I wanted to get away from acrylic as I had been doing them for over 30 years. So I recently had to go in for surgery and knew recovery was going to be over a month so I took off my nails and that would be the perfect time to move on... So fast forward to today (6 weeks post surgery) finally ready to get a new set so I went to Yelp to find a new place that had high star reviews within 25 min of my house and found this place. So called and made a same day appointment and was set with Ivan. I'm so happy Ivan took the time to listen to what I wanted and knowing this was my first gel x set he talked about the process and we were ready to go. Then he checked in several times to make sure I was happy with the length and shape which I totally am. So needless to say Ivan's my new nail tech!!! So glad. They do a meticulous job no matter which technician ends up doing my nails. I usually just get a regular spa pedi/mani (they also do gel and special powders, plus acrylics) and I am always happy with the results for the price. The place is clean and they take walk-ins, but I have had to come back another day with an appointment since they were booked one time when I walked in. I have always been greeted right away with a friendly attitude, and they give you a small bottle of water when you sit down for your service. I came in without an appointment a week after getting a pedicure there, because I stepped on something at home which caused my toenail polish to chip, and they welcomed me into a chair right away and touched up that toe and a few others that needed it free of charge. Another lady Emily greeted me with a smile and she said she had been my technician when I had been here last time . she actually worked it out so she was my technician again. She was friendly and professional. I had a wonderful pedicure. My toes are perfect. towards the end of my service it got busy. Emily asked if one of the other people could do the foot and leg massage. I said sure and the owner who greeted me actually came over to finish my service . He was very pleasant and gentle. He always ask me about the pressure on my feet to make sure that I was comfortable with my foot rub and he was chatty. We had a great time. To be honest, B and Sarah were so nice and I hate to give them a bad review, but my nails were done badly.. peeling after 2 days, etc. I stopped here on an off day bc I live close, saw good reviews.. just couldn't stand my nails anymore, but didn't wanna drive out to San Marcos. I ended up having to get them redone the same week by my usual nail tech anyway, so the trip to Red Apple was a total waste of money. Taking a closer look now at the pictures of others' nails that did give good reviews, I should have known-- what they considered "awesome" jobs were actually barely good, in my opinion. Lumpy, not filed correctly, acrylic and paint spillage that were obvious.. Admittedly a perfectionist when it comes to something I will wear every day, but these didnt even last a week. My usual nail lady was disappointed, said something about their product, filing and painting jobs (see pictures) and asked if their place/procedures seemed clean to me. It was weird that they didnt have me wash my hands at any point during the acrylics, and I didn't actually see where they pulled their sterilized(?) tools from either. In the end, she ended up taking off half of my nails that she didnt want me to keep on because of possible fungus from water damage, then refiled and repainted. Other than that, the place was clean, cute, the techs polite! An old regular came in and they all exchanged hugs and "imissedyou!"s. I thought that was sweet, so I'm not surprised they do have return customers. I'd make an appt before coming in bc theres a chance no one will be there since they are a mom/daughter shop and set their own hours.
