Came by Maydoon for dinner on a Sunday without a reservation, but the staff were nice and able to fit us in! Our waiter was very attentive the entire time, even making some recommendations about which dishes to get since it was our first time eating there. The combo platter appetizer is a great way to try several of their small dishes while waiting for the main entrees. Everything was delicious and the pita had a good bite to it. I got the Maydoon Bowl with lamb and it was yummy! There was a generous portion of meat and rice, and mixing the entire dish was a tasty way to get goodness in every bite. Parking can be a hassle in that area, but doable. There's some free 1-2 hour parking spots a few blocks on either side. Inside was quite loud, but to be expected since it's a popular dinner spot.

We ordered the combo appetizer, everything was fire. My favorite was the Shirazi. It was all great to start. I ordered the lamb shish kabob it was so delicious, so good. My wife ordered the rack of lamb and it was very flavorful also. The food is so good and seasoned so well. This was our first time there and we will be going back. The people we dined with have been there often and that is why we went because of their recommendation. I could have been more satisfied with a delicious dinner.

When the friends group wants to try Persian cuisine together, Maydoon is it. Apps and drinks were ordered and enjoyed. Falafel, pita/hummus,dolmeh, all tasty. As were the adult libations. Dinner was super delicious. The restaurant was super accommodating to us, and the simple changes we requested to our respective dishes. I ordered the Maydoon bowl, and substituted the rice for additional veggies/salad, and created my own salad bowl. My choice of protein was the chicken kebab, with added extra chicken. The chicken was tender and lightly seasoned. The combo of the layer of flavors in the salad, and a chicken made for very tasty bites! Service was spot on, and our glasses were kept filled. Fun little spot to meet friends, family, or even for an easy date night.
My office ordered catering from here and WOW! We ordered so much food and everything that was catered from here was delicious. My office ordered Rice, Veggies, Chicken Kabab, and Beef Kabab. Everything was so tasty and flavorful. I already have this place in my Yelp bookmarks to eat at their restaurant in person to try more of their menu!
I got the beef bowl and let me tell you... it was so good! The bartender Kareem recommended it to me. I also got a margarita that was one of the best I've ever had! Inside is very clean and welcoming. Get over here now and try them! Don't forget to tip Kareem!
Currently visiting and staying on Q, so I was looking for something to pick up for dinner. So happy I saw Maydoon on Yelp because the food was phenomenal! Loved the chicken soltani and koobideh, the rice was super soft and fluffy, just delicious all around. It was easy to call and order and pick up, so we really appreciated it! Thank you!

There was not a single thing on the entire plate that was not delicious. The meat was perfectly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The salad dressing was vinegary and refreshing! This plate is a little on the higher side at $28.00 but for the portion I think it's well worth it! A suggestion to the restaurant would be to add a changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my son on the sink countertop which was less than ideal but we got it done. Would be a nice addition to the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back in!

I started with the tehran nights cocktail. It was their take on a spicy marg, and i enjoyed it. I wish it was a little sweeter or had more citrus, but overall and good drink and lovely presentation. As a starter, I had the Kashk E Bademjan which was grilled eggplant mashed into a spread, topped with yogurt and mint oil, served with pita. It was flavorful for a dip/ spread. There was a perfect ratio of pita to spread. The pita was warm and a perfect vessel for the spread. For dinner, Melissa and I both had the same thing: The Maydoon Bowl. This came with the choice of either shredded lamb, ground beef kebab, chicken kebab, or Falafel. Served with rice, cucumber, tomato, and onions, topped with pickled onions and our signature dressing. I went with the ground beef kebab, per our server's recommendation, and she did not steer us wrong. The meat was tender and flavorful. It was beautiful presentation, even just for a bowl. I enjoyed their signature dressing as well. Additionally, I loved how many pickled red onions they put on this dish. We closed the meal with persian ice cream which was flavored with saffron, rosewater & pistachio. This was such a refreshing ice cream. Creamy consistency, and I loved the rose flavoring.
Ordered the Taste of Maydoon with Chicken. Our order was packed up nicely and the portion was perfect! The chicken was soft, I loved the fire grilled veggies (tomato and bell peppers) and the rice was fluffy. The sauces that came with it were all amazing! The hummus was delicious to eat with the pita bread! This is one I'll be craving to go back to!
I hadn't heard of Maydoon before seeing this restaurant on the Dine Downtown Sac 2026 list; I originally planned to eat off that menu. However, after looking at both menus, I decided to order off the normal menu. First, I need to mention the service, as the hostess was very off-putting. My husband had called for reservations at 6PM. Upon arrival, I let the hostess know we had reservations and she said, "Oh, you're early." She said it in such an unhappy tone, that I immediately checked the time...it was 5:56PM. After seeing we only arrived four minutes prior to our stated time, I was worried how the service would be here. Fortunately, our waitress was genuinely friendly. However, she did fail to check in on us, refill our waters, and brought the check out before asking if we wanted dessert (which I did). She was helpful when ordering though, so overall it was fine. I ordered the Maydoon Bowl with a side of Green Salad. (The waitress was kind enough to point out the bowl already came with Shirazi Salad so I added the Green Salad rather than the Shirazi.) My meal was delicious - very flavorful and filling! I had the Combo (a scoop of Persian ice cream and a baklava) for dessert. I personally didn't care much for the baklava, but enjoyed the ice cream. I'm glad I now know about Maydoon and would return in the future.

