This is the most underrated stop in all of Noe! Highly recommend their chicken kebab plate and their falafel plate. The baba ghanoush is especially delicious with the falafel. The salads are super fresh and crispy, too, and love their pickled veg add ons - not just the typical after thought side salad; I actually eat it all. Their rice is so yummy and their chicken is juicy and not overcooked. They have dog and kid friendly outdoor seating (both covered and not covered). They also have a nice bathroom that's always clean. Staff is so friendly and kind and always remember me. They also do takeout! Do you ever do this thing? You're waiting for the 48 at the corner of 24th & Castro Streets in Noe Valley, and you want to eat, but you don't feel like The Little Chihuahua or Subs Inc. or that breakfast place that keeps changing its name, but the bus isn't coming for a while because it's a federal holiday and Muni is running a Sunday schedule even though it's a Tuesday, so you really feel like walking east on 24th because you're in the mood for a stroll and it's a holiday so people are out, but you're also unsure of where you'll find a nice and cheap enough place to eat, because Noe Valley is famous for replacing nice neighborhood restaurants and cafes with overpriced froufrou places that you'd never be caught dead in, so you debate and walk and walk and debate, and you're annoyed with yourself because you do this all the time, and why can't you just make a decision? Then you happen upon Mesopotamia Kitchen, and you order and sit down and enjoy your food, although it's overpriced and really really messy, but you predicted that, and you like it more and more as you continue your jaunt down 24th, literally, because the street is starting to go downhill, and you decide to walk all the way to the Mission because you've done this out of late-bus necessity before. You never do that? Lucky for you, because I do this kind of thing all the time, and it drives me crazy. Food is good, people are nice. Ambiance is on the meh side of fancy or the fancy side of meh; you be the judge. It's a nice place to eat on a carefree day off from work. Visited this restaurant today for the second time . The first time I did not leave a review but my experience is the same . I ordered something as before . here's my take: they have a nice ambiance with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff was super professional. I ordered the babaganoish and combo gyro plate, but the service was a bit off - they brought both dishes at the same time, which didn't work for me. By the time I finished my appetizer, the main course was already cold. The portions were super small, especially considering the price point. I was expecting more for my money, especially since I've had bigger portions at other places for the same price. The chicken was a bit dry and salty, which wasn't great. Also, the plate should've come with bread, and the babaganoush should've had its own bread - they only brought one bread portion. Despite all this, I'm willing to give it another shot and try something else, so I'll update my review after that. Lamb Gyro Plate: This is a very substantial portion with lots of delicious crispy bits of meat. It came with a nice salad, rice pilaf, and hummus. Just a solid, balanced, and affordable meal. Friendly staff, delicious food, and good service. I ordered the Lamb Shish Kebab Plate It came with red cabbage and leafy greens, lamb, rice, and hummus. The pita bread, which came toasted complement the meal very well. For my drink, I ordered the Canada Dry Ginger Ale. A great refresher! Fast casual mediterranean spot in Noe Valley! I had the lamb beef gyro wrap which came wrapped in lavash with some lettuce, tomato, and red onion inside. The wrap looks skinny but goes a long way! I was completely stuffed afterwards. I did wish there was a little more complexity in flavor - it was all pretty salty and I was looking for something acidic to cut the saltiness. I squeezed some of the lemon from the dolmas plate to make up for it. I also wish there was more veg in the wrap for extra freshness. The dolmas were a little pricey for an order of 4. They also had a slight alcoholic taste? The aftertaste and filling were both great, but the initial bite was slightly off. I probably wouldn't get these again. I'm curious to come back and try the vegetarian gyro wrap though! I also liked being able to order at the counter and have the food ready within ~10 mins. If I'm ever craving mediterranean food in Noe again, I would stop by here. read more

