I am a Vdara nails convert for builder gel manicures. They never shy away from my crazy Instagram inspo I bring in, and I've never paid more than $80 with tip-- it's usually even less. Not to mention, my nails have consistently come out better looking than the inspo I bring. My FAVORITE thing about them? They are SO efficient. No! Just NO! Walked in and almost immediately walked out. Sat in the chair, dipped my feet in the water, and felt ZERO peace whatsoever. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Same thing with my pregnant wife who was immediately annoyed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Let me explain ... I understand it's the World Cup right now, but the sports TV was BLARING in another language (basically some soccer announcer yelling in Chinese), and it was NOT a spa experience. PS - I'm super liberal and don't care who you are, or what language you speak, but this was completely inappropriate for a nail salon. I almost paid $90+20% tip because I felt obligated to sit in a "cafeteria-like" setting, then I remembered I have free will. Thank God. There was also a lot of dust on the shelves near the chairs where you wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offered to turn the TV down as we decided to leave, but we didn't want to affect everyone else in the salon who might have enjoyed the feeling of being in a legit soccer stadium.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Furthermore, the guy massaging the girl next to me was completely turned around 180° during her massage, glued to the TV. I don't care if it's a 20-minute or 2-minute massage, you need to be focusing on the client and doing your job. Go watch soccer at the bar when you clock out. I do not recommend this place. Seems to be run by bros who haven't the slightest idea what a spa experience should be. I think this place needs a little feminine touch. read more

So, I usually wouldn't do this but I think we should stand up for ourselves more at the nail salon! These services are expensive!! I had a bad experience last week at Vdara. I asked for short dip powder nails and she tried to give me a gel X fill instead without telling me. However, I have been getting my nails done often for years, so I noticed what she was doing and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reminded her I wanted to switch to dip powder this time. She said no, we'll do gel X fill it will be better. (She means faster and easier for her instead of doing a new set.) I said no, I want dip powder. Finally I convinced her to do what I wanted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As we proceeded to do my nails, I kept asking her to file them shorter and kept noticing that they were crooked. She would try to move onto the next step and I would ask her if she was done filing noticing that they were all crooked and uneven lengths and shapes, so I would tell her, she would try to fix them, but she just could not. They kept coming out crooked and different lengths. Meanwhile, during the whole service, the phone keeps ringing and she keeps going to the front to pick it up, her cell phone keeps ringing and she keeps picking it up, people keep leaving to check out, and she kept leaving in the middle of my service to go check them out. This happened around ten times. Made my service nearly 2 and a half hours for these nails. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I go to pay, and when it comes time to tip, she reaches her neck over-the-counter to make sure that I press something so I felt pressured to leave her a tip that I did not want to give because it did not seem like she cared about my service at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (I'm a server. I ALWAYS TIP. And this time I did not want to. That says a lot). I get in the car to take a final look at my nails and see that they're all crooked and choppy/flaky and that there's a black mark on my WHITE nail on my pinky. I honestly just started tearing up, I know it seems silly but $80 for these simple little nails and a terrible experience right after work, almost taking three hours? I wish I never came here and just waited a day to go to my usual salon! Nevertheless, I went home and filed them all myself, which removes the sealing of topcoat, so now I will have to go spend more money on new nails sooner than usual because these will not last long. VDARA NAIL LOUNGE @ OCEANSIDE My parents were in town visiting me so had to take my mom out to get her nails done! We were close around the oceanside and found this spot. Parking was available right out front and walks in were available, luckily not too busy on a weekday but there were customers inside. We got a seat at the massage, and we did both a pedicure and manicure, $25 for our manicure, and $35 for pedicure. It was really relaxing, they did a great job cleaning out the dirt and even washed my foot! I decided to get white for both and it turned out great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really enjoyed how the service was very polite and kind, despite my dad not getting any of their services, they allowed him to sit on the massage chair with us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offered free drinks as well, and were very polite![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend stopping by here! read more

I made an appointment, and did wait a bit to be served (about 15 minutes) but honestly I've rarely been to a salon that actually honored appointment times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the sea spa pedicure, which included a massage and a few masks. The pedicure was thorough and I appreciated how sanitary everything was, alcohol spritzed after every step and sealed tools. Been going to this location for a while and although I liked the work (my nails were lasting longer) I just could not handle the long waiting any more. They generally take longer than most techs so I plan for longer visits. Unfortunately my last visit, 2 weeks ago, I was told they needed 10 min and to wait in the chair. I waited for 40 min before he started my nails. Current visit- he told me to come back in 40 min. No problem... left and came back. At least I was not waiting in the chair. In the mean time he got more clients so I got stuck waiting another 20 min in the chair before I walked out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I left cause I saw how much work all 3 guests still needed and I was fed up. Awful!!!! 15 dollar up charge for gel polish?!!! SUPER rough and HARSH. They cut me twice. She struggled to size my nails for Gel-X. Which was also super painful, she held my fingers DIRECTLY under the UV lamp for 45seconds and when I said it hurt she held me tighter. I always come here to get my toes done because no matter who I get it's always very clean work (you'd be surprised how hard that is to find) !! I got my nails done gel x for the first time a few weeks ago by Robert and he did an amazingggg job. I wanted a funky 90s french tip and he delivereddd! [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was so quick and really friendly and easy to talk to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He kept showing me the design to make sure it was perfect and I can't believe how long the nails have lasted I'm going on three weeks with not one loose nail and I work with my hands a lot!! Moving back to California; I decided to come to Vdara since they took over the old salon I used to attend years ago. Upon walking in, the updates are beautiful, simple and clean. I called ahead of time, but ultimately was a walk-in. I was seated right away, for two services. I did a single color, pedicure #4, which was about $40 (no gel) and French tip acrylic's (new set) which was $65. The two gentlemen that did my services were sweet, detailed and made my time there so relaxing. I will be returning for future appointments. read more

KEVIN took his time and was very meticulous with making sure my nails were spot on clean and cut. He took extra time too carving out my french tip and asking me if I liked it. I'm not usually one for nail salons, but being new to the area I needed a quick alternative while I looked for an independent nail technician. This salon is exemplary! Vdara is So so clean, the results are always great, extremely relaxing, and they offer free beverages. My husband and I've only been three times but every-time they leave me wanting to come back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My husband gets a standard mani pedi and loves it, there's all male technicians which I've never seen before, but it made my husband comfortable for his first time in a salon![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I prefer Dennis as my nail tech, you can choose when you book an appointment online. He's very careful, patient, and ensures no matter the design my nails have come out perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of the other nail technicians did my 3d nails shown below and while they were beautiful they were falling apart. Dennis fixed them up for free and not one of my charms had fallen off for almost two weeks. Love this place. omg where do I start? The nail tech that did my manicure had zero experience and I don't believe had a license. He continuously filed my nails until they bled and even after they started bleeding he continued. He even had some of my blood on his finger. I told him he was hurting me and I was bleeding but he continued. I'm worried about an infection since I know they use that filer on other customers. Also, he filed them so bad on one side they are all crooked and leaning to one side. He also had zero experience with the cat eye. He ruined them. And when I brought it to his attention, he offered a $5 discount. I'm not a confrontational person so I paid the $115 for my manicure and pedicure and just decided not to ever come back.
