I've been a customer of Verizon Wireless for over 10 years, and recently decided to start my business services with them. Unfortunately, this experience has made me seriously question that decision. I went To store to replace a stolen IPad. I visited the store at 1100 S Canal St in Chicago on Sunday and was initially told my claim was still processing. I understood and waited until Monday. On Monday, I confirmed with Verizon customer service that the credit for the replacement iPad had been applied, and the representative also sent me an email confirming that the credit was back on my account. I even called the store ahead of time to make sure the iPad was in stock, and I was told that it was. When I arrived, I spoke with a representative named Alonzo. While explaining my situation, the manager, Dianna, came over, did not say much or introduce herself, and began going through the Alonzo's tablet device. She then asked me to explain everything again. I gave her an explanation and even let her see confirmation email, she walked away without giving any clear direction and went to back room of the store. A few minutes later, Alonzo left and went to the back. He came back a few minutes and told me the iPad was no longer available. This didn't make sense since I had just confirmed it was in stock. When I asked for help finding another location or calling another store, I was basically told to figure it out myself. At that point, something felt off. I had a friend call the store while I was still there, and they were told by another employee, Xavier, that the iPad was actually still available. That was extremely frustrating and made me feel like I was being given the runaround. When I brought this up to the manager, she changed her explanation and told me I needed to call Verizon again before anything could be done, then walked away to help other customers while I was left sitting there trying to fix the issue on my own. In the end, I had to resolve everything myself with little to no support from the store staff. The lack of communication, professionalism, and consistency was disappointing. After being a loyal customer for so long, this experience left a bad impression. I expected much better, especially as someone bringing business to Verizon. read more

Today when I asked the Lincolnwood store manager if it's possible for phone assistance rather than to travel to the store, (because I am disabled and mostly home bound), the manager refused. When I asked them to please clarify why an ADA accommodation was not being considered, the manager hung up on me. I called back and they blocked my number. I was neither loud nor rude. I have been with Verizon for over a decade and will be leaving and filing a federal complaint. read more

Wtf just wow. There is a dishonest employee at that store. We bought home internet account and later an iphone with service plan. 3 years later, Equifax tips us off to a credit problem saying we owe many thousands to Verizon. Turns out that an additional account was opened in our name with many iphones purchased without service plans - uh duh, red flag. Then they closed the account. We never received bills because they used a different email address. They didnt use our credit card, but opened another account in our name and charged the phones thru there. That's an inside job to have all of your info because it takes so much IDing to open an account there. read more

T-Mobile had pissed me off for the last time! Back in the fall, with no warning, they cancelled my service because since the merger with Sprint, they no longer supported my "business" account. I didn't have a business account, wtf. They wouldn't turn my service back on unless I paid $700, which I didn't owe. Huh??? My daughter and I couldn't go a day without our phones so at the T-Mobile store I got a bootleg refill account with new numbers so we could have service. This sucked since we both had our numbers for years and it was a huge inconvenience to change numbers. But I had no choice. Fast forward to early February when I could no longer take being on T-Mobile's acme-ass plan and at the urging of a friend, I went to Verizon. Best decision ever. Anna took excellent care of of me. My daughter and I got brand new iPhone 15s, internet service, major discounts on all the streaming platforms we subscribe to, rebates and more. Because of the rebates, my first bill was extremely low and my future bills will be in line with my budget. I always had weird, surprise charges on my t-mobile bill and now I don't have to worry about that. I'm really happy I switched and wished I listened to my friend a year ago when he suggested I make the switch. Anna, the sales agent and store manager, Kia are professional and knowledgeable about Verizon's products and services and will go the extra mile to get 'er done. I'm happy. read more

Nightmare on Verizon Street: Converted off Verizon to Xfinity Mobile due to ridiculous ever escalating cellular bills. Verizon continued charging me for my Mobile devices for months after disconnecting them. It was also impossible to get to my old Verizon account. One representative said this happens all the time And said it was impossible for her to refund the double billed charges. I am writing a complaint letter to the investigative branch of the FCC and FTC because, based upon my discussions with reps, I believe this is an intentional obstruction of consumer carrier transfer, with perhaps many consumers receiving bills for heretofore transferred services for which they cannot get refunded. read more

Eight years later and we found ourselves back at this Verizon store. After reading many negative reviews I was not looking forward to go even though we desperately needed new phones. However, as you can tell based on the above rating, my worries were for nought. Xae, a delightful, knowledgeable young man provided us with excellent assistance. From selection through activation and syncing, we knew we were in good hands. We were also blessed with an assist from Kia who stepped in to help. They both took the time to ensure that these senior citizens left happy, many questions answered. They both exercised patience and kindness. This is a corporate store. read more

