Overall, a quaint and romantic restaurant with good value for the quality of food served. We attended as a larger group (6), and they were able to accommodate us within the back private dining area (lovely design and private). For food, we had the following: Hamachi (all loved; fresh and balanced), Snap Peas (salad format; creative and light), Brussels Sprouts (not recommended; basic), Shelling Beans (ok), Burrata (delicious), Garganelli (beautiful smoked pork), Pure Cod (very well done; fresh; light), Spaghetti (great). For drinks we limited our cocktails as we found variety limited. The negroni was nothing special and not worth the price. There was a great table red for $9, with heavy pours. read more

Visiting Vendemmia at Restaurant Week was really great. The most stressful part about ordering was that everything on the first course looked so good, I didn't know what to choose... But then I was told that we would try a taste of everything for our first course.. And that made me so happy. Awesome. The Hamachi crudo, salad, beef tartare and mushroom risotto were all delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the dressing on the salad but the crunchy lettuce balanced out everything really well and I appreciated it! The second course, I opted for the black cod which was a little small, super flaky and not too rich. Perfect char on the crispy skin which was so good and the puree beneath with Brussels sprouts was so good. Could have taken or left the grapefruit, tho it provided that citrus contrast but was a little too tart for me. Still a great dish tho. My friend opted for the spaghetti because it was a signature dish -portion size was generous, and noodles were cooked in the sauce so everything was melded thru very well but could have used some meat IMO. Noodles were slightly overlooked and just felt a little too basic but we were glad we tried it. I was super curious about the porchetta, so maybe I will try that next time. For dessert I went for the chocolate terrine, which was great. Very smooth, light, and not as heavy as I had feared. And Carmel ice cream was an awesome compliment. My friend got the almond panna cotta which was light and creamy. He also got the wine pairings which were on the sweeter side, so if you like dry wines it may not be the best for you but three glasses for $20 seems is definitely a fair deal. and the neighborhood!! Before this, I honestly didn't even know this cute little neighborhood existed, but I liked it. It is quite quaint and has a good character and vibe to it. Will definitely revisit here again! read more

We were excited to try this new restaurant in our neighborhood and were happy to be able to do so during Seattle Restaurant Week. We came in on a Monday night to a pretty busy restaurant but were seated right away. I didn't mind the minimalist decor but it is that, minimal. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't too loud to have a conversation and you could still hear some music playing too. Our server was very friendly and helpful. He kept our waters filled throughout the night and even let us sample one of the wines to aide our selection, which was good because the first one we were going to get tasted off. We made our three course selections and told them that we would be sharing everything. Everything we had was good just not mindblowing! I don't know if it was an off night or a different chef. We started with the albacore and the flavors in that were light, balanced and well done. The butternut squash soup though was pure butter, and that is really the only thing either of us could taste, no sweetness in the soup, no savory fall flavors, just butter. It's rare that we don't finish a dish but this we did not. The short ribs were good but I've had many better and the black cod was cooked nicely but again very rich in flavors and not that much complexity of flavors. Dessert was good; we tried the espresso with housemade vanilla gelato and the chocolate terrine with a salted caramel gelato. I'm glad we got to try this restaurant at Restaurant Week prices and we had a good meal but the question is out on whether or not we will be back! read more

Here's the short version of this. Food: fantastic. Cannot be beat. Service: poor. Beyond poor. We are visiting from California and decided we wanted good food. We have a two year old that typically does well when we take him to eat. Yesterday was not the case. The restaurant staff made it very clear this place is not child friendly. However, I will not write a whole review just on this. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: -Hanger steak. Delicious. Tastes like it was sous vide then finished on the grill. Perfectly done. -Black cod was slightly fishy. Other food it was paired with was spot on and cut through the fish taste. Incredible. - The beef tartare appetizer was savory. Meaty and beautiful. - Hamachi appetizer in at a loss for words. Fresh. Savory. Cons: - Servers. Big party came in before us. I asked if they were making all their food first and if ours would be coming up. Their response "everything is made to order and takes time to come to you." Being from the food industry, this is an idiotic response. For one, it's an open kitchen and I can clearly see everything is being made. - Warm/cold food. Steak was amazing, but when it arrived to us, it was warm at best. - Inconsistent seasoning. Some dishes were almost too heavy on the salt. Some had none. Overall, I rate the food at a 4.5 or even a five. The service a 1. Thus the 3 star rating. read more

