What a wonderful experience! We were greeted right away when we walked in & were sat right away. They had high chairs for kiddos & so my son was able to join us at the table in his own chair. I ordered their mule which was not only delicious but a great price too at $10.00! For my main I ordered the Taste of Maydoon which included a taste of everything! There was not a single thing on the entire plate that was not delicious. The meat was perfectly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The salad dressing was vinegary and refreshing! This plate is a little on the higher side at $28.00 but for the portion I think it's well worth it! A suggestion to the restaurant would be to add a changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my son on the sink countertop which was less than ideal but we got it done. Would be a nice addition to the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back in!
My friend group and I enjoyed our monthly get together by dining at the lovely Maydoon. Situated in midtown, Maydoon open floor space with a bar; the ambiance reminds me of a chill vibe in SF or NY. For apps we ordered dolmeh, falafel bites and the dip trio. All were freshly prepared and delicious. I finally tried dolmeh and I am in love! As an entree I ordered the Maydoon Bowl with ground beef kabob. Alyssa, our amazing server, helped me with my dinner selection (great call, Alyssa!). I'm still salivating over the ground beef kabob...OMG so good! The rice was cooked to perfection and served with tomatoes, cucumbers, and the green sauce was amazinggggg. The Mast Have cocktail was a lovely complement to a wonderful dinner. Can't want to return with other friends as well as my family.
One of my favorite local stops in downtown, love supporting local businesses! Each time I come here I know it's worth my drive. Clean, friendly, waiters are attentive and let's not forget the food is great. No complaints about this spot. It's always friendly and welcoming. Def recommend making reservations if you are trying out this place bc of seating.
I walked past here this week, and then last night was over this way for spin and decided to give it a try. I was thoroughly impressed. The inside is cute, but we were sweaty post spin class, so we decided to eat outside. It was perfect weather. Our server was attentive and offered great recommendations. I started with the tehran nights cocktail. It was their take on a spicy marg, and i enjoyed it. I wish it was a little sweeter or had more citrus, but overall and good drink and lovely presentation. As a starter, I had the Kashk E Bademjan which was grilled eggplant mashed into a spread, topped with yogurt and mint oil, served with pita. It was flavorful for a dip/ spread. There was a perfect ratio of pita to spread. The pita was warm and a perfect vessel for the spread. For dinner, Melissa and I both had the same thing: The Maydoon Bowl. This came with the choice of either shredded lamb, ground beef kebab, chicken kebab, or Falafel. Served with rice, cucumber, tomato, and onions, topped with pickled onions and our signature dressing. I went with the ground beef kebab, per our server's recommendation, and she did not steer us wrong. The meat was tender and flavorful. It was beautiful presentation, even just for a bowl. I enjoyed their signature dressing as well. Additionally, I loved how many pickled red onions they put on this dish. We closed the meal with persian ice cream which was flavored with saffron, rosewater & pistachio. This was such a refreshing ice cream. Creamy consistency, and I loved the rose flavoring.
Work day + can't leave the office = takeout. This is my third time eating Maydoons and it is a solid option for Mediterranean in Sacramento. I had the koobideh taste of maydoon 9/10. The meat was not dry and it included two different sauces to mix with my meal. I had a yogurt sauce and hummus! I'm a fan of dipping so it was perfect. Highly recommend for a good lunch.
I hadn't heard of Maydoon before seeing this restaurant on the Dine Downtown Sac 2026 list; I originally planned to eat off that menu. However, after looking at both menus, I decided to order off the normal menu. First, I need to mention the service, as the hostess was very off-putting. My husband had called for reservations at 6PM. Upon arrival, I let the hostess know we had reservations and she said, "Oh, you're early." She said it in such an unhappy tone, that I immediately checked the time...it was 5:56PM. After seeing we only arrived four minutes prior to our stated time, I was worried how the service would be here. Fortunately, our waitress was genuinely friendly. However, she did fail to check in on us, refill our waters, and brought the check out before asking if we wanted dessert (which I did). She was helpful when ordering though, so overall it was fine. I ordered the Maydoon Bowl with a side of Green Salad. (The waitress was kind enough to point out the bowl already came with Shirazi Salad so I added the Green Salad rather than the Shirazi.) My meal was delicious - very flavorful and filling! I had the Combo (a scoop of Persian ice cream and a baklava) for dessert. I personally didn't care much for the baklava, but enjoyed the ice cream. I'm glad I now know about Maydoon and would return in the future.
