One of the things on my bucket list is to learn how to capture the brilliance and dazzle of a perfect diamond in a photo...... I keep trying but still haven't learned, Thing is, I've seen professionally photographed pictures, and while much better than mine, it's just something that I think escapes the eye of a camera.... any camera. To see these visually stunning beauties (the diamonds), especially from a store the caliber of Harry Winston, well, it's a sight to behold. I am mesmerized. Oh, and let me correct my initial statement, while photography is great, what is ALSO on my bucket list is to be able to afford an exquisite piece of Harry Winston jewelry.... that's an even better idea !! As I was not in the market for any jewelry, I did not bother to try anything on, and thus, cannot speak to the fine customer service that many other Yelpers spoke of.... but I can always say what gorgeous jewelry I viewed. This store location is much less intimidating that the ones in Beverly Hills or in Manhattan. I always feel awkward just being a looky-loo...... but then, I'm sure stores like these are used to it.

If $4 Million had a color... it would be Fancy Yellow & Blue Sapphire!

My now husband and I first walked into this store 4 years ago to purchase my wedding band and our experience was excellent.  Yesterday we went to the mall and, he suggested that we go in to get my band cleaned but, to my surprise, our visit was not just to clean my ring.   We were greeted by Matthew, who nonchalantly offered to assist us. He politely asked me for my band so that he could clean it for me.  He led us into a "waiting room" in the back and to my surprise, I walk in to find a table beautifully set up with white roses, two glasses of champagne, a platter of Godiva chocolates and my husband, holding "The One!" I was confused and in utter surprise for a few seconds before reality sunk in.  My husband had purchased the most beautiful ring for me and with Matthew's help, arranged an unforgettable moment.  It could not have been anymore perfect! Before I ever heard the name HW, I remember walking into a Tiffany's store and I can't even recall being acknowledged by the sales reps.  HW not only makes high quality pieces but really is unparalleled in its customer service. You only live once and HW and the staff at this Costa Mesa store, truly know how to make that moment in your life unforgettable! :D I originally posted my original review back in 2013, to learn (now four years later) that Yelp removed my review because of an automated system that claims my review is not real?? Yelp.. You should be ashamed of yourself and a bad review should be given to your system for the inability to identify an authentic post by a real person!!

As I began my search for an appraisal I wanted to start at the top. The tip top of fine jewelers whose reputations precede them. I knew that my wife's necklace was not fashioned by The Harry Winston Co. and that these Jewelry Houses do not appraise pieces that are not their own. What I did not expect was an Associate extending the courtesies of obtaining contact information for those established, reputable Jewelers that will appraise outside pieces and come with a recommendation. Matthew answered the phone and within minutes directed me to a well known appraiser as well as a second industry professional who could possibly help me with finding the right auction house for my wife's opera necklace. Matthew really did not have to do that. In reality, I am not a client, and is he neither expected nor required to go the extra mile as I'm sure so many other yelpers would feel 'entitled' to... that is sad but true. I am sure the phone rings with these kinds of inquiries far too often to be able to always maintain a friendly disposition. Not the case here... I appreciate the assistance Matt. Hopefully this antique necklace sells at the auction... it will be a fun day. Jewelry is meant to enjoy and bedazzle. Enjoy!

Deemed "The One" by Harry Winston, the cushion cut halo with micropave diamonds is a classic (engagement) ring and beloved by all. In fact, BH fell in love with the ring, the diamond, the customer service and everything Harry Winston, that he wouldn't stop talking about HW for a good hour or two (and even a week) after we were shown the 1 ct (~23k) and 1.5 ct (~34k) version of "the one." Every cushion cut I showed BH before HW, he turned his cute nose up to. He wasn't into Tiffany's Legacy nor was he too thrilled about the one at Cartier either. He wasn't about squares or rectangles. He wanted a brilliant round for me - I'd get more sparkle and more beauty with a perfect circle than any other shape. But once BH laid his eyes on the most perfectly cut cushion (in the world?) he knew instantly what he would do when he'd win the lotto: buy me this ring. That, or we wait until we move into a bigger house, secure the education of future children, and make sure our finances are sound before we decide to buy this ring. . . Until then, I will just have to smile sweetly at the remembrance of seeing "the one" grace my grubby little hands for a brief, beautiful moment.

    love it!

