Customer service was not great at this store. The manager of the store was also not very helpful when approached. She was too busy hanging with her staff talking and laughing and didn't want to be bothered. The device that I purchased was not set up correctly which resulted in me having to go back to the store for help and ultimately the device was returned because they were unable to get the device to work. I ended up going to T-Mobile for a better deal and hassle free set up. I've visited this Verizon location a handful of times. Each time it was a great experience. Apparently this location is their corporate site. They don't charge for SIM cards. I had to pick up a new SIM card because my daughter's phone kept displaying SOS. We tried everything online with a agent but nothing was working. We got here around 10am when they open and a within five minutes we had a representative help us. It was quick and simple process. She took out the old sim, destroy it and wait for new SIM card to activate. It can be up to a minute. Apparently newer iPhones have SOS issues. The store is nice and neat. Plenty of seating areas while you wait to be called. A lot of products displayed to look at and reel you in to buy it ahahaha. Plenty of parking at Grossmont mall. I am writing to recommend Angel Martinez at the Verizon Store located at 5500 Grossmont. On Tuesday, February 2, 2026, I called Verizon Technical Support for assistance in removing the biometric option on my device. The technician guided me through several steps until we reached the point where I needed to enter my password--a password I had not used since purchasing the device. After three unsuccessful attempts, I was locked out, and the ordeal began. I spent hours on the phone with Verizon that day, speaking with several customer service representatives who twice directed me to the store for help. I followed their instructions, but without success. By the end of the day, I agreed to perform a manufacturer reset, even at the risk of losing data. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. For all of Tuesday and Wednesday, I was without a functioning phone and unable to access my work applications, which require two step authentication. By Wednesday evening, I resorted to using an old device and was ready to give up on my newer, locked phone entirely. On Saturday, I contacted Verizon again. After another unsuccessful attempt by the technician to unlock the device remotely, I was asked--yet again--to return to the store. This was my third visit in four days, and by then I felt embarrassed even walking in. Still determined to get rid of the phone, I signed in and waited. The wait was long and excruciating. Finally, I was assisted by an employee named Angel Martinez. Some people truly live up to their name--Angel certainly did. He patiently troubleshot the locked device. The process was long, but he remained calm, focused, and persistent even smiling, working step by step until he finally restored my device to normal. Offers of "free insurance for 3 years" that according to customer service agents later were not possible and was being charged. Also, a line was added that customer service says may have been fraudulent by the in store rep. I want to assume the mistakes were honest but regardless my experience was poor. My son and I came in for a new screen protector. First time seeing the new check in system. They were short staffed so understandably there was just a bit of a wait time. This store commits insurance fraud. I went to upgrade my device and was told by both an associate and the store manager that in order to leave the store with a new device that it was REQUIRED that they add device protection. I informed the associate and the store manage that I did not want device protection and I was told that it is corporate policy that all new devices must have insurance in order to leave the store. THEY ARE COMMENTING INSURANCE FRAUD. I have already reached out to Verizon Corporate and will be filing a complaint with the BBB and the State of California Insurance Commission. This place is all about making money. They don't tell you ahead of time that you have to pay a month before they lied to you. There was a guy named Steve there, but he quit. He never told us anything about us upfront pay he lied to us. I knew I'm really well now he's hiding. Verizon sucks. I left Tmobile to go to them thinking it was good service. The other day service went down was stuck on SOS satellite. This never ever happened with Tmobile. I was with Verizon for 40 years when they were Balantic. I would give a no star if I could, this is not against this store at all it is for the unprofessional lying corp people that work in customer service out of the states. They have told me over many hours on the phone that a manager would call and help fix my phone bill, which they never have and have promised to cut my phone bill as well. Another thing they have never have. Then once I tried to escalate it to upper management the phone call would be cut off. All of the supervisors were to busy to pick up the phone call or they would say they would call back and never do. This is the biggest full of crap that I have ever dealt with. When I told them I would go online to see if I could get faster help, the rep at the door, Keani, was very rude. As I went to leave yelled "Bye" in an extremely condescending manner. No, "we are sorry for the inconvenience" or "we apologize for the extended wait". Just a rude an loud " Bye". When I asked him for his name he replied very rude to me....Keani "with a K". My husband and I have been Verizon customers for over 7 years. We had no problems with them. We recently switched phone companies because of needing a cheaper price... *Go with Tello if you want a cheaper phone bill and better customer service. We've had to deal with customer service over the phone multiple times recently. We left Verizon almost 2 months ago. Thankfully my husband checks our bank statements because they charged us and took money out of our account. Instead of having to deal with customer service over the phone again we decided to go into the store. We were hopeful that they would be able to help us. We were wrong. We walked into the store only to be met by a group of young workers on their phones. The young girl named Myjah had a very bad attitude and didn't even greet us with a smile. She