In fact, Marie used a touchscreen tablet to walk us through the inventory. -- all loose diamonds are GIA graded, with appropriate paperwork -- if close by, this location is a nice place to get your purchased jewelry to be cleaned and maintained, just like a regular full-service jeweler -- all custom jewelry is made off-site, with the stores using a central location to do the work. -- a 48 hour hold can be placed on diamonds, during which time decisions can be made. -- cash sales via bank wire will save 1.5% -- they have a generous, return-for-any-reason policy.

As a professional bench jeweler with many years of experience in high-end jewelry, stone setting,…read morerepair, and restoration, I was honestly shocked by the working conditions and the level of equipment in this workshop. The bench I was given was extremely poorly equipped. There was no properly functioning microscope, no proper stone-setting tools, no professional holding systems, no gravers, and not even the basic precision tools I would normally expect for fine jewelry work, hand engraving, detailed metal work, or precise stone setting. What surprised me even more was that when I asked the manager about the proper tools for setting stones, I was told that this is simply how they do the work there -- without the equipment and precision tools I was asking for. In my professional experience, high-quality jewelry repair, restoration, and stone setting require proper magnification, proper holding systems, and precision tools. I personally perform detailed work under a microscope because that is how you control the metal, the stone, and every small detail. Working without these tools makes it extremely difficult to achieve the level of precision expected in fine jewelry. I know this firsthand because I applied for a bench jeweler position there and was asked to work for a full day as part of their evaluation. This was not a short bench test or a small sample job. I worked a complete 8-hour day doing actual jewelry work. After that full day, I was never paid for my work, and I never received a proper follow-up regarding the position. Based on what I personally observed at the bench, I would have serious concerns about bringing valuable fine jewelry there for complex repair, restoration, or stone-setting work.