I spent over six hours on the phone with customer service and tech-support trying to activate a phone. I got my girlfriend for Christmas. This experience has left me so stressed out and upset. That's I will never do business with Verizon again. (BTW--what is a "business day" these days? Like, they don't ship or deliver on the weekend? Of course they do). But guess what--they still took my money, for a phone I don't have. No accountability--not willing to work with the shipping company to fix it. "We can't do anything." I thought this was a corporate Verizon store but they are just an authorized dealer that explains their scummy sales tactics and questionable business practices. Here is a shortlist of outrages lies they've told recently: 1) I went in with an iPhone that was purchased for me as a gift and wanted to get a prepaid plan because who wants to sign a contract for no reason? They told me they needed to run my credit anyway to see what I qualified for. Why would they need to run the person's credit who is not applying for credit? 2) I said no I'm sorry I don't want any credit from Verizon I just want the prepaid plan I already own the phone. Once again the representative tried to sell me. She said, "Well, we just need your credit information to see what priority you'd fall under on our network." I said, "I have excellent credit but I'm not applying for a contract, I just want my phone turned on for the prepaid service. Is this something you can do for me? 3) Once again she lies, "Well we would check the credit and get you in a contract to try to give you a higher priority on the network." Stares in disbelief knowing it's a lie, I said so you mean the prepaid service has worse service and are given a lower priority on the network than other customers? She says yes! Lol, I checked with the other stores and they all confirmed all of her responses were lies. She sets my phone up and I leave out without any issues. 4) My friend went into the store on Saturday to buy a new iPhone to replace his stolen phone. He asked that they mark his existing phone as stolen so no one could get it turned on. He also wanted to buy an iPhone outright to replace the stolen phone for his current prepaid plan. (Sigh) They tell him they marked his phone stolen, but in actuality, they just cut off his service there's a big difference between marking a device as stolen and cutting off service. Then he says he'd like to buy an iPhone to connect to his current prepaid plan and here's the biggest lie yet... they tell him they don't have any iPhones available for prepaid plans only contract service. Hahaha Completely confused he says what would be the difference in the phones for prepaid and contract service? They don't answer and more than one employee confirms they don't have any iPhones they can sell him for prepaid only contract service which the other iPhone store and Best Buy confirmed is a lie. There's no difference between contract phones and non-contract phones. The store was packed with customers and they probably did not want to go through the time to activate a phone they weren't getting a commission for but why lie? They lied because they are dishonest. When he went to another Verizon store they told him the phone wasn't marked stolen, the service was disconnected and he had to go through the trouble of reporting it stolen with them. They sold him an iPhone and confirmed that there's no difference between iPhones for contract and non-contract customers. The employees at the corporate store said,"If I would have said what that person said to you or any customers I would have been fired. These incidents took place on separate days with different sales reps so my guess is the management is awful. It's not just three or four bad employees because they all lack integrity and tell easily verifiable lies to make the sale. Being that this is not a corporate store there's no number to call, I will just refrain from using this store ever again. read more

We have been verizon customers as individuals and business owners for over 20 years but we are very frustrated tonight. A couple months ago we received a promotion email declaring eligibility for a new line, new phone without any additional charges. Our son was in need of a new phone so it seemed to be an ideal time. We went through the whole hassle at the store asking repeatedly if there were going to be any charges and were told no repeatedly. Wouldn't you know first bill comes and of course there are charges. Call customer service for over 2 hours & think it's resolved with a credit. Now second month in and still being charged. Another 2 hour call with customer service including a supervisor only to end up changing our plan in order to force them to keep their word on the line being free. I am seriously considering switching providers. It's bad enough to leave loopholes aka lie to your customers once much less a half dozen times. Either provide clearer training so everyone can clearly explain your promotions or own it when they do screw up and are charging customers who thought there would be no charge when they initially made the purchase. read more

Had an excellent experience coming into the South Loop Verizon on Canal! My phone is almost at that 2 year mark, and I was having trouble charging it for a couple weeks. Last night it wouldn't charge at all so I was sure I was going to need an upgrade. Rick, the rep I talked to, quickly looked at it and noticed that the charger didn't go in all the way. Turns out, there was a massive piece of lint stuck in the charging port - SUPER embarassing to see it all come out on the desk! Rick recommended I wait at the store to see if it fixed the problem and went over a few quick upgrade options while I waited. When my phone turned on, he didn't try at all to push a new phone on me which I really loved. Store was very clean and well organized. There is paid street parking available OR you can park in the garage (entrance behind the store) and get 90 minutes of parking validated. Great experience overall and will definitely return once it's time for my old phone to upgrade!! read more

Store Employee Cesar helped me add lines to my current phone plan. Recently separated from the military I was researching the process online and felt my particular situation was complicated but working with Cesar he was knowledgeable and experienced and when he didn't have an answer for my complicated situation he did not make any assumptions and did the honest research for me. He gave me a quote and helped me transfer my families existing phone numbers also informed me of a current free iPhone promotion that I wasn't expecting just for adding a line and helped me receive discounts I wasn't aware of like my Veteran discount and Auto pay discount. I tried to find a customer survey from Verizon online but unfortunately they don't have one, my point is his customer service was outstanding and unexpected that I decided to make a yelp just to write this, Thanks buddy! read more