Server was fantastic. Jonathan I believe? We tried the chef's choice for $75...four course. Every plate was amazing. It's really loud in the space so I can't begin to tell you everything we ate. Every bite was phenomenal, though. Go. read more

We went to Vendemmia tonight and really enjoyed their current setup. They have three tables outside with heat lamps next to each table. We were very warm - I didn't even wear a coat (although I did have a warm sweater on). The food and service were amazing. There were only two chefs and a waitress, who was also doubling as the bartender and to go server, and they worked so hard to make it a great experience for everyone. We had the burrata, beets, rigatoni, and bucatini. All of them were a new, delicious takes on approachable food. For example, I never would've thought to put apple with burrata (and I've had plenty of burrata from other restaurants) but it was a great combination! read more

This place was recommended to me and I will definitely be recommending it to others. I do not often come to Madrona, but this is definitely worth a trip. As you enter, it is kind of sparce and has an exposed ceiling, but do not let that sway you. As a start, it has a really excellent wine list. The servers are excellent and friendly. The plates are meant to be shared--so we kept the menu and ordered until we were full. We started with oysters-- there was just one choice but it was excellent--small and kind of sweet. After that we had some green beans. These were crazy good. It seemed like just olive oil, salt, and pepper--but was really tasty. Next was the tagliatelle which is a thick noodle pasta with clams. It had a slightly spicy olive oil sauce and was just heavenly. They disappeared instantly. Next we had the ravioli. I never could imagine it would surpass the other dishes, but this was incredible. I understand they keep changing the menu, but this needs to be a staple. You can tell that the pasta is fresh and it is perfection. The cheese is great, then the caramelized onion and chicken are ideal complements. Really an ideal pasta dish. We finished with some chocolate terrine with gelato. No surprise, this was the perfect finish to a meal. I will definitely be back! read more

Food was good! We tried fish and pasta. Very fresh. However, portions were really small.

Came here for a friends birthday and I was intrigued to try out this highly reviewed spot. At first glance, its a classier, nice looking spot, and the menu prices confirm this first impression. Overall, it looks like a higher class tapas joint. We ordered a few things for the table and I can attest that the food is of higher quality with its ingredients and flavor combinations refreshing & done well. My favorites were the lamb sirloin & burrata. Even though the bread was toasted a tad too long, it was hard to bite into, but simply bend the bread a bit and the crust will yield when biting into it. The cheese mixed with the hearty eggplant was a light creamy combination that was surprising. The lamb was beyond amazing with the herbs, mustard seed, and especially the mint. The rest of the dishes were pretty average. I would recommend ordering at least 1 pasta as its somewhat filling for the price compared to the other dishes. Even though I've had better pasta, I can say that its above average. If you're looking for a nice date spot, or just some higher quality, lower quantity food, I'd recommend checking out this spot! Some items are hit or miss, but I was overall satisfied. Since the menu rotates I wouldn't mind coming back here and there, but its a bit expensive for a commonly visited spot. read more

