*I had my nails done here, and by the fourth day, several of them had already broken at the tips. I went back for a repair, but I was told the technician who did my nails wasn't there. A few days later, I called to make an appointment with the same technician, but I was told she was too busy and another technician could do the repair. I preferred to wait for the original technician. When I called again, I found out they wanted to charge me $8 per nail for the repair. I don't think it's fair to charge customers for fixing nails that started breaking only four days after the service. I expected them to stand behind their work. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. I won't be coming back, and I'll be choosing a different nail salon in the future. read more

I started getting my hair & nails done with Minh Minh ever since she was operating from her home salon years ago so this review is looooong overdue! I live in SF and commute all the way to East Bay because Minh JUST THAT GOOD! Not only is she the sweetest person you'll ever meet, she is meticulous and thorough. She actually listens and cares about what you is it that you're asking and executes it perfectly every time! NAIL I always get the Builder Gel/ Hard Gel Overlay whenever I see Minh Minh for my hair touch up. The color selection at RYU is amazing and they're always up to date with the latest trends. What I love most about the way she does it is that she doesn't apply hard gel too thick & she doesn't grind off too much of my natural nail off, leaving the nail bed still healthy. If your nails are brittle or have a habit of biting your nails, I'd recommend getting Builder Gel! HAIR I discovered Minh Minh on my Instagram feed (talk about targeted ads working am I right?), made an appointment and never looked back. I always ask for Dimensional Balayage as this is easy to maintain and grows out very natural. Minh Minh's blending skills are one of a kind & the reason why I keep coming back to her. Although I live in SF, I will always make the drive out to East Bay because I will not let anyone else touch my hair! RYU Nail Bar is spacious & clean. I'm so proud of her for opening her own salon! Her work is finally getting more recognition and Minh Minh deserves all her flowers. If you're into good nails, good vibes, and supporting women owned businesses, make your way to RYU nail bar! Trust me, you won't regret it! P.S. the boba spot next door is also family owned, what's better than hair & nails? HAIR, NAILS, AND BOBA!! :) read more

I came today for the first time and Linh gave me an amazing basic pedicure. He was incredibly meticulous in painting my little toes and got the entire toe (not missing the edges). The entire staff was so nice and polite and the salon is super clean. Now, the colors every color you can imagine. All new nail color lines too. I will absolutely be coming back to Linh. read more

I visited back in February and had my nails done by Tammy, she was so kind, professional, and made my first builder gel experience super smooth. What impressed me most is the retention of trying builder gel. My nails have not lifted or chipped at all in over 2 months! I also got my babylights touched up by Minh Minh, and she was absolutely amazing--so welcoming, attentive, and down to earth. She really listened to what I wanted and made the whole experience feel personalized and comfortable. The final result was stunning--the color and dimensions looked soft, natural, and blended beautifully with my hair. Highly recommend Tammy and Minh Minh, if you want long-lasting, beautiful results and a genuinely great experience! read more

Such a cute nail shop! I'm glad I found this place. I live about 10 mins away & it honestly was one of the best gel builder manicures that I have received. The workers are efficient, kind & knowledgeable. The owner Minh was so personable & really made you feel welcome in her shop. I throughly enjoyed my first time there & will absolutely be back again next month. read more

I did not reach out to the salon and was planning on going back in June during my next appointment. I had actually used a file to shape my nails from the round shape to more of an almond shape (badly). However, I was shocked because MinhMinh reached out and asked me to come in to redo my nails for me. She refilled my nails and redid the whole set. She even was a sweetheart and let me pick a new color because the bright blue was bothering me. I've never had someone from a salon reach out like this and make it right. It's so clear how much Minh Minh cares about the work that she does and the pride she has in making sure her customers are satisfied. I don't have to go back in June. This level of accountability and professionalism makes this hands down THE nail place to go to and most likely my future nail place. When I went back to the salon, everyone was friendly and pleasant. Nobody was rude, and everyone took an interest in making sure the customers were happy. It didn't matter if it was a returning customer or someone who was a walk in. read more

ZERO STARS - absolutely terrible nail service. You can see for yourself with the photos. They did my sisters nails (who is a minor) and when I called to ask them to fix the nails, the person on the phone said "if she had a problem with the nails she should've said something" I said "well she's a child, of course she doesn't want to be rude" and the nail salon associate said "okay let me call my manager" and when I called back she said "I'm too busy right now I'm not going to fix her nails. Post whatever you want on google and yelp! I don't care." And I said "are you sure you don't want to ask your manager Ming Ming like you said?" And she said "no" and hung up. When I showed up to the salon, the nail technician walked up aggressively towards my minor sister but I intervened because I was not going to let her physically or verbally attack a minor. read more

