Chicken Wrap
Lanya L.

Ordered the chicken wrap, it was really nice looking but lacked flavor. The chicken was overdone, so a bit disappointing. The restaurant was really cute though, might be open to going back and trying something else out.

Avgolemono Soup

Always a pleasant surprise to find weekend happy hours! Happy Hour menu available from 3-5 pm on weekends as well with food options in addition to drink discounts. I enjoyed the house red on the happy hour, which was a Syrah. From the happy hour menu we had the Mezze plate which was humongous and came with hummus and tzatziki, you could dip with either the soft pita bread, or crunchy red, bell pepper or cucumber strips. Also tried the Avgolemono soup - I always enjoy a hearty chicken and rice soup, and this one is definitely for fans of lemon forward flavoring. The Kale salad was great as well - I liked the generous amounts on crispy onions by the huge shareable salad. The Lamb gyro was really tender and flavorful - a bit to oregano forward for me , but my husband loved it . Service was average. Loved the al fresco dining in downtown Noe valley

Dolores Omelette (smoked salmon, goat cheese, mushrooms, scallions)
Maria W.

Came here for weekend brunch with a friend, and had a pretty good experience! The food was good, the location is nice and right in the middle of Noe Valley, and there are both indoor and outdoor (with heating) seating options. But perhaps due to the busyness of the day, the service was a bit slow for ordering/takeout box requests/bill and no mid-meal check-ins. Also, prices were on the steeper side, though I guess pretty typical for SF. I ordered the Dolores Omelette (comes with smoked salmon, goat cheese, mushrooms, scallions). The salmon was good, but along with the goat cheese just not really my taste for an omelette. I'd get something else next time, but make sure to get the potatoes--probably the best part of the meal. My friend's favorite part of her meal was the side of chicken sausage, which she said was juicy and perfectly glazed on the outside.

Lamb Bolognese

In the Noe Valley neighborhood of SF lies Novy, a fantastic modern Greek restaurant with a laid back vibe and delicious food. The surrounding area allows for decent parking options and the walk over no matter where you are is nice since the area itself is quaint. The interior is nice and modern although we opted to sit outside and enjoy the weather a bit. The staff was very friendly and on top of things, clearly making sure that we were happy and content with our food. Speaking of food, it was great. We ordered appetizers of grilled halloumi and fried calamari, both of which were great but with the halloumi's rich and savory flavor really standing out. After that we ordered the lamb bolognese, which again was fantastic. The thick noodles had a great chew and the bolognese was savory and had a great contrast to the feta sprinkled throughout. The portion was also pretty decent making sure we felt full by the time we left. We also ordered their flourless chocolate cake to go which we ate later and it was delicious. Overall, the meal was just great and the setting brought it up another notch. This is just a great restaurant flat out and we would say reckons a serious try if you're in the surrounding area of SF.

Moussaka

Grabbed a quick dinner on my way out of town, and this was a great place to try! Novy seems to be another, not so hidden gem in San Francisco in Noe Valley. I was able to make a quick reservation. The seating host graciously greeted me and seated me at a comfy booth. So much deliciousness on the menu, but I decided to try the moussaka! A delicious dish of ground lamb, eggplant, potato, and béchamel sauce. If you've never tried it the best way to think about it is Greek lasagna. Absolutely tasty! I opted to forgo the side salad, and I wanted to try the sweet potato fries. What's one more carb with dinner?! Everything was delicious, the place was super packed and it definitely impacted the quality of service. Maybe they were shortstaffed? Definitely a place worth trying, and when I'm back in the city, like to go back and try some other other dishes.