This was the absolute worst experience with Verizon I have ever had. I have been a Verizon customer for almost 20 years and have stayed with them because of the great customer service. Until this store experience getting a new phone. Trying to exchange my old phone, they had trouble connecting my phone to the internet to back it up AFTER the purchase. They then charged me $130 to get my OLD PHONE back because the store was closing. They told me I could back it up at home and then bring it back the next day to get a refund for the $130. When I tried-- they told me I would only get $65 back. And yelled at me for claiming they said they would refund the $130 in the first place. After over 6.5 hours in the store, i finally had to call the corporate office to have this resolved. The manager literally walked away from me in the store and went into the back room rather than resolving my issue. Luckily-- Verizon corporate office lived up to my customer service expectations and I won't be leaving the company... yet. Filed a formal complaint against this store and the manager who yelled and walked away. And recommend that folks choose a different store when needing to visit a Verizon retail location. read more

Went in to pay a bill, seems like a very simple task! The store was empty and a young lady check me in. I stood around for 20 minutes and observed the lady whom checked me in and another employee sitting at the counter on their hand held tablets. The only other sales person on the floor was with someone who was contemplating what phone to get and I overheard the sales person say "I'll give you 10 minutes to think about it" and then proceeds to a corner to "play" on his hand held tablet. Still standing there, I finally left while everyone stared into their screens. It's like living in a twilight zone! read more

Verizon Wireless apparently teaches its employees to lie about facts. Went into a store to set up a new account and during the process the store Rep Trevor was prevented from setting up account because my credit was frozen. I explained to him that it was frozen by me and that I didn't allow anyone to check my credit and that I would be happy to pay a deposit or explore other options because I wasn't allowing my credit to be run. I was told by the manager at the time that "verizon doesn't do hard pulls and that it would only be a soft pull" i told him to make sure becuase if it did in fact become a hard pull we were going to have a problem and that I would promptly filing a lawsuit against verizon for FCRA violations for accessing my credit reports illegally as well as the ensuing damage to my report by an additional inquiry on my report. After removing the freeze and setting up the account the very next day I received an alert that my account had a hard inquiry from Verizon I called up to the store and was told by a rep that he remembered me and confirmed that he too thought it was a soft pull but he also remembers me and that I was adamant about not giving authorization to verizon to check my credit if it was a hard pull. After talking to a Latoya at the Executive office for Verizon i was told that they couldn't substantiate I was told bad information, to which i asked did you speak to those at the store? She replied they sent in a request and couldn't tell me the internal procedures. I asked again if they talked to the multiple reps that I listed by name including Trevor, she said "i sent a request". So either they are teaching their employees to lie outright or they think people are afraid to sue a large company...wrong. I walked into this Verizon store to get an estimate on how much it would cost to upgrade and get a new phone. I had previously gone to another location and they did nothing for me. I was greeted with a smile and a bottle of water( yes the little things are the ones that count). I was given a deal but unfortunately that day I couldn't do the transaction. I didn't feel pressured to do anything I didn't want to do. I returned the next day and I spoke to Chase (same rep as the previous day) and I was so happy with the deal I was able to get. It was better than I thought! I got two iPhone 6's and numerous accessories for my phones for a SUPER economical price. Chase spent all the time necessary to go through every detail and get my wife and I a good deal. Jonathan was also very knowledgeable when it came to wireless home appliances! I will never go to another Verizon store again this location is worth the trip! read more

Like other reviews have said. This is the BEST Verizon store in the city. The staff was super friendly. I came in to upgrade and they took care of me very quickly. I wasn't rushed, even through the holiday shopping rush, and got exactly what I wanted. I was even given a bottle of water! (The small things, right?) Jonathan, the manager was super great!! Came and asked how everything was going and went out of his way to help me with all aspects of my Verizon experience. I stopped by for an in store pick up at this location. The moment I walked in I felt like I didn't belong. I was told to wait at the door while the employees left to the back. Everyone stayed away from me. I was not allowed to touch anything. My purchase was brought to me and I was then told to have a nice day and was escorted out the door. The door was locked behind me, almost as if to say I was not welcomed back. I think the employee sanitized her hands after as well. The device was not activated like in previous visits to this store so I had to do it on my own at home. The set up process on my own took 45 minutes since I'm not a trained Verizon employee. I leave a 2 star rating because parking was convenient, I was the only car parked at the location which was nice. read more

I went into this store because we recently switched from AT&T and my mothers phone was working. Now my guy that I've been working with is at another location and my mother didn't have time to drive that far. So we walk in, I was greeted but I was on the phone so I wrapped up my conversation and proceeded to the stand. Two women were there and asked what I needed so I proceeded to explain. Then one woman said someone will be with you shortly. While the second woman said "oh just call in to our porting department ". She handed me a phone dialed a number and walked off. So at this point I'm like huh? Now that doesn't sound like good customer service. Notice I haven't used any names yet because they aren't wearing any nor have they introduced themselves. A few minutes goes by and the second woman comes back like "why did you hang up" I said because I came in for service not to be thrown on a phone. At this point I'm texting my rep from the other store and he double checked my port and had me power cycle the device. The first woman walks up and I pretty much expressed my dissatisfaction and asked her name and mentioned that she hadn't told me it up to this point. Her name is Gloria. Very disappointing that my account never was pulled up never asked my name never showed an ounce of wanting to help. I'm glad this wasn't my first experience with Verizon or I wouldn't have switched. read more
