Flavor profile on point. Loved this family place. Sat and ate for over 2 hours and could've eaten more. Delicious and great service!

Service was great, the employees made us feel so welcomed and they were very helpful when we explained it was our first time eating afghan food. We had a great experience. The dumpling appetizer was so delicious! Also the beef kabob was full of flavor and sooo delicious. The lamb was very tender but it needed more broth to counteract the dryness of the rice on top of it. The chicken was good and the portion sizes were great as well. The place was empty so we were able to focus solely on the food without any noise or distractions. I would definitely come back again

Chicken Kabob + free yummy bread with two dipping sauces

YUM YUM YUM! I had been craaaaaaaving Afghan food for the longest and am over the top happy that we have this amazing little gem in our city. My sister and I stopped in on a cold rainy day earlier this week and it beyond hit the spot for both of us. It is a simple establishment, very clean, with super delicious food served PIPING hot by the lovely individuals working there. My sister ordered the chicken kabob and I'm vegetarian so I ordered the Eggplant borani bajandan dish (served with rice but not pictured) with an additional order of Mantoo with Veggie to split between us. EVERYTHING and I do mean everything was SO DELICIOUS. Before our order came out they brought fresh bread with two dipping sauces (the red one was sweet then sour hot and the green one might have been Zaatar based but I could definitely be wrong it also had kick to it) which were yummy as well. We basically finished everything with just a bit leftover for my sis to snack on later. It is so rare to find veggie Mantoo (usually only see the beef option) and it was just *perfection. The dishes were so flavorful and everything was well balanced and freshly made. The people working there are also super kind and take pride in what they do. Highly recommend this place the next time your craving authentic Afghani cuisine!

Tried out this afghan cuisine with my family and hands down was very similar to my moms cooking. Every dish comes with rice and naan so prepare yourself! Location is not the best but the restaurant is pretty big. We sat down and ordered the following: - Qabuli pilao (comes with lamb or vegetarian but was really good!) - mantoo veggie (delicious!! Favorite dish) - Chapli kabob (very interesting dish, was a chicken kabob but in a patty form, still tasted delicious) - dough (yogurt drink hit the spot) - borani bandajan (eggplant dish tasted amazing) The service was amazing! The owner was so nice and gave us free dessert on the house (a firni to share amongst 4 people). Great food, service, and ambiance. We will be back!

This pic is less than half of the food that was in the box. Qabili Palaw absolutely delicious!!

So impressed with this restaurant!! The portions are very generous for what you pay. I had the lamb shank and it was literally to die for- meat falling off the bone tender. Food was ready in 5 minutes. Will be back in heartbeat

Green sauce (Chatni) and a spicy sauce that pairs well with the Potato Bolani... and everything else lol

Love this place from the very beginning. Ate here again after a couple of years (it's a little far from where I live) and they are still oh so good! Very sweet and nice customer service. They serve good, warm, hearty meals. I really love their "potato pizza" I'm always craving it

It's a small, no-frills place. We come for the delicious mantu! Not too many places around here have it.

Before Covid they were busting at the seams at all hours, but things have slowed a bit so trying to get more business their way... so let's get to it! Firstly, it was a quiet early Monday afternoon, and we were very warmly greeted and seated. The menu is as you would expect for Mediterranean, with some Greek favorites tossed in (Moussaka for ex.). I wanted to sample all the goodness, so went with the appetizer "Mezze platter" which included a generous amount of hummus, baba g., tzatziki, dolmas, pita, olives, and a new one for me - a larger dolma shaped roll stuffed with rice and ground lamb. SO good. Topped it off with a Turkish coffee served in a lovely brass vessel (briki) that you pour for yourself and it was more than enough for 2 people. The flavor was very unique compared to other coffees from that region that I've tried. Can't wait to go back and try other entrees! Great for groups, couples, or solo. A whole variety of options to choose from... and there's parking out front! GOOOOOO!!!

Do not do not listen to any of these bad reviews because I've never had a bad experience and I've been coming here for the past three years. These people who leave bad reviews have no idea for the quality food and amazing price they are getting. I was sitting there and family of 7 didn't want to pay gratuity and had the owner come back and forth. Amir handle them with class, and upmost politeness. I would have kicked them out of my restaurant if I was him. That same day I had a table of 12 and everyone was extremely pleased.

But unfortunately, with so many other options available, this probably won't be my first choice. Take-out ordering was convenient but we did have to wait awhile for our food, despite arriving when they said it would be ready. My order consisted of naan, fried fish, shahi paneer, and prawn masala. We also ordered rice, and at most places it's a giant to-go plate of rice, but here it was a small box, which was obviously disappointing (and annoying), especially since all the other portions were pretty big. Why give a big vat of butter chicken and only a small box of rice?? But overall the food was pretty much 3 stars. Solid, but not outstanding.

As an Uzbek family originally from Tashkent, we must admit, somewhat embarrassingly, that we had not visited this restaurant serving our native cuisine until now. And before coming here, I could never have imagined that what I would see and hear would truly amaze and delight me. This feeling came within the very first moments of entering the restaurant, where lively music was playing and the famous song "Uchkuduk" performed by the band "Yalla" was playing. Along with this, there was a large artistic wall panel on the right, beautifully painted, illustrating a caravan of camels traveling through a hot desert. On the left side, there was another artwork--a fresco depicting the entrance to a caravanserai, once a resting place for traders along the Great Silk Road in ancient Samarkand, a major trading hub of its time. What impressed me most was the central part of the hall's wall, where dozens of exquisite decorative items were neatly arranged--examples of Uzbekistan's national art, craftsmanship, and traditional design. These beautifully reflect our culture and heritage, known around the world. The elegant furniture, the uniquely designed ceiling, and, of course, the glossy, mirror-like epoxy floor all perfectly complement this incredible beauty. Honestly, one feels like saying that this is not a restaurant, but a museum, where for a moment I truly felt as if I were back home in Tashkent--so cozy, familiar, and close to the heart. Now, moving on to the main impressions of our visit, especially the genuine delight of our American friends with the unique and delicious dishes we ordered. Of course, there was the famous Uzbek plov, three types of juicy kebabs, salads, samsa, manty, and two kinds of tea. After the meal, fully enjoying the outstanding flavors, our guests sincerely admitted that they had never experienced anything like this anywhere before, and promised that this restaurant would become one of their favorite places to return to again and again with friends and family. The next day, each of us, while at work--including myself--felt absolutely no hunger until returning home. What a phenomenon! A true testament to the richness and satisfying nature of Uzbek cuisine--something not often found in many other dining places in Sacramento. For all of this, and especially for the incredibly beautiful interior design that reflects both the historical depth and modern spirit of Uzbekistan, creating the impression of a "small Uzbek enclave" within California's capital -- we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the management of "Caravan Uzbek Cuisine Halal" from our small family. We wish you and your wonderful staff good health above all, and continued success in earning the appreciation and love of both your loyal and new guests, contributing to the growth and prosperity of your business. And we, your new admirers, look forward to many more visits in the future to this truly beautiful and magnificent restaurant. Amen.