Work day + can't leave the office = takeout. This is my third time eating Maydoons and it is a solid option for Mediterranean in Sacramento. I had the koobideh taste of maydoon 9/10. The meat was not dry and it included two different sauces to mix with my meal. I had a yogurt sauce and hummus! I'm a fan of dipping so it was perfect. Highly recommend for a good lunch. read more
One of my favorite restaurants and it is a fan favorite with friends and family! The restaurant is spacious and beautiful, has lots of seating both inside and outside, friendly staff, and a bar. The food is absolutely delicious, so many vegetarian friendly options, the cocktails are refreshing, and you will definitely be satisfied with anything you order! I love getting their dip trio or maydoon bowl. They also have an amazing Persian ice cream for dessert and you have to try it at least once! I would recommend getting a reservation because they get very busy! read more
My daughter and I visited on a Thursday night for dinner. We were looking for something different as wer were staying in the downtown area and this caught our eye and it was walkable from our hotel. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation, we did not, it wasn't a problem, we were promptly sat, however, we waited some time for a server to acknowledge us, probably close to 20 minutes. We had enough time to decide on every portion of our meal, I was a little upset, but Brian our server made up for it and he shared that they were short staff due to a call out. We had the grape leaves for an app and they were delicious. My daughter chose the lamb shank and I had the Maydoon bowl with shredded lamb and both far exceeded our expectations! You can tell there is a lot of love that goes into preparing the food. This review would have been a 5 across the board if it weren't for that wait. We booked Maydoon for dinner on Thanksgiving Eve. We are new to the Sacramento dining scene and Persian Chicken Kabobs with Saffron Rice is a usual crowd pleaser in all the cities we visit. Maydoon is a modern, festive, and brightly-lit restaurant that has a bit of a sports-bar feel. The food and cleanliness, including bathrooms are superb. Very casual and great for sports fan, date night, family dinners, you name it. My only criticism is that paid street parking is super difficult to find even on a weeknight, so maybe plan on 1-2 blocks away. I started with the Mast Have cocktail - vanilla vodka with pomegranate and sour cherry was super refreshing and balanced sweet and tart. The yogurt gave it a nice smooth finish. The Stewed Eggplant appetizer was tomatoey and great with the soft, warm pita bread. Almost like having a miniature pizza bite. Beef Koobideh was decent though slightly on the saltier side. I liked the inclusion of blistered tomatoes and a large roasted green pepper. The star of the evening was the Persian Chicken Kabob - and definitely as for thigh meat. Perfectly seared and so soft and juicy inside. Top tier among all the Persian places we've had in Seattle and Bay Area. read more

Well I finally came back to Maydoon for their Taste of Maydoon platter. Taste of Maydoon allows you to taste everything. There's a yogurt sauce, hummus, pitas, rice, protein of your choice, salad, grilled tomato and grilled pepper. It is so filling that it is usually both my lunch and dinner. I was surprised to find out that the price has dropped from $26 to $21. This is almost free. It's a huge plate of food and very tasty. It's beautiful to look at. The Mediterranean food here is better than any I have tried in the Bay area. If I live closer, I'd come here every week. I love the grilled chicken thigh. It's juicy and has a great flavor because it's been marinated. It's slightly charred from the grill. It is both slightly crunchy from the grill and yet incredibly juicy inside. They always grill it fresh so it is the hottest thing on your plate My husband had a different protein, he had Koobideh ground beef. You get a choice of ground beef or ground chicken. It wasn't too salty like another person said it was. To me, it was a bit bland. It tasted like a very tender and bland meatloaf. It's very pretty and has a nice shape. My husband liked the ground beef Koobideh but I prefer the chicken thighs. This place gets incredibly loud during a weekday. I highly recommend you come right when it opens at 11:00 a.m. By noon, the entire restaurant was full and extremely loud. As an introvert, it was a bit overwhelming for me to sit in the loud restaurant but when the food came, I was able to distract myself with the tasty food. Maydoon is easily one of the best dining experiences in Sacramento. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The koobideh kebab was perfectly seasoned and tender, and the saffron rice had amazing flavor. We also tried the tahdig and dips, which were incredible and tasted authentic.The atmosphere is modern, warm, and perfect for a date night or dinner with friends. My friend group and I enjoyed our monthly get together by dining at the lovely Maydoon. Situated in midtown, Maydoon open floor space with a bar; the ambiance reminds me of a chill vibe in SF or NY. For apps we ordered dolmeh, falafel bites and the dip trio. All were freshly prepared and delicious. I finally tried dolmeh and I am in love! As an entree I ordered the Maydoon Bowl with ground beef kabob. Alyssa, our amazing server, helped me with my dinner selection (great call, Alyssa!). I'm still salivating over the ground beef kabob...OMG so good! The rice was cooked to perfection and served with tomatoes, cucumbers, and the green sauce was amazinggggg. The Mast Have cocktail was a lovely complement to a wonderful dinner. Can't want to return with other friends as well as my family. read more