The ONLY reason why I wanted to go to South Coast Plaza was to check out the HW store. I did browsing here and there online and was happy to know they had it at this store. My dream ring is the Classic Winston, Round Brilliant-Cut Ring and I wanted to view it. I was hesitant in entering the store because I felt intimidated by looking at the outside of the store. Upon entering, I went straight to the rings and I saw the DREAM ring. My eyes went BIG and Matthew kindly greeted us then asked me if I wanted to try some on. Are you SERIOUS? I am NOT worthy but of course I did. The first ring I tried on was the DREAM ring. WOW, so BEAUTIFUL! The price... not so much but what do you expect? The second ring was the Classic Winston, Round Brilliant-Cut Ring and oooh wee. It was AMAZING as well. The final ring I tried on was not displayed. It was the HW rings. Matthew was nice enough to go into the back and locate the HW ring. I tried that on and fell in love with it!!!!!!!!! I point to it and informed my bf with a BIG SMILE... I WANT THAT ONE. He was sweating bullets and just nodded. Hey a girl can dream but it's up to him to make them come true :)

He visited several jewelers across OC, from large retailers to family owned stores and even some that were recommended by other friends/family but none compared to the genuine care and honest customer service he received from Kathy and Jenny here! I came with my fiancé on his first visit here to get sized and choose some shapes that I preferred. Kathy patiently walked us through sizing and explored different shapes with zero pressure and so much patience. We loved how relatable she was and how natural and genuine our convos went! When he returned on his own, Jenny took her time to educate him fully and showcased her expertise (being in the business for 30+ years) and made sure he truly understood every detail, not just the 4 C's, but things other stores never even mentioned so he could feel confident making such an important decision. They actually encouraged him to even take his time and check out other places to make sure he was confident in his decision. This kind of customer care made all the difference! I didn't see the ring until the proposal, and it was absolutely perfect! But what makes it even more meaningful is knowing how much thought, care, and intention went into choosing it and how much of that came from the guidance he received there. I really can't thank both Jenny and Kathy enough for making his experience so smooth and seamless! If you're starting your ring journey and feel overwhelmed, go to South Coast Jewelers. They don't just sell you a ring, they make you feel confident, excited, and taken care of which makes this kind of experience so much more priceless.

He felt judged right away, as if they didn't really want him as a customer. He was genuinely interested in finding a ring and doing business with a local jeweler, but it felt like he was underestimated from the start, which was disappointing. What made it more upsetting was that this is an Asian-owned establishment, yet the environment felt very judgmental and uninviting. During that first visit, they offered to email him the paperwork with ring details and sizing information--but we never received anything. At that point, we were still actively shopping around. When I later went back with him, the staff seemed slightly friendlier once I was there (I'm Asian), but the overall vibe was still the same--very cold and not particularly interested in helping us or earning our business. Again, we asked for follow-up emails, including the GIA paperwork and details we discussed in person, and once again, nothing was ever sent. In the end, we decided to skip this jeweler altogether and take our business elsewhere. Honestly, I'm glad we did. A big purchase like an engagement ring should feel exciting and welcoming, and unfortunately, that just wasn't the experience here

