I'm really glad to have found this place in the east bay. I made an appointment over the phone, and when I walked in, I was seated right away. I got gel X (65$) with french (extra $10) and a gel pedicure (55$). it is a little hard to find for your first time, it will be located inside J Salon. The color options are fantastic and the salon is extremely clean. I went in for a regular manicure, pedicure - they did a great job. My only complaint- they did the manicure while doing the pedicure and it was so uncomfortable. It didn't feel very "spa" like. I booked a mani pedi appt based on yelp reviews, and they mentioned they're brand new in Dublin downtown. So I assumed the service will be great, typically people put in extra effort with brand new business . I was there Wednesday 1/ 14 - including me it was only two customers and two technicians but let me tell you my technician was rude, not very welcoming but what makes me disappointed and angry is the service , after up charging me so much for the nails, they literally started chipping the next day . I called before coming. They are locaed inside Js salon. I believe its the same owner for all of it. Her name is Linda. She was lovely. She had a conversation with me the entire time I did my nails. It was fun. My nail tech was Katie. She didnt speak English but her work was perfect. I paid 45 for gel manicure, only down side they didnt soak my fingers in water before cutting cuticles. And I had 1 broken finger nail so she put a tip on for me and changed me $10 extra dollars. It was a gel x tip but I felt that price was ridiculous. I would have paid $10 for for all 10 fingers to have gel x. The pricing didnt make sense. Thats why there is 4 stars. That price should have been disclosed sooner so I could make a better decision. Other than that, I can say I would go back their work and customer service was great. read more

Ok, I waited until I've been going to this place about a year before leaving a fair review. I needed to see consistency to solidify my opinion. Mind you, when I leave reviews, they are carefully and mindfully constructed. I had been going to another nail salon for about 12 years because ANY other place I've tried could not meet the same high standards as that one. Well during a very busy time in my life, I wanted to squeeze some mani-pedi time into my schedule, and my usual spot didn't have any availability. Enter Venice Nail Spa! I went to Venice Nail Spa with the expectation that I'd just get the minimum done in lieu of what I usually get. This place not only holds high standards, they have far exceeded my expectations, even in comparison to my previous go-to salon. They are professional, clean, meticulous (and I mean, attentive to every detail), pleasant, and accommodating - they literally let me stop my nail session midway to pick up my child from school and come right back, just so my nails could look their BEST, and not rushed. And Tina is amazing and very skilled and efficient, but also ALL staff here are. To the point where I don't have a preference on who does my nails there.... And that says a LOT coming from me. What's best is that they are honest and receptive - if they are unable or unclear about what you want, they will ask or get clarification, or just simply tell you they are unable (rare), but give other beautiful suggestions. So in short - even though it's a little further away from my home, Venice Nail Spa is and has been my new go-to place. The main reason for my low stars is the hygiene. Outwardly- they take many precautions, sanitized equipment in bags to keep them from contamination, but they use soiled buffers/nail files with other people's nail powder on it. I can look past that as many salons don't follow that law to a T, what I can't look past was when they dropped 3 things they were using on me (2 of them are my nails attached to me right now) and didn't so much as bat an eye or even blow or attempt to clean them. What was the other item? A nail tip that they were using to pop off my other acrylics (which I wasn't a fan of and was pretty uncomfortable, and they poked me a few times). What annoyed me the most was they had told me on the phone that they didn't have time to do acrylic nails, but they had time for gel-x. Maybe I'm bougie but the nail salons I go to usually take 1.5-2 hours for acrylics. This took 2.5 hours-I would have rather gotten acrylics than the gelX. And the total came to $95- I don't mind paying a pretty penny for my nails, as everyone sees them. But for the quality I received and using products that had fallen on the floor made my stomach immediately turn. Not everyone is comfortable with speaking up and I just wanted to get out of there as soon as I could at that point. I've never not tipped, even when I'm not completely happy with the service, but this was the one time I didn't tip. The nail salon and the women themselves are very kind. And my nails are decent, I'm not mad with how they came out. But I was just left with my stomach churned and in absolute awe given the strict health and safety codes for salons. And please Mr. Salon owner- if you're going to reply to me- please do so with professionalism as I've seen that line crossed already in many of your responses. read more

