Something that they add new to menu chainaki (dezi) 10/10 must try

I entered the restaurant to a welcoming environment and a kind staff. Came close to closing time and they accommodated me past their closing time. Overall one of the best Persian/middle eastern restaurants in Sacramento. After looking through the menu I was amazed at such competitive pricing considering the portions. Overall I am recommending this restaurant to anyone who will listen

Overall great ! ( food, serving and price ) The meat weren't dry and salty and the hummus was exemplary good, Their serving is big enough for the price. Will highly recommend!

Their koobideh is probably the best I've had in the Fulton area. Very juicy, very well seasoned. I can assure you that this is a clean business and the staff are really kind and cooperative. They cook the meat thoroughly and are assistive with all of my needs. I usually don't even rate places but I went out of my way for Sactown because they are easily my top option.

PORTIONS: filling PRICE: appropriate SERVICE: counter style AMBIANCE: clean, but hot (outside temp equivalent) and sticky tables FLAVORS: Lamb shish kabob plate (4/5) Koobideh plate (5/5) BONUS TIP: the rice is already flavorful by itself but the bottom layer of rice that has soaked up the lamb shish juices ....SO GOOD

Bruh! This was the best chicken Souvlaki I've ever tasted. Hands down! Hits: -Large chunks of perfectly marinated and tender chicken. -long grain basmati rice topped with a bit of saffron rice cooked perfectly. -tzatziki's sauce on point, ordered an extra but they already give you so much you can save the extra -two wedges of slightly grilled pita , love the crisp outsides -side greek salad w peppers, cucumber, tomato, kalamata , lettuce and feta.

Excellent food, made fresh and the beef is juicy. I highly recommend this place, it does not get enough love. They also have lamb and chicken platters that are amazing.

I almost always.. feel unwelcomed? If the service was better, I'd rate this place 5 stars! I used to work in the area and visit often. I think they have one of the best juiciest Koobideh around town! Fast forward 2 years, I'm back in the area and was excited to order togo over the phone. When I arrive to pay/pick up, the lady charges me for an item that was $4 more than what I'd actually ordered. It was a quick change on the screen, so had I not seen it, I probably would've just paid the high amount. But I saw the name of the item I was being charged for, so I said something to her. She scurried to correct it and said she "needed to go into the menu a different way" (on the register) aka just trying to get one over. Since that day, I have wanted to order for lunch again but can't bring myself to. That encounter just left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunate because I enjoyed the food. I'd rather support businesses who welcome diverse customers.

05/13/2024 7:00ish pm This place is my family's favorite place to eat. We came by today as we were in the neighborhood. Love the freshness of the food in every bite. We enjoy all the flavors. We start off with our side of hummus. Husband, myself, and two teenagers, we came hungry :) we all ordered the #2 which is joojeh (chicken breast). Within 15 mins of ordering our food, it is ready. Love watching them throw our chicken kabobs on the char broil. Chicken is always perfect, nice and juicy and flavors are perfect. Maryam is a pleasure speaking with. Always so happy! Walking in and seeing her smile makes our day. We finished our meal with the baklava bites. Yummmmmm. I have also catered from them in the past for my husband's birthday. So easy, just called in a big order ahead of time, scheduled a time and I went to pick up, perfect! Restaurant is always clean, always see them wiping things down. I would highly recommend. You gotta try. Thank you guys for serving such delicious food.

Ghormeh Sabzi -5 star the best in town :)

No, they do have beef shish kabob, but no Barg. However, the Kobedeh and chicken kabobs are great and very reasonably priced. i love the Zereshk Polo itself. i think you will enjoy the food greatly. If you want Barg, you can visit the full service… Read more

Server did offer to let us choose 2 different meats for our two #41 Koobideh plates (2 beef skewers for $25), but I think we would have been better off just ordering one #61 All Koobideh plate (3 different meat skewers for $34). One plate has plenty of basmati rice for two people to share. She suggested the two #41 orders, instead of answering how much an extra order of rice would cost. Maybe you can't order a side of rice? Rice comes with each entree. By ordering the 2nd plate, she offered or included the $8 Bread Basket for no extra charge. It was my friend's birthday. I wanted to pay, and she wanted to order extra to go, so I wanted two separate bills, but it seemed too complicated to explain or disallowed. After the food was delivered to the table, server didn't check on us anymore. I guess the restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays. My friend thought all the koobideh tasted the same. I liked them in this order: 1) Lamb, 2) Chicken, and 3) Beef, but they're the same texture, so they aren't all that different. I should have ordered a different 2nd entree, instead of two Koobideh plates. The #18 Bademjan Borani eggplant appetizer was yummy. It did come with some bread, so you don't have to order the bread basket. The bread is served warm. The basmati rice was light and fluffy, but not flavorful or buttery. You can pay a $4 upgrade to switch the rice to salad or a fancier stir fried rice. Read the Vegetarian Dishes menu section to learn about the various fried rice or polo preparations. Our server suggested the Fava Bean Rice or Baghali Polo because it is a Persian New Year dish. Yelp reviewers recommended the Zereshk Polo, which includes barberries, a fruit similar to currants. $10 to add a skewer of veggies. $4 to add a salad is mentioned under the Vegetarian Dishes menu and Seafood & Combination Plates menu. I didn't like how the sugar cubes for the Persian Tea were served. It looked communal and exposed to the elements. You could see sugar dust on the serving bowl. Other Persian restaurants serve the sugar in a smaller covered bowl. Formal dining room. Lunch specials are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3 pm, excluding holidays. Lunch prices range from $16-$20. 3 different $8 soup offerings: chicken barley, ashe reshteh, or green lentil.

This restaurant is a study in old school dining experience. It reminiscent of family owned restaurants with the older generation creating a homey atmospshere. The furniture is comfy and broken in. When you walk in, you feel immediately welcomed by the staff. There is nothing pretentious about this place at all. For an appetizer, we got the Bademjoon- an eggplant dip served with naan. To make it vegan, asked for the kashk on the side. The dip by itself was good, but with the hashk, it took it the whole new level. They also gave us an oil and mint dressing, which was phenomenal. For my main course I chose to have the beef Koobideh with rice, salad and a roasted tomato. I could eat those roasted tomatoes all day long. My friend shared a secret with me- cut roasted tomato, mix it in with the basmati rice and top with sumac. What an amazing combination? Throughout our meal, staff would pass by and see how we were doing. Not intrusive, it didn't feel like a server asking you if you need anything. All in all my meals here have been great. If it was a little bit closer to home, I would probably go more often. Parking is a little touch and go sometimes there's parking and sometimes there isn't. The lot is very small.
