I called in the morning to make an appointment for 3 pedicures & a fill. They told me we could come in at 4:15 for our appointments, which we did. They were running about 20-30 minutes behind which they communicated to us however - i do feel like that was a long time to just be waiting. The issue really came in when 1 of the employees messed up my daughter's toe & she was asked to fix it & she had an attitude and was so rough. Listen - if you don't want to work with people or have someone speak up for their selves because they're paying for a service, you shouldn't be in customer service. I think it's pretty simple. 2nd of all, the prices they hit my daughter with for her fill was ridiculous. It was a simple French with a. Flower & they wanted $105. Unheard of. Literally unheard of. I am convinced they didn't wanna do her nails, furthermore when they first provided the price i was pretty vocal that the price didn't match what she wanted & then they walked away & never circled back to see if she wanted something different. This was only to be discovered when she was sitting there waiting to show them a different picture and waiting on someone to come help her. The other issue being that they were talking about us the entire time. Honestly i usually don't care, but i had my mom and daughter with me. This was our first and last time here. The girl that was in the front was very polite and kind, i do have to be honest with that. It's very unfortunate because we were looking for a new salon as this was closer to home. However - first impressions matter & them talking bad, not following up or even trying to be helpful - is so disappointing. I would have given it no stars if i could have. We all work hard for our money & in this day & age, i would have liked to have enjoyed the time i spent away from home to "treat myself". read more

Minh Minh and her team always do an amazing job at RYU. I really want to shine some light on her & her staff for handling a challenging situation that happened Saturday 12/20 with such grace and professionalism. There was a customer who was beyond unhappy with their service. Instead of Minh Minh getting upset she was calm & listened carefully to resolve the issue. It was impressive to watch her and her staff maintain composure to make sure the customer was heard. Even when the dissatisfied customer was making a scene in front the whole salon. The staff did not act aggressive or rude when handling this tough situation. Regardless of witnessing this altercation. Loyal clients at RYU have class & respect. From my Gel-X to now Builder Gel manicures. YES the green cat-eye is my natural nail length due to builder gel ! The quality and salon service is IMPECCABLE! I love that it's a mother-daughter duo that own this place, and love supporting women-run business. They had donuts, sparkling waters, and gifts for customers for mothers' day: I left with a beautifully designed and curated gift bag with a very nice glass iced coffee cup with glass straw, and mini electric nail fan. Tammy did a builder gel mani for me with a neutral cat eye design . I've been doing dip for the last few years and she recommended it. I love it so much. Linh did a fantastic job on my gel pedicure and he gave a good massage too. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and get me the exact color and style I wanted and they even surprised me with a coffee from next door. They were able to squeeze me in and took great care of my nails. She was very precise with her polish placement and took the time to make sure my nails looked good. My technician Natalie was very kind and walked me through all of my options before starting on my nails. She was very considerate, asking me if I liked my nails at every step of the way, and I love the way they turned out!!! I got gel-x with a design and they charged me $100 for the service, which is relatively cheaper than other salons in our area! I've gotten so many compliments on my nails, I love them! It was also very serene and welcoming inside, they offered me water and had tv playing! I'll definitely come back to Ryu for my next manicure :) read more