I met my youngest son in San Francisco for a special dinner (for my Birthday) and we chose NOVY in the Noe Valley neighborhood. We were fortunate to get even any dining space as we did not make reservations (not to self - next time do it). We sat at a counter and had a great meal. I ordered the Lamb Gyro along with a Pilsner and my son ordered their Pesto Pasta. After a few minutes of conversation (it was not too loud even though the restaurant was full and busy), our dinners arrived - my Gyros was a fresh pita willed with thin-sliced roasted leg of lamb accompanied by lettuce, tomato, grilled onion and of course tzatziki sauce, with garlic fries on the side. My son enjoyed his pasta dish with fresh shaved parmesan on top. We were tempted to try something for desert and ordered their Galaktoboureko to share. I had never heard of this desert but it sounded good on the menu, and it was! It's made from Phyllo Pastry with Semolina Custard Filling, a Huckleberry Compote, and Almonds on the top. It was just the right sweetness and perfect to share after a filling meal. I look forward to returning to NOVY in the future to try some of their other dishes. Parking in Noe Valley (like much of the busy neighborhoods in the city) can be a challenge. We parked a few blocks away and walked in - I do enjoy walking down 24th street with a number of interesting shops.

24th Scramble!
Alexandra N.

We came here on a Sunday at 10am and there was only one more table in the restaurant, so reservations at that time are not needed. It did start picking up in foot traffic closer to 11/11:30, though. My friends and I got our own dishes, which they told me were good. I got the 24th st scramble with potatoes and honestly those potatoes were one of the best potatoes I've had at a brunch. The spicing that they made them with was SO delicious. One of my friends, who is from the Mediterranean area, got the lamb Benedict and he said the lamb was really good. So if you like lamb, give that a try! I'd come back here again, but next time might try the lunch!

Kale Salad with chicken, side of fries, carafe of spritz

It was such a nice day to sit outside! The salad was delicious and drinks were great. I'd definitely go back as we only went for a quick drink and snack before the Super Bowl and I'd love to try some of their other items.

Lamb Gyro
Tiffany C.

Came here on a Saturday for 2 people at noon! No wait and fast service. Plenty of seating outside and ordered 2 dishes and an Aperol spritz. Both dishes came out fast and were delicious. The lamb gyro was full of flavor and had lots of veggies and meat. The Huevos rancheros was large and the tortilla was still crunchy. I'd come here again!

I love that this is a family-owned, women-owned local restaurant. That alone made me excited to try it. I met friends here for dinner and the whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. The service was fantastic and the food was truly delicious. We ordered the seafood pasta, the pesto pasta, and the grilled salmon, and everything was perfectly portioned and full of flavor. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared and very satisfying. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, which makes it a nice option for different moods and weather. We did not have time to try dessert because we were heading to a show, but I was happy to see there was a gluten-free option on the menu, which gives me another reason to come back. This is a great place to meet friends for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. I will definitely be returning.

Absolutely delicious brunch service (I was on a mission to find lamb during Easter). This was my first time dining in NOE and wow such a cute area to walk around first and foremost (especially after eating). Our server was very friendly and attentive, lamb eggs Benedict was delicious, bloody Mary's were pretty good. Will definitely return!

Omelette

Stopped in for brunch after doing a candle making activity nearby. Fantastic service and the food was delicious. Love the dark wood tones on the walls. I had an omelette with a side salad that was healthy and yummy!

Shrimp Pasta
Alyssa S.

Just walking by and decided to try this place. We ate outside. Me and my sister ordered shrimp pasta and calamari salad to share since we weren't that hungry. Staff is very nice and attentive. Individual heating lamps outside over table even tho it was a beautiful night and we didn't need them. Great sister dinner

