One of their mail carriers just harassed me for parking near their mail truck. On Pulaski Road in Chicago. Older black lady, approx. 5' 2" slim build, ~60 y/o. I was inside a store, she came in and began yelling at me, said she had my license plate and called the cops. For what, I don't know. She was the one parked illegally. Then she told me my mother is a "dumb bitch". She refused to identify herself, but I hope this description is enough to find her and issue some corrective action. Update: I informed USPS, and they followed up with an apology and informed me that management addressed the issue. Changing to 3 star rating. read more

If I could give a 0 for a review, I definitely would. I came here because of the good reviews, only to find out the doors were locked & multiple customers needed services today. We all stood outside, wondering why the location seemed to be closed for business. No holiday today, just regular business hours, lights on in the building, but no one answered the door. Whoa! No line?! What the heck is this place.. is it really a U S Postal office? The postal worker was hella nicer to my gal pal. I'm not quite sure why she was grumpy with me. I have no beef with the US Postal services rates on shipping. If you don't have a collect account with UPS or FEDex, guess what, the US Postal service is the way to go. Much lower in cost. Yes, this is a stab at the other reviewer that did his in 2010. The office is bleak looking. Located on a corner and could be mistaken for a shop. Parking is easiest found on the street in front starting from the light. I wish politicians were smarter about the roll of the US Postal service. Why doesn't the post office sell phone cards or money orders. It'd be cool if you could also pay your utility bills here for a cost, as is currently done at Currency Exchange locations across the city. read more

Postman Reyes is the best in the business. Any other post office has lines out the door and workers in disarray. This place is run efficient ,never any lines, always organized , and the friendliest postman ever at the helm. USPS WILL NEVR BE THE SAME IN CHICAGO ONCE POSTMAN REYES RETIRES. Went today to ship some clothing I was giving away, so I didn't want to spend a million dollars to ship the stuff six miles to the Loop. I discovered the Priority Mail 'Flat Rate' for a box that would have fit the six or so t-shirts would have cost $10.70 to ship, a bit steep. So, in noticing that they offer Priority Mail in a non flat-rate (postage is by weight, instead), I tried, in the lobby, to find the appropriate box, to no avail. Thus, I went up to the one-and-only clerk (in a small storefront sub-station) and I got the usual you're-bothering-me/surly/uhelpful/I-dunno-nothin' bullshit treatment we're all used to receiving at the Post Office. So I look around the lobby another several times, not finding the boxes again, was about to walk out in frustration/disgust, lo and behold clerk decides to DO HER JOB, find a box (I'm the ONLY customer in the place, not like she was busy) and yells to me when I'm two feet from the door. It's a miracle! Never mind when I borrowed their tape for the box, I had to rip it with my teeth. For this I saved a whole three bucks over the 'Flat Rate'. Initially, the rude schtick was explained as filling in for someone's 'lunch break' (cuz nobody else has EVER done that, it's always a good excuse to be ignorant); this was at 2:50pm, odd time for lunch, considering the fucking place is 8:30-5, and in winter closes at 4 (I once showed up slightly after and they were closed, though at least the schedule on the door reflected same--but still, who closes at 4? Doesn't serve working folks too much). I probably could have gone to a UPS/FedEx outpost (and will find one next time), paid about the same, had free tracking info and have been treated like a human without having to bitch or beg. The Post Office retail clerks need to realize their job is no more difficult, and in many cases less so, than being a cashier anywhere else, and they're paid two or three times as much, have ridiculous benefits, and our government and union's you'd-practically-have-to-kill-someone-to-be-fired job protection. Maybe the reason they're assholes is because there's NO consequence for not being so. Shocking, isn't it? The only reason it's getting two stars is because this annoying experience only took five minutes or so, there was no line, and that the clerk finally redeemed herself, somewhat, by eventually being civil, not sighing when I asked her questions like we were in an ER, and just doing her job. Still, I leave the house once a day, deal with this bullshit, and need a drink afterward. Not that I'm blaming the clerk for my alcoholism, mind you. Can't imagine why the Post Office is losing like a hundred billion dollars a year of OUR (U.S. taxpayer's) money. Shut it down. I don't want mail, really; I hardly get Christmas or birthday cards, it's 95% junk, a waste of paper and taxpayer money, and I can receive and/or pay bills on-line. read more

Less then a 1 Star review if I could give a negative review I would! I would like it if your drivers stopped lying and saying that they left a notice and attempted delivery. I have been home all day waiting for my package getting text updates and then 30mins after the supposed delivery attempt I get a text saying that it was an insecure area. They never even tried to deliver it! This is not the first time this has happened but this time it was my WEDDING DRESS!!!!!! This is very very not okay! I have no idea how to get my package now because every time this has happened before I couldn't get a hold of anyone and redelivery requests weren't working I tried everything. But this is a non refundable fuck up and someone has to get back to me and help me because this is my wedding dress! Idk who is in charge of the USPS carriers for 60651 area but they need to be reprimanded. It is not okay for someone to take the day off from work to sit home a wait for their package and then the carrier to not even attempt to make a delivery just lie and make it impossible for me to get my package and have to take off another day just to figure this out. read more

I thought I could do a quick drop-off at this post office based on earlier reviews that there is no line here, but that was not the case. This is a really small post office with only two stations, but only one is open. There were 5 or 6 customers in line on a Monday afternoon, and the line was crawling. Meter parking is available on North Ave, and at corner of Harding, but the rest of the street is all permit. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. read more

WATCH OUT FOR MR. LEMUEL. Mr. Lemuel, on repeated occasions, has intentionally measured the boxes wrongfully, making it so that I have to pay three times the actual amount. Today, I took a box that was 18x18x12, as marked right on the box. Mr. Lemuel measured it as 20x20x14. He wanted to charge me $47 because of it. I took it to another U.S. Post Office by Roberto Clemente, and they measured it as 18x18x12 and weighed it, and charged me $15. This has happened several times with Mr. Lemuel. On another occasion, Mr. Lemuel wanted to charge me $36 by measuring the box more than it was marked, and when I took it to the other post office, I was charged $12. I have brought this to the attention to the supervisors three times, but no one has done anything (Rita Callegos). Mr. Lemuel continues to rip people off at this location. I would like to leave a public notice that Mr. Lemuel continues to work here and continues to measure the boxes bigger than they are in order to overcharge people. When I have brought this to Mr. Lemuel's attention, he says that If I don't like it I can go somewhere else. But the point is that if he is trying to rip me off he is likely ripping other people off at this location. Unfortunately to this date, no one has taken any corrective action regarding Mr. Lemuel's abuse. As a result, I must bring this to the attention of the community so that they are aware of the abuse and take their business elsewhere. read more
