "Live Tech Support" and a phone number to call, and informed that they will walk me through it. I called , and called, for a total of 3 days because I was getting a message indicating they were having technical difficulties and to call back later. After 3 days I gave up. I packed up the device, took it back to the store and insisted on a refund. The clerk talked me into keeping it, indicating I could make an appointment with a tech who would reserve a block of time for me, and would then show me what to do. OK, I calmed down. I made the appointment, which was for today, 3 days later. I showed up with my device at the appointed time, met the tech and told him what I wanted. He said he wasn't certain how to do it, and he was busy with other customers anyway (I had an appointment!!!). He handed me another scrap of paper the other guy handed me previously, with the number for "Live Tech Support." I came home, upset, discouraged and frustrated. I had just wasted time, gotten NO Help for my problem, plus wasted more liquid gold, GAS on this wild goose chase. I called the number for Live Tech Support when I got home. I promptly got a message that due to being short on staff, they were not accepting calls at this time. UGH!...............So here I am with a device I have no idea how to use and with no support from the company who sold it to me. If I could give zero stars, I totally would. I have never had a more unpleasant customer service experience in my entire life. After waiting twenty minutes in a busy store, I was happy when Brandon stepped forward to assist me. However, once he realized he wasn't going to be selling me anything, his attitude quickly soured. I told Brandon I needed my final Verizon bill, because I had recently switched to Sprint and needed to provide them with evidence I had terminated my relationship with Verizon to redeem a refund. Brandon looked up my phone number, and noted that the line was not inactive, but in fact had THREE additional lines on it, belonging to people whom I had never met in my life. Needless to say, this was alarming. Brandon looked at me suspiciously, and asked if I knew any of these people on "my" line. I responded that I did not. He then pulled his phone out, and called the phone on record, triggering my phone to ring. Here was his definitive proof that the phone belonged to me, and not this other, fraudulent person. He then proceeded to have me walk to the back of the store. As I walked behind him, I suggested that perhaps we look my account up by my social security number. He interrupts me with, "LISTEN, LISTEN...I'm going to need you to relax or I'm going to ask you to leave the store." I look over at my boyfriend, aghast, like, "What the hell is transpiring here?!" Brandon continues his half-assed investigation into the flaws with my account. While he does this, he continues making rude and snide remarks, both to myself and then about myself to his co-worker standing nearby. I ask him to look my account up by my social, and he says, "Look, go put your number in up front, and start over again." I said, "What is happening? I have not done anything rude or aggressive; I've been speaking in a respectable manner. I want to speak to your manager." Brandon mutters that he isn't going to "deal with this bitch," and skulks off to assist some other poor soul, who likely is absolutely oblivious as to how nasty his day with Verizon is about to get. When I finally spoke to the manager, she basically told me she couldn't help me, and that she would "speak" to Brandon about his behavior. Real confidence-inspiring. I filed a formal complaint with Verizon Corporate, who is also resolving the fraud taking place in my account. Per the Verizon rep I spoke to on the phone, the manager at the store could have helped me with the fraud issue, but just decided not to. When she filed the complaint against Brandon, she herself noted that "people like that do not need to be working in retail. What he did was entirely inexcusable." The Verizon rep on the phone is the only reason I believe Verizon even deserves the one star. She was sympathetic, horrified at the treatment I had received, and utterly apologetic. Everyone else at Verizon is terrible, and I am thrilled to be done with them all. Brandon, I hope you lose your job, and I hope you stub your baby toe today. You made me cry, and you are an awful human being. read more

Me thinks not indeed. Was rushed through the sign up process by the salesman who did not explain what any of the fees were and suddenly we had a $300 per month bill. He had to go back to his manager several times just like a car salesman (he even told us "I'm just here to make money"). He kept on pressuring us to purchase stuff we did not need and ended up selling us home phone equipment that was more expensive than what we needed. He told us to come back the next day for the equipment. I came back and they didn't have it and said I had to go to another store which is when I found out that the salesmen didn't even offer me the cheaper option. Went to a different store and cut the fees by more than 50%. By selling me the home phone that the store didn't have, my account locked up and I spent several days trying to reconcile it. read more

