I came in without an appointment about thirty minutes before closing. I waited around 20 minutes since the staff was busy helping other customers, but the service was excellent. They provided water and chocolate while we waited for our SA. No snobby attitude from any of the employees. Ming was very friendly and easy to talk to. I was looking for a graduation gift and knew exactly which one I wanted, which made the process very smooth. Ming also explained the history of the brand; it's a special touch I haven't really encountered with other luxury brands before.

As always, Van Cleef delivers. My SA, Cameron immediately responds to my messages and goes above and beyond. I initially had a different SA three years ago when I made my first purchase of the Vintage Alhambra pendant and 5-motif bracelet set in Mother of Pearl, but I guess she no longer works there. My husband always gifts me a VCA set as a push present. In May 2023, I added the Vintage Alhambra pendant and 5-motif bracelet set in Onyx. I love the size of the Vintage Alhambra. In my opinion, the sweet is too small and the magic is too big. Vintage is the perfect size for my neck. Currently, I'm 38 weeks pregnant with our third child and my husband wanted to get me my push present. Yesterday, I went to look at the Vintage Alhambra pendant and 5-motif bracelet set in Malachite and Agate. Unfortunately, there were no bracelets in stock. Malachite is such an elegant green, but it's super fragile. My favorite color is blue and Agate is so pretty in person. I couldn't decide which pendant I wanted, so my husband bought me both and we ordered the 5-motif bracelet in Agate. My SA said that it should arrive within two months. I can't wait!!!

Great customer service. Cindy was very patient and helpful. I was offered tea and chocolate as well. Happy with my purchase.

Vintage Alhambra earrings and necklaces. The service is really nice. I recommend to make an appoitment before you head over because faster service. If not first come first serve, they usually have a line and they only let certain number of customers to go in at a time.

Great service from Ming, he helped me choose a beautiful piece. He also took his time and walked me through the entire process.

Since my name is Van I was looking for a V-brand luxury line to invest in. What better V-brand for Van than Van Cleef. As a birthday gift to myself this year, I decided to indulge in some jewelry. Self-love! I had my eyes on the Vintage Alhambra pendant for a while now, and I was ready to make the leap. On the day of my visit, I did not have a reservation. I was helped by Carina Chen, who I really liked her helpfulness and energy. I was given chocolates from La Maison Du Chocolat and some Perrier to hydrate. I decided to opt for the complimentary 2-inch adjustment, which was estimated to take 2 weeks. I was in a good mood leaving this location of Van Cleef, but the next few steps were less than smooth for a purchase of luxury goods. I had to keep an eye on the website for the status of my jewelry. On Wednesday, May 1 I saw online that my piece would be ready by Thursday, May 2. On Saturday, May 4, the business, Nana, texted me with 2 people on the thread informing me that my jewelry piece was ready. In the text she said they operate by appointments and to respond with a pick up time. I replied the same day asking for Tuesday, May 7th. No response. There was Saturday, Sunday, Monday before Tuesday. No response after I sent my pick-up time. On Tuesday, May 7 I arrived and the person at the front asked if I had a reservation. I said yes, and even showed her the text. Can you believe THEY GAVE ME A HARD TIME, and said that was not a reservation because they didn't respond. WELL WHO'S FAULT IS THAT?!?!?! Y'alls had days to reply. I'm sorry you have awful customer service. Oh guess what? They weren't even busy. Literally someone was available to help me right away. The person they assigned me wasn't friendly either. I guess if they can't make commission off me, they don't need to provide positive customer service. I will say the bartender was nice, cause she brought over some more La Maison Du Chocolate boxes and Perrier. She was the only lovely encounter this day. So back to the unfriendly staff, I asked for a travel pouch and she told me that I had to pick between the box or the travel case. Cartier gives me both. How ghetto. I picked the box since it was more sturdy and compact, but it's not a great storage mechanism because the necklace gets tangled if I use that box. I am literally using my Cartier travel bag to better store this necklace. So ridiculous. For spending over $3k for a luxury good, this is the worst experience I have ever endured. Cartier and Burberry would never treat me so badly. If it's going to be this way, I might as well buy stuff online to avoid your grumpy staff. Or spend my spare money on other luxury brands. This location is an embarrassment to the "Van" in Van Cleef.

I adore Van Cleef and all their wonderful pieces. I finally pulled the trigger to reward myself with a VCA necklace. The sales associate, Elliott, I was paired with for purchasing was kind and attentive. My necklace had to be adjusted for extra length and turn around time would be approximately 2-3 weeks. I didn't mind the waiting and received the email that my necklace was ready for pick up. Upon arrival to pick up, the SA who provided service was distracted, curt, and made me feel like a hassle in her day on 10/30/24 at 10:30am. She was busy with another client's white gold Perlee bracelet. I did not catch her name unfortunately, however, this experience was unsatisfactory and disappointing. She did not go over jewelry care/maintenance. My necklace was not boxed/wrapped up. She simply placed it in a travel pouch and asked, "Do you need a bag?". I sincerely hope VCA will improve their service for future clients. I will not be returning to this location.