Classic, generous portions of my Persian favorites, Maydoon NEVER disappoints. I travel to Sacramento often for business, and Maydoon has become my go-to for straightforward, classic Persian food that's full of flavor, aesthetically presented, straightforward comfort good. Friendly, attentive service every single time. The signature cocktails are interesting, but I'm a wine kinda gal, so the only thing I would change is the wine selection. It just isn't worthy of the amazing food.
Well I finally came back to Maydoon for their Taste of Maydoon platter. Taste of Maydoon allows you to taste everything. There's a yogurt sauce, hummus, pitas, rice, protein of your choice, salad, grilled tomato and grilled pepper. It is so filling that it is usually both my lunch and dinner. I was surprised to find out that the price has dropped from $26 to $21. This is almost free. It's a huge plate of food and very tasty. It's beautiful to look at. The Mediterranean food here is better than any I have tried in the Bay area. If I live closer, I'd come here every week. I love the grilled chicken thigh. It's juicy and has a great flavor because it's been marinated. It's slightly charred from the grill. It is both slightly crunchy from the grill and yet incredibly juicy inside. They always grill it fresh so it is the hottest thing on your plate My husband had a different protein, he had Koobideh ground beef. You get a choice of ground beef or ground chicken. It wasn't too salty like another person said it was. To me, it was a bit bland. It tasted like a very tender and bland meatloaf. It's very pretty and has a nice shape. My husband liked the ground beef Koobideh but I prefer the chicken thighs. This place gets incredibly loud during a weekday. I highly recommend you come right when it opens at 11:00 a.m. By noon, the entire restaurant was full and extremely loud. As an introvert, it was a bit overwhelming for me to sit in the loud restaurant but when the food came, I was able to distract myself with the tasty food. Highly recommend this restaurant during the off hours.
We booked Maydoon for dinner on Thanksgiving Eve. We are new to the Sacramento dining scene and Persian Chicken Kabobs with Saffron Rice is a usual crowd pleaser in all the cities we visit. Maydoon is a modern, festive, and brightly-lit restaurant that has a bit of a sports-bar feel. The food and cleanliness, including bathrooms are superb. Very casual and great for sports fan, date night, family dinners, you name it. My only criticism is that paid street parking is super difficult to find even on a weeknight, so maybe plan on 1-2 blocks away. I started with the Mast Have cocktail - vanilla vodka with pomegranate and sour cherry was super refreshing and balanced sweet and tart. The yogurt gave it a nice smooth finish. The Stewed Eggplant appetizer was tomatoey and great with the soft, warm pita bread. Almost like having a miniature pizza bite. Beef Koobideh was decent though slightly on the saltier side. I liked the inclusion of blistered tomatoes and a large roasted green pepper. The star of the evening was the Persian Chicken Kabob - and definitely as for thigh meat. Perfectly seared and so soft and juicy inside. Top tier among all the Persian places we've had in Seattle and Bay Area.
The food was outstanding and the interior is cute. I enjoyed the mural painting on the wall. The falafel and chicken were both a great texture not dried out like some places can be. The bowls have great flavor. This is an ideal place for a quick lunch or casual dinner, perfectly not fussy. They have a full bar too that cranked out a lot of delicious looking cocktails.
The girls and I walked over to have lunch while at work. I had the Maydoon Bowl which came chicken kabob served with rice, cucumber, tomato and onions, topped with pickled onions and signature dressing.i added extra dressing and the spicy jalapeño sauce and it was to die for. The service was amazing and the food was so flavorful. The restaurant can be busy during lunch time and dinner. Ambiance can be good for lunch/dinner with the girls or a night out with your partner. Will come back
One of the only places in town you can get Ghormeh Sabzi! The staff are very professional and polite here. The decor is also very well curated and beautiful! Even the design of the plates and bowls show that someone really cares about the ambiance of the restaurant. My friend ordered a koobedeh kabob dish that looked amazing. I ordered the ghormeh sabzi and loved it. The complex flavors and strong preserved bitterness of the lime really makes this dish so unique. There was quite a bit of meat in the stew and each piece was tender and delicious! It was served with quite a bit of basmati rice and even a large crispy piece! The amount of food provided for each dish was substantial! My friend has shellfish and nut allergies and the restaurant serves no shellfish and only nuts in the desserts! The prices were quite reasonable for a dinner spot in Sacramento, $16-30 for an entree.