For the longest time, I always had the impression that Noe Valley was one of the tougher neighborhoods in SF to find a parking space. So, when one of my friends moved out here, I always felt relieved when he would suggest meeting up elsewhere in the city. What little did I know, though - finding a spot around here is actually super easy (at night, anyways). Which, ironically enough, makes me regret not offering to come out here instead. If I had, then I would've discovered Mesopotamia Kitchen that much earlier! Admittedly, from the outside, there wasn't much about this place that grabbed my attention. However, after hearing about how it quickly became one of my buddy's go-to eateries, I was immediately intrigued. After taking a look at their extensive menu board inside, I could see why! Despite how the majority of the menu isn't especially unique, there's no shortage of enticing options to choose from - wraps, plates, mussaka, dolmas, shakshuka, spanakopita, salads, soups, desserts, and so much more. Plus, they have a good mix of proteins to choose from too, whether it be your usual sort of beef, lamb, and chicken gyros and kebabs to kofte kebab, adana kebab, or iskender kebab. -- COMBO GYRO WRAP - Lamb-Beef and Chicken Gyro with Garlic Sauce, Salad, and Tahini Sauce wrapped in Lavash Bread...$13.95 As good as this looked, the taste was just okay. The portion was great (fries are included!), but the gyros were a miss for me. Despite how moist both gyros meats were, the marinade they use had an aftertaste to it. Still, it wasn't awful, though, and I really like the fries and how fresh the veggies were. -- COMBO SHISH KEBAB - Chicken Kebab and Lamb Kebab with Rice, Salad, Hummus, and Pita...$18.95 I don't always have the best luck with kebabs, but this was terrific! Plus, the consistency wasn't chunky either. -- KOFTE WRAP - Grilled Ground Lamb and Beef Patties with Garlic Sauce, Salad, and Tahini Sauce wrapped in Lavash Bread...$13.95 This was far more successful than the combo gyro wrap - the kofte was so juicy and flavorful! What's more, the seasoning in the kofte was soaked up by the lavash and nicely balanced out by the veggies. Delish! -- SALMON PLATE - Flavored Grilled Salmon Served with Rice, Salad, Hummus, and Pita...$20.95 Even though the color/look of the salmon seemed really pale, this was pretty solid. It was grilled nicely and the center was moist, but I have to admit the deliciously complementary flavors form the lemon and herb sauce really boosted this dish. Also, while I obviously didn't expect service to be bad, I also didn't necessarily expect the workers to be so friendly either! In particular, the woman (owner?) that works the register is ridiculously nice. She warmly greets everyone that walks in and she's really attentive, always keeping an eye out for what folks might need (even the ones sitting outside in their parklet). Between that and how solid the food is, Mesopotamia Kitchen has worked its way into my rotation of go-to eateries as well! I go to this place all the time. It's a bit more expensive (by a dollar or two) than some of the more "greasy spoon" places, but the quality and taste of the food here is top notch. It's informal, with only a few unadorned tables, but the food tastes like a more substantial and refined eating experience than the interior would suggest. I HIGHLY recommend the Falafel Plate, the Vegetable Skewers, the Chicken Skewers (my family likes those, i'm veggie), and the Falafel Wrap. The rice is great, the hummus is really good, the veggies are made to order and have a great grilled taste. The rest of the food looks great, and it does a brisk takeout business. This, and Truly Mediterranean are my favs locally for quick and healthy Mediterranean lunches, and they're different from one another- this one is the one that is less heavy to eat, but both are great. read more

We had a variety of wraps, so babaganoush, and their greek salads. The wraps were satisfying and good sizes and came with fries. The babaganoush was good, if light on eggplant (more yogurt based). The big disappointment was the Greek salad, which was 95% romaine lettuce with maybe three olives and three pieces of cucumber and a few onions. I would pass on that next time and just stick to the meats and falafel. They have outdoor seating and the food was ready pretty quickly. I absolutely love this place! I almost always get a kebab plate because I love the combination of the grilled meat with rice, salad, and hummus with pita. It's a filling and healthy meal. My only complaint is the hummus used to be the best in town when they first opened, but I can tell they're thinning it out a little bit now so that it goes further. It's slightly watery compared to the thick hummus they had when they first opened. I still order from them all the time. The chicken kebabs are great (especially dipped in the spicy sauce) and the kofte kebab also delicious. I wish they would go back to the original hummus recipe! read more