Best Restaurant Week restaurant!!! I'm so glad my friend brought me here (shoutout to Mona - sup girlfriend). They give the table all 4 appetizers options on the prix fixe, and you pick 1 entree and 1 dessert. Mizuna Salad (4/5): Great start to the meal, loved the crushed almonds/cheese on this salad Calamari (4/5): Super refreshing! Not what you expect - the calamari is not deep fried and there's no breading (which makes it look naked) but it went great with celery and cauliflower. Healthy calamari option :) Asparagus on savory panna cotta (5/5): I had never heard of a savory panna cotta before but that stuff comes from the Italian heavens. It's this amazing garlicky sauce that would make any vegetable your favorite. Tagliatelle with ricotta and peas (5/5): Perfect pasta texture! The ricotta made the pasta interestingly sour but it really balanced out the cheesiness of this dish. Loved this creative pasta! Risotto, mascarpone, mint (4/5): Would have preferred it if it weren't made with mixed grains (brown rice), but this felt like a healthy option! Duck confit (5/5): ......THIS DUCK is why I will be returning to Vendemmia. Perfectly crisp skin on a melt-in-your-mouth duck leg, the best finely-mashed potatoes on the side, and the green / orange drizzle sauces made this dish top notch. I'd be hard pressed to find a more delicious duck. Halibut (4/5): Nice crispy skin on this halibut too, but does not compare to the duck :) Rhubarb panna cotta (5/5): If you like panna cotta, you will LOVE this jiggly wiggly panna cotta topped with oats. Ricotta cake (5/5): My favorite dessert of the night - it looks like a cheese cake but it's not nearly as creamy/fatty/sweet. The cake itself is not sweet, but the raisins and almonds on the side made this dish so surprisingly great! Tiramisu (5/5): It comes to your table as a deconstructed tiramisu cake, with pieces all over the place, which is pretty cool. Definitely one of the healthier tiramisu's I've had (seems to be a common thread among all their dishes) and I love that! I'll be back, Vendemmia! And please have the duck confit on your rotating menu when I'm there!! read more

If you like Staple and Fancy, you will like Vendemmia. The owner used to be a chef at Staple and Fancy so you'll find a familiar taste is all the dishes. Beef tartare is a favorite here along with most of their locally sourced appetizers. The menu rotates so I try to come here if there is a good steak, pork chop or black cod, especially during Restaurant Week. The black cod here is amazing and so yummy...Overall, the restaurant reminds me of restaurants in Europe. Come on a warm night and they will open all the sliding windows in the front. It's a nice ambiance combined with great food. read more

I've been here a few times and have developed my favorites. The staff is always friendly to me, the food is more on the simple side, but executed really well and I think its a place that I will keep coming to. I really like the snap peas and crab. It has a hint of citrus and its awesome in the summer. The spaghetti is very simple and I love it, except when I get sauce on my shirt from doing too much slurping. This last time, I tried the braised neck, which was wrapped in Asian cabbage. Sort of a spin on cabbage rolls and I thought it was tasty. read more

Very excited to give this place a try. Started off very promising. The crab and snap pea starter was delicious. The focaccia never showed. When we asked, our waitress said oh we ran out and I forgot who ordered it. The fusilli showed up next. This was a surprise because we had ordered the hamachi as an appetizer. So we asked where that dish was. Apparently the kitchen (and waitress) forgot. Fine we move on. The fusilli was quite good. Our mains arrive next. The steaks were very low quality and a bit over cooked. The smoked potato purée would have been delicious if they hadn't put so much smoke in it. The pork chop was so over cooked it was not edible. You could barely cut into it. Nobody checked until they came to clear the plates and asked if we wanted a box. We let them know we did not want it because it was not edible. The response was oh sorry. They removed the pork chop from the bill which is the least they could do. Our waitress informed us they took care of the hamachi (that never came) and the pork chop. So disappointed by the execution and that was only compounded by the lack of attention from the wait staff. read more

