Uzbegim was my boyfriend and I's introduction to Uzbeki food! We ordered a lamb skewer, butternut squash mantu, plov, black tea, and some bread. The lamb skewer was juicy and smoky; would get again! The plov had carrots, beef, quail egg, and lemon. I can tell the plov was cooking for a while and the seasonings well marinated into the rice. My only gripe was the rice was a little dry. However, would definitely get again! My boyfriend absolutely loved it. The bread was cold and dry, it was similar to as if a sourdough turned into a bread bowl. I wish they'd toasted it. The real star of the show was the butternut squash mantu. Sooo good, I would come back just for this dish! The taste of the butternut squash was fresh, sweet, and savory balanced with the acidity of the yogurt sauce. They're also 4 hefty dumplings with plenty of filling. The service initially was a bit slow. At the time they seemed like they had just opened, so I gave them benefit of the doubt. The restaurant is adorned with map of the Silk Road and facts about Uzbekistan, which was a nice read while waiting for food.

We celebrated Mother's Day early with lunch here. I didn't realize they have two dining rooms, the 2nd with larger tables for groups larger than five. Would be nice if the 2nd room had the same overhead music as the first, for ambience but it was a nice room. We ordered all kinds of things, maybe too many appetizers but we wanted to try the cold mini mezze platter, samsa trio, beef manti, and extra bread. Their special bread was not available (chef who makes it is out). A couple of people tried the soups, and bother were reported to be quite good. Dad got the salmon kebab that came with a salad he said it was fresh. We added the lamb shank instead when we learned the branzino would take 30min, and the plov. The meat was super tender, but felt the plov was on the oily side and a little bland. We definitely want to come back and try the pelmeni and kebabs, branzino, and more soups. Service was good, food came out promptly, and was of great value for the portions.

Overall: 4/5 Food: Been here about three times and I like it! It's been carrying me through this year's flu. Only my second Uzbeki restaurant I've ever tried so please read with a grain of salt! I ordered: Plov: SOOOO good. Hearty, perfect balance of sweet and savory, and I was blown away by the sweetness of the carrot and how well it paired with the rice and beef. I will say I found the beef to be a little so slightly stringy and wish they added more than one quail egg. I loved the portion size! I ate it in two meals but to be honest it was probably enough for three meals for me due to the oiliness/butteriness of the rice. I also ordered the combo which comes with a small side salad and it was well balanced, tart, and perfectly cuts through the heaviness and oiliness of the plov. Shurpa: YUMMY! Pairs so well with the plov too! Here, the beef was so tender it fell off the bone and was so yummy. Also warm, hearty, decent portion. Meat and veggies not overcooked at all and delightful flavor. Could be standalone but I highly recommend pairing with Plov. SAVED me while sick. Beef kebab: had a bite of a friends. Great! Although it only came with one skewer so portion size could've been better in my opinion. But well cook and great flavor. Not too salty or tough. Loved that it came with salad! Pistachio and avocado hummus: I've never had hummus with avocado before! I liked it and presentation was good. Came with a variety of veggies and Uzbeki naan. While hummus flavor was good and veggies were fresh, I wonder if the bread was a little on the older/stale side? Labneh: classic, I can see the Turkish influence on Uzbeki cuisine Lagman: salty, sour, not spicy, not overpowering. Also warm and hearty but not like the Plov/borsch combo I'm obsessed with. I ordered the soupy lagman and the flavor reminds me a bit of Hunan noodles. Hand pulled noodles with great texture and not overcooked, slightly tart tomato flavor, bell pepper and other veggies in the soup. Beef was a little dry in my opinion. Service: they're a small restaurant and I think on the newer side so please be prepared for slower service! But professional and homey. Esp with ambiance being smaller place $$: very affordable for sf! If you want you can get a full meal for $10 but they have fancier full on kebab boards for family which is on the bucket list for me to try Hard to find uzbeki food in sf. But they do it well and I'll be back!

We came with reservations for a party of nine and were promptly seated upon arrival. We went for dinner on a Saturday night, and there were plenty of tables available for walk-ins if needed. I mention this because some of their "must-try" dishes were already out of stock, even though it was still early in the evening and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. We ordered a good variety of dishes, but unfortunately none of the starters were anything memorable. If I were to come back, I'd order the tandoori samsa and the NY steak separately rather than getting the family-style platter. While the platter was better than the rest of what we tried, it wasn't worth the $180 price point. You're better off ordering individual items instead. The steak was super tender and flavorful, and I loved how the mushrooms soaked up all the flavors. Everything else was just okay, with some meats leaning on the drier side. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, but if I do, I hope their signature dishes are actually available next time.

Went here with two friends for dinner - left full and satisfied without breaking the bank. We started with some beef samsas- at $4 each, they're a steal. Super flavorful, flaky, and delicious. They then shared family style for the dips, Qovurma Lagman, Plov, Layered Bread, and Pelmeni. The layered bread was sooo fun to eat. Lots of layers, texture, and flavor. Great for scooping. I'd recommend getting with the dips as the dip doesn't come with much bread. The Plov tasted great but wish it came with a bit more meat. The Pelmeni are sooo sooo tasty. Like mini dumplings full of beef and onion flavor. And I really enjoyed the Qovurma Lagman- lots of meat, veggies, and noodles! Service was fine- they were friendly and came with water and napkins as I needed them! Will definitely be back

If you're looking to try authentic Uzbek cuisine at very reasonable prices, this place couldn't be a better choice.