Passed by this place a lot; finally decided to try it for lunch, incredible! The food is sooo good. Talk about flavor! I got the lamb bowl and it was bursting with flavor from the first bite. The lamb was tender and juicy, and the green sauce they put on the tomatoes and cucumbers paired really well with the deep flavor of the lamb. All of my coworkers food look incredible too and they all really enjoyed their meals. Also the service was really good, the waitress was really sweet and has a great personality. Can you hear last tuesday night. Timing was good we were able to secure a high top table in bar area. It was pretty busy, but we got here just ahead of a thirty person party. Luck was on our side. The bartender was our server.I believe his name was steven.However if i'm wrong my apologies. On this night, everyone was very friendly and helpful.That made our experience so much better, not that it needed it.Because the food was amazing. We tried the beef kebab, the chicken kebab, a cucumber salad and lambshank.All were very flavorful. I cannot begin to describe the layers of flavor in each dish.Each one had its own unique and distinct taste and went above.And beyond anything that I expected. I fell in love with this place. The flavors, textures, colors! The hummus was extraordinary. I tried so many new things. The dolmeh in the combo platter and the Kashkeh Bodemjan is a must try! The pita was perfect. Pictured are dishes of my friends plates and everyone was raving about their food. There were mixed opinions about the Tadigh. I ordered the Koobedeh with the sirloin and it was flavorful and the meat was tender and juicy. The mix of the flavors was amazing and it was even good as leftovers. The vibe in here was super good. Good for dates and larger parties. Looking forward to dining here again! read more
I've been here three times now and have had a wonderful time each visit. I should really try something new, but the Maydoon Salad is so good! I just can't order anything else. It's so delicious. The service has been great every time. Twice I've been served by Brandon (I really hope that's his name, he's great) from the bar. He is always so busy, but makes sure we're taken care of. The ambiance is classy and sophisticated. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious bite. read more
Incredibly delicious kabobs! Maydoon has been on my list to try for quite some time, and ended up being the first new restaurant that I visited in 2025. We sampled a few different items from their menu: - Dolmeh 3.5/5: i like grape leaves but these had a bit of a mushier consistency than i'm used to. flavorful tho nonetheless~ - Chicken Kabob 5/5: wow, so impressed by how juicy and tender the meat was! chargrilled to absolute perfection~ would return again and again for this alone - Soltani (3/5 and 5/5): okay so this one comes with two separate ratings, for the filet mignon and ground sirloin respectively. we went with this one because we felt the filet mignon kabob was a must try but the star of the show ended up being the ground sirloin! -Persian Ice Cream (4/5): a fragrant and refreshing blend of saffron, pistachio and rose water that was a nice palate cleanser to finish off our meal~ Service was a bit on the slower side on the night we went, as the bartender was working double duty waitressing as well. Maydoon is definitely a must-try in Sac, with absolutely standout kabobs (try the chicken and ground sirloin!) as well as an array of authentic Persian-Iranian dishes and an extensive cocktail menu, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or date night. read more
Glad to have an authentic experience here at Maydoon. They had Persian music playing and the interior was on theme but It's not exaggerated,it has that real charm. We don't get this kind of food, at this quality in Reno so my wife and I were super excited to try this recommended place. The food was so superbly tasty! I had the Maydoon bowl with shredded lamb. She had the koobadeh combo beef and chicken (not pictured) the staff was young, and attentive. Cocktails are reasonably priced. I got the baba jafar which was a spiced smoked old fashioned for only 12 bucks. Ive had the same cocktail for 18 and it was not as good. I will need to come back if I am ever here in midtown Sac again, I am very impressed. read more
Absolutely delicious. I can definitely tell when a place is delicious when local folks fill the room. Met a friend here on Sunday night. Asked the server for a custom mocktail, and they SERVED. Ordered the rack of lamb with rice, and my friend ordered the lamb shank. My lamb was well marinated, and served as a delicious leftover the next day. Lamb shank was tender and juicy, especially in the sauce. Vibe was trendy and clean. Would love to come back to try other options. read more