Vendemmia exceeded my expectations, mostly because I never heard of this place before. The food was delicious. We ordered the green beans and snap peas with crab as starters. They were both tasty, so it was hard to choose which one we liked more. For the main dish, I ordered the pork sausage cavatelli. Great dish, with many unique flavors. The portion size was respectable for medium sized eaters. If you wanted more food, it probably would have been good to have your own starter, versus sharing with 2 others (as we did). Our group of 3 ordered 2 starters, 3 main plates, 4 glasses of wine, and 3 cocktails for a total of $180 after tax + tip. So, $60 per person is not bad at all for such great food in Seattle (especially since I ordered $36 worth of drinks with my meal ;). The restaurant itself has pretty normal decor, maybe leaning on the side of stark. We were the lucky recipients of table right next to the front door, so got a chill each time it was opened. I think a nice add-on would be some sort of velvet curtain around the entry, floor-to-ceiling, like they do at Quinn's. It would also create a subtle sense of romance and drama to the restaurant. The other table that is no-bueno is the one next to the registers near the back. - Service was very pleasant and attentive. - The Madrona neighborhood is cute, albeit it a little relatively sleepy in the evenings. If you can't find parking on the main street, there are is parking in the back streets. - Went here on a Tuesday night at 7pm and restaurant was full. Glad we made a reservation. read more

Easily one of the best restaurants I have tried in Seattle. It's a relatively small, cozy spot with an open kitchen in the corner. The service was attentive but not overbearing and the food was very well thought out and delicious. The small kitchen definitely translates into the quality of food -- well cooked and thoughtfully balanced flavors that are rare to find at any larger scale restaurant. We got the beef tartare, focaccia, gnocetti, and steak with bone marrow bread pudding. The gnocetti and steak were some of the best dishes I had all year. Will definitely be coming back often. read more

Came here with my cousin for SRW and realized i've been here before but its been a while. We made a reservation but was told our table wasn't ready yet but we were hungry and opted to sit at the bar which is fine for us (there was only 2 of us). We each got a glass of wine to start off with and ordered our food. It took a bit of time to get our food and we were so hungry that we asked our server for the bread. All the appetizers were good and we both got the black cod. Dessert was good but nothing too unique. It was a good meal and i guess for the price its not bad. read more

I took my husband here for his birthday. We tried the tasting menu which is $75 per person. They were very accommodating because I cannot have gluten nor nuts. Since the tasting menu comes with 4 starters, 1 pasta, 1 meat entree and 1 dessert- they made us a special potato dish instead of a pasta! It was so thoughtful and the dish was wonderful. Maybe went on an off night but not super impressed. Food: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 2 Came here for a date night and was excited to try this spot for quite some time. Charm is cute and has patio seating which gives an Italian type charm. You can see the kitchen and the chefs at work which is nice touch. Started strong but ended a bit lackluster. Starters came out with oysters, bread, and a prosciutto salad and all was good. This is where things started to go downhill as we waited for 2 pastas and our halibut entrée to split. We were sat at 5:30pm and were one of the first ones there and we didn't get our pasta until after 6:30. The people sat after us were getting the same dishes we ordered before us. No communication from the waitress until 30 min gone by that the kitchen is running a "tad behind". We saw someone deliver more pasta to the restaurant so maybe they didn't have enough to fulfill the orders or something but the waitress was avoiding contact the whole 45+ min we waited. Finally a pasta was delivered to the table and it was the wrong one meant for the next table. Eventually we got the crab corn pasta and beef bucatini. The actual pasta was delicious but the sauce left something to be desired. That said beef was cooked well and crab corn pancotti was overall good. The halibut came out and was super dry and was a pretty small portion with a scant amount of sauce, it was so dry we didn't finish the dish. We were then offered dessert and expresso which I thought would be on the house as we were already 2 hrs into a small meal but was an extra $25 dollar for ice cream and "brownie" dessert that was more like a snickers bar and $6 each for bitter expressos. The waitress could clearly see we were not happy and never made any attempt to apologize for the wait times until the very end to drop off the $300 price tag for a mediocre meal. I understand things happen in the kitchen outside of the servers control bit felt like they could have done more to check on us and make things right. read more

Great neighborhood spot in madrona . Always attentive. Interesting and well priced wines. Like the seasonal changes in the menu.

