Gloss is an independent nail tech (Jessica who is truly one of the nicest people) located in a salon suites facility. If you are coming for the first time it can be hard to locate but just look for the Banana Republic store - she's right there on the 2nd floor. The location is great - plenty of parking, shopping and cafes all around. Because I'm not from CLT I relied pretty heavily on reviews in picking a place for a gel mani. I liked that you could book online, and I really liked that I was supporting an individual and I liked that the website called out disposable files, buffers etc. On the plus side, my nails look really nice. Jessica was gentler on my nails than most places are, really appreciate that. On the minus side.....files and buffers weren't new and I'm pretty sure the tools used were the same ones used on the person before me and I don't think there was cleaning in between. (I was there early enough to see the previous client leave and I know no tools were pulled from the sanitizer and I didn't see any cleaning take place). So that made me sad. I wouldn't discourage anyone from booking here but I would say be more assertive than I was about making sure tools are fresh. read more

Not sure why this place shows up as 5 star reviews. I made an appointment thinking it will live up to the hype it has received but was mistaken. To start with, i understood from the reviews that Jessica is the only nail artist that works here and when i made the appointment I expected to see her. When i get to my appointment, her assistant starts my appointment while she works on someones pedi. I feel cheated right there and then. Secondly, they have such a limited selection for SNS colors, I ran out of options and had to make do wity what was available. Thirdly, both her assistant and Jessica while doing my nails pushed my cuticles with their nails. Do they not have any tools? Plus its so unhygeinic it grossed me out. Fourthly, they dont have any machines to file the sns. They just use a nail.filer that takes forever to drill down the sns product. Overall, definitely not worth the five star review and I won't be returning specially for the reason of using nails to push cuticles. Ugh! read more

I have been going to Jessica for several months now and absolutely love her! She makes scheduling very easy through her website and always is so warm and friendly. She will chat with you if you'd like or she is perfectly comfortable with silence. It is a very relaxing environment and she even has a TV in her room if that's what you prefer. My daughter raves about it so I decided to try it, no one greeted me at the door when I finally said this was my first time and my daughter called ahead of time, she said it was a 15 minute wait. I wanted 25 minutes, no one offered me anything to drink, but as others filtered in, they were promptly greeted and offered something. My nails are longer than we discussed. Jessica has her own suite with 1 chair so you know exactly what your getting. She is very attentive and doesn't get mad if you don't like something. It is a little Tricky to find but go around to the back of Banana Republic and you'll see a staircase and elevator when you get to the 2nd floor it's the door right at the top, then look for her suite. I had the pleasure today of getting my nails done by Jessica and I am by far a happy camper. It's funny because initially I went to another another nail salon in the area that had great reviews so I actually went there first. When I got there I was asked what service I wanted and was told to have a seat. I asked if I needed to sign in or not and was told no. Keep in mind that I stood at the door for about 5 min before anyone even acknowledged me. By the way, ALL of the staff looked me in my face and NO ONE made an attempt to walk over. Anyway, when I was finally approached I had seat. As I'm sitting here there were a few people that came in after me and some of them had appointments and went ahead of me which I understood. However, there was a couple that came afterwards with no appointment and I know this because I'm sitting right by the desk and hear the entire conversation! After five minutes they were seated with a tech. After I've been about 30 minutes at this point. So I asked the lady at the front why were they seated before me she said they had an appointment I know that was bogus because I heard the entire conversation. And she never even asked their name, she never checked the computer, never checked the sign in sheet (that I never signed) and she asked what service they wanted. So needless to say I was livid and I left when I got home I decided to do a search on yelp and this is where I found Jessica. I was able to book an appointment online. When I arrived she was waiting for me. Jessica is really nice very professional very detailed oriented and had exceptional service. I will recommend anyone and everyone to book your appointment and see her. The fact that I was the only one there, it was awesome and my nails are super cute.
