My go-to place is Vinhouse Tea & Coffee, so I was pleasantly surprised that their drinks are actually really good. Waitress gave us a few minutes to make our decision and our order was processed and receive within minutes. Our order arrived fresh + hot and you can tell all the vegetables were freshly prepared that day in fact it was apparent that the seafood was not frozen. The service was impeccable from the moment that we walked in. That includes being greeted right away. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and on top of the details. We ordered some pretty standard items off the menu to please everyone-vegetable chow mein, lemon chicken and pot stickers. Even though these might sound like boring dishes, they actually came out with such flair! The presentation on the dishes were gorgeous. They tasted amazing as well. I love the lighting of the restaurant. It gave it such a chill vibe. It's on a very busy street but you've never know it once you walk in it kind of feels like you are more tucked away in a smaller neighborhood.. Their lunch specials include the classics such as Mongolian beef and also some others I've never seen, such as Yushiang pork. Each lunch special comes with either fried rice or white rice and hot and sour soup. You can upgrade your lunch special $2 to add chow mein as well. It's well-worth the upgrade, and the portion sizes are huge. We usually take leftovers home from here if we upgrade our lunch special. We especially love Sichuan City for its bold flavors and authenticity. The wok hay is strong, just as we like it, and the dishes aren't overwhelmed with sauce, as many other Chinese-American restaurants are. One of my favorite dishes is their string bean pork, which is dry fried. This was the first dish I ordered when we very first came for their lunch special, and I was instantly enamored. Oftentimes that dish is doused in sauce, but not here. The Yushiang pork is saucy, but not overly so, and has a good variety of veggies, including my favorite wood ear mushroom. Their meat has always been tender as well. The hot and sour soup is spicy and balanced, and we like to add extra white pepper for an extra kick. We ordered the house chow mein once to have with our lunch specials and it was packed with so much meat. The noodles were bouncy, chewy, and amazingly flavorful. The staff have always been friendly and efficient, and very attentive. While we've always come during lunch rush, Sichuan City has never been crazy busy, and we're always able to have a quiet dining experience to ourselves and have sat at one of their several booths every time. I really want to branch out and order some of their specialty dishes next time, but their lunch specials are just too good. I'm really eyeing their spicy beef stew soup noodle though, so that will probably be on my radar to order next. After having Sichuan City's lunch specials, all of our usual spots in gold country pale in comparison to this place. The lighting is cozy, and the exterior design is great and unique--mostly typical Chinese restaurants, but here it's much more modern.