We came in for Seattle restaurant week, which is a great way to try out some new restaurants that you may not have been to before. This year it's 32 for $32, meaning there are 32 participating restaurants serving 3 course meals for $32. Good deal. Irony: My wife had us start a low carb diet the day before Vendemmia, but bread, pasta, risotto are kind of hard to skip here. My favorite diet is the one I start TOMORROW. Our menu choices were these. Since we were a party of 5, they served us a smaller portion of each of the appetizers, which was a really nice selection and good way for everyone to get a little taste of everything. Appetizers BEEF TARTARE, shallot, grilled bread HAMACHI CRUDO, Apple, Celery, Olive Oil GEM LETTUCE, avocado, radish, chervil RISOTTO, wild mushroom, sage Entrees BLACK COD, celeriac, Brussels Sprout, Grapefruit PORCHETTA, farro, mission fig, rosemary SPAGHETTI, tomato, basil, chili flake Desserts CHOCOLATE TERRINE, caramel gelato, sea salt BUTTERMILK PANNA COTTA, hazelnut, vanilla BLUE CHEESE, honey comb, crackers Beef tartare was a standout, served on crusty country bread. Gem lettuce salad was excellent, very fresh, lightly dressed. Risotto: creamy, but al dente, good texture, not too soupy. Nice mushroom flavor Porchetta was excellent, slow cooked until meltingly tender and unctuous, then crisped up a little on the outside just before service for a nice textural contrast. The flavor of herbs, garlic and fennel were present but not overpowering. Served with fresh figs, farro and frisee you find your plate filled with flavors, and alliteration. Buttermilk panna cotta was creamy and smooth, with crushed hazelnuts on top, and not too sweet. The blue cheese plate got raves for the tasty little house made crackers, excellent cheese, and just a little sweet notes from the honeycomb. Service was attentive, and pleasant if a bit slow at times. Several of our party selected the optional wine pairing with their meal for $20, and rated it just okay. They were served Prosecco, a white from the Alto Adige, and an Amaro to finish Fine. Vendemmia means grape harvest in Italian, so we'll call it a harvest of a few new wines. Downsides for us were that it was dark where we were seated, and it was a bit loud, both from the music and the open dining room. Overall, we had a good experience, were happy to try something new and really enjoyed the food which is reason enough for a return visit. read more

I went for restaurant week and I was somewhat disappointed. I know the executive chef used to work at Staple and Fancy but I don't think his menu design is as good as Ethan Stowell. Ethan Stowell's dishes are simple but they always manages to bring out the harmony between the ingredients and then you are amazed by how good the dishes tasted. This particular chef seems to stick with standard combinations that don't particularly aim to impress. I had the tuna for appetizer. The olives were too potent so I didn't think it was particularly balanced. The salad that came with the ahi tuna seemed refrigerated . I also ordered the beef short ribs which was tender and I liked the glazed. But the root vegetable and the grits combination made the dish a bit one dimensional. My friend who had the black cod found the skin overly salty. For dessert, I had the chocolate terrain. It just tasted a block of dense chocolate mousses. It was somewhat unimpressive. My friend who had the sorbet of the day didn't even want to finish her second scoop. Anyhow, I don't know why Seattle Times listed this as a Top Ten value during restaurant week. I have definitely been to better. The service was decent nevertheless. Either way, I doubt I would come again given that I could just go to an Ethan Stowell rather than this like-Ethan Stowell restaurant that doesn't really stand out. read more