Ok first I have to say that I'm Persian. And Persian restaurants only use the best quality meats, so everyone else's meat dishes are lesser in comparison. Try Lavash in the sunset for a truly delicious kabob experience. That said, Mesopotamian is good for a casual weekly meal with counter service and plentiful seats. I usually get the Adana Kabob which is good and has generous sides. But what makes them really stand out is the delicious side dishes. It can be found right on 24th Street in Noe Valley. The staff are really accommodating and they have a big parklet in the front so you can people watch while eating. I have to admit I liked the former name of this spot better (Sultan's Kebab) even though the current name is probably more culturally and historically correct. But my ignorance of the Middle East gravitates toward flying carpets, magic lamps you rub, Disney cartoons, and the Three Stooges ("Maha?" "Aha!"). Yes, politically wrong I know. But the food served here seems culinarily right. I wanted to keep it light - or at least 'lighter' - so I kept focusing on the Appetizers section of the overhead menu. I settled on the $6.95 Shakshuka and waited outside on their terrace hoping I'll be able to hear my order number. As luck would have it, the server was kind enough to come outside and serve my plate. I always pass by this spot on 24th and decided to give it a try with a friend for dinner. There's not too much seating inside, but enough since there wasn't a lot of foot traffic when we went. The menu is simple and they executed everything well. My brother and I stopped in to try some wraps. We ordered the lamb and beef wrap, and the falafel wrap. The cashier was friendly and let us know our order would take about ten minutes to whip up. We took our orders to go, and they held up nicely on the walk back to my place. My brother enjoyed his beef lamb wrap and I also enjoy my falafel wrap. Bonus is it came with fries! I would have enjoyed the wrap even more if it had a bit more hummus or even tzatziki to make it less dry. I was looking for a good place that serves kabab and I found it near by in Noe Valley. I must of walked by this place various times and I finally stopped and went inside. I order the Mediterranean mix kebab plate and it was delicious but wish they had added more rice and more hummus. The chicken kebab was juicy but the lamb kebab was my favorite. The lamb was tender and not gamey at all. I enjoyed the salad and pita. A good place to enjoy a good plate of kebabs. read more

A very average at best place for Mediterranean. I was able to use my DoorDash gift card, the order was ready on time for my pick up window, and it was in a convenient location. Otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to get a meal here. FYI - They didn't check for proof of vaccination (October 2021). THE COST $47.67 for a disappointing meal for two. Overpriced. I guess we're mostly paying for the Noe Valley real estate. THE FOOD Overall, their rice is soggy. The pita bread is soft and fluffy but tastes stale. Their meat and their falafel are consistently dry. They skimp like crazy on the hummus - it was barely enough to go with our plates. And the salad with the generic thousand island dressing was sad. After 18 months of dealing with our new normal my eyes see everything through a lens of "blah". Little seems exciting and those things that have an air of excitement also come partnered with a healthy dose of fear. I found myself in the City, wanting to treat myself to lunch, a small celebration for a job well done doing something I'd last done more than 1.5 years earlier. Mesopotamia Kitchen was that celebration. With its wall mounted menu lacking any explicit descriptors and charmless outdoor seating area with 4 small tables, Mesopotamia Kitchen seems not to be a place one would go to celebrate but when one samples the food one begins to think differently. My Falafel Plate ($12.95) was far prettier than I anticipated, very fresh, and plated with genuine care for the presentation. None of that matters if the food is subpar but this plateful held the bar aloft. Frankly, it was 100% delicious and I ate every last bite. Fresh, hot falafel, babaganoush, hummus, high quality pita, a really good salad, and - who doesn't like more dipping sauces? - an unanticipated dollop of one more sauce, origins unknown. I would happily return to Mesopotamia Kitchen for a future celebration or even just a hunger pang. read more
