Five stars for a dinner that felt like a quick trip to Puglia right in the Haight. Uva Enoteca delivered hit after hit -- the Burrata e Prosciutto vanished instantly, the Funghi e Tartufo was rich and earthy perfection, and the Orecchiette della Mamma tasted like your Italian grandmother was quietly running the kitchen. Dessert sealed the deal: pistachio and cherry marmalade Puccia Dolce plus the Budino al Cioccolato. Conversation basically stopped after the first bites. I want to give this place 5 stars but I can't. I ordered (via delivery service) both the Paccheri Funghi e Salasiccia and the Tiramisu. The flavor of the Paccheri Fughi e Salasiccia was WONDERFUL but the pasta was absolutely undercooked and there were about four tiny pieces of sausage (for a $24??). I ordered with 5 minutes to spare on the delivery app so I don't know if the staff was upset with a late order or what but I was very disappointed. As for the Tiramisu.....they packed it ON TOP OF MY HOT PASTA WITH NO BARRIER!!!! When my order finally arrived, it was warm. Sigh!! ‍ I also never had it made like a pudding with very little lady fingers in it and smothered in chunks of chocolate, but I've never been to Italy. read more

Came here with a friend to try out a new Italian restaurant! We had made a reservation so we were seated promptly. I really liked how spacious the restaurant is, as well as how the interior is decorated! It's quite beautiful and rustic on the inside, with nice sconces and a brick wall. I also really enjoyed the service - the waitress gave us recommended and also told us about the history of the restaurant and the food! For the food, I got Puccia Speciale of the day, the panna cotta for dessert, and an Italian ginger beer. The bread on the puccia (don't call it a sandwich!) was amazing - it was light and perfectly bready as well as quite soft. I really enjoyed it - definitely a solid 8.5/10. The panna cotta was also delicious - the vanilla flavors mixed well with the fruity tastes. It felt like biting into a pillowy cloud - 10/10. The ginger beer was also perfect - not too gingery as it can often taste so. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience and I'll definitely be coming back to try more dishes and desserts :) read more

First time ordering, I ordered the rigatoni which was excellent flavored, but the pasta was dry and hard. The only photo I have is of the tiramisu, which was nothing like tiramisu. It's like one of those really terrible desserts you get off of a cruise ship or a really terrible buffet all foam no flavor. Literally there's no coffee flavor. There's no ladyfingers. It's literally three colors of terrible foam. It's crazy what they are charging for something that's literally either out of a can or some plastic tub. read more

Vibey and cute restaurant I've walked by a bunch of times but finally decided to try. Perfect for a date night or catch up session the food is also great. My friends and I had dinner at Uva Enoteca on Haight Street. The vibe is definitely warm and authentic, and the service is genuinely good. I ordered the Paccheri Funghi e Salsiccia, a truffle paste and house pork sausage pasta in light cream sauce, and it was straight-up delectable. Easily a 12 out of 10 for me. The meatballs, Polpette, served with San Marzano tomato and Parmigiano alongside Puccia bread, were beautiful. Appetizers overall were solid, especially the Apulian Puccia bread and the mixed olives with taralli. Heard the pizzas and other pastas are great too, like the rigatoni or orecchiette, but I didn't try them this time. Dessert was a blur, possibly tiramisu, yet it wrapped things up nicely. Went for a private event birthday party! They let us have the entire back of the restaurant, which is about 30 seats large. The bill came out to like $100 each, given the drink minimum, tax, and tip. Cozy and intimate vibes. Antonio is a lovely store owner, very passionate about the quality of the food and where they source ingredients. Our most recent visit to Uva Enoteca was our best yet. Not only were the dishes extremely well-executed, but the hospitality went above and beyond. The ratios and flavors in my Cavolo Nero kale salad were honed, firing on all cylinders as the Pecorino and Lemon melded expertly. The kind of dish I never wanted to see the bottom of. Furthermore, the proprietor, remembering how much I liked that salad, went out of his way to make sure the kitchen delivered a super sized portion for me. That alone would have been a gesture enough to make his restaurant a standby, but he further extended his welcome with a personalized overview of the menu connecting it to his Pugliese roots in a way that genuine rather than performative as it can sometimes be. My only note is I believe the cauliflower in the Cavolfiori could be roasted a bit longer and could use a few more capers and chilis to make the flavor punch. That nit aside, the meal was delightful and the space is charming as ever. A date night winner. read more

