I'm really on the fence about this location. The perks are that's it's a quick drive from my house and parking is pretty vast in this area. It doesn't seem like there would be a heinous line of doom like what can be found at the Logan Square or Wicker Park post office. The drawbacks to hitting up this location is if I'm on an errand run, there is no commerce for me to frequent. Also is it just me or is it a bit weird to have the postal workers behind bullet proof glass? That doesn't make me feel very comfortable. I had to squeeze my packages through a tiny crevice in the wall to the employee. I felt very under dressed because I left my bulletproof vest at home. If I need to drop off large packages and I don't have any other errands I guess the trek is worthwhile. Otherwise I'll just plan on standing in line at a different location. read more

Mail theft, false delivery scans & retaliation due to reporting mail carrier for mail theft

This post office location is a joke. I get informed delivery service and my driver license should have been delivered on May 24 and I have received mail after that date. So no one knows where my mail is at this point. And how about my check never got delivered this past Saturday, June 7. And when you call there is never an answer. This place is trash. The staff are rude and unhelpful. They frequently mark packages as delivered without even attempting delivery. They will hang up on you, shout at you and lie about their delivery attempts. I really wish I had a different post office serving me. We had enough of disrespecting us and our deliveries. From stamping erroneous statuses and having to file claims for incorrect deliveries, throwing packages on the stairs or lawn, when the gate is unlock to receive them, and to other people mail. This has become a regular problem that has NOT stopped. The staff don't care about it and just provide another apology when called out, but no changes to do the job right. This place is absolutely awful. I got a P.O. Box here because it's closest to where I live and I get frequent mail/packages. The first problem is that they have the rudest staff ever. There's one woman in particular who is always there and her customer service is just vile. Despite that I could stand to overlook the customer service if the business itself was run well but it isn't. I typically go in and I know exactly how many packages I'm meant to be picking up because they're tracked. When they hand me my packages I go through to make sure everything is there and without fail, every single time they have left out packages and I have to go and tell them I'm missing packages. I can't even imagine how many of my untracked mail pieces are sitting in other people's P.O. Boxes that I'll just never receive. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. read more

I played secret shopper just for the Yelp of it. I timed the wait in line, 3 people ahead of me, a solid 14 minute wait until I was up. Once my turn was complete, I had been at the post office over 28 minutes! That's right, they took 14 minutes to handle my requests. What were my requests you ask? I completed two Certified Mail slips and I wanted to purchase stamps. I have lots of small denomination stamps at home so I needed about $12 worth of .10 stamps. Some Innovation stamps, some Celebration stamps and Postcard stamps. It took quite a while for her to help out on the stamp front. She had a folder of all types of denominations, separated. I asked for Eid stamps, then Chanukah stamps- they had neither. Overall the clerk was helpful and courteous as one can be behind bullet-resistant glass. However, nobody in this Postal Office wants to move any quicker than a snail. At this point you might be looking at my other review stating "Buy your stamps online," I had the most unfortunate experience with the Fort Dearborn Post Office, they delivered my stamps a month after I ordered them. Of my experiences ordering stamps online, I've waited 1 day, 1 day, 2 days and 29 days. So Fort Dearborn sort of messed with a good streak and put me on alert. I swear I wasn't trying to trip up the clerk, that said, i wasn't leaving until I had my stamps in various denominations. When I left the line had swelled to over 10 people. read more

Horrible service. Not receiving mail for over a week. After 5 days I requested to pickup mail and was told it was out for delivery. It was not. On the 6th day I called and was told I could pick up my mail. I went to their location and was told by the clerk at the window that it must have went out for delivery because it wasn't there. Still no mail delivery. This is the 7th day. I called again and spoke with another clerk that actually took the time to find my mail. It was there all the time and the window clerk could not be bothered to look for it. I have tried to be patient because they have had staffing shortages, but this has become too much. This station manager needs to be replaced, the chaos going on there is her responsibility. There is a reason for so many bad reviews. read more

There is never more than 1 lady manning the desk at this post office. She doesn't move with any urgency at all nor does she call for help. I've stood in line for over an hour just to drop a package off. This Post Office has the worst delivery service. In two months this office has lost 3 of my packages (2 of them is my prescriptions and 1 collectible). Does no good to call they compliment their workers, yet I still have not scene mail in days at a time. The carriers come whenever they want they practically make their own schedules which would be fine if they actually deliver. What's the point of informed delivery if the mail could still take up too a week? They don't even deserve a 1 Star! I would like it if your drivers stopped lying and saying that they left a notice and attempted delivery. I have been home all day waiting for my package getting text updates and then 30mins after the supposed delivery attempt I get a text saying that it was an insecure area. They never even tried to deliver it! This is not the first time this has happened but this time it was my WEDDING DRESS!!!!!! This is very very not okay! Not even one star... this post office has cost me hundreds of refunds and lost money. The carriers are lazy and only work for a check. As god is my witness, I will try my best to get this office shut down. I live in a 3 unit building each unit has 4 apartments... with non secure front security doors. I have a video showing, not just my mail/packages, but everyone's mail/and packages just sitting on top on the box... waiting to get stolen. This place constantly scans packages as being unable to be delivered when they never even attempted to deliver my package. This happens ALL THE TIME. Seriously, like every other week. Every time I ask what is going on, I'm just told different things or that no one knows. The truth is, the drivers DO NOT come down my block every day. They are absolutely skipping days. There is no other explanation. Every time tracking tells me a package could not be delivered because they "could not access delivery location," NO other mail to my building is dropped off. The customer service at this particular post office (Robert Leflore Jr. Local Post Office) is absolutely terrible!!!! I had been waiting for a paid package for several days. The tracking number for my package stated that my package was DELIVERED on 3/20/17 at 3:37pm! This was the information that the carrier scanned into the system. I was home during that time and my package WAS NOT delivered!!! The carrier was not honest! My package was costly and now it' s missing!!! I had to go online to the USPS website and report the package as missing!!!! In addition, in order to file a claim against a missing package, there are so many steps that the customer has to go through---totally frustrating. To put the icing on the cake, the USPS does not recover certain missing packages (i.e. "health/beauty items, etc.). Therefore, in my case, I'm out of my package and my money!!! All of this frustration because a careless carrier who had no regard for the importance of customer's mail, did not deliver the packages/mail she was responsible for correctly. I also found out that this particular postal location, is known for poor customer service ranging from retail service to carrier service. The fact that stiffer consequences can not be placed on the postal workers at this location leads to less than quality service----absolutely shameful!!!!! read more
