This was an overall decent experience. Limited street parking. Next door to a neighborhood market which was cute. In my opinion, the beef shawerma plate had too much sauce all over the meat. The fries were freshly made but mushy/oily. They don't have fountain sodas but you have canned sodas and bottles to purchase. I would recommend for a quick bite if you are craving mediterranean food. Staff was really nice. read more

Taboun - shawerma plate (too much sauce for me) - Middle Eastern Near Me - San Francisco, California

Taboun is a great no-frills, local Mediterranean spot. Perfect for a casual meal or takeout. The falafel was excellent, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and generously coated in sesame seeds, which added extra texture and nuttiness. The tahini was very flavorful & well-seasoned. The hummus was fresh, smooth, and oily in the best way. Nothing fancy here, just solid, comforting Mediterranean food done well. A dependable neighborhood option when you want something satisfying and unfussy. read more

Stopped off after picking up meds at Walgreens across the street but feeling a little under the weather and not very hungry. Saw the bus would be a little wait so stopped in to get a light dinner so I could go home and rest. Eggplant and pickles were tasty but not sure if there was much hot sauce or maybe it's just my stuffed nose. Everyone was friendly although maybe they were working on some paperwork this night. Will have to come back and try the chicken shawarma sometime. read more

Taboun - Falafel plate - Middle Eastern Near Me - San Francisco, California

I enjoy visiting Taboun for a quick lunch or dinner. Their vegetarian entrees are tasty. I appreciate the kindness of the staff every time I arrive. Ordered through Yelp for pick-up this time and was slightly disappointed with the falafel was not even warm. (previously the falafels were fried right in front kitchen and served perfectly cooked and hot). I suggest order at the counter upon arrival and wait for the meal for dine-in. They have a lovely dining space. My partner was not impressed by the chicken shwerma wrap... I will return to try again. Thank you. read more

Taboun was great! Perfect for takeout or a casual dinner. The lamb was excellent - very tender and flavorful. It's been sometime since I last visited. Taste is still legit, portion has shrank.. yes inflation, but as a consumer I am not so sure I am happy with my portion. Stomach still feeling little empty after my meal. Nice and clean place to sit down for a meal in the neighborhood. read more

I walked into this quiet spot for lunch after a long morning at the hospital. I was happy to see they had Chicken Shawarma on the menu. The restaurant was quiet around 2 PM, and I could see the meat cooking behind the counter. I was excited to taste it! I ordered the Shawarma with a fizzy mineral water. The chicken wasn't as tasty as I hoped, though. It needed more seasoning, and didn't have the strong flavors I expected from Shawarma. On the bright side, it wasn't tough, and there were lots of fresh veggies in the wrap like cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. There were also some pickles which added a nice tang. But for $14, I was expecting a lot more flavor. It's a bit too much money for a meal that didn't wow me. I don't think I'd go back for the Chicken Shawarma. The place was nice, and the service was fast, but the food just didn't match up to the price. read more

I ordered the beef and lamb shawirma plate with hummus and salad, to go, and it was so yum! It was also huge. I wish there was a bit more sauce (I'm a sauce gurl) on the rice and meat but overall pretty good. It also comes with a side of yummy warm pita. I also got some falafels and they were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, delicious! This lasted me a couple meals. read more

We had a fabulous luncheon today and everything was delicious!!! It's a rarity to find a place that makes fresh falafels!!! Actually they make everything fresh!! The place is so charming and the owners are very welcoming. We ordered almost everything and everything thing was perfect I wish the photos were better but we couldn't wait to dive right in. Portions are very generous. We had the lamb & beef shiskabobs over rice, the hummus, bobaganush, dolmas, tabouli, falafels, chicken shawarma wrap along with their home made hot sauce. 5 stars on my order for pick-up! Ready right on time. Ordered Chicken shwarma wrap, Veggitarrian Combo comes with hummus, babaganoosh, cucumber Salad, taboule, pita, falafel, grape leaves: so good! I ordered extra falafel & hummus to go with the Shwarma wrap dinner. Dinner for two people and leftovers also! Great quality, great food. read more

Taboun - Chicken Shwarma. Vegetarian combo with pita bread. Extra falafel & hummus side. - Middle Eastern Near Me - San Francisco, California

Overpriced for what you get. Food was average at best and took forever to arrive. The only reason it's not 1 star is because the cocktails were decent. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Had a chicken shawarma wrap here and it was solid. Chicken was reasonably moist. Pretty standard stuff. I prefer a yogurt based sauce myself, but this one was maybe tahini? Either way, it still did the job of moistening. read more