UPDATE: 11/3/25 They never refunded the $5 I was overcharged; rounding down to 3 stars. -- 3.5 STARS Central AZNs are HANGRY for a taste of home. And, Uzbegim couldn't have chosen a better location. While there's a small population of Central AZNs, it's my understanding that many live nearby in Outer Richmond. Visited on a weekday after a nearby appointment - they were hella busy with dine in and takeout orders before noon. SO come early to avoid a long wait. Uzebegim opened to the public on 10/20/25 and I believe were only open to friends & fam before that. Indoor dining and takeout available. M E N U Uzbek cuisine is a blend of Russian, Chinese, Persian, and Turkic cuisine. Most dishes feature rice, noodles, and meat. Only a fraction of the menu was available, see pics. F O O D * Samsa ($4 x5): https://tinyurl.com/mrxm2nry A staple app in Uzbek cuisine, samsa is a baked flaky pastry filled with meat and onions. Bought one for dine-in and four for a friend. I don't know if I received a leftover samsa that was reheated (heard microwave dings) but the flaky dough was tough and chewy. Generous amount of savory beef and onion filling tho. Served with a mild tomato sauce for dipping. * Plov: Pilaf w/ beef, carrots, zig'ir oil ($17): https://tinyurl.com/5y77j8xn - I was told no lamb available The national dish of Uzbekistan, Plov is a rice pilaf with meat, carrots, barberries, raisins, chickpeas, onions, and spices. Traditionally, a rich and hearty dish. Uzebegim's rendition was too oily and underseasoned...and this is from someone who thinks FAT = FLAVOR. I would have preferred more cumin, coriander, and salt to balance the sweetness of the carrots and raisins. The slab of braised beef was stringy. One quail egg included. S E R V I C E Polite but they're def trying to figure things out so come with patience. They don't provide an itemized bill and after requesting a receipt, I noticed I was charged $5 for the side salad I received but didn't order (I was told they will refund me $5 so we'll see). They watch as you denote a tip on the handheld POS which is hella awkward. A M B I A N C E Cozy space with nine tables. P A R K I N G Difficult street parking. Overall, I've only had Uzbek cuisine a handful items so I'm no expert. Uzbegim's regional style just wasn't my jam but that's a me issue. There's only two Uzbek restos in the city so no doubt Uzbegim will be very popular. Three stars for the food, adding .5 stars and rounding up because it's hard to find Uzbek food in the bay.

Ever find a place to be...lacking hospitality to new faces in a restaurant?…read more Let's talk about the service first. We came on a Friday night and there were 2-3 other tables. Our server did not give us a breakdown of any dish, or even the categories on the menu (which by the way, are in Russian). They kinda expected us to "know" everything on the menu. My wife and I ended up googling EVERYTHING, and deciding on what to eat after reading other yelp reviews and what the dishes looked like. After taking a good 10mins of googling and figuring out what to order, we had to raise our hand several times, to a point where we had to call our waiter over vocally and with a hand wave to take our order. The restaurant really isn't big with only 2 other tables being occupied, and I guess locals do come here often and chat with the servers, but we're talking a good extra 5min of not looking at a menu and just waiting. People are raving about the service but I personally just didn't experience the same kind of hospitality. We ordered a borsch, a beef stroganoff, and a viennese schnitzel. I wouldn't say the food came out slow, but it was at the pace of a homecooked meal. The borsh tasted a lot better than ones I've had, and the sour cream was very creamy and fresh. The beef stroganoff was the star of the show with how flavorful and creamy it was. The beef was very tender, and the kasha was especially good. It's definitely enough to fill one person up. The viennese schnitzel is basically a fried pork cutlet (like a katsu) but with different seasonings and paired with some kind of red sauce. The mashed potatoes...were just mashed potatoes. The portion felt a little small for the price for what you get, pork cutlet and mashed potatoes being $27. I can see how authentic this place is, but being tucked so far away in Richmond naturally gets it lower foot traffic than other more accessible spots. The food is delicious and if people are willing to take their grandparents here, then you know it's authentic. I just wish the service was more attentive. The portions to price ratio was also pretty low, and I left feeling a little hungry despite spending $75 before tax and tip for 2. This place is feels more geared to reminiscing a childhood flavor with the family over a date night IMO.

Everything I tried was delish! Cheese & Dill Chebureki: Unlike anything I've had before and I've had a lot of savory filled dough things! The cheese is stretchy and salty and delicious. The fresh dill is a perfect herbal contrast to all that richness. The dough is light and airy and crispy, just fried to order. Also nice with that red sauce that comes on the side Potato & Onion Piroshki: Another deep fried dough pastry. More dough and more filling than the chebureki. Kinda felt like Italian fried dough. Though the filling was definitely not Italian, with subtle smooth potatoes and caramelized onions. Surprisingly light for deep fried. Lamb Samsa: A flaky baked dough with dense bits of lamb inside. The dough on the bottom was particularly dense and hard. Wasn't crazy about the texture, but the taste was solid. Lamb Pigodi: Essentially a giant steamed dumpling, cut open and stuffed with shredded carrot salad. It was difficult to eat with the plastic spork provided. That aside, it had nicely spiced minced lamb filling and lots of thick dough outside. Shashlik Wrap: Fluffy pita bread made by them, not from a plastic bag. Lots of fresh veggies and herbs. The onions and carrot slaw give a nice tang. Plus skewers of lamb for that nice pita combination. The lamb came on skewers, so you had to pull it off. Didn't seem grilled to order, but was probably grilled a tad earlier in the day.
