I've gone here approximately six times because it is convenient. I have gotten both manicures and pedicures by several different employees. It is close to my house and they accept walk in's. I will not be returning. The service is always abysmal. They charge high prices (plus an additional fee if you use a card to pay) and rush you out of the door just to get your money and get on to the next customer. My nails always chip shortly after the service because they do not take their time. I have never walked out of this place not feeling disappointed. read more

I made an appointment for 4 pedicures and 2 manicures for 6 people. They only did 2 pedicures at a time, and the other people in my party waited for an hour for their service to start. The 6th person never even got their manicure done and ended up leaving after waiting for an hour and a half. I'm not sure why they allowed us to make an appointment if they didn't have the staffing to support. We asked repeatedly about the final manicure and the staff just kept saying ok but never actually helped them. The quality for the people that actually got service was very mid tier as well. She asked which pedicure I wanted and that's where everything went south, STRIKE 2. I WANTED a pedicure, Gel polish with French tip....Pedicure $38....Gel +20, French +$5, OH an a line under the white part of the French tip +$5...OH AND TO TAKE THE GEL OFF +$15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should have asked how much the air was to breath! Every little thing $$$. The lady started working on my feet (Nancy). She didn't attempt to ask me how my day was, or even speak to me...but it makes sense, she didn't understand English. This is my 2nd time at this nail salon and I can finally say I've found my nail tech. My daughter and I went in for full set manicures at our appointments and we only waited a little bit till we got our service started. We had a great experience. It was my daughter's 1st time getting her nails done so she had high expectations of how she wanted her nails done. In the end, we both loved how our nails came out. I forgot the name of the other nail tech who worked on my daughter's nails, but my nail tech was Leo. He's done my nails before and he's the reason why I went back to this location. I didn't know he was doing my nails again this time, but glad he did. He does beautiful work. He pays attention to details, he's careful, and takes the time to make sure his work comes out looking nice. I don't get my nails done that often because I'm very particular and I'm a perfectionist, but I can now say that I will only get my nails done by Leo going forward and the search of finding a nail salon is over! I've been here twice for a pedicure and got the same technician by chance. She was super friendly and chatty. The first pedicure was okay. It looked fine from afar, but if you actually looked directly at my toes, you would see she missed most of the edges and didn't do a very detailed job. She also left my toenails slightly uneven lengths. Again, couldn't tell unless you were purposefully looking. Based on the first results, I wasn't eager to go back. However, I got stuck with expiring credits on ClassPass, and happened to need a pedicure, and they were a steal at 6 credits. I booked an appt and went back, wasn't thrilled I got the same lady, but she actually did a perfect job this time! I tried to book a third appointment, but they cancelled on my ClassPass appointment twice. Now they don't seem to have appointments available, and judging by another Yelper's bad experience with booking on ClassPass, they probably wised up to the fact that it was too good of a deal. I'm not sure why they ever went the ClassPass route. They were way too busy to begin with. Both times they took about an hour for a regular pedicure because they seem to say yes to everyone and just work people in whenever they had a pause with another client. Still, I recommend giving them a try if you're not in too much of a hurry. read more

I never write reviews but my experience tonight was shocking. I was told to come in at 5pm to get a acrylic fill and gel pedicure. My nail tech Joey is no longer there so they assigned someone new to me which is fine . The problem was she took longer than expected and as a result they were rushing to get me out so they could all go home (6:45pm). They didn't have me wash my hands at any point before they started painting them or after but instead just through some oil on them so they didn't look as bad. When I showed them a picture of what I wanted which was an obvious ombré pink to white they chose a color to just paint the nails so it would be faster and tried to convince me it matched the picture. My nail lady finished the polish with her purse and coat on as she was ready to head out. My gel pedicure even has divots in the polish. Ugh, this was not the self care experience I was looking for, I'll try somewhere new next time. read more

Apologies in advance for the long review. I came in for a quick gel manicure. I told them I was in bit of a time constraint. I had an hour to get back to work. They said no problem. It took 1hr 20 for a basic gel manicure. You can imagine my frustration when they peel - One day later! I go back in and tell them. They act surprised and start giving me hassle. I ask to get them redone and they agree I can't wait 30 min to get them done and she makes it difficult for me to make another appointment. However the redeeming part of all this is that the owner got in contact with me and told me to come in and she will do them for me. Brenda was lovely and such a redemption for the last 2 experiences. We have gone to Red Persimmon Nails and Spa 8 or 9 times over the past year. This last time, was our final time going. I paid $45 for an upgraded pedicure which included a 12 min foot massage. When I politely asked why the massage was skipped, I was told that it already took place... seriously? I understand they might have forgotten which pedicure I paid for but the behavior of the gentleman was embarrassing. He was so rude. Overall, terrible customer service. After just 24 hours of having them done two of the nails split/ cracked. I don't know if they use cheap tips for the dip powder to go on top but I feel like I wasted my money. This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to. I booked an appointment on ClassPass. I came to my appointment early, and told them when I got there while asking if they were willing to take me 30 minutes earlier. They gave me the normal RBF stare down and agreed to take me. Red flag number 1 was doing my manicure in a pedicure chair. Red flag number 2 was when I felt the need to check Yelp reviews during my manicure cause I felt like something was off. Red flag number three was when she poured cuticle oil all over my hands at the end of the appointment. When I was checking out, I showed them I booked on ClassPass (aka it's been paid) and they said they had never heard of it. I showed them the app from top to bottom (instead of thinking I rigged a screenshot or something). They told me they only accept Zelle, Venmo, whatever and forced me to pay rather than doing the right thing and apologizing for the inconvenience. They were so unwilling to hear me out or take ownership for how their business ended up on ClassPass. To make things worse, once I got to my car, the cuticle oil instantly made my steering wheel sticky to round out the horrible hour I spent at Red Persimmon. read more