just handed us the iPad to put our info into. We told her we were wrongfully charged and now we're with another phone company. She didn't even help us and said they couldn't help us there and that we needed to call customer service. Her attitude was so bad she could have been nicer. I then asked to speak to a manager. He wasn't helpful either. He was a little nicer. We ended up having to call customer service and wait on the phone for 30 min while still in the store. We were told we wouldn't get charged again and that the money would go back into our account 4-5 business days. Well it's been 8 days and the money still hasn't been reimbursed. I had to call customer service again and waited 20 min to even get through to someone. It then took over an hour to go through the same steps we had to a week ago. We were told that our last request was never processed. Are you kidding me?! The lady on customer service felt bad and knew we were very frustrated. We now have to wait 4 more days and see if it will get processed again. Dear Verizon, you need better customer service. This has been an awful experience.. This has been ridiculous. You need to train your in store workers better and do something that allows them to help customers with their accounts in store instead of speaking with people overseas. I have been a Verizon customer for 20+ years and I have never experienced this degree of horrible service. The manager definitely isn't a team player, isn't qualified for customer service jobs, and needs to just be taught basic manners. If you have everyone on your team working with a customer and the wait is over 1.5 hours and you're just walking around, on your phone and not helping your team that's not a good manager. This location has 2 self kiosk for check in process unlike in santee they don't have that. I'm comparing because I usually go to the santee location and I always see when and if it's busy every single team member is helping a customer. Everyone jumps in to greet the customer and let them know they will be helped soon and/or get checked in shortly. When I walked in at La Mesa I went through the self kiosk and from there the manager Bianca I believe is her name tom boy looking, didn't greet me properly. From the start she was rude and had attitude. Had us wait over an hour just to tell us she couldn't see an order on her end for pick up. Mind you there were 11 people ahead of me and she did not bother to help her team. When another employee I believe named Alex, helped me he was nice and was able to show and explain. But when she came back out to talk to me she cut me off, she didn't want to hear me, she talked down to me and was very rude and disrespectful. As someone who has been with Verizon for 20+ years it was an absolute nightmare! The worse customer service from a manager. Definitely needs proper training to be a face of Verizon. read more

Was greeted by " Alex " who told me there were 2 customers in front of me and there would be a wait and he would text me when it was my turn, no problem gave him my info and went outside to use Walmart. Came back and sat in the store and waited another 20 mins, watched another 5 people come in behind me and told the same thing. Long story short as I'm waiting one of the associates called a customer over who had come in after me and started to take his phone apart, when I questioned alex on this I was told that even though I was first in line this persons issue was a " quick fix " and mine could take up to 45 mins ( even though I was only looking to upgrade my phone and get some recommendations! ) He proceeded to tell me it was his decision who got seen first and that's the way it is and basically I could leave if I didn't like it! Guess what that's exactly what I did and walked into T-Mobile next door! I've been with Verizon over 11 years and this place is an absolute disgrace and supposedly it's one of Verizon's corporate flagship stores we'll let me tell you Mr Verizon lol it's not it's a dump run by disrespectful people who have no idea about customer loyalty or service and I would highly recommend that you don't use this place and find a store with better trained staff who actually want to work there and make a difference! First off-- KEON handled my needs immediately, professionally & accurately!! He even popped my phone onto a charger since when I walked into the store I was still on the line with Verizon customer service & I needed a store manager to verify my information for the phone rep. Not only that but Keon gave me his contact info if I needed anymore help afterward since he knew the issue I was having. He insured me that at least he would already be aware of the information from today & could easily get it handled if an issue arises after this. Which is the PEAK of customer service because I have had to call the Verizon customer service line & every time I have to re-explain the situation & that alone is agitating. Everyone in this store was attentive, checked in with me & everyone around me. Someone was ALWAYS being helped along! I only came in store because the Main customer service line for Verizon had me come in to verify who I was because I was unable to log into my account to get my account number. I had been still on the phone for 1.5 hrs at this point, but that's to no fault of this store. Overall-- Keon was able to assist in the biggest hurdle that the phone rep was having & it showed he knew exactly what he was doing & talking about. Huge shout out to Keon because he puts in the work & is so calm & collected to everyone that I saw him interact with. & his whole team this evening (July 31, 2024 @ 6:30pm-- onward) they were all GREAT! Terrible customer service at this location. I walked in and waited several minutes for anyone to acknowledge me. After a few minutes a guy with a tablet took my name and checked me in. Right after that some people came in behind me that were more loud and the aggressive. They were helped first even though they arrived 10 minutes after me. After waiting for way too long I was finally helped only to find out they had only old iPhones in stock. I left there without a new phone and went to the Verizon store in Santee. The Santee location is sooooo much better. I was helped right away at the Santee store and was able to purchase and activate a new iPhone in the amount of time it took me to wait to be helped at this store.