Maydoon has been a place I have been meaning to try for a long time. The reviews were always saying good things. To start, the thing that hooked me the most was the servings. I love huge quantities of food, and Maydoon did not disappoint. I was shocked to see how much meat I got with my order. The Koobideh was tender and juicy. The lamb was pretty great too. Everything I ate was seasoned and was a flavor that I had not yet experienced, as this was my first time eating Persian food. The Pita bread got me wanting more. The ambiance was calm and not too loud. I loved the lighting being a bit dim so I was always relaxing. And finally, the service was pretty good. They gave us a water jug so that we would always have water, and checked in with us pretty frequently. Overall was a great place to eat and felt pretty boujie even though it wasn't too expensive. read more

I have been wanting to try Maydoon for a while. I went in with a group of 10 and they were able to sit us immediately. We ordered the some dips and pita, cocktails, and a few different entrees. I can say that all of the food I tried was delicious. I LOVED the hummus. The shirazi salad was the perfect combination of fresh flavors and complemented everything well. I had the taste of maydoon with shawarma and my boyfriend enjoyed the koobideh, both were so good. The cocktails were nicely crafted. The service was excellent, they were happy to answer any and all questions we had about the menu. I am glad I finally got to eat here and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a flavorful and hearty meal. read more
I enjoyed all of the food. Nicely presented, seasoned and fragrant, and cooked right. I think my only complaint would be that the rice was a little dry. Adding the dips with each bite fixed that. I had the "koobedeh," ground beef on a skewer that tasted like homemade meatloaf. The grilled tomato and pepper rounded out the meal. I also tried my friend's lamb skewer, and the meat was juicy and tender, cooked to medium-well, as requested. Good portions. We ordered the falafel (3 pieces) and the trio dip with pita bread for appetizers. Portions are good but we did have to ask for more of the warm pita bread. The hummus, eggplant, and cucumber yogurt dip were all flavorful and complemented our entrees as well. The restaurant is clean, cute, and cozy. Felt a little warm though, like they need to up the a/c. Our servers were friendly and came around a few times to check on us. If you're in Midtown, try Maydoon for your Persian food cravings. read more
Definitely a top 10 dinner recommendation all around Sacramento. I highly recommend you make dinner reservations ahead of time especially for a weekend as it can get super busy. I showed up on a Friday night with friends after craving some Persian food. Started off with the Kashkeh Bodemjan and Tadigh for apps which were very flavorful especially if you are a fan of dishes with spices. Main dish was the Gormeh Sabzi which, let me tell you, was insanely filling and delicious! This was my first time trying Maydoon but I've heard great things! The restaurant is beautiful and spacious. The service was top tier. The food was amazing! I don't remember all the names of the the platters but everyone in my party thought the food was delicious and fresh. Will be back! read more
The food was delicious! Service was lackadaisical but friendly. When I walked in, the hostess/server wasn't present. There were two guys at the bar that were sooo loud and crass. The sound carried throughout the whole restaurant. It was a bit distracting and then I realized it was the owner and one of his buds/business partners. The restaurant is cute, spacious, and clean. I love places that have fresh flowers on the tables. I think it always adds a sweet touch. The ghormeh sabzi was so flavorful, but I wish that it was served on the side of the tahdig rather than the top. I like to have maximum crunch factor in every bite! The jujeh kabob and kabob e koobideh were so tender and juicy. So satisfying. read more

We celebrated my birthday at Maydoon, and what a treat! We arrived just after they opened for lunch and ordered hummus, eggplant dip, crispy rice, Maydoon bowl with falafel, Steak shish-kabob, veggie kabob and the pickled veggies. The hummus was creamy with loads of tahini, just the way we like it! We asked for no yogurt for the eggplant since my daughter in love is vegan, it was perfect scooped in a pita. The guys loved the steak, it was cooked to perfection and flavorful, the veggie kebab was loaded and the falafel was crispy and honestly the best in the valley. We loved their Maydoon sauce and green sauce too. The crispy rice was satisfyingly crispy and perfect to use as a scooper! Our server was so kind and knowledgeable. We visited Maydoon on a busy Sunday, which we expected, but the experience felt more disorganized than it should have been. My party of three was seated at the bar, even though there were plenty of empty tables waiting to be cleaned. It seemed like they may have been short-staffed because the service was slow and not very attentive. People had to ring the bell to get someone's attention and not even the bar tender who was the closest acknowledged the people waiting. I opted for the Dine Out Sacramento menu and tried the Mediterranean salad, geymeh, and saffron cake. The salad was larger than expected and a nice start - the croton-like bread was stale, but that didn't stop me from cleaning the plate. The geymeh was flavorful but arrived lukewarm, which was disappointing. The saffron cake was a standout--unique and worth trying! However, I wish they offered sumac, hot sauce, or other seasonings for the rice to give it an extra kick. Overall, the food was okay. I've had better gheymeh elsewhere. The service and overall atmosphere made it hard to fully enjoy. I'd like to give Maydoon another chance, but hopefully, they iron out the chaos for a smoother dining experience. read more