It was a bit cold by the time we ate it but that's cause we were yapping so that's on us. Good neighborhood restaurant - wouldn't go out of your way to eat here, but it's not a bad option to walk in and grab a seat for an impromptu dinner on Friday night. The owner is super friendly and passionate about sharing food from his home region of Puglia. The burrata e proscuitto (featuring burrata from Puglia and traditional Puccia bread) was my favorite dish, I loved the warm bread paired with creamy burrata and prosciutto. The rapette (beet salad) was fine, not bad, not memorable. The paccheri funghi pasta my boyfriend enjoyed. My party of 3 ordered the marinated vegetable appetizer with the pugliese bread; vegetables were good but nothing special and bread was unfortunately underwhelming. We got the orecchiette and the "not sandwich" sandwich. Orecchiette was a little cold when it was served and undersalted and quite al dente. The not sandwich was good. We have always loved the vibe and the food here but haven't been back in a handful of years and have heard that the restaurant may have changed hands and didn't know what to expect from the new ownership. I liked the vibe, food and service. I really love Italian food and was quite excited to come here and try their dishes. The interior is very intimate and the staff are quite welcoming and casual which I really like. The dishes themselves taste well done, never too savory or overpowering. Really lets the ingredients lead the experience. I came with a group of 9 and we all ordered separate dishes, none of us really experienced any service hiccups or long spans of time waiting for dishes. I shared a diavola pizza and it was delicious, very savory and a tad spicy. I also got the Orecchiette pasta and it was fresh and light. With chili flakes and a bit of olive oil it's perfect. Additionally the table shared 2 orders of bread that were delicious, I'm a fan of a crispy bread and they did a great job with that and the olive oil dip. I just wish they didn't charge for the bread. While I really liked all aspects of this place, nothing particularly stood out as spectacular. Five stars for this neighborhood gem! Stumbled upon the restaurant during a walk and decided to try it out. You can tell the owners put passion and care into their food. Quiet and intimate atmosphere, slightly upscale. Food was high quality and prices were reasonable. DO NOT miss their desserts. I'm not a huge dessert person, but the Tiramisu was incredible!! Not too sweet and had a wonderful pistachio ganache with cacao nibs. Orecchiette Cime di Rapa was visually interesting as well as delicious with a mild vegetable bitterness adding to the flavors. The bread of course is wonderful and the burrata and prosciuitto should not be missed. The desserts aren't an afterthought either. I've been here three times since they changed ownership and have been delighted each time! The owner, Antonio, is very friendly, knowledgeable and charming as well as his staff. The orecchiette is sooo delicious and unlike anything I've ever had before. I don't eat pork so Antonio suggested I substitute it with anchovies (which is how he says it's traditionally cooked) and it had the most delicious umami flavor. Their mushroom pizza is soooo goood. I have never tasted such a meaty and bitey mushroom pizza. No slimy mess, no rubbery mushrooms, just delicious fresh hearty shrooms! Oh, and can we talk about the crust please? Perfectly soft and chewy, just the way I like it! I am not a fan of a crispy crust, save that for toast please. The crust was charred just enough on the outside, with a soft and fluffy center. Their burrata with pesto is also delicious, but did not like the 4 measly pieces of super crunchy toast. Our appetizers were vegetable-heavy (rapette and cavolifiori) and everything was fresh and not overcooked. The pasta dishes were delicious. The server kindly helped me bumble through the wine list. The service is excellent as is the wine selection. They make a point to have wines from the Italian region they are largely trying to emulate. The menu is small but what they do they do well. Each of their dishes is simple but elevated to the highest possible level with those simple ingredients and dishes in mind. The appetizer prices are a little high and they use canola oil to cut their olive oil (though it's the best canola oil-olive oil blend I've ever had). The ambiance is simple but elegant much like all of their food. Highly recommend the eggplant parm. Either elevating their appetizers a bit more or dropping appetizer price and improving the oil would make this a 5 star place. read more