Happy hour

Thoughts going through my head "how can this taste so good," "I wasn't expecting this tonight," "this is the most tender gyro meat I've ever had," "how nicely this sauce pairs with the rice." Service was so friendly. Walked in for Friday dinner cus it's try a new restaurant night. Surprised it was empty. They got quite a bit of takeout orders but no one eating in there. Only the workers in there. Was greeted immediately with a smile. Wasn't sure if I had to order then seat myself or politely ask to get a table first. Sometimes it's confusing at some places, I didn't want to be weird. Asked for a table then server brought menus to us. But the next person who walked in just ordered and paid right away at the cashier then sat down. So I don't know. I wasn't given water with my sit down meal. Cus I ordered the food without mentioning water, so it must be one of those don't ask don't get kinda things. As requested. FOOD: *lamb & beef gyro plate: what is this goodness! Meat is so tender. How nicely it sits on top of this rice. Pour some tzatziki sauce over both and eat it. Delightful. Comes with a side of seasoned tomato much like a salsa consistency. There was a red liquid salsa sauce too on this plate so you can pick what you want to dip your meat into *hummus with chicken kabob: o what now this is something new I haven't tried! Delicious! The garbanzo beans are blended enough that the hummus is completely smooth. Good salty flavor. Comes with triangle pieces of bread oops I mean pita to dip. I slathered the hummus all over my pita. Pita was swimming in hummus. Why not, cus they give you plenty of hummus in that bowl. How many times did I shout "delicious" throughout and after this meal. Maybe 4 times. Am I talking to myself or to my friend. Doesn't matter. Sangria available in glass, half, and full size So clean inside. Got that new restaurant feel.

I've only had the falafel burger and the falafel plate, and both were delicious. The fries are also…read morereally good. As a takeout place, Gyros and Tzatziki normally gets four stars, but as a restaurant, it's definitely three stars, and I'll tell you why. This place needs better management. Failing that, one of the three guys who is normally working when I come needs to take charge, because the current setup isn't working. You order at the counter, which is common at many San Francisco restaurants. One of the three guys will help you, but sometimes, one of them is just sitting or standing a few feet away from the cash register, but he won't acknowledge your presence. It's as if only people who will actually take your order are allowed to speak to you. Once you do (eventually) place your order, you're in for a wait. If you're eating in, that's all right, because the food is definitely worth the wait, and the small seating area is normally comfortable. If you're taking it to go, however, they refuse to say anything about where to be while waiting. I normally just sit down at an empty table because I know it will be awhile, but when I stand, I always feel like I'm in someone's way. When they're busy, not only does your food take forever to come out, but the service just goes out the window. Again, only three guys working, including the chef, but why does one of the remaining two guys always seem to be so stand-around-looking-dumb lazy? And the funny part is that it's not always the same guy; the one I used to think was a hard worker was sitting in a chair near the back last time I came. It was like he was in a timeout; he wasn't looking at his phone, just yelling random things to the cook occasionally while the other poor guy had to deal with four different parties eating in, plus all the to-go orders. So order it to go before you arrive. Or sit down and try to figure out what's going on.

But recently, I wanted to eat at Sohn, and the line was horrendous due to a special pop up event. So, there was Souvla, just next door, and I needed lunch fast. I decided to give it a try after several years hiatus. I got the Chicken Salad, which had kale for the main leaves, Shaved Fennel, Navel Orange, Pickled Red Onion, Pea Shoots, Mizithra Cheese. I did like how the chicken came nice and warm. I saw others getting the fries and potatoes, and thought dang I should've gotten some too. However, at the end of my salad, I was satisfyingly full. This location is on the cuter side compared to what I remembered in Hayes Valley location. They have a variety of bar style individual tables, regular bar seating, regular tables, and communal tables. I liked how this location had high ceilings, matched with very large windows, cascading light into the restaurant. The service was prompt. It was a decent lunch, better than I had remembered in past years. I really just wish they had some grain/rice dish on their menu.

The menu was short and sweet; since I was in the mood for bread, I ordered the chicken wrap (vs. the salad). Our food was brought to our table almost instantly. I was a bit intimidated by the gigantic wrap in front of me, but once I tasted my first bite of the lemony rotisserie chicken, I suddenly understood why everyone raves about Souvla. The creamy yogurt sauce, pickled onion, and sweet orange slices gave the wrap an elevated feel. The pita was a bit tough and hard to cut and chew, but it did its job in holding everything together. Next time, I will try the salad for comparison and make sure that I save room to try the frozen Greek yogurt.