This is the worst customer service I have ever received. Bought an I watch with a trade in. They did not process my order, they took my trade in and lost the amount owed, they couldn't give me my watch and only offered a gift card in less than the amount that the trade is was offered at. This is the second chance trying to buy a watch through them. The manager is incredibly rude and had the nerve to ask me if I even wanted her help. Disgusted by this business and their team! Only online was anyone willing to help. Now I have to wait a week to even get any type of credit back. Will never do business in this store again and I recommend no does. Sarah Mikhael was amazing! I was dreading switching carriers because the last time I switched (to AT&T), it was a nightmare and it took 15 months to straighten everything out. Sarah made switching to Verizon painless and simple though. Despite the fact that I had to get phones unlocked and also unlock our credit, she stuck with us and was patient every step of the way and really knew her stuff. She even gave us her number and offered to port the other numbers on our plan, once I was able to get them their SIM cards. If you go into the Grossmont store, definitely ask for Sarah. I'm hoping she's an example of the service and professionalism we experience with Verizon every step of the way. read more

Before going here, I first went to the Verizon store at Parkway Plaza to have my wife's phone service transferred to a new unlocked Moto phone I had bought online. The other store rudely turned me away, claiming that Verizon wouldn't work on that phone. I have been eligible for an upgrade since last summer but haven't used it because I was waiting to make sure the 4G LTE network was running smoothly which it finally appears to be doing. Well the Droid Razr (white) is currently on sale for $99 so I just couldn't past up a such a good deal. I called the store to make sure that the they had the phone and it was indeed $99 and I was assured that is was and they had plenty in stock. The deal was so good I told my cousin who was having battery issues with his phone to go pick this phone up which he did. I finally made it to the store at around 8 PM. I walked and told them I was here to pick up the Droid Razr and that I also had a $30 credit that I wouldn't to use. We start the process and Stan tells me 1) I must pay an extra $50 because of a mail in-rebate. 2) He couldn't honor my $30 credit and 3)There would be an addition $30 upgrade charge. I was taken aback by this. I had called to specifically make sure there wasn't any hidden charges and sure enough there were. I called my cousin to see if he had to pay the same things at the store he went to and he said no. He ended up coming to the store with his receipt and we should Stan that if this was a corporate store I shouldn't have to pay extra fees and my credit should be honored. He said he couldn't do it and that no manager was on duty. I ended up leaving without my phone. I had the money but it was the fact that I felt I had been lied to. I ended up calling Verizon customer service and explaining what happened and they assured me that since the is a corporate store and not a retail store the could honor the $30 credit, I didn't have to pay the $50 and mail in the rebate and the $30 upgrade fee could be waived. I called the store to verify and the pulled up my account saying that all this was possible. Well I arrive at the store later and I was told that the couldn't do any of this. This store is without a doubt the wost store I have dealt with. Customer service, promotion and device knowledge is horrible at best. Save your time and go to another store. I was so happy with Yvette at this Verizon location. I was going in there to get some help with the set up of my daughters Gizmo watch. It was a replacement watch through Asurion. Unfortunately we weren't successful with the set up of my daughters watch but she hung in there with me until I could get Asurion to successfully send me out another watch that would set up properly. Yvette's customer service was top notch considering I didn't even purchase something from that store. I was there strictly for help setting up my daughters replacement watch. BUYER BEWARE!!! We went in prior to the new Note 9 release to pre purchase our phones. I've always used Best Buy and now I know why! We went in for the Buy 1 Get 1 deal. We also purchased a 4th line and third Note. Supposedly our bill was to remain about the same. BUT WAIT! We were offered the Hum device at "no additional cost!" We repeatedly told NATALIA we did not want it! She assured us there was no additional cost to us. Ya BS! Instead she offered all these"additional discounts" for our service, in lieu of stating that what she was really doing was dropping our level of service, so we would sign the contract for an additional contract on the HUM! Hello! Something we didn't freaking want! We asked repeatedly if there would be any additional charge. We were told repeatedly there wouldn't be by