We made a reservation here but it wasn't quite that busy. I think one can do a walkin and be fine! Obviously this is located on one of the busy streets in Sac so street parking is where you can park. The inside is very modern with a slight touch of middle eastern architectural decor/design. It was kind of cute. I ordered a taste of maydoon with chicken. It came with chicken, some mixed greens, must khiar, hummus, pita, and rice. The chicken was tender Delicious! I actually really enjoyed it. Customer service was great! Our waiter kept coming to check and make sure we're good. I really liked that! Would probably return if in the area and craving Mediterranean! read more

Providentially, I came for late lunch with my mom after we found our initial option closed. This place is amazing! The decor is elegant and embracing at the same time. Great customer service and food was mouthwatering. We ordered the trio dip, lamb shank and "Gheymeh" a beef stew. Then for dessert my mom asked for an ice cream + baklava combo. All were excellent! Surprisingly, the price for main dishes price were lower than what I saw online. Notably, when we arrived there were few patrons. As people start coming and I could listen to many languages I had the opportunity to look for the meaning of Maydoon. Its meaning in Farsi is quite appropriate, "It signifies a cultural space where people meet to socialize, share meals, and build relationships, embodying warmth and togetherness in Persian culture." I'm definitely coming back. read more

I flew into Sacramento absolutely craving something close to my Armenian roots and Maydoon delivered. The flavors, the warmth, the culture... it felt like home in a bowl. I went straight from the airport to this spot and the food was so phenomenal, I made sure to go back again before flying out. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and comforting. I ordered a spread of items, and every bite hit the mark. A special shoutout to Natalia her kindness and customer service were unmatched. She even gave me extra rice crunchies (which were addictive) just because I said I loved them. Little gestures like that stick with you. The atmosphere was just as lovely welcoming, warm, and full of community. Hearing Armenian spoken all around made my heart full. If I lived nearby, I'd be here every week without question. This place is a gem, and I can't recommend it enough. read more

Affordable and incredible meats! I came with 3 other friends and for 3 kebobs, an appetizer, 4 beers and a glass of wine, total was only $150! We were filled to the brim. Cant go wrong with any of their kebobs. The meats are so tender and go will with the dip trio. We got the filet mignon, lamb chops and chicken. Lamb chops comes in 4 and very tender and flavorful. Highly recommend making a reservation if you want to sit inside. Patio is nice, but a little buggy. read more
Awesome spot in Midtown for flavorful Persian food! We came here for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised! The pita sampler came with three different dips which were all great. Everything seemed like it was made in-house. The chicken plate was also great - so flavorful and they definitely don't skimp on portions! 15/10! We drove down from Reno to go to a show at the Golden 1 center and got dinner before. They were able to get us seated at the bar area right away. We started with the dip trio and tadig appetizers and they were absolutely to die for and satisfying everyone craving! My husband got the amazing Maydoon bowl and still talks about even weeks later. I got a chicken and beef kabab and it absolutely did not disappoint. My only sadness with this meal is that I didn't buy another entree to take with me to go LOL! came in on a sunday night around 6pm and it was pretty busy and we got seated at their little tables in the front since they had reservations. so make sure you have a reservation if you want a table. order the combo plate, lamb rack, and koobedeh 2 skewers. everything was so yummy and filling! unfortunately the chicken was a little dry. service here is great and they always check in with you. will definitely be coming back again and trying other items on the menu. read more

I didn't notice a dress code. Most people were dressed casual. Khaki's and button up shirt to Jeans and a sweater or tshirt. Comparable to what you might see at most dine in restaurants on a Saturday night.