This was my first experience at this salon. I always go to another salon in the Carlsbad shopping center, but thought I would give this one a shot since it's so much closer to my house. I immediately regretted taken the chance. I made a 10am appointment and the staff didn't show up/open their doors until 5 after, no big deal but it just added to my expectations. Once I sat down the gal aggressively picked at my cuticles until my fingers felt raw. I could've moved past all of this until it came to my actual gels. I chose the 'cat eye' style gels that are $5 more, my gal obviously had no idea how to work the magnet to make the 'cat eye' affect for this type of polish. Another manicurist who seemed more experienced came over and redid my left hand as I awkwardly sat there listening to them argue. Finally after my left hand was done, the experienced manicurist passed me back to my gal who tried again and persisted to mess up the magnet technique on my right hand. The experienced manicurist had to came back AGAIN and redo my right hand. This time with haste and rushing because her own client was waiting, therein resulting in my gels being fully messed up. (Included a pic) All in all, this resulted in a gel manicure looking totally messed up, cuticles raw and hurting after the manicure, and me feeling incredibly unwelcome/uncomfortable. To top it all off, they persisted to charge me in full (a discount seemed appropriate) and the experienced manicurist shouted out after me as I left 'sorry!' They need to either not advertise for something they can't execute, or ensure all of their manicurists are fully trained. If someone is shouting sorry to a first time client as they leave they obviously knew something was wrong and didn't handle it. I hate writing negative reviews, especially as someone who works in the beauty industry- I want other beauty businesses to succeed! My hope is that they see this and try to do better. I came in with my grandmother today, we both got pedicures, and she also got a manicure. From the beginning of my service, Lisa had a negative attitude, and was very aggressive. The water was piping hot and burned my feet, and she seemed irritated that I couldn't handle the temperature of the water. During the massage portion, she touched my leg with a disgusted look on her face... and said verbatim "your legs are so rough and bumpy". For one, this is inappropriate. Anyone with an ounce of professionalism would just keep that comment to themselves. I just responded by saying "oh haha I'm sorry I've got to wax my legs". Secondly, my legs were not that prickly?? The comment was just unnecessary and rude. The worst part of our experience was that they did not finish my grandma's manicure. They did all the steps leading up to the polish... but her manicurist (not sure what her name is) just walked away without polishing her nails. When we checked out, they charged her for a whole manicure. My Grandma is 84, and it upsets me that they took advantage of her. I didn't realize that this happened until after we left, and she refused to go back and ask for her polish or a refund because she was too uncomfortable asking because of how rude the staff was. I have been going to Red Persimmons for 4 years now. They are Oceanside's best kept secret. Anything from full acrylic sets, mani's, pedi's, eye lash extensions or eye brows this is the place to go! The entire staff here is caring, clean and friendly. The salon was just recently renovated and is beautiful inside. They have very nice pedicure chairs and all of the colors and styles you can think of. I always get compliments on my nails when out and about. Unfortunately I am going to give this place a bad review. The good thing is that this place is easy to get into without an appt and there's plenty of parking to go to and the location is spacious and nice and there are things around. The issue I had is that they don't follow great sanitary procedures. I got a regular pedicure and a manicure (first time doing dip gel) and I had a very bad experience. First they charge $40 for a dip gel and since it was my first time I didn't know what to expect about it but they literally took the dip powder and dipped my entire nails within the main powder (they didn't take a subset of it and dipped my nails) I was looking online and apparently this is highly unsanitary and more with the COVID times we live in. Also they charged $40 and didn't even did my cuticles I had to ask at the end why they weren't done or why didn't someone gave me a heads up if "this wasn't included". Then my toes.... The lady painted my toes SO badly when she finished I couldn't believe they were going to let me walk out in the state it was. I had a lot of cuticle, I had paint all over my skin and worst of all the paint look uneven like if a kid had done it. I had to talk to the manager to inspect them and tell me what she thought because I was shock they would let me go like that. Even after she did it for the second time it still wasn't good. I was there for like 2:30 h after all the back and forth and waiting for paint and it was just so uncomfortable to keep asking her to re inspect and do her actual checkup (that she should have done in the beginning). Never again, I'm not going back to this place as they don't follow sanitation protocols (I even read that if a salon Dips your nail in the main powder/gel) you can even report them because this is very dangerous for clients and can cause infections. They were all about the fast route and not focusing on details nor attention. Also they are not good at painting nails and they still charge like any other place that would have done a much better job. read more