The Italian food here is so well done. The recommended white wine pairing was delicious. We ordered the Paccheri Alle Melanzane, Rigatoni Al Pomodoro, Melanzane Alla Parmigiana, and Funghi E Tartufo. All were amazing. The Paccheri was my favorite though, as it was a smokey tasting pasta, something I never tried before but now I'm a big fan of. The Rigatoni was a classic dish, but was done SO well that I absolutely loved it. The Melanzane was melt in your mouth delicious, and the funghi pizza was mushroom heavy, which I loved. All great dishes to try there!! We also ordered a couple of appetizers. I wouldn't really order those again because the main courses were such stand out dishes, but the appetizers were good in their own right. read more

Service was good, Emilio kept coming over asking how everything was and was helpful with the menu. Ambiance of the restaurant is similar to something you would find in NY. Took me awhile to find the entrance but once inside it's really bright and airy in the front and more of that brick hole in the wall vibe in the back. Crostini Trio: A really solid starter. Got to try the eggplant/ricotta (?), hummus with chickpeas, and chicken liver mousse. Eggplant was really tender and was surprisingly pleasant, considering I'm not usually a fan of eggplant. Ricotta was perfect touch of creaminess. Hummus was solid, not really a standout. A little overkill on the chickpeas though. Chicken liver mousse was giving a pate vibe and a very generous portion. 4.5/5 Beet Salad: Not a fan of this but honestly bc Im biased on beets. A really refreshing appetizer if you do like beets though. Ricotta was whipped to airy perfection. Helped balance the beet taste on my palette. 3/5 Carbonara: I absolutely love carbonara but I will say that this tasted more like a fettuccine than carbonara. It's missing that emulsification of the fat and cheese that creates that decadent savoriness in carbonara. But aside from that, it would pass off as a good fettuccine dish. Honestly not sure how this was made but it was good, just didn't hit as a carbonara. 3.5/5 Eggplant: Really surprising. Super tender eggplant, sweet tomato sauce, and fresh cheese. A bite of this was really good and had nice flavor and freshness to it. 4/5 Panna Cotta: Love panna cotta and this one was good. Nothing really stood out but really liked the crunch of the added frosted flakes. Raspberries and the sauce added a mild tartness to balance out the sweet vanilla of the panna cotta. 4/5 Overall a really good experience. I would go back to try some stuff off their normal menu that caught my eye. I would recommend this spot for a nice casual eat. read more

Came here for SF restaurant week this past Saturday and we made a reservation for 3. The host was super accommodating and nice so appreciate the good service! We ordered from the SF restaurant week set menu and some of us got the margarita pizza and the others got the carbonara. I thought the 2 balanced each other out really well since the pizza was pretty tomato-y and the carbonara was super creamy! The meal also came with complimentary glass of Prosecco which was really good too. I think the best part was definitely the dessert thought. The chocolate mousse melts immediately in your mouth and was not too sweet. Overall solid place, food was good but nothing blew my mind so decided to give 4 stars. This dish was one of the better ones I have had for Italian food. I like the effort that they put into having more than one veg options available. I am not big on eggplant but this dish was baked to perfection and surprisingly enough the eggplant flavor wasn't overpowering but complemented the refreshing tartness of the tomatoes. They definitely used high quality ingredients because it didn't have the after taste of a canned tomatoes. The cheese was a little crispy so it played a significant part in the harmony of the textures going on in the dish.