Natalia! Of course we got the whole you have 14 days to return the device yadayadayada... So of course our bill raises to over $600! Wth? It's obviously past 14 days but to our knowledge the Hum was free. That is until I called to question my whole bill! She screwed our account up so much, that we no longer had the same level of service, were BEING CHARGED for the free phone and now have a two year contract for something we DON'T WANT! BITTY YOU LIED! YOU KNOW YOU LIED! Stan the joke of a manager stood by to tell me that she told us we had 14 days to make a return. Hey dipstick, I didn't want the thing and she assured us there would be no charge. Not once did Natalia mention a contract for the Hum device. NOT ONCE! FALSE ADVERTISING! So why would we have thought we were being charged or needed to return it within 14 days??? Don't waste your time at this store. Don't waste your time with Stan and stay the heck away from Natalia! She is deceptive. Once you sign that contract you are screwed. That's ok because of this we are leaving Verizon. If I'm going to pay fees it'll be on my terms not because someone was dishonest and screwed her own community! You suck Natalia and my wife and I won't forget it! Bravo to you sweetheart! In August of 2015, my wife's MAXX camera just quit entirely, and couldn't be resurrected. This is a known issue with these phones, with lots of customers complaining about the problem online, and which we'd been trying to fix since June of 2015. So my wife took her phone into a corporate Verizon store here in San Diego (in Grossmont Center), just as the language of the Total Mobile Protection Coverage plan indicates she was supposed to do. The tech at the store said that he could do a factory reset on the phone to verify the problem, but that she could do this herself if she wanted to, after she made sure everything was backed up (a really great scare tactic, by the way, to push the responsibility back on the customer), after which he said she could just start the exchange process herself through phoneclaim.com or on her phone through the MyVerizon app. We had of course already done a factory reset, and this hadn't fixed the problem, but, regardless, my wife said she would do that and took the phone home to make sure everything was backed up. After my wife confirmed she had a full cloud backup of her phone, she launched MyVerizon on the phone and tried to initiate the replacement process. But instead she received a message that read "This line is not eligible for equipment protection." Confused, my wife called 611. After my wife described the history of her phone camera trouble, the Verizon customer service person then told her that, because of the phone's age, she needed to contact Asurion directly, rather than go through Verizon, to arrange for a phone replacement. So that's what my wife did, initiating a claim over the phone with Asurion as the Verizon customer service agent (and the Verizon technician in the store) had instructed her to do. Asurion processed her claim, but said it would cost $99 for a replacement phone. At this point, thinking that she had no other choice but to pay the $99, my wife completed the transaction. Now here's an interesting question: if Verizon's extended warranty didn't apply to the MAXX because of its age then *** why were we being charged $3 each month per phone for extended warranty protection? *** When I found out what had happened, I contacted Asurion and explained the situation, and they confidently informed me that "Verizon should have replaced your phone under the extended warranty portion of the agreement." Further, Asurion said the only way we could receive a refund on the $99 was to return the phone they had sent us. So I contacted Verizon customer service. THREE TIMES. Each time I was informed that, because we had already initiated a claim through Asurion, it was out of Verizon's hands...and they could not help us with the $99 cost. Interestingly, however, one of these folks actually ADMITTED that the Verizon tech at Grossmont should have replaced the phone under the extended warranty! I've had increasingly poor service from Verizon over the past two years, and this store has been the poster child for mistakes, incompetence and deception. So we're switching to T-Mobile. For HALF the cost of our Verizon bill, we're getting better cell phone coverage where we live AND unlimited data. And we even get to keep our old phones. Jeesh. read more