I thought it was going to be GelX nails again but she did acrylics/dip this time around. Not sure how to express my gratitude to the RYU Nail Bar. It started with a phone call, inquiring if they accommodate someone with a disability and using a transport chair. The female on the other side of the phone, Sophia, with no hesitation, said "of course we can accommodate you!" Just then, an appointment reminder text for 4pm popped up on my phone. As soon as my husband pushed me in, friendly faces greeted us and made sure I was comfortable. Everyone there made adjustments and bent over backwards to assist me in being able to get my feet into the basin. Tears started flowing down my face as I couldn't believe that a nail shop would do all this for me. From Rose, who took care of my manicure, to Anne, who serviced my pedicure, they both were very sympathetic and crying with me the whole time I was there. My husband and I have called around to several shops, only to be told they are unable to accommodate or service clients in wheelchairs. RYU Nail Bar truly provides exceptional service and care to actually help me. Anne was such a sweetheart and we truly became close with the crew there. ZERO STARS - absolutely terrible nail service. You can see for yourself with the photos. They did my sisters nails (who is a minor) and when I called to ask them to fix the nails, the person on the phone said "if she had a problem with the nails she should've said something" I said "well she's a child, of course she doesn't want to be rude" and the nail salon associate said "okay let me call my manager" and when I called back she said "I'm too busy right now I'm not going to fix her nails. Post whatever you want on google and yelp! I don't care." And I said "are you sure you don't want to ask your manager Ming Ming like you said?" And she said "no" and hung up. I started getting my hair & nails done with Minh Minh ever since she was operating from her home salon years ago so this review is looooong overdue! I live in SF and commute all the way to East Bay because Minh JUST THAT GOOD! Not only is she the sweetest person you'll ever meet, she is meticulous and thorough. NAIL I always get the Builder Gel/ Hard Gel Overlay whenever I see Minh Minh for my hair touch up. The color selection at RYU is amazing and they're always up to date with the latest trends. What I love most about the way she does it is that she doesn't apply hard gel too thick & she doesn't grind off too much of my natural nail off, leaving the nail bed still healthy. If your nails are brittle or have a habit of biting your nails, I'd recommend getting Builder Gel! HAIR I discovered Minh Minh on my Instagram feed (talk about targeted ads working am I right?), made an appointment and never looked back. I always ask for Dimensional Balayage as this is easy to maintain and grows out very natural. Minh Minh's blending skills are one of a kind & the reason why I keep coming back to her. Although I live in SF, I will always make the drive out to East Bay because I will not let anyone else touch my hair! RYU Nail Bar is spacious & clean. I'm so proud of her for opening her own salon! I had actually used a file to shape my nails from the round shape to more of an almond shape (badly). However, I was shocked because MinhMinh reached out and asked me to come in to redo my nails for me. She refilled my nails and redid the whole set. She even was a sweetheart and let me pick a new color because the bright blue was bothering me. I've never had someone from a salon reach out like this and make it right. It's so clear how much Minh Minh cares about the work that she does and the pride she has in making sure her customers are satisfied. I don't have to go back in June. This level of accountability and professionalism makes this hands down THE nail place to go to and most likely my future nail place. When I went back to the salon, everyone was friendly and pleasant. I went back for a second time for my nail. The tech that did my nails that time was horrible. My builder gel nails were all uneven and she didn't paint it all the way. I was super unhappy with my nails. Not only that, it only lasted TWO WEEKS! cut to today, I scheduled an appt with Natalie. I didn't with her the second time cause I was in a rush and couldn't do it on a Sunday. I had my Nails done by Natalie today. Oh my gosh! She is AMAZING! She made sure that she did my nails perfectly and helped me find the perfect color. It was night and day from the other tech I used. I also made sure I looked at the reviews before I chose the other lady. But this just goes to show to stick with the tech that works best for you. Natalie is amazing and super kind. I went in on a Friday morning with an appt after booking through instagram messaging (10/10 for ease). I saw their instagram and wanted to try out a new nail salon. I was greeted with a smile and the facility is clean as they're fairly new. I originally set my appt for a regular manicure, but was convinced to do gel. I normally do gel but haven't done my nails in a while and just wanted to be gentle but went with gel anyway because of the longevity of it. The reason for 2 stars: When my cuticles were getting cleaned up, I felt my skin being tugged a little too hard and it didn't feel very gentle. within 2 days, I had 2 nails already chopping and the gel was lifting. In less than a week, I have 5 nails chipping which shouldn't be happening with good quality gel. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately will not be back because I don't think it's quite quality polish. read more

I got structured gel for the first time and was super excited. Within a week the gel was already chipping off. The gel overlay was on my nails super thin compared to how the place I go to now does them. Maybe that's why they chipped so fast? The place was cute and Minh was cool to talk to. She did my nails. I made an appt for a mani/pedi at 3pm. Spent almost two hours here because that's how long it took from start to finish ( an hour 45 mins to be exact). Kim did my nails and took so long because she had trouble painting on flowers. I asked for regular mani but she kept telling me to do a gel version so I agreed. When she was struggling to paint the flower on my nail, I told her to let's just forget about it because by now it was like the fourth or fifth attempt, but she kept reassuring me that she can make it look nice. Then I moved into the pedicure massage chair and Tammy did a great job. I assumed they would start mani/pedi at the same time or close to one another so that the services overlapped but that wasn't the case with my appointment. I will still come back because Tammy did a great job but I will try Pari for manicure instead. Second visit: Took a day off and came middle of the afternoon and was able to get my mani pedi at the same time after telling them it took way tooo long last time. Smooth sailing so I go back for a third visit. Third visit: Made an appointment for 4:30 for mani pedi with Kim and whomever was available. It was packed when I got there at 4:20pm. I was told I would have to wait about 15 mins. I didn't get seated until 4:48. I picked a color but then the brush on the bottle was missing. I pick another color but the color in the box wasn't the one I picked. I pick another color and the same thing happens three more times. By now the tech is annoyed because the staff aren't putting the nail polish back into the appropriate boxes so the colors are all mixed up. Kim starts my pedi and I assume no one is doing my mani so I guess I'll just forego it. After my pedicure was finished , Kim says she's going to do my manicure. I reluctantly say yes because I honestly didn't want to spend two hours there. But since Kim said she would do it, I say okay. Well Kim leaves and another lady does my nails. I didn't like her job at all but said nothing and paid and tipped. Ended up here for two hours again. And my lower back was killing me after this. $30 for a basic mani and $40 for a basic pedicure and they can't even do it at the same time but tell me they can do it at the same time then I show up with my appointment and there is zero management of who is doing what etc. I'm going to take my money elsewhere. So don't come here unless you have 2 hours minimum to get a mani pedicure or book only 1 service at a time. read more

I was assisted by Tammy, who used acrylic to extend the broken nails rather than replacing them with new tips. Unfortunately, the repaired nails began chipping within a week, and the fill was not filed smoothly on the sides to blend with the natural nail. Given the quality of the service and how quickly the repairs failed, I was disappointed--especially considering the $65 charge.
