Edit:
So, i sent a letter (via snail mail) and wow, was Verizon great. Should have i needed to? Probably not. However, i did. Their response was fast, courteous, professional and friendly. They completely resolved my issue, and i couldn't be happier. This would be a 5 star rating, if it wasn't for the problem in the firsthand. Nonetheless,Verizon has renewed my faith in dealing with them. They continue to be this responsive, and I'm with them for life.
I purchase two new LG G4 phones for nearly $1,000 in cost. One of the two one was with the black leather back (sku LG-VS986LD). Upon arriving home, this phone had significant heat issues and performance issues in which email accounts could not be established. I returned to the store a few hours after buying the phone, to return it, only to find that there were no additional models with the leather back, and that I would have to drive several miles to get one, or could go home and call Customer Service who would handle this via mail. In that I was leaving town within a few days, I could not await a new phone by mail, and in that I don't have a vehicle, I could not easily get to the other store.
I asked that the new phone simply have the back cover swapped out, but was told this was not possible, even though such covers are available for purchase from LG and other retailers. I also asked that they order me a phone with the leather cover, and I would return upon arriving back in town, and swap out the two phones. I was told this was not possible, since I already returned one phone, and that there would be a $35 restocking fee if I were to do so, and I only had 14 days to do so. I explained that the first return was apparently due to a product issue, and was nothing to do with me, but that did not make any difference.
In addition, upon activating the new phone, the exact same problems were encountered with the 2nd phone, in which email addresses could not be added. The manager, who just happened to have an LG G4, asked me to try and add the email accounts I was attempting to add to the newly purchased phone, to his phone. I did, and the set up went perfectly. The manager then suspected there was some account setting that was preventing the new phone from replicating the ease of adding the accounts that were able to be added to his phone. He then asked the sales clerk to contact "level 2 support" which she did. We spent hours in the store with staff and the manager, as well as on the phone with Technical Support to resolve this, which could not be readily done. We could not duplicate the easy process of adding the emails to the manager's phone to my new (2nd) phone.
The manager suggested that there was an app that might work. He proceeded to load it to my phone, and while not the best way nor preferred way to resolve the problem, it would suffice. Upon arriving home, I found that the app was a "trial" app with a 30 day trial window, meaning I had to purchase the app for $19.99, plus tax, for a cost of $21.84.
Before leaving the store, since it was apparent that the issues was not the first phone, but rather the unresolved account setting, which is still unresolved, I asked that the original phone with the black leather back cover be returned to me, since that is the one I wanted and originally purchased. I was told this was not possible, though given no reason why.
I contacted LG the next day, and was able to purchase the black leather (www.lg.com/us/mobile-accessories) cover for my phone, the exact one I wanted to swap on the two phones at the store, which was disallowed. Thus, another $69.95 out of pocket to resolve an issue Verizon was apparently unable or unwilling to resolve.
Thus, after spending nearly $1,000 at the store, I ended up having to pay an additional $91.79 to be able to use my phone, in the manner I originally wanted. I think it is shameful that Verizon would treat a customer like this, and one who has been with the company since 2009. My monthly service package has been nearly $200 per month, with 4 devices on the account. Somehow I mistakenly thought that retaining a customer like me would be important. read more
