I wanted a basic manicure before vacation so stopped here because it was convenient. The technician tried to convince me to get a gel manicure because otherwise "they'll chip" and seemed annoyed when I declined because I wanted to be able to remove the polish easily. I came in to get a gel x set removed and to get a gel manicure. I asked the man how much the service would be, he responded $55 but if I wanted a cateye color it would be $10 extra. I said okay, I would stick with a regular color. When it was time to pay, the total came out to around $69. I asked why the price was so high. He responded that the removal of my previous set was $10. I politely let him know that when I asked about the price for today, he did not mention the removal cost. He immediately got defensive and said I was calling him a liar, that he would ask the owner to pull up the video tape to prove he was right and I was wrong. I let him know that was not necessary and I didn't say I was not going to pay but that he definitely did not give me the correct amount at the beginning of the appointment. He was extremely rude, raised his voice at me, and was not willing to hear me out. I cannot recall his name but he is at table #2. Although the nails came out decent, I will never return to this salon due to the horrible customer service and cleanliness of the place. read more

I've tried this place on and off for 5 years and today I noticed the fees were taken down off the wall. I was overcharged today when I should up with a $5 birthday coupon. Acrylic nails are $45 & confirmed by manager. I'm a bit disheartened. So $39 pedicure plus $45 = $79 -- I was charged $96!!! They tacked on the $5 to remove my nails- that is not on their list of services AND I should've been made aware . Misleading - DISHONEST and sneaky - I'm NEVER going back :( read more

I've been coming to this salon for a few years now before and after the change in management and got the best gel manicures (see previous photos). Lately, I haven't gotten any manicures just pedicures. This week I walked in to get a previous gel x removed and then a gel manicure. I asked for simple red/black color (as shown) and was told they could not do it. Disappointed, I decided to get just a regular manicure instead. I felt like the quality in service changed when I changed my mind and went with a regular manicure instead. My manicure was OKAY, but as an experienced nail shop, I was disappointed that they could not execute anything more than a one color gel manicure. What I asked for did not seem that difficult, and flat out "no we can't do that" just seemed weird. No explanation, no alternative. Just no. My manicure chipped the next day. I want to update my previous review. My daughter and I went to Royal nails and had the special mani/pedis. I chose the gel nail polishes. My toes are great. However, several of my finger nails became chipped and gel polish even peeled off on 1 nail. This happened 2 days after the manicure. We had already come back home. I contacted the salon and explained what happened. I appreciated that the manager or maybe she was the owner, believed me. She instantly offered to have my nails redone. I told her I live 2-1/2 hours away. Because the nails look so bad I'm going to go somewhere local to get them fixed. Because I chose an expensive service, I requested my money back just on the fingernails. My toes are great. The manager asked me if I had the same color and I told her no. She wondered if the polish was bad. She told me she couldn't give me a refund. They will do a refund only on same day as service. I thanked her, she extended a new manicure anytime I was back in the area. We hung up and in minutes, she called me back and asked me to send her pics of my nails, and she would refund the money. She did not want me to be out anymore money on my next appt to fix them. I sent her the pictures and by end of day I was sent a refund. It was very nice of the manager to refund my money. She was professional and friendly. There was no ill will from me if I couldn't get a refund, but I thought I'd just ask. When I do go back to Oceanside, I will return to Royal Nails. It's a very nice salon. Something must have been off with the polish. My toenails are beautiful, Hannah the manicurist was wonderful. read more

