Michelle was very rough, when she is filing my toes, she was like filing my skin. I asked for square shape on my toes but she cut them too short and made them round. I told her it's round not square. She tried to file again which hurt my skin because she was filing away my skin too and I asked her to stop. she then charged me $15 for removing polish on my hands, removing only when the other gals said it's normally $10 when combined with a pedicure which I did. Also, underneath my gel pedicure polish, I can see blood on the sides under my nail. I am guessing the blood came out from her cutting too aggressively on the side of my toes. I also told her to stop that too. Sadly, I do not recommend Michelle. She needs more training.

I loved to let Ann pick my colors and what she wanted to do for an accent for me. I was never disappointed.

I really appreciated that level of accountability, so I decided to come back and give this place another try and I'm so glad I did. This time, I specifically asked for a different tech, and the experience was completely different. Holly was the main person who worked with me, and she was absolutely amazing. She was incredibly meticulous, patient, and really paid attention to every little detail. She spent almost 2 hours on my nails and made sure everything was done properly without rushing. Gil (I believe that's her name as I didn't catch it at the beginning) also helped during the process, which honestly made the whole experience feel even more attentive and pampering. Between the two of them, I felt really well taken care of. Holly even apologized at the beginning for my prior experience, even though it wasn't her fault at all, which I really appreciated. She constantly checked in to make sure I liked how my nails were turning out and was more than willing to fix even the smallest detail before I left. Overall, I really appreciated the care, professionalism, and effort this time around. Huge thank you to Holly and Gil. I'll definitely be coming back!

While I am extremely sympathetic to her struggles and loss of her grandparent, she came back at my review very intensely and said "shame on you" multiple times to me. As I had stated in my initial review, if I heard an update that the business was open, I would have changed my review. However as a client, I cannot know what is happening in this business owners life, and it seems like the professional and respectful choice is to re-record your business voicemail telling people you are taking a break, so your clients don't continually waste their time. Now because of this intense and rude response years later, I stand by my one star review instead of changing it, because I do not believe the client is responsible for knowing what losses are going on in the owners life, nor do they deserve a mean retort years later for information they have no way to know. Her response was very unprofessional and as I had said before, I would've changed my review to a positive one and been a client again, but not after this exchange. My father passed away during this time period too, right before my wedding actually, and we're also currently in the middle of COVID where she has no idea who is currently sick or who I've lost in my life, so while it's true you don't know what's going on in someone's life, that doesn't give a business owner reason to shame a client for the owner not updating their business information and the client responding based on their current experience. This is not a personal relationship and it's unprofessional and unkind to shame a client when you also have no idea the circumstances in the other persons life. Very hypocritical. I hope she can proceed more professionally again in the future. She was very talented, but having drama with someone who is offering a service is not worth it to me as a client, just to have nice nails. There's plenty of people to go to that do a great job where that's not a factor in the client/owner relationship. I do sincerely feel for her experience and hope she is healing from her losses.

From start to finish, the entire appointment took only 35 minutes, and it felt extremely rushed. The Gel-X removal was done so quickly and roughly that I actually had to pull my hand away because it was painful. After that, the filing and shaping lacked attention to detail, and my nails were left uneven with different shapes. I asked for a pale pink polish, but the application was sloppy. Polish was left on my cuticles and skin, parts of several nails were missed entirely, and there was no cleanup with acetone afterward. Once the polish was applied, the nail technician placed a fan in front of me and spent the rest of the appointment cleaning nail art brushes while my nails dried. No one checked on how they were drying or whether I needed anything, and I eventually just got up to pay. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've been to Avatar Nails before for pedicures and my previous Gel-X set, and those experiences were excellent. I would have happily given them 5 stars. Unfortunately, this visit felt like quality and attention to detail were sacrificed, even though the salon wasn't busy. I hope this was just an off day, but based on this experience, I left feeling disappointed.

Yesterday was my 1st visit with her. Previously I had 2 powder dips 3 weeks a part. My 1st dip was at Elegant Nails who did a great job. The 2nd was a bad experience at the Blackhawk Nail Salon. Helen convinced me to go back to acrylic. I'm so glad she did. It's a lot less work & it's less expensive than a power dip The reason I started dips was because I was told it will last longer & a powder dip is the strongest manicure you can get. I posted some pixs of my right nail ring finger. It was extremely painful. My skin grows underneath my nails. I called Helen to schedule an appointment when my nail completely healed. I worried of an infection from chemicals going into any type of wound. Especially a powder dip. She works by herself. If you get a pedicure & manicure it'll take a little longer but it's worth the wait. Her work is meticulous. I posted before & after pixs.
