This is my 2nd time here and I just got the absolute best foot massage before my pedi. Literally was like a true foot massage and calf/shin massage that I would normally pay my regular masseuse to do. Wow. 100 points for this. Yes they do walk ins - but understand that you may have to wait because they are popular and really good! So I make a reservation and they always accommodate me. My friend and I had appts today for pedicures after being pleased twice before. We were seated within 10 min., but the water was cold. One of the nail techs warmed the water, and no one helped or spoke to us again. After 40 min. we left. No pedicure! We won't go back. If they'd apologized or said can you come back later, etc., that would've helped. read more

V Refine is two minutes from my house and I usually get pedicures when I go--Helen is really good, so you should request her if you go. The staff is really nice although they should have a separate area for their kids--sometimes its annoying to have them running around all the time. Go check them out though. read more

On our first appointment, Lisa took my hands and remarked, ever so sternly, about how my nails were lacking health, clarity, good nail beds, etc. Honestly, she was 110% correct! I have been wearing acrylic-gel nails since early 1980's and the low quality of some products over the years had coat my nails their natural luster. Also, my real nails were yellow and very ridged! Nail salons are certainly abundant in this area, but I decided to check out V Refine after reading the other reviews here. I work in the Ballantyne Corporate Park, so this place is really convenient for sliding in on lunch hour or right after work. Their prices are very competitive for the area - around $25 (before tip) for a pedi is the going rate. (I forgot to use my BCP discount card on this visit.) The place is clean and they do have a large selection of polish. While it was not the best pedicure I have ever gotten, for the price point I thought it was fair. I'll give them another try when I am ready for my next pedi. read more

I wish I still lived in Ballantyne because I haven't found a place as good as this one in uptown or north Charlotte. They have the largest collection of colors I've seen at any nail salon (their OPI - Mod About you is my favorite!) Their prices are extremely reasonable -- $7 for a polish change! The inside is clean and roomy and the staff is really nice and friendly. I have come here just before closing time a couple times and they've still willingly accommodated me. Although all of their staff is skilled, I still recommend getting one of the men to do your nails since they are the most skilled of the lot. Ironic huh? read more

They weren't too busy and seemed to have enough staff. Decor was a little dated. A young lady with blue streaks was my nail tech. She said polite greetings, but looked unhappy. I had a gel only color for $20. There was paint all over my skin, the nail tips were neglected and she had to use a nail file on my skin to get off the color, which made my skin rough and didn't take off all the polish. She nicked the nail several times- I asked if this would make it peel faster- she responded that she wasn't filing the nail so it wouldn't (but she did several times) First time in my life I didn't tip based on the poor service, moderate unfriendliness and disregard for my polish. Will never go back- even though the location is within walking of work and home. read more

I first started going here because it's very close to my job & I live in Huntersville, so by the time I got back to Huntersville fighting rush hour traffic on 485 my usual nail salon would be closed. I loved it the first 3 visits; I always got acrylic with polish or gel & my nails lasted at least 3 weeks before they looked like they needed to be done again! Not only that, the service was good. The first guy who did my nails was kind of quiet, which didn't bother me because I spend the majority of my day talking to people, so it was nice to just get my nails done and relax. On my 4th visit, my usual guy was not there, but the other guy who did my nails was very charismatic & also did a great job with my nails. When I came back the 5th time, I wanted to get a new set (per his suggestion) and I specifically said I wanted to soak my nails in acetone before removing them. The tech was saying it will take a long time to soak them off and to just remove them without soaking my nails. As I was already pressed for time & also planned to get a pedicure, I reluctantly agreed to let him remove my nails without soaking them. BIG MISTAKE. I knew immediately I should have bit the bullet and just had him soak my nails. He used a nail tip to pry the old nails & acrylic off - VERY PAINFUL. And he broke into my nail bed on two of my fingers which caused a large amount of bleeding! I was mortified! And then he had the nerve to imply that the reason that happened was because I "must have hit my nail on something." HUH?! The rest of my nails came off without much pain or further injury. He wanted to continue applying a new set to my now-damaged nails & I refused. I had him put whatever anti-fungal thing they have on it & two bandages. After all that they charged me for a full set!! Which I did not receive because two fingers were bandaged. I was in such a hurry to get out of there before I went ballistic I didn't realize the price until the next day. I promptly went back & disputed the price, to which one of the younger female techs said that upon my next visit I would not have to pay. WRONG. When I came back after my nails had healed (sufficiently) I got a fill-in and the two damaged nails put back. This time it was with the first male nail tech I had dealt with initially. When I tried to explain to him what happened with the other tech, he said, "You hit your nail?" I said, "No, I did not hit my nail. The other guy BUTCHERED it!" Again he said I must have hit my nail, so I just let it go assuming he couldn't understand me. When I was leaving they said I owed $37. (I got a fill-in with gel). First: any other time I got a fill-in with gel it was $35. Second: I was told I would not have to pay. When I explained this to him, he said, "Yes, $37 is the discounted price." WRONG AGAIN. I told him I was not paying $37 because I was promised I would NOT have to pay; they should have been glad I was willing to pay ANYTHING. After some back & forth on the matter he finally dropped the price down to $32. Not much of a bargain for two damaged nails & a hassle. I used to be devoted to going to this place, but after my last experience I will not ever go back. I won't completely drag the place; they do good work MOST of the time. And the associates are all very nice & hospitable, but I'll take a rude technician with HEALTHY nails over a nice technician who can't own up to their mistake. read more

I got a gel manicure but the manicure portion of it was lacking. My nails look great but she literally only massaged my hands and arms for about 60 seconds each. After reading the reviews, I gave this place a shot but was disappointed by the way my nails were done. They didn't paint the tips (gel) and they painted over my nail beds onto my skin so it basically peeled off at the edges within days. Sucks because they were really nice and the young girl gives amazing hand massages. But if your nails only stay painted a few days, that doesn't work for me. read more

I was rushed on my lunch break and decided to give this place a try. I walked in and asked if they could take me now and be don't in 45 minutes because of this. They said yes. Seeing that the 2 workers in there we're already doing pedicures, I asked again if they could start right now. They said yes. I get in the chair, they turn on the water, and it's another 5 minute wait. The pedicure was amazing! She didn't miss a spot in removing all my dry skin. But someone came in to get their eyebrows done and that's when things went downhill. The man that i spoke to when I walked in took over. Because my color was a little thin he applied 3 coats. When he got to my big toe for the top coat he applied it too soon and my color got messed up. Did he trying to go back and fix it? No! He finished applying the top coat and sent me on my way. Had I not been rushed for time he would've definitely been re-doing it. I was really annoyed that he thought this was ok though, it really messed up their tip. There seems to be a core family staff that is excellent, but after the core group, there seems to be a lot of staff turnover. The service at that level is a bit uneven. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. The decor is getting very dated. Some of the massage functions on the chairs do not work and it would appear to be time to do a refresh. They do such a good job and the massage is amazing and lasts so long! The employees are so sweet and remember you after just one or two visits. I must say i have been looking for a great nail salon for quite some time and I think i found it. Every employee at this Salon was super friendly. The selection of nail polish colors is ridiculous! They had every color of the rainbow plus some. When i sat down for my pedicure I was given a menu of pedicure options. The cheapest most basic one started at $25 and went up from there. I chose the 2nd option and was not disappointed. I will most certainly be back!! read more