I had a last minuet cancellation and based on the overall rating, I decided to try this place. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. I booked an appointment online and I received a phone call telling me to come at a later time, which I agreed to. Upon arriving, I was told to sit in a pedicure chair and wait a few minutes as they were wrapping up with another client. I don't have very much complaints about my pedicure, although it could've been better, it was okay. The tech who did do my pedicure was nice and she continuously asked me if everything was okay. Granted, looking now, there is a little bit of unevenness and lumps of paint in some areas of my toes but they aren't immediately noticeable. My nails, on the other hand are a DISASTER. I asked the tech how long it would take to do my nails (Acrylic Fill) and she said 30 - 45 minuets. I now see why. Everything was extremely rushed. All she did was drill off the previous acrylic gel, add a different layer of gel, file and add color. There was no care that was given to my cuticles or hand AT ALL. I have clumps of nail polish on my fingers and some left over that spilled on my hands, which she did not clean off. The drill must have been on the highest level and her filing was so harsh to the point that my hand was shaking when I walked out of the shop. I am not satisfied with this service whatsoever and being charged $122 makes it even worse. During this time, several walk-ins came in and they were told to come at a later time, typically 30 mins to an hour. Before I was even done, the tech started working on a walk-in who came in earlier. It just feels like this is a money grab. The service is rushed for those who schedule appointments just to squeeze everyone else in especially walk-ins. read more

I've been going to royal nails for at least a few years now, but recently had a baby so haven't gotten my nails done a whole lot within the past year. The past few times that I went I wasn't the happiest with my service, but figured it's been about a year or so since I went to them so thought I would give it another shot and got a pedicure. I decided to go with a gel pediatric for the first time, which I do think they look fine. I did just get them done, so really want to see how long they'll last. I scheduled an appointment for 9:30am on the website and they were running a few minutes late to open, totally get it. It happens to us all. I barely received a welcome from the first person, not sure if she is the owner. They started the water for me, I had to ask for the colors and the lady that did my nails finally got to me around 9:45am. As soon as she started, I felt that she was super rushed. My appointment took about 30-35 minutes total from her sitting down to me paying and leaving out the door. It seems like the change in ownership has not been a change for the better. I really enjoyed the previous owners who were always so welcoming and helpful. I think I've officially decided that I will not be coming back to Royal nails for any future services. read more

I came here in search of a new nail salon and I think I've found it! I called for a same day appointment in two hours and they were able to accommodate me. The man sat me down and took my old nails off while explaining the difference between acrylic and GELX. (One of my nails that he was removing had previously broken in half. So he was recommending trying out the GELX). I went for it and absolutely love them. He also explained the shape I like is coffin! I am not much of a girly girl so I am really uneducated around nails and terminology. I did not catch the nail artists name but she did a wonderful job! I've been obsessed with cute/simple brown designs lately and wanted to be a little more adventurous with it. I am absolutely obsessed, and I haven't found any irregularities or issues after further inspection like I used to with my previous salon. Just left this salon for the last time and I genuinely don't even know why I paid. After getting an eye roll when I asked for a mani/pedi, I say down for my services. While the pedicure service was nice enough, the way my nails look is atrocious. I could have done a better job at home and will have to fix it. My cuticles are still a mess, and the technician filed one of my toenails several millimeters shorter than the other. The tools were clearly not cleaned in an autoclave. The technician also did not change her tools when she switched to my manicure, and kept hurting my fingers by digging under the nail, and laughing while asking if it hurt. I have given this salon several chances over the last two years and the quality of services seems to only get worse. read more

The manager was so rude, was arguing with the lady doing my nails because she wasn't going fast enough and there were two people that needed services following mine but she wasn't the only other person working. Manager was just monitoring everyone; it was extremely unprofessional. But the lady that did my nails was very kind and apologetic but there was nothing she needed to apologize for. The salon was very clean but due to it being closer to their closing time the manager propped the door open while I was letting my nails dry and it got much colder inside. I took my daughter and myself there last week on Wednesday November 22nd 2023 . My nail lady did not do a good job some where crooked and I wanted them Square, she didn't do a good job at all. MY daughter mail lady sue was wonderful but u can tell the nails very very thin. Well fast forwards today my thumb nail cracked and also my daughters nails. She has two nails broken already. it hasn't even been 1 week and both our nails are cracked... I do not recommend this place.