Very unaccommodating. I tried to upgrade my phone, so the lady asked for a pin number to confirm my position as a primary account holder. I retrieved the pin and yet i still was unable to upgrade. I believe there must have been some type of bias she held against me because I gave her the necessary information she asked for. A waste of time and energy. Horrible store. I mean beyond horrible. Came to switch from Verizon for my buisness. They told me all this stuff I could get and most.was "free" ect. Found my $800 bill! They lied and when I returned the stuff they didnt return it into the system and off my bill. Went back to the store I was very upset. They said they never told me all these things they said were free or "specials." I told them I would call corporate and the manager said "good luck, I been doing this for 10 years." And he kicked me out the store. Called corporate office and then i just got a call. They said they had a right to kick me out the store because supposedly I was cussing and yelling. I dont cuss or yell and make a fool of myself. I have self control. Unless they have a video of my cussing and yelling. Its he said she said. Well they will believe whatever their employees say. So the manager was right. Bottom line they dont care about their customers. They will take their employees side no matter how bad they treat you and rip you off. I have been having billing issue with Verizon for a month and a half. I visited last Monday and the employee was very helpful. He contacted their financial department and put me on the phone with a real person, just like that. I had to return on Wednesday for the same problem. A different employee dealt with someone else while I was explaining the situation and when that was done he interrupted me to say that there was nothing that he could do. At that point, I became angry. I insisted that he put me in touch with the same department that I dealt with before. He dialed a number and handed me the phone and told me that I would have to wait on hold. He then walked away and helped another customer. Twenty minutes later I was able to get the problem rectified. There were no chairs there so I sat on his desk. read more

My husbands phone hasn't worked for a week, we've called so many times, gone to the store, gotten a new phone, they can't seem to get it right. Yesterday it finally started working and then today i got an email stating that someone at this store went in and changed his SIM card number. His phone is not working AGAIN. I called the manager and she said they are TOO BUSY to help me but will get around to it. We pay $500 a month!!! I asked for her supervisors number and she refused and then hung up on me. I have had Verizon for years! This is the treatment we get? It's disgusting. I will pay all of the cancellation fees and take my business to att. This store is full of incompetent, rude employees and it's awful!!! The lady i spoke to has no business being a manager anywhere. Who hangs up on someone and refuses to get them in touch with their manager?! Honestly take your business ANYWHERE else. Okay, so like most people I saw the horrible reviews and did not want to step a foot in the store. However, with not much of a choice my girlfriend and I decided to visit anyway. To say the least, we were surprised at how good their customer service was. Yes they try to sell you cases and stuff but it's their job, and you would do the same if it were your job. Nonetheless, Stan helped us out and we were please with our experience here. Plus the Verizon network is superb and I am glad I left deadbeat Sprint...Could not be happier. Hope this helps! BEWARE! This store will mislead (lie is a harsh word) DO NOT participate in the EDGE program that they will tell you about. You are paying full price, and though they tell you no contracts it is at minimum a 2 year commitment. Additionally, they will reel you in with a low price of $8 month...after filling out all the paperwork they will then tell you that you don't qualify and you need to go with the 5S, Now you are at 28/month with a /month discount . They say you will be paying about $240 for the phone and no contracts....WRONG! you are paying FULL PRICE and it is a 2 year contract. They will try to sell you everything under the sun along with the misleading "deal" that you are getting. Avoid this store like the plague...and just FYI when I called the Corporate Offices, they agreed that what this store was doing was WRONG....they released me from the contract. One of the reps said if he were me he would be on CNN...this is FRAUD at it's best! Lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

I had to go and get some information on the unlimited plans and whether I could pay off my phone in my bogo plan. Jessica came and helped me in a short, timely manner. She was great! She answered all my questions. She got me on a perfect unlimited plan that will work awesome for me and gave the information needed on paying off my phone. Anything she wasn't quite sure about, she double checked for me with her supervisor before I made any commitments. It was getting close to closing time and she didn't flinch on giving me excellent service. Thank you Verizon for hiring strong, effective representatives. This is a review of the store and not a general love/hate post about Verizon Wireless which I notice a lot of these reviews are. Ruben was super helpful in switching our service from AT&T. I am fairly tech savvy and had done research online and knew the exact phones and plan we wanted. He did not try and upsell us and the phone porting process was very easy. He provided great customer service. There was an issue getting an additional iPhone 7 from a partner store which took an extra day so they waived the activation cost, which was unexpected from a phone company.
