I really want to shine some light on her & her staff for handling a challenging situation that happened Saturday 12/20 with such grace and professionalism. There was a customer who was beyond unhappy with their service. Instead of Minh Minh getting upset she was calm & listened carefully to resolve the issue. It was impressive to watch her and her staff maintain composure to make sure the customer was heard. Even when the dissatisfied customer was making a scene in front the whole salon. Stopped here to get my gel x removed. Did not have an appointment and found it because it was close to my place, and they were so nice! They were able to squeeze me in and took great care of my nails. She was very precise with her polish placement and took the time to make sure my nails looked good. My technician Natalie was very kind and walked me through all of my options before starting on my nails. She was very considerate, asking me if I liked my nails at every step of the way, and I love the way they turned out!!! I got gel-x with a design and they charged me $100 for the service, which is relatively cheaper than other salons in our area! I've gotten so many compliments on my nails, I love them! I am not much for writing reviews, but this place deserves one. I just had one of the best nail bar experiences ever. The owners and staff are so kind. I love that it's a mother-daughter duo that own this place, and love supporting women-run business. They had donuts, sparkling waters, and gifts for customers for mothers' day: I left with a beautifully designed and curated gift bag with a very nice glass iced coffee cup with glass straw, and mini electric nail fan. Tammy did a builder gel mani for me with a neutral cat eye design . I've been doing dip for the last few years and she recommended it. I love it so much. Linh did a fantastic job on my gel pedicure and he gave a good massage too. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and get me the exact color and style I wanted and they even surprised me with a coffee from next door. Not sure how to express my gratitude to the RYU Nail Bar. It started with a phone call, inquiring if they accommodate someone with a disability and using a transport chair. The female on the other side of the phone, Sophia, with no hesitation, said "of course we can accommodate you!" Just then, an appointment reminder text for 4pm popped up on my phone. As soon as my husband pushed me in, friendly faces greeted us and made sure I was comfortable. Everyone there made adjustments and bent over backwards to assist me in being able to get my feet into the basin. Tears started flowing down my face as I couldn't believe that a nail shop would do all this for me. From Rose, who took care of my manicure, to Anne, who serviced my pedicure, they both were very sympathetic and crying with me the whole time I was there. My husband and I have called around to several shops, only to be told they are unable to accommodate or service clients in wheelchairs. RYU Nail Bar truly provides exceptional service and care to actually help me. Anne was such a sweetheart and we truly became close with the crew there. I live in SF and commute all the way to East Bay because Minh JUST THAT GOOD! Not only is she the sweetest person you'll ever meet, she is meticulous and thorough. She actually listens and cares about what you is it that you're asking and executes it perfectly every time! NAIL I always get the Builder Gel/ Hard Gel Overlay whenever I see Minh Minh for my hair touch up. The color selection at RYU is amazing and they're always up to date with the latest trends. What I love most about the way she does it is that she doesn't apply hard gel too thick & she doesn't grind off too much of my natural nail off, leaving the nail bed still healthy. If your nails are brittle or have a habit of biting your nails, I'd recommend getting Builder Gel! HAIR I discovered Minh Minh on my Instagram feed (talk about targeted ads working am I right?), made an appointment and never looked back. I always ask for Dimensional Balayage as this is easy to maintain and grows out very natural. Minh Minh's blending skills are one of a kind & the reason why I keep coming back to her. I did not reach out to the salon and was planning on going back in June during my next appointment. I had actually used a file to shape my nails from the round shape to more of an almond shape (badly). However, I was shocked because MinhMinh reached out and asked me to come in to redo my nails for me. She refilled my nails and redid the whole set. She even was a sweetheart and let me pick a new color because the bright blue was bothering me. I've never had someone from a salon reach out like this and make it right. It's so clear how much Minh Minh cares about the work that she does and the pride she has in making sure her customers are satisfied. I don't have to go back in June. This level of accountability and professionalism makes this hands down THE nail place to go to and most likely my future nail place. When I went back to the salon, everyone was friendly and pleasant. ZERO STARS - absolutely terrible nail service. You can see for yourself with the photos. They did my sisters nails (who is a minor) and when I called to ask them to fix the nails, the person on the phone said "if she had a problem with the nails she should've said something" I said "well she's a child, of course she doesn't want to be rude" and the nail salon associate said "okay let me call my manager" and when I called back she said "I'm too busy right now I'm not going to fix her nails. Post whatever you want on google and yelp! I don't care." And I said "are you sure you don't want to ask your manager Ming Ming like you said?" And she said "no" and hung up. I went in on a Friday morning with an appt after booking through instagram messaging (10/10 for ease). I saw their instagram and wanted to try out a new nail salon. I was greeted with a smile and the facility is clean as they're fairly new. I originally set my appt for a regular manicure, but was convinced to do gel. I normally do gel but haven't done my nails in a while and just wanted to be gentle but went with gel anyway because of the longevity of it. The reason for 2 stars: When my cuticles were getting cleaned up, I felt my skin being tugged a little too hard and it didn't feel very gentle. within 2 days, I had 2 nails already chopping and the gel was lifting. In less than a week, I have 5 nails chipping which shouldn't be happening with good quality gel. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately will not be back because I don't think it's quite quality polish. read more