Staff was so friendly & their attention to detail was so good!! Very gentle and careful as well. I got a builder gel fill by Kimmy and she was so nice! I tried to do a french tip Cateye, which she had never done before, so it didn't come out perfect but she tried learning it on the spot & it still came out really cute! A little pricey, but I would definitely come again for the service. They also gave me a little thank you gift for the holidays that had nail oil, hand scrub & a cute little note! read more

First time at Ryu and they nailed it! I asked for gel-x in a neutral color; but at the last minute decided to get nail art (the zodiac for my kids). I'm sure this was an odd request and it being last minute I was worried it wouldn't come out as expected. The end result was way more than what I had envisioned! Will definitely come back. read more

I went in on a Friday morning with an appt after booking through instagram messaging (10/10 for ease). I saw their instagram and wanted to try out a new nail salon. I was greeted with a smile and the facility is clean as they're fairly new. I originally set my appt for a regular manicure, but was convinced to do gel. I normally do gel but haven't done my nails in a while and just wanted to be gentle but went with gel anyway because of the longevity of it. The reason for 2 stars: When my cuticles were getting cleaned up, I felt my skin being tugged a little too hard and it didn't feel very gentle. within 2 days, I had 2 nails already chopping and the gel was lifting. In less than a week, I have 5 nails chipping which shouldn't be happening with good quality gel. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately will not be back because I don't think it's quite quality polish. read more

This was my first visit to the salon, and I came in for a fill and to repair two broken nails. I was assisted by Tammy, who used acrylic to extend the broken nails rather than replacing them with new tips. Unfortunately, the repaired nails began chipping within a week, and the fill was not filed smoothly on the sides to blend with the natural nail. Given the quality of the service and how quickly the repairs failed, I was disappointed--especially considering the $65 charge. I had hoped for longer-lasting and more professional results at this price point. read more

Love my new nails! Got gel extensions. It was fast. They're very nice and the price was very reasonable.

I went back for a second time for my nail. The tech that did my nails that time was horrible. My builder gel nails were all uneven and she didn't paint it all the way. I was super unhappy with my nails. Not only that, it only lasted TWO WEEKS! cut to today, I scheduled an appt with Natalie. I didn't with her the second time cause I was in a rush and couldn't do it on a Sunday. I had my Nails done by Natalie today. Oh my gosh! She is AMAZING! She made sure that she did my nails perfectly and helped me find the perfect color. It was night and day from the other tech I used. I also made sure I looked at the reviews before I chose the other lady. But this just goes to show to stick with the tech that works best for you. Natalie is amazing and super kind. I hope more people book with her as well as she is amazing. Can't wait for my next set with her! read more

I recently visited RYU Nails for a gel manicure in a natural color, and I couldn't be happier with the results! The nails turned out exactly how I wanted them. The salon is under new management, and I have to say, the changes they've made to the interior are sooo cute. The space feels fresh, modern, and inviting, making it a relaxing place to relax while getting pampered. The service was also good too. Tammy and Minh Minh were friendly, attentive, and made sure I was comfortable throughout my appointment. Tammy does great pedicure and my gel manicure. I think Minh Minh is more for designing nails, I haven't got done, but she did color my hair and color turns out just how I wanted. I've gotten Gel-X nails done at Ryu Nail Bar twice now, and both experiences have been absolutely amazing. I always go to Minh Minh because she's so detailed, gentle, and truly cares about her work. The first time she did my nails was for my wedding, and they were perfect. Elegant, clean, and exactly what I envisioned. The second time was more recent, and once again, she nailed it (no pun intended!). Each set has lasted incredibly long! My first one stayed on for over two months without lifting or breaking, which is unheard of for me (regular gel nails just peel off my fingers in the shower). I also love that Gel-X has helped keep my natural nails healthy and strong underneath. I'll update this review with photos after my next visit (I know I took some before but can't seem to find them on my phone!). If you're considering Gel-X, do yourself a favor and book with Minh Minh, she's charismatic and kind and you definitely won't regret it! read more

I was excited to see a new nail shop open up next to my favorite boba shop in town so I decided to treat myself and get a mani pedi. I scheduled an appointment via Instagram which was super convenient and quick! There's also an online booking option which is great. The interior of the shop is clean and airy and the owner Minh greeted me warmly as soon as I entered. The salon had no typical nail polish fumes which was nice as I'm 7 months pregnant and was unsure about that prior to booking. I chose to get builder gel with a flower design on my nails and a classic gel pedicure. Pari did my nails and Jan did my pedicure. There were a lot of colors to choose from and Pari and Jan were both super nice and good at their job. They were efficient yet paid attention to detail which I appreciated. I'm super happy with my nails and looking forward to coming back! Definitely recommend Ryu nail bar :) read more
