Sumer Nights - Mix Tikka Naffer

Summer Nights is a great Mediterranean eatery. It is nicely located in Sacramento. Parking is easy…read more It is very clean and homey. It is not too large and you will be well taken care of. I have never seen it crowded, but I bet it can get crowded on the weekends. I don't know if they take reservation, so call them. We went during midweek and had no wait at all. The service is friendly and nice. They will take very good care of you. We love all their food. Some of our favorites are the juicy beef or lamb kabob. All of their soups are great. We really like the lentil soup. Their salads are great and there is something there for everyone. vegans will also love this place. Their mains are just the best. You will love it. You will feel at home here. Have fun.

As someone from an Iraqi background, I really wanted to love this place because there are so few…read moreIraqi restaurants around. I've given it multiple chances, and the food used to be amazing, but unfortunately it just hasn't met expectations consistently since then. The biggest issue is with the beef and chicken dishes. There's a very strange taste/seasoning to the meat that's hard to describe, but it tasted noticeably off to me and to every family member I've brought here. The first time we came, the meat dishes tasted like what you would expect out of kabobs from a Middle Eastern restaurant. The second time, the flavor was so off that we genuinely couldn't finish our meals. We decided to give it another chance thinking it may have just been a one-time issue, but the same strange taste was still there on our third visit. I don't know if it's the quality of meat they're using, if it's some new seasoning or marinade recipe they're using, I really cannot tell. That said, not everything was disappointing. The appetizers, lentil soup, and especially the masgouf were fantastic. Their non-beef/chicken dishes have honestly been the highlight every time we've gone, and the portions are huge and shareable. Service can be a bit inconsistent. The staff has always been kind and polite to us, but they don't really check in much unless you flag them down, and when the restaurant gets busy they seem overwhelmed. Overall, I truly wanted to rate this place higher and support an Iraqi restaurant locally, but the repeated issue with the meat dishes makes it hard to fully recommend.

What a solid, low key gem this place is! Was looking for a casual spot in the area and found this…read moreplace. From the parking lot it doesn't look like much, even from the inside it doesn't look like much. But the food, the food was the star! I ordered the classic 1/4 lb cheeseburger meal, but instead of fries I got the zucchini. The burger was a good size, the toppings were fresh, the zucchini was very tasty that they didn't even really need the side of ranch that came with them. If I'm ever back on this side of town I would certainly return, and dare I say even become a regular! Food rating Cheeseburger 8/10 Zucchini 10/10 Ambiance 3/10 Customer service 9/10

That said, the pastrami sandwich was really good. I was hoping the fried zucchini sticks were made from scratch. Unfortunately, they weren't, but this was just a first time seeing and trying experience. I'm new to the area. The Pepsi was sparkling fresh. Plus+ Plus+ in my book! The restaurant was clean. The cashier was really super nice. I appreciated that. All in all the food was delicious. What might have made the visit better: Being acknowledge through a greeting when I walked up; I stood there waiting for about 3 minutes- ready to order. The owner was standing in front of the cash register looking at a piece of equipment (a headset), but I think this prevented the cashier from taking my order, until he finished what he was doing, which didn't have anything to do with her taking my order. I'm only mentioning it because I could tell the cashier wanted to take my order, but she wasn't able to. It's just a nice acknowledgement to patrons. I KNOW he didn't do this on purpose. He was just preoccupied. Also 1/4 of my pastrami sandwich bun had no pastrami. BUT having said that, they buttered and grilled the bread, and the flavor and crispiness was PERFECT! So it kind of made up for that. I'm thinking the empty 1/4 bun was probably just oversight. As you could tell the way they prepared the food, they do a really great job in flavor and also packaging. So I definitely think it was not intentional. I spent a total of approx $26 on my visit for a combo meal plus adding on an extra large Pepsi and zucchini stick. The zucchini stick at $5.99 is a bit pricey IMO for the amount in the bag. I think it's about 8 sticks the size of a mozzarella stick. The soda $3.45 was a good price for the sparkling fresh fizz! The combo meal price at $17 upgraded was decent. I'd like to do comparison experience for pastrami and zucchini. I'm new to the area. I appreciate they gave me 3 banana peppers with my pastrami. I'd like to come back and try their cheeseburgers next time with a large Pepsi. The Pepsi rocks! You should definitely try this place. I'd suggest sticking with fries in the combo though if you're a zucchini fan like me.

As an Uzbek family originally from Tashkent, we must admit, somewhat embarrassingly, that we had not visited this restaurant serving our native cuisine until now. And before coming here, I could never have imagined that what I would see and hear would truly amaze and delight me. This feeling came within the very first moments of entering the restaurant, where lively music was playing and the famous song "Uchkuduk" performed by the band "Yalla" was playing. Along with this, there was a large artistic wall panel on the right, beautifully painted, illustrating a caravan of camels traveling through a hot desert. On the left side, there was another artwork--a fresco depicting the entrance to a caravanserai, once a resting place for traders along the Great Silk Road in ancient Samarkand, a major trading hub of its time. What impressed me most was the central part of the hall's wall, where dozens of exquisite decorative items were neatly arranged--examples of Uzbekistan's national art, craftsmanship, and traditional design. These beautifully reflect our culture and heritage, known around the world. The elegant furniture, the uniquely designed ceiling, and, of course, the glossy, mirror-like epoxy floor all perfectly complement this incredible beauty. Honestly, one feels like saying that this is not a restaurant, but a museum, where for a moment I truly felt as if I were back home in Tashkent--so cozy, familiar, and close to the heart. Now, moving on to the main impressions of our visit, especially the genuine delight of our American friends with the unique and delicious dishes we ordered. Of course, there was the famous Uzbek plov, three types of juicy kebabs, salads, samsa, manty, and two kinds of tea. After the meal, fully enjoying the outstanding flavors, our guests sincerely admitted that they had never experienced anything like this anywhere before, and promised that this restaurant would become one of their favorite places to return to again and again with friends and family. The next day, each of us, while at work--including myself--felt absolutely no hunger until returning home. What a phenomenon! A true testament to the richness and satisfying nature of Uzbek cuisine--something not often found in many other dining places in Sacramento. For all of this, and especially for the incredibly beautiful interior design that reflects both the historical depth and modern spirit of Uzbekistan, creating the impression of a "small Uzbek enclave" within California's capital -- we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the management of "Caravan Uzbek Cuisine Halal" from our small family. We wish you and your wonderful staff good health above all, and continued success in earning the appreciation and love of both your loyal and new guests, contributing to the growth and prosperity of your business. And we, your new admirers, look forward to many more visits in the future to this truly beautiful and magnificent restaurant. Amen.