I had gel builder on my nails and they literally dissolved my actual nail and ground my actual nail down until my tips were paper thin. Waste of $130. Wanted to try a local nail salon but never again. Color selection was also quite limited. Save your money. Don't go. Response to owner: I was there on Thursday 5/22 at 10:30 am. And i spent $60 on a gel manicure and $55 on a regular pedicure which equals $115, plus I added $15 tip. I don't need to make up stories about you having limited color choices... I was given limited color choices, and that's a fact. The only colors the girls kept showing me were sheer and I didn't want sheer. I desperately needed a pedicure and came to Venice Nail Spa (the sign outside says J Salon & Spa). I got the Signature Pedicure with gel for $65 with Jessica. I really appreciated her attention to detail and that she took her time to make sure my nails were perfect. Maybe because I was the only one there but I loved the care I received! I'm not sure I would get a Signature pedicure next time... maybe just a classic since I didn't feel like the massage was worth it. But overall I enjoyed my experience. I have tried this shop on a number of occasions for Nails and pedi and every time I've gotten in gel nails they have chipped within a few days not even lasting a week. It is totally my fault that I have gone back 3 times, partially because they are very nice and if Tina does the nails and they're done right, but after sharing with her, my concerns, she still allowed another technician to do my nails and again they did not last. They're so nice and so apologetic but now that this has happened three times I feel like I need to let other people know. I don't have money to give away and I even try to give tips because when I look at them, they look great but they don't last. I should also say they do offer to repair them, but I have to use gas and time to go back and I just don't believe that's fair. I also want to add that I reached out directly to let Tina to let her know that I was going to write this review and she basically turned it around to make it seem like it's my fault. Yet when she does my nails they are fine. So I guess the lesson is don't be nice, if they mess up once don't go back. I will agree that I should not have gone back. I don't usually go off Yelp reviews alone because I like to experience places for myself what may not be a good fit for someone else could still be a good fit for me. But in this case, I felt the need to share my experience. I recently moved to a new city and was looking for a nail salon, so I decided to give this place a try. I walked in with high hopes, but immediately didn't feel welcomed. The vibe was just... off. I had planned to get their deluxe package ($75 with gel) and asked for French tips, which they said would be an extra $10 totally fine and standard. I also had one broken toenail that needed a tip to even everything out. To my surprise, they wanted to charge an additional $10 just for that one nail. Even then, I agreed, since I was already there. What made me uncomfortable was the back-and-forth conversation between the nail tech and another staff member. The nail tech actually said multiple times that $10 for one toenail was too expensive, but the other insisted it was fine to charge me. I sat there listening as they debated the price while still working on removing my old polish. It felt like a game of trying to squeeze extra money out of me, even though one of them knew it wasn't right. At that point, I told them to just finish the cleaning and that I didn't want to continue with the service. As I was leaving, I overheard the nail tech say to the other that this was exactly why I was leaving. I finally responded in Vietnamese (which they clearly didn't expect me to understand) and explained that the price itself wasn't the problem it was the uncomfortable way it was handled, making me feel like they were trying to take advantage of me. I was ready to pay what they asked, but the lack of professionalism, transparency, and respect made me decide not to return. On a brighter note, after I left, I found a new salon Ryu Nail Bar and absolutely fell in love the moment I walked in. The atmosphere, service, and overall experience were night and day compared to my first stop. I didn't share my full experience at Ryu here, but let's just say there was a huge difference, and I will definitely be going back. read more

The quality of the products, their knowledge and expertise are incredible. Service was great! The only thing better than the quality and service is the jaw dropping color selection. I'll come here everytime for the color selection alone! Linda gave me a star treatment and made me feel like a familiar regular immediately and Tina suggested solutions for my really damaged nails. Neither service offering felt pushy. The pricing is beyond fair for the higher quality you get here.