Vintage Alhambra guilloche bracelet, 5 motifs, in yellow gold
    Katie B.

I'm still very much in love with my Vintage Alhambra 5 motifs guilloche bracelet. But the 2 stars is for the customer service. I'm not even mad, I'm just extremely disappointed with the durability of the jewelry and the service I've received from different SAs. This bracelet is highly sought after, so it took them 3 months from purchase to delivery until I was able to pick it up in July 2023. It was worth the wait but not sure if it's worth the dollar amount. I bought the bracelet bc it's just so beautifully crafted and sparkly and feminine and dainty. But that shouldn't mean it should be flimsy too. After ONE MONTH of wearing it, one of the chain links broke and my bracelet fell off. I contacted my SA and she was sympathetic but said the broken link is not under warranty and I would have to pay $180 for the repair. VCA offers the tailoring of their jewelry to your liking free of charge, within one year of purchase. And since I also wanted to add two additional links back onto the bracelet I thought the fee would be waived bc it's really just taking out the broken link, replacing it and adding two more links. They would have to do the same anyway to just add links, so why couldn't they just waive it? I just don't understand. Why would I pay more to fix a lemon of expensive jewelry? The SA was nice to ask her manager but of course VCA is a business of selling, not really for building the brand or the relationship and the fee could not be waived. Some SAs are nice, but most are not. Some I can't even understand their accents. Not trying to be mean or insensitive here, just stating that I can't understand what they're saying to me. The store is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and like other luxury stores, they offer you Evian, champagne and chocolate while you wait. This is my first jewelry with VCA and will likely be my last unfortunately. Just a shame.

I feel lucky to have stumbled across the best SA while shopping here! If you're looking to browse or shop with an amazing, professional, sweet, and kind SA, please ask for Yaying (Yay for short). She will take care of you. She is patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. After taking hours looking at so many beautiful pieces and changing my mind over and over, I have finally placed an order with her in the store and she let me know that my order is in, but it will definitely take months for me to receive my piece. I'm really excited because the item I chose has high value and will take time to get since everyone is on the wait list for it. It is highly sought after and I'm afraid they will close the waiting list, so I made the decision to get my hands on it now.

Checked out their newer location at the SCP and it's much bigger and nicer. They had a couple securities to help you check in. I already knew her I wanted to check out, so the whole process was quick. And the SA who helped me was professional and friendly.

Updating review after reaching out to their client relations team. I was introduced to Karen, the manager of this location. She was very apologetic and tried her best to remedy the situation, asking for more details and making sure that her staff is adequately trained to treat clients respectfully. She told me she was sending a gift to apologize and I wasn't expecting a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Thank you, Karen!

He visited several jewelers across OC, from large retailers to family owned stores and even some that were recommended by other friends/family but none compared to the genuine care and honest customer service he received from Kathy and Jenny here! I came with my fiancé on his first visit here to get sized and choose some shapes that I preferred. Kathy patiently walked us through sizing and explored different shapes with zero pressure and so much patience. We loved how relatable she was and how natural and genuine our convos went! When he returned on his own, Jenny took her time to educate him fully and showcased her expertise (being in the business for 30+ years) and made sure he truly understood every detail, not just the 4 C's, but things other stores never even mentioned so he could feel confident making such an important decision. They actually encouraged him to even take his time and check out other places to make sure he was confident in his decision. This kind of customer care made all the difference! I didn't see the ring until the proposal, and it was absolutely perfect! But what makes it even more meaningful is knowing how much thought, care, and intention went into choosing it and how much of that came from the guidance he received there. I really can't thank both Jenny and Kathy enough for making his experience so smooth and seamless! If you're starting your ring journey and feel overwhelmed, go to South Coast Jewelers. They don't just sell you a ring, they make you feel confident, excited, and taken care of which makes this kind of experience so much more priceless.