One of the only places in town you can get Ghormeh Sabzi! The staff are very professional and polite here. The decor is also very well curated and beautiful! Even the design of the plates and bowls show that someone really cares about the ambiance of the restaurant. My friend ordered a koobedeh kabob dish that looked amazing. I ordered the ghormeh sabzi and loved it. The complex flavors and strong preserved bitterness of the lime really makes this dish so unique. There was quite a bit of meat in the stew and each piece was tender and delicious! It was served with quite a bit of basmati rice and even a large crispy piece! The amount of food provided for each dish was substantial! My friend has shellfish and nut allergies and the restaurant serves no shellfish and only nuts in the desserts! The prices were quite reasonable for a dinner spot in Sacramento, $16-30 for an entree. read more

Yum!!! Currently salivating writing this review... Our lunch at Maydoon was fresh and fulfilling. I ordered the Maydoon bowl with chicken. The cucumber, tomato, and onion provided a salty, tangy flavor and the chicken was perfectly grilled for some added smokiness. The rice soaked up some of the juices from the vegetable and was very flavorful. The ice cream was great! I was surprised at the flavor profile - saffron, rose water, and pistachio - coming through fully. You can really taste the different flavors. It was nice and creamy, and a refreshing end to the meal. The baklava was fine but didn't stand out to me. Would definitely come back again. read more
Spectacular food! Came on a Friday however I didn't have a reservation, arrived around 6 but to get a table, I was quoted for a reservation at 8:30! My goodness was it busy. My group of 3 ended up sitting up at the bar to eat since it was the only area available at that time. I ordered the chicken bowl and the chicken skewers, and the taste was amazing! My bowl was fresh, fragrant, and aromatic, ton of spices and texture. Chicken skewers were flavored but the plain rice was a very basic meal. Overall I would definitely recommend coming here but also making a reservation ahead of time. read more

First time here and had the Maydoon bowl with chicken. The chicken was so tender and everything came together to make each bite a flavorful delight! I also ordered the baklava and loved the hint of cardamon. Great service by Brian. He was efficient, friendly and helpful with ordering. I will definitely be back! read more
maydoon has a nice outdoor patio. i got the maydoon bowl and hummus appetizer, which came with plenty of hummus and tasty fresh pita bread. the bowl was well portioned (enough for leftovers!) and balanced overall. the pickled onion was a bit bitter for my tastes. the chicken breast meat was tender and flavorful, especially the pieces with more char. solid rice and veggies. a great meal overall and friendly, casual service. a great place to go out with friends or coworkers if you want something nice, reliable, and won't break the bank! read more

The girls and I walked over to have lunch while at work. I had the Maydoon Bowl which came chicken kabob served with rice, cucumber, tomato and onions, topped with pickled onions and signature dressing.i added extra dressing and the spicy jalapeño sauce and it was to die for. The service was amazing and the food was so flavorful. The restaurant can be busy during lunch time and dinner. Ambiance can be good for lunch/dinner with the girls or a night out with your partner. No, this is a small upscale bar and restaurant. There is small patio area that may allow dogs but there is no posted signage mentioning dogs allowed.
Is the food halal?
Yes, on the dinner menu (website) it states that "our restaurant is proud to serve halal food."
Is there a dress code?
I didn't notice a dress code. Most people were dressed casual. Khaki's and button up shirt to Jeans and a sweater or tshirt. Comparable to what you might see at most dine in restaurants on a Saturday night.