I came here for lunch yesterday with my best friends & was pleasantly surprised! One of them recommended this spot but since he hadn't been here for a few years we were worried it wouldn't be as good. Luckily it exceeded our expectations! It's a smaller place and a little pricer but the portions are definitely worth it! I ordered the beef shish kebab with Taboun salad & falafel. They accidentally gave me baba ghanouj instead so ended up giving me some falafel on the side. I didn't mind and it would've been okay if they didn't give me the falafels but really appreciated that Jose went above and beyond to correct it. My best friends ordered the lamb-beef shawarma plate & the lamb shish kebab plate. The beef shish kebab, lamb-beef patties & the lamb shish kebab were all so good & smelled delicious! My friend said the humus was a little too sour for her. I really liked the Taboun salad because it was the perfect amount of citrus. And the falafels, omg the falafels!!! So perfectly golden brown, crispy and flavorful! I didn't try the baba ghanouj since eggplant is not my thing but my friends did say it was really good. I'll definitely have to come back since my bf loves falafels too! read more

We got the chicken shawerma plate and vegetarian combo and it was all sooo good. I wanted to try everything they had because I haven't had all of it before so I wanted to try. I also wanted to highlight the hummus because it was really good with the pita and stuffing everything in the pita. Atmosphere - Small place with a few tables for seating due to COVID. It fit our group of 4. It's a warm feeling type of place as there are paintings/murals on the walls and it was really fascinating to look at. Service - The aunties (meant in an endearing, respectful way) that were working were attentive and answered any questions that we had. They were professional and got the food out. Everything looked really good! Cost - Anywhere from $10 to $20, depends on what you get of course but a good amount of food for the price that you pay. We ended up with delicious leftovers which we ate later on. Parking - Street parking, but we walked there as we were staying in an Airbnb that was close by. And then it was easy to take the bus from there, there was a bus stop there as well. I would definitely eat here again for the food and atmosphere! read more

Ordered veg plate and chicken shawarma bow. Both were very good and portions were large. Pickup was fast and easy.

I'm from San Diego but I've tried Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Sweden, Finland, and probably more. This was hands down the best chicken shawarma sandwich I've ever had. Every ingredient tasted fresh and perfectly complimentary to the rest of the ingredients. Not too much bread, not too much vegetable, and just the right amount of extra flavor from the hot sauce. I tried a piece of falafel as well, and this also is some of the best I've ever had. It's almost close to Indian aloo tiki, with a sharp, crunchy crust and a well-spiced mix in the middle that doesn't taste too strongly of herbs or oil. The women who own the restaurant were friendly and helpful, and they run a good store. The interior is small without being cramped, and I love the mural. I don't live here, but I would absolutely shove my friends toward it if I get the opportunity again. read more

I don't like the .75 surcharge to use credit or debit card when the food is already SO expensive. The prices keep rising and rising, prob why foot traffic slowed down. $20 for kabob plate Also, the lady did not wash her hands making my falafel wrap. She came straight from touching front door handle, prepared my food and cashier. read more

The have tabbouleh salad MMMM!!! The lamb-beef Shawarma was delicious and fresh and huge. I was already full when I got here but it tasted so good I just couldn't stop eating. The only thing I didn't like was the falafel it was a little dry and slightly bland. The dipping sauce helped and was flavorful. The had a tahini sauce and a yogurt sauce for dipping the falafel and they were both quit tasty. The young women running the counter and grill were friendly and courteous and did an excellent job making our meals. read more

Taboun - Beef-Lamb shawarma with tabouli salad and falafel - Middle Eastern Near Me - San Francisco, California

Been going here for almost 16 years. Incredible place. The falafel is consistently the best in the city! Occasionally the meat is very hard and unpleasant to eat. That has happened maybe 2-3 times in all these years. Today we got the chicken shish tawook and it was tender. I really love how reliable this spot is, the fact that it is family run, and been around so long. Hope it never leaves us. read more

In awe of the size of that dolma wrap. Stuffed with 2 falafel balls on request too, that entire hunk is a fair bit to stomach. Even before taking a bite, just the smell tells you its done its time on the grill and the bread is going to be nice and crispy. The place also has some charitable causes it supports, looking at a couple of the posters, and it's only a few blocks from Cole st, away from the gaggle of those fine dining spots. read more

I am ashamed to say I have lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years and have never tried this restaurant. WOW have my eyes been opened. I have had the Beef Kabob wrap several times now. My wife loves the eggplant wrap and the Hummus she says is fantastic. I generally do not review or recommend places to people because tastes for food vary so much. I would strongly recommend TABOUN to anyone that likes outstanding food and doesnt mind being called honey a lot (LOL). They are really great people and deliver great food Thanks read more

I ordered a chicken kabob wrap and it was fantastic. The chicken was breast meat, grilled to perfection and very flavorful. The wrap was made with fresh lavash, filled with veggies, delightful pickles and the hot sauce I requested. Really, really fresh and flavorful! I am so grateful this place is near my home! Excellent, efficient, well-priced mediterranean takeout. Generous portions and super friendly staff - and it's family owned. We go here multiple times a month and it always makes me happy. Not the ambiance for dining in but a lovely purchase experience! Just call for pick up and it's usually ready in 10. I'm a fan of their falafel especially - the falafel bowl and deluxe falafel wrap are great. The chicken and eggplant wraps are also good but I pretty much never stray from the falafel. read more