He felt judged right away, as if they didn't really want him as a customer. He was genuinely interested in finding a ring and doing business with a local jeweler, but it felt like he was underestimated from the start, which was disappointing. What made it more upsetting was that this is an Asian-owned establishment, yet the environment felt very judgmental and uninviting. During that first visit, they offered to email him the paperwork with ring details and sizing information--but we never received anything. At that point, we were still actively shopping around. When I later went back with him, the staff seemed slightly friendlier once I was there (I'm Asian), but the overall vibe was still the same--very cold and not particularly interested in helping us or earning our business. Again, we asked for follow-up emails, including the GIA paperwork and details we discussed in person, and once again, nothing was ever sent. In the end, we decided to skip this jeweler altogether and take our business elsewhere. Honestly, I'm glad we did. A big purchase like an engagement ring should feel exciting and welcoming, and unfortunately, that just wasn't the experience here

When someone walks in to buy an engagement ring, they are trusting you with an important moment in…read moretheir life, and that trust was completely mishandled here. I came in just before Christmas because I planned to propose to my girlfriend on an upcoming vacation. When I first walked in, I told the sales associate that I was looking for a quality engagement ring and wanted to see their better options, since this was an important purchase for me. I also made it very clear that this was my first time buying jewelry, that I had a firm $10,000 budget for the entire ring, and that I only wanted a natural diamond, not lab grown. During our discussion comparing natural versus lab grown, she mentioned that natural diamonds are generally viewed more favorably, which reinforced my decision to stick with a natural stone. There was absolutely no confusion about my budget or what I was looking for. We went over it several times, a $10,000 budget for the complete ring and natural diamonds only. Despite that, I was sold a band for about $7,000 that did not include the center diamond, with very clear guidance that a natural two carat diamond would fit this exact setting and could be added as soon as I returned from my vacation, all within the remainder of my budget. I was told this would be no problem at all and that this was a normal process. I trusted that advice and planned accordingly. I also explained that proposing on my trip was the priority, and I was comfortable upgrading the center diamond immediately afterward, as I was advised. The ring itself was beautiful and the temporary stone looked great in the setting, so I felt confident proposing with it and completing the ring upon my return. I was genuinely excited to propose with this ring. My girlfriend loved it immediately, and it already carries emotional and sentimental value for both of us. That is what makes this situation so upsetting. I came back to the store expecting to complete the ring exactly as promised, only to find out that what I had been assured was possible simply was not. Now I am faced with the possibility of having to start over entirely with a different band, despite the fact that this ring is already tied to our engagement and the memory of that moment. What made this even more frustrating is what I learned afterward. Multiple other jewelers explained to me that in an engagement ring, the majority of the budget should go toward the center diamond, not the band. I was essentially guided to spend roughly 70 percent of my total budget on the setting alone, which left me in an impossible position from the start. While the band itself is truly beautiful, with very high quality and bright diamonds, I later learned that pairing it with a natural two carat diamond anywhere near my remaining budget was never realistic. When I returned to the store, and saw the same sales lady's buy the entire story changed. I was immediately shown a $15,000 center diamond on top of the $7,000 ring. When I reminded her of my budget, the sales associate became irritated and dismissive. Only after pushing back did she return with a noticeably yellow, low quality diamond and tried to sell it to me for $8,000, which made no sense given the quality of the ring I had already purchased. It felt like I was being pushed to accept whatever they could sell me instead of what had been promised. After that, I was told she would search and contact me within a week. It has now been over two weeks with no call, no email, and no follow up of any kind. Once they had my money, communication stopped completely. Since then, I have visited multiple other jewelers, and more than one of them immediately recognized the situation and told me they have heard similar stories from customers coming from this same store. They also explained that getting a nice two carat natural diamond within the remaining budget was never realistic with the quality of the setting I was sold. At those stores, I was educated, treated with care, and given realistic options. The difference in professionalism and integrity was night and day. What I learned through all of this is that buying jewelry should be an educational experience, where all the facts are laid out clearly so you can make an informed decision. At those other stores, I felt guided and respected. Here, I felt bait and switched, not advised kindly through a once in a lifetime purchase. Now I am left with an expensive, incomplete engagement ring and a situation that should never have happened. What should have been an exciting and meaningful experience turned into stress, disappointment, and feeling misled. If you are shopping for an engagement ring and do not already know exactly what you are doing, I strongly recommend going somewhere else. Clear communication, realistic expectations, and basic follow through should be the minimum standard for a purchase of this size, and unfortunately that was not my experience here at all.

At the time they were around $25, and now they're listed at $48 on the website. Unfortunately, the most recent one I purchased broke within a week or two. I stopped by the shop today to ask if there was anything they could do--whether that meant repairing it or offering a small discount toward a replacement. Nothing was offered, and the interaction I had (I believe with May Martin's mother) felt dismissive and uncomfortable. I was told the necklaces looked tarnished and was lectured about how to care for them. In reality, they had been sitting in a drawer for a year or two because I wasn't sure what to do after the chain broke. I understand that things can break and that policies vary, but customer service matters. Even a simple apology or a small gesture--like a repair option or a 5-10% discount--would have gone a long way toward creating a better experience.