I am not a huge fan of Italian food normally, but I definitely have changed my mind after my experience here. This minimalistic restaurant is located in the cute and upcoming neighborhood of Madrona. Once you walk in, you can tell it is very simple. There is nothing too special about the decorations, but it is spacious. We came in on a Thursday around 7pm. It was pretty crowded and were told wait time would be about an hour. The hostess offered to seat us at the bar and so there we went. Having look at the menu prior, we had a few ideas of what we wanted to try. We decided to order two appetizers and two entrees to share. Hamachi, cucumber, and fresno chili: so smooth and delicious! it was obvious that the fish was very fresh. Although it was slightly plain and could have used a bit more oomph. Beef tartare, shallot and grilled bread: HANDS DOWN, MY FAVORITE ENTREE. This was so full of flavor and the bread was perfectly grilled. They even offered us more bread free of charge. :) Cavatelli, pork cheek, rapini, mint: This was a delicious pasta, but also could have used some more flavoring. I had slightly higher expectations for the dish. Prime New York steak, mushrooms, bacon, fingerling potato: Definitely the star of the night. All of the ingredients worked perfectly with one another. My biggest pet peave is when steak entrees are given an excessive amount of sides because it takes away from the steak itself. But this was flawlessly executed and that cream sauce was on point. All in all, I am definitely coming back to try the other dishes. I love that this places focuses on other other things besides pasta. I have high hopes for this restaurant. Vendemmia has wonderful food. I have ordered out a number of times, directly through the restaurant, and never had an issue. This time, I ordered through Caviar. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was told someone had already picked it up on my behalf. No-one knew my order except Caviar and myself. Since they did not reach out to me, I placed the order again. The owner very kindly offered me a glass of wine while I waited. I sent a text message to Caviar/Doordash explaining the situation and asked them not to charge me twice. However, they did. When I contacted their Customer Resolution, (which took 45 minutes of being sent from one person to another), I was told they were unwilling to do anything. Not only have I been charged twice for a meal I only received once, I have wasted a ton of time, and was treated as if I was being dishonest. Really horrible experience. read more

$50 for a tasting menu?! What a steal! We were more than full after leaving Vendemmia last night. We had 12 courses. We started with, penn cove oysters, juicy heirloom tomatoes, garden cucumbers, the sweetest melons I've had in a long time and the most delicious fish crostini. We gobbled everything up! Then came the hamachi collar! OMG!! I literally sucked the bones clean I kid you not. We were given not 1 pasta dish, but 3! The server let us put in a preference of which of the 4 pastas we wanted. We opted for the agnolotti. All of the pastas were delicious! We finished with 2 different desserts, a chocolate dessert with a hint of coffee and a yummy almond cake with peach compote. If you are considering Vendemmia for Seattle restaurant week, BOOK IT. I checked nearly every SRW menu and determined that Vendemmia's looked the best, and I believe I was right. No, Vendemmia didn't make us choose which appetizer we wanted-- Vendemmia let us try them all! Steak tartar and burrata were the highlights, plus sunchokes and potatoes, hamachi crudo, and bitter greens salad-- and those were only the first course! For the mains my friends and I each tried one of the dishes-- tuna, ravioli, and the meat polenta dish. Everything was awesome; you can't choose wrong. The seared tuna was the lightest and the squid ink was not overwhelming, in a good way. Then, there was still desert! A big slice of a blonde topped with dulce de leche for me, and panna cotta for my friend. We left quite full and happy. We also got the wine pairing for a reasonable $21pp. I enjoyed first Italian white, the Sangiovese with our mains was just ok, and I didn't like the dessert wine, so perhaps try a different beverage of your choosing. The restaurant is taking covid precautions seriously-- sanitizes between every guest, was very spaced out, and requests guests wear masks when not actively eating or drinking. What a wonderful night out. My partner and I were craving pasta and ice cream when we decided to venture into Madrona for date night. We enjoyed some wonderful Italian food and cocktails that evening. Food: pasta is fresh and to die for. Incredibly rich and flavorful with generous portion sizing. We started with an appetizer of oysters which were perfectly fine, but priced a bit higher than market value. Cocktails: spirit forward and expertly made. Honestly there nothing more to say Atmosphere: The staff was delightful. There's a small indoor are and even smaller patio seating. Interestingly, they reported being booked up on the phone but the restaurant didn't fill the entire evening.