When someone walks in to buy an engagement ring, they are trusting you with an important moment in…read moretheir life, and that trust was completely mishandled here. I came in just before Christmas because I planned to propose to my girlfriend on an upcoming vacation. When I first walked in, I told the sales associate that I was looking for a quality engagement ring and wanted to see their better options, since this was an important purchase for me. I also made it very clear that this was my first time buying jewelry, that I had a firm $10,000 budget for the entire ring, and that I only wanted a natural diamond, not lab grown. During our discussion comparing natural versus lab grown, she mentioned that natural diamonds are generally viewed more favorably, which reinforced my decision to stick with a natural stone. There was absolutely no confusion about my budget or what I was looking for. We went over it several times, a $10,000 budget for the complete ring and natural diamonds only. Despite that, I was sold a band for about $7,000 that did not include the center diamond, with very clear guidance that a natural two carat diamond would fit this exact setting and could be added as soon as I returned from my vacation, all within the remainder of my budget. I was told this would be no problem at all and that this was a normal process. I trusted that advice and planned accordingly. I also explained that proposing on my trip was the priority, and I was comfortable upgrading the center diamond immediately afterward, as I was advised. The ring itself was beautiful and the temporary stone looked great in the setting, so I felt confident proposing with it and completing the ring upon my return. I was genuinely excited to propose with this ring. My girlfriend loved it immediately, and it already carries emotional and sentimental value for both of us. That is what makes this situation so upsetting. I came back to the store expecting to complete the ring exactly as promised, only to find out that what I had been assured was possible simply was not. Now I am faced with the possibility of having to start over entirely with a different band, despite the fact that this ring is already tied to our engagement and the memory of that moment. What made this even more frustrating is what I learned afterward. Multiple other jewelers explained to me that in an engagement ring, the majority of the budget should go toward the center diamond, not the band. I was essentially guided to spend roughly 70 percent of my total budget on the setting alone, which left me in an impossible position from the start. While the band itself is truly beautiful, with very high quality and bright diamonds, I later learned that pairing it with a natural two carat diamond anywhere near my remaining budget was never realistic. When I returned to the store, and saw the same sales lady's buy the entire story changed. I was immediately shown a $15,000 center diamond on top of the $7,000 ring. When I reminded her of my budget, the sales associate became irritated and dismissive. Only after pushing back did she return with a noticeably yellow, low quality diamond and tried to sell it to me for $8,000, which made no sense given the quality of the ring I had already purchased. It felt like I was being pushed to accept whatever they could sell me instead of what had been promised. After that, I was told she would search and contact me within a week. It has now been over two weeks with no call, no email, and no follow up of any kind. Once they had my money, communication stopped completely. Since then, I have visited multiple other jewelers, and more than one of them immediately recognized the situation and told me they have heard similar stories from customers coming from this same store. They also explained that getting a nice two carat natural diamond within the remaining budget was never realistic with the quality of the setting I was sold. At those stores, I was educated, treated with care, and given realistic options. The difference in professionalism and integrity was night and day. What I learned through all of this is that buying jewelry should be an educational experience, where all the facts are laid out clearly so you can make an informed decision. At those other stores, I felt guided and respected. Here, I felt bait and switched, not advised kindly through a once in a lifetime purchase. Now I am left with an expensive, incomplete engagement ring and a situation that should never have happened. What should have been an exciting and meaningful experience turned into stress, disappointment, and feeling misled. If you are shopping for an engagement ring and do not already know exactly what you are doing, I strongly recommend going somewhere else. Clear communication, realistic expectations, and basic follow through should be the minimum standard for a purchase of this size, and unfortunately that was not my experience here at all.

One of my favorite pieces has always been the Opalite necklace. Over the years I've probably purchased at least five of them. At the time they were around $25, and now they're listed at $48 on the website. Unfortunately, the most recent one I purchased broke within a week or two. I stopped by the shop today to ask if there was anything they could do--whether that meant repairing it or offering a small discount toward a replacement. Nothing was offered, and the interaction I had (I believe with May Martin's mother) felt dismissive and uncomfortable. I was told the necklaces looked tarnished and was lectured about how to care for them. In reality, they had been sitting in a drawer for a year or two because I wasn't sure what to do after the chain broke. I understand that things can break and that policies vary, but customer service matters. Even a simple apology or a small gesture--like a repair option or a 5-10% discount--would have gone a long way toward creating a better experience. Unfortunately, the interaction left me with a bad impression, and I don't plan to return. I'd recommend looking for higher-quality pieces elsewhere.